About representation of child abuse in ML
I’m sorry if this isn’t the proper way to send it I chose it because I can actually divide paragraphs here. I am also assuming none of the abuse submissions are reblogged because of the subject.  I was neglected as a child(parents often forgot to feed me, didn’t care about my hygiene and I couldn’t go to the doctor when I should have) and emotionally abused after coming out as trans as a young teen(constantly being pressured to stop being trans, treating me as stupid and melodramatic for being trans at all, showing open disgust if I did something “too manly” etc.). I was a bully for two years in middle school before realizing the weight of what I was doing. I had to put in a lot of effort to improve, especially since guilt was feeding into already-existing self-hatred. When I first saw Miraculous Ladybug on TV I didn’t expect child abuse to come up at all since it’s a hard topic even for adults and Miraculous didn’t seem like the show to tackle a complicated topic. Looking back they shouldn’t have tried because they end up giving incredibly bad messages. As you point out Chloe is treated as irredeemable and sent off with her abusive parent as punishment while Andre is never treated as the neglectful parent he is. While children can be abusive to their parents Andre is the mayor of Paris while Chloe is a kid, he holds a lot of power here that he refuses to use at all. He also doesn’t try to get Chloe psychological help which would be the correct course of action seeing her mother despite the fact it wouldn’t even make a dent in his pocket. It would be better to either have Chloe’s redemption fail while highlighting how her parents affect her behaviour but don’t justify it or have a straightforward redemption arc, maybe one where she doesn’t get forgiven but still improves to show kids there’s a way out. “I will always be like this because of abuse” is an easy thought to fall into and ML accidentally ends up teaching it to kids, Jesus. The other thing that really bugs me is the treatment Gabriel gets, it seems to me that the show tries to use his love for his wife and son as a redeeming quality but I am not sure on how good an idea that is. It’s better than if he were to hate Adrien but loving Adrien doesn’t excuse any of the things he does. In my experience most abusive parents do love their children, they really think they are doing the best for their kids. The kicker comes in when they end up harming their children in some way but refuse to acknowledge it. If your parents always end up doing more harm than good and refuse to stop, then love alone can’t save it. I don’t think that point was there as Gabriel’s love was portrayed as a good thing because this show doesn’t do nuance. Also the plot Gabriel abusing Adrien should mainly be about how Adrien feels. Of course it will affect other characters but Adrien is the one getting abused by Gabriel. Gabriel is also an incredibly controlling parent who takes away Adrien’s agency and the show never really addresses that. Adrien is a bystander in a story-arc about him getting abused. He never learns that Gabriel is Hawk Moth(writers seem to think we forgot Chat Blanc and even then that episode was more about “Ooo hero gets akumatized”), we never learn his thoughts about the whole situation and Gabriel completely gets his way in the end, leading to a happy ending. Adrien’s contribution to the finale is giving up the agency he had left. This really left a sour taste in my mouth. If you’re not going to deal with how abuse affects Adrien, why write it in at all?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all, I’d like to thank you for being able to step forward and talk about your history with your parents. I’m very sorry that you had to go through that.
Second of all, you make a good point with how much the show empasizes Gabriel’s love for his family supposedly justifying his terrible actions, with or without the mask. It doesn’t help that, like you said, he doesn’t even get to confront Gabriel about their relationship himself, and ends the season believing all the delusions Gabriel had about him being a good father.
Hell, even the movie does a better job at pointing out how much Gabriel has hurt his son over the show itself, and I’m pretty sure that’s why so many people prefer that version of Gabriel over this one.

ZERO DAY RANT. 002 TW: SEE TO THE MOVIES CONTENTS BEFORE READING. I WILL BE DISCUSSING THE IMPORTANT BUT TRIGGERING ASPECTS OF THIS MOVIE.
Cal was metaphoric, poetic in his views and morality. And he didn't wanna live.
Andre was angry, lonely, and wanted nothing more than to die for what he wanted to prove.
They're so different, and yet they understand each other. They're problems both strayed from the same place, they felt an absence of purpose. So they created one for themselves, and they died for it man. They died by each other. It's obvious anyone wouldn't ever reason with what they were thinking or doing, because they killed these men and women. They killed people with lives, and even in the end revenge is still preserved. It's this act of revenge that spiked another.
Revenge in this movie, is just seen to be drawn out further in the end. Even after what they did. stuff rooted from it, these kids saw this act of burning their graves as rightful. But do they not understand this was the same delusion, same hate that created this cause? They are the same violence, with different extents. They do not see the cry that was in their ends, but who would when it was after a laugh. They are immoral, they are horrible. But they were never given a chance, they were the reason to each other that either saw to this plan at all. They are the Army of two. This movie's point is to prevent what they did. To prevent who can become what they have. You can't get help unless you seek it, and you can't let problems happen till they get to a dangerous point. If there's a problem, if there's an effect to someone's well being, you can never know if it's capable of something bigger. What it can lead to, and no one deserves to live life with the purpose to end it. No one is truly a monster, no one is the bad guy, no one is the good guy. We're all fucking humans. But if we feed into others ideation, if we're influenced by others ideation we can become horrible. We can become blind, and corrupted. Everything is conceptual, everything is a word and a thing to be thought about. We have so much in life that tears us, that makes us happy. Sometimes we don't understand our own emotions, or actions. So how could Cal and Andre? It took two people to tell each other it was reasonable, it was rightful. It took two suicidal, ill children disturbed in their own ways to give each other enough comfort to have the courage to kill themselves and others. It proves you can be hurt by the wrong crowd, but yet only understood by them. You want to be understood, you don't want to be alone. But sometimes those aspects don't make you realize what your doing shouldn't happen. Morality, its so fucking flexible if your part of the wrong crowd, or driven to a wrong point. But really it isn't morality that drives someone to murder, its desire, or hate. And hate can be in morality, it can make something feel right. You hate robbers, because what they do isn't right. Andre hated this school, because what it does to him isn't right. But how Andre handled dealing with it was horrible, it was clear he was in a mindset unhealthy, and being friends with Cal only enabled it. Andre only enabled Cal. Zero day isn't a slasher movie, it isn't a true crime. It sheds light on these problems, it makes you think. It makes you understand, to try to prevent. Because these people came from simple name calling. So hey, one. Don't call someone an idiot, communicate. We don't know if someone's mentally disturbed, and why even call someone an idiot in the first place? That isn't education, it's blatant harm. And if this 'idiot' is causing it themselves from words or action, its counterproductive. You're being a hypocrite. And it'll only be getting anger out of them which just causes either spite or ignorance so then you get nowhere. I mean, if there's ignorance either way, then sometimes it's better left to professional help. And two, it just tells you to seek this help yourself. No matter how horribly or subtly ill, it's better than starting from something capable of causing harm to yourself or others. Zero Day is just something fake, but real. In all honesty, like any other it's how you find something out of this movie, whether bad or good. It just feels like a test. It was never made to encourage, but prevent. But people are capable of either, and that in itself is the test. To see if you're capable of reasoning, and understanding what's really to blame. And simply, no one. Your story is dependent on your actions, on what you do to help yourself. And killing or suicide is never an option. Movies can be for hope, for reasoning and awareness. This movie is anything, but to be encouraging. It's meant to make you more thoughtful, to find points and reason from this and everything else. It wasn't made for shock culture, it's more than that. On Andre...
So, I've been picking up on a lot of negative feelings towards Andre within the fandom (some warranted, some unwarranted in my opinion). And I think it comes down to two things:
-Andre is probably one of the least developed of the core group in terms of writing.
-Andre's actor (Chance Perdomo) has some problematic views irl.
I want to focus on the first point however, cuz I'm interested in the character not the actor (Patrick Schwarzeneggar and Claudia Dumit also support Isreal, so I'm choosing to focus my feelings on characters, not the actors if I want to enjoy this show at all).
When I first watched Gen V (before the hyper fixation had kicked in), Chance's performance had been one of my least favourites. I didn't like the weird voice he was doing (turns out he was Brit doing a pretty decent attempt at an "American Jock" type accent) and I thought the actor kept doing a lot of awkward stammers and tics that didn't feel in line with the character (I assumed, that's just how the actor was irl). That is until I watched a cast interview and I learned 2 things:
He is a Brit.
He's actually a very smooth and clear speaker. Which means those mannerisms were an intentional choice by the actor.
Later, once the hyperfixation had truly set in, I was watching a boatload of cast interviews, when I caught a comment underneath one of those videos that totally changed my view of that character and performance during my 4th (maybe 5th) rewatch.
You know how each of the core group's abilities hurts them in some way and thus works as an allegory for some form of personal issue that they are overcoming? i.e.
Marie -> Cutting/Self Harm
Emma -> Eating Disorders
Cate -> Consent
Jordan -> Gender Identity/dysphoria
For a while, I don't really see how Andre's abilities could serve as an allegory for anything. like, yes later on we learn that his powers will cause him damage over time, but that kind of seemed ham-fisted at the last minute, and not really connected to his ability to bend metal.
But back to that one Youtube comment. I can't remember word for word the comment, but to paraphrase, essentially:
The commentor spoke about how they connected to Andre's character a lot because when they were in college, they had developed an auto-immune disease that essentially made them chronically ill.
They talked about being unable to keep up with their peers, while they were supposed to be in their prime physical years, and how much that taxed on their mental health. Constantly feeling left out, constantly self-medicating, and the chronic pain that they just had to grin and bear.
And as soon as I read that, everything I didn't quite understand/connect with in Andre's character suddenly made sense.
What is one of Andre's core personality traits in the group? He's the stoner.
From episode one, there's a scene of him doing drugs in every episode. Cate is constantly asking him if he's high... he's self medicating.
The slow way he talks, the constant blinking and squeezing his face (note the scene when he's yelling at Tek Knight, or after he takes that first hit from Sam, or after he stops the helicopter)... he's in pain.
So many tics and nuances in his behaviour that I initially wrote off, was actually a much more nuanced performance from Chance Perdomo.
And it all coalesces in that final scene when Andre is at Vought tower and learns of his dad's diagnosis. His powers are slowly killing him, making him weaker (like an auto-immune disease. the body attacking itself).
And the doctor asks him if he ever feels light-headed? has he noticed any uncontrollable tics? Andre is hesitant, almost like he's in denial. But you look back at his actions/behaviour throughout the show, and he's been showcasing both those things.
Finally, the scene with the helicopter. Where it's more or less confirmed that Andre's powers are doing to him, exactly what his dad's powers did. I've seen people very critical of that scene. Saying things like, Oh! He's all of a sudden being affected by the use of his powers, but we hadn't seen that previously (which I disagree) and how it seemed "too convenient".
But keep in mind, stopping a decelerating helicopter is the biggest feat of Andre's abilities we'd seen so far in the show. Of course it's going to take a bigger toll on him than all the other times (not to mention he was in pretty big emotional distress. His dad, Cate's betrayal, an attack on the school...). Stress exacerbates illnesses.
The other critique I've seen is, why are Andre's abilities having this affect now? He's supposed to be in his 20s, but his dad made it all the way to his 40s/50s before it was detected... and that's a fair question. I have some theories:
Like certain genetic illnesses, this issue is hereditary. It's not Impossible, that Andre just inherited a stronger ability than his father, and thus stronger blowback on himself.
Andre's chronic drug use might be a chicken or egg situation. Where maybe his chronic drug use exacerbated the damage his abilities were causing him, and as a result he started self-medicating with more drugs, causing a continues cycle of him increasing the damage to himself.
His dad has been shown to have a very stubborn personality (note how he refused to acknowledge when Andre revealed to him the damage their powers were causing them). Perhaps, he had started feeling the symptoms around the same age Andre had, but just kept ignoring it and pushing through up until he reached his limit in his 40s/50s.
Some other reason that writer's haven't revealed yet. The show has been renewed for a second season, and it's obvious these characters have been set up to be integral to the overarching storyline of the boys as a whole. It's entirely possible that there is more potential development for Andre's character in the future, and I think it's fair to give the writers leeway to explore that.
All in all, I just wanted to get my thoughts out about this, and maybe see how everyone else views Andre's character. He seems to be one of the least discussed in the core group, and I feel like his character has a lot of room for more development in the future if the writers approach it correctly.

10.2.2024
Albeit how sweet and kind Andre is, in reality it would be heart-wrenching to date him. Besides the fact that his partner will have to see him silently suffer from the pain of his childhood, there's something else, too.
There's how he is always out for blood to quench such a little part of his bloodlust; yet, he may slaughter a thousand angels and it would do almost nothing to make him feel better, because it's so small it's insignificant, it's temporary, it's not Raphael he killed, and nothing could truly mend a broken heart that has suffered from a loss like his.
There's how his wish to avenge those he loved and lost—as well as himself and all the innocent devils harmed—is so solid and intense that it's no longer a wish, but a need. He's so incessant on turning his dream of revenge into reality that he's ready to pay whatever doing so may cost him in exchange, even if the price were to be his own soul and life; aside from sacrificing innocent lives, the lives of those he cares about, and, most importantly, his lover's life, he's willing to give anything away.
There's the harrowing terror and anguish that these desires of his would curse his lover with—for no matter how strong he is, the fear of losing him or him getting hurt and the pain of having to see him deal with such draining, perilous, black emotions (and thoughts) would forever haunt the one who loves him.
When he's with his lover they feel calmer, because they love him and he's right before their eyes; they can see his face and feel the warmth of his body and hear his voice and know for sure that he's safe, but a single black thought may plague them still. And whenever he's away, that black thought turns into a vicious monster that feeds on their peace and heart. So, whether he's together with them or not, fear would take his lover between its teeth and threaten to crush them with its power.
There's how the second he kisses his lover's forehead or presses his lips against theirs to soon step out the door, their brain and heart would begin to pulse with nauseating fright. They would find themselves going around in brutal circles as they ask themselves the same dreadful questions once and again: is he safe right now? What is he doing in this moment? Are angels currently dying at his hands again? Did they injure him somehow?
They will wonder whether he will come home painted with angelic blood, or if that was the last embrace between them, the last kiss they shared, the last time they looked at his face and kissed his lids.
They will wonder if that was the last time they would have to feel this fright for his wellbeing and life—because he's going to disappear forever—or if he will return tonight and tomorrow will be the same.
They will wonder for a long time, but they will never find the answer and their mind will continue throbbing with fright until he comes home again.
The wave of relief and happiness would be so strong it may burn their strength and weaken their knees, but they will throw their arms around him and their tears will fall of their own accord as they silently hope that his love for them would someday change his mind so he would stay safe with them, in their range of sight.
New Andre fic idea again, hallelujah

𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 (pt4)
(Beau Arlen x Female Reader)
Tumblr media
(masterlist)
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: Beau is still wrapped up in this case and he needs to contact the FBI for help. Although he’s still skeptical of this Andre fellow. After your date with Andre goes south, you find yourself into a bit of trouble.
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: some backstory of the reader, mentions of a homicide crime scene, kidnapping, Andre has suspicious behavior, reader is starting to be a little cautious of Andre.
Tumblr media
“You mean you’re going on two dates?! Y/N, I didn’t think you’d ever go on dates with two separate guys like that! Good for you!” Cadence chuckled as she watched her sister struggle with her hair.
“I told you, the movie night with Beau isn’t a date! He said he anted to make things up to me for missing last night and a different movie night was all I could think of.” You tried to explain. You didn’t want to have that kind of reputation of dating multiple guys at the same time.
“And yet you told Beau that this thing with Andre is a friend date. You know Andre meant it to be like, you know, an actual date, right?”
“Well I mean I guess? I’m just trying to get to know the guy. He’s still a stranger so what’s the harm in getting to know him and show him around town as a friend?” You asked and Cadence rolled her eyes at you.
“You need to work on your clarification skills. Although the timing of Beau’s day off couldn’t be any worse!”
“To be fair, you volunteered me for this date, remember?”
“Well I still like you better with Beau but you’re too stubborn when it comes to him. At least you’re taking a shot with Andre!”
You smile and roll your eyes a little. Of course you knew Beau was her first choice for who you ended up with but you’ve been in that conversation with her several times. Maybe it was denial but it was for the best.
“Plus, I only volunteered you because you seriously need to get out more. Ever since that thing from a few years ago, all you do is go to work, sometimes even stay late for no actually good reason, then you come home, watch your shows, then go to bed. What kind of a life is that?” Cadence asked, all you did was stay quiet.
“I know the anniversary is tomorrow, and all I was trying to do is get you to have something to look forward before you start dwelling on the past again. You can’t change what happened and I know how you get when that day comes around.”
Your jaw tightened when your sister started bringing up what happened and you took in a deep breath and continued to try and think of what to do with your hair. You ultimately decided to curl it and pull it into a ponytail, so you broke out your curling iron. Beats the typical messy bun.
“You’re just going to ignore me now?” You heard your sister ask.
“I’m not ignoring you… just soaking everything in. It’s hard for me to go out there for a reason and you know that.”
“Y/N, you should know better than anyone that what happened to Neil was out of anyone’s control. Hell, Neil obviously didn’t even have control because if he did, he would still be here. You couldn’t prevent what happened because he was stubborn and you shouldn’t let that hold you back from dating again.”
The scene flashed through your mind at what you found. Neil was a drug user and he had been one for years. You had begged him to stop because you were worried about what would happen to him one day but he wouldn’t listen. He said that he needed a high because of his stresses from work and he would always say that he wasn’t beating you or abusing you in any way because of the drugs so he wanted you to let him be.
You fought with him about it for years when you were married and one day you decided that it was just a losing battle on your end even if you still loved him and worried about him and his health. One day, you found him on your bed, leaned up against the headboard. His eyes were closed, lips were purple, a needle was on his nightstand and he wasn’t moving. You had rushed to Neil and tried to wake him up but he was unresponsive. When you called 911, the paramedics arrived and pronounced him dead on arrival.
You found it hard to live with yourself after that. Which was why you didn’t want to date anyone after that. You couldn’t lose them whether it’s through an accidental overdose or otherwise.
“He was still my husband, Cadence. I’m going to feel some kind of guilt. I should have seen it coming and I should have pushed harder to get him to stop.” You admitted.
“I’m just glad Neil and I never had children so they wouldn’t have to be without a father, or have to see him like that.”
Cadence sighed a little. This wasn’t exactly the conversation she imagined having with you when you were getting ready for the first date you’ve had in what feels like ages. Maybe she shouldn’t have even brought it up.
“I’m sorry…” She trailed off and tried to think of something else to talk about.
“Well, um… where exactly do you plan on taking Andre? You said you wanted to show him around town.”
“He said that he liked hiking and rock climbing. I thought that maybe I’d show him some places to do some rock climbing then maybe get him some gear to show him where we can hike. Maybe where Sunny and her husband had their camp grounds for a while.” You said, appreciating that Cadence was finally changing the subject.
“What time is it anyway?” You asked and you could see in the mirror that your sister was looking down at her watch.
“Quarter till nine.” She said.
“Shit!” You began to rush and you decided to forget about curling your hair. You were lucky that you were already dressed in something at least decent for this date. It was simply a dark blue pair of jeans and a cream colored blouse with a brown leather jacket.
You pulled your hair into a couple of quick braids and started doing your makeup; something light with a little eyeliner over the top lid in some mascara.
“Right, just a friend date.” Cadence smirked before she walked off to let you finish getting ready before Andre would arrive.
Tumblr media
Beau was already at Irene’s house and CSI was there. This was probably one of the more tragic murders he had ever seen in his career. Irene didn’t deserve to go like this and Sean was just trying to help her - even though he was going about it the wrong way.
Irene had been shot and her body was lying on the carpet in her living room while The Golden Girls was playing in the background. On the wall, there was a message written in blood.
‘This isn’t over’ And there was a crown written in blood beside the message.
Beau assumed that it would be this Ace guy again and CSI was collecting any evidence they could to see if any fingerprints would match the cigarette found around the site where Ember and Sidney were found. He has to still be in town right?
“How long are fingerprints supposed to take to find out if there’s a match?” Beau asked Jenny.
He hadn’t even gone home yet after going to your house. He had to take care of this case and he needed to know that they would be able to get this Ace guy out of his town.
“If we are even able to get fingerprints, this shouldn’t take long. But we need to get the FBI involved now before things get worse.” Jenny said.
“You’re right. I’m headed down to the station to get a handle on this now.” Beau said, but he could hear Jenny’s footsteps following him.
“So did you go to Y/N’s last night?” Hoyt asked and Beau lifted a brow slightly as he walked out of the door of the dead woman’s house.
“Can we talk about something relevant please?” He asked, a little irritated. Maybe it was the lack of sleep talking.
“Was it that bad?”
“No, it’s not bad. She made plans with some guy she just met that’s new around here. I think it’s ironic that some guy comes around at the same time as all of this mess starts with the kidnappings and now a murder.” He rambled.
“Oh please, you can’t actually think he has something to do with it. He couldn’t be Ace and we don’t even have anything to have him as a suspect.” She reasoned and Beau rolled his eyes, knowing that she was right and he hated that she was right.
“No, I guess there’s not any suspicion.” He said, although he had a bad feeling.
“Anyway, to answer your question so you won’t ask me later, I went over and apologized like you said and I asked if there as anything I could do to make up for everything. I told her that today would be my day off but like I said she made plans. But she said maybe we could try for a movie night or something at my place this weekend just us.” He said as he walked to the car.
“Just so I don’t ask later, are you okay with her making plans with some guy?” Jenny asked, although she figured she’d know his real answer even if he said something different.
“Considering I don’t have an authority over what she does romantically, no I don’t have a problem with it.” He lied and Jenny rolled her eyes.
“Want company for the ride to the station?” She asked and Beau shrugged.
“Sure, why not? Maybe you can talk to Popsickle about the updates on that cigarette.” The sheriff replied.
“I don’t know if there will be any updates this soon but maybe it’s worth a shot.” Jenny said while Beau started the car.
The two of them eventually made it to the office and while they parted ways and Jenny went to talk to Poppernack, Beau went to his office and shut the door behind him. He sat down in his chair and grabbed the phone before making some phone calls to the FBI to see if this was their kind of thing.
“Hello, this is Sheriff Beau Arlen. I have a case here in Helena Montana that may or may not be linked to the Syndicate.” Beau began and he finally got in touch with an agent.
“Hello, this is Agent Harlen Sampson. I hear you’ve got something involving the Syndicate, Arlen? Whatcha got?” Agent Sampson asked.
“Nothing concrete but I do have some kind of trafficking activity involving a man named Ace. He got this kid named Sean wrapped up in this shit and this Ace guy killed his grandmother before any witness protection was established.” Beau explained.
“Ace… I believe I’ve heard that name come up. No, he’s not part of the Syndicate but he’s a part of another case I’ve been working on for the past six months. Why don’t I meet you there in Helena and we can compare notes? I’ll be on my way first thing in the morning.” The agent said.
“Sounds good, I’ll see you then.”
Tumblr media
You had finished brunch with Andre and you both had gone somewhere to go rock climbing. He seemed to be enjoying his time so far and you were glad he seemed happy. So far you were distracted from the anniversary coming up, as well as the twinge of guilt you felt after Beau came over last night.
Once you made it to the top of the rock tower, you rung the little bell and started to swing down a bit. When you got to the bottom and unlatched yourself from everything, you started looking for Andre and noticed he wasn’t anywhere to be seen.
You started walking around and when you made it around a corner, you saw Andre on the phone again and he looked a little frustrated over something. You walked towards him and only caught a glimpse of what he was saying.
“I thought you took care of the issue. He’s caused enough attention as it is. We’ve had enough complications, now you tell me the business in Canada is failing?”
Complications? What issue was Andre talking about? Is their jewelry business in trouble? You couldn’t imagine what it was like to be in charge of something like Andre was, and you didn’t envy him for it either. But what attention was he talking about?
Andre glanced up at you and he gave a slight grin before he went back to the conversation, “Just get things under control, especially in Canada. I’ll call you back.” Then he hung up the phone and he started walking over.
“Is everything alright?” You asked and tilted your head a little.
“Of course, Love. Just some minor problems with a branch overseas. But it’ll be handled soon.”
Something felt off about his so called business issues. You wondered if there was more to Andre than you initially assumed. You just hoped that maybe you were just over thinking things. He couldn’t have been some kind of criminal. He was just some guy looking to expand his business and there was nothing illegal about that.
“Okay. As long as everything’s alright.” You said and you rubbed the back of your neck. “Hey, why don’t we go looking around for some properties? I think Tonya has some land up for sale still and maybe we can look into some options for your shop.”
Andre smiled a little and he nodded, “Yeah, I think that’ll be a good idea. But I need to fill up the truck with gas first.”
When the both of you got into the truck, he pulled up to a gas station and grabbed his card from his wallet, but he left his wallet in the car before stepping out to the pump. You bit your lip and started to grow curious.
You glanced down at the wallet and you grabbed it and opened it up before you saw his ID.
Andre Bolkonsky
It sounded Russian. Reminded you of Andrey from the musical Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. But obviously your Andre didn’t have a Russian accent or anything like that so maybe it was just a family name and he had some ancestry in Russia. Who knew.
You closed the wallet and pulled out your phone. You typed out his name in your notes app in case you would need to do some sort of background check on this guy. Something inside of you was telling you to send a message to Jenny.
After opening up your messages, you went to Jenny’s messages and started typing.
Y/N: Hey, Jenny. I was wondering if you could do me a favor and look up the name Andre Bolkonsky for me. I don’t know that much about him and with the kidnappings that happened, I don’t want to put Cadence or anyone in danger.
Soon enough you got a response back.
JH: Sure thing! I know paranoia is a bit of a thing and I get wanting your sister safe. Does Beau know you want a background on this guy?
Y/N: No, and right now I’d like to keep it that way. He’s got enough on his plate as sheriff.
The sound of the truck door opening up broke you from your train of thought and you could see through your peripheral that Andre was getting in the car and buckling up again. Then the two of you started driving off.
“You know, you aren’t really sneaky.” Andre said as he continued to drive.
“What are you talking about?”
“What were you going through my wallet for?”
“Oh… I just realized I didn’t know your last name. I was curious and you left the wallet in the cup holder.” You admitted.
“You know, you could have just asked.” He reminded you and you started to get a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach. He wouldn’t do anything rash in broad daylight would he?
“You aren’t that upset about it are you? It was just stupid curiosity and you’re right, I should have just asked.” You said and when you looked at him, he seemed calm. You couldn’t read him so you honestly couldn’t tell if he was mad or just in his own head.
“I know you’re friends with the cops, and I know that you may have heard of some cases they tell you about. But is it really necessary for you to go through other people’s things? Come on, we were having a good time before you got all curious.”
“Look, I said I was sorry. I understand if you just want to take me home instead of looking for that place for the shop.”
“Good idea. I’ll look into that Tonya lady you were telling me about.”
You sighed and looked out of the window.
Great, you ruined a perfectly good date. Cadence would never let you hear the end of this one.
You were home about fifteen minutes later and you simply exited the car. So now you were in a t-shirt and some shorts instead of what you wore that morning. Several hours had gone by and you were watching the television.
Of all the ways things could have gone, you had to come off as untrusting. Wonderful.
When you looked outside you saw that it was finally getting dark. You knew that Cadence would be coming home eventually after she’d close the shop.
You got up from the couch and decided to go in the kitchen and make some popcorn. When you heard a ding from your phone you pulled it from the pocket of your shorts and saw that Jenny had texted back.
JH: There’s nothing on him as far as anything concerning. His family’s got a few shops, one of which is in Canada. He seems to be more of a stand in for a sibling that wants the company. I can do some other digging if there’s something you’re worried about. Heard you had a date with him, how did it go?
Before you could answer, you thought you heard a noise. You looked up from your phone and peeked into your living room and you didn’t see anyone there. Maybe you were just hearing things.
You set your phone down on the counter and you walked into your living room. Then you heard another noise. It sounded like it was coming from the back yard.
Perhaps it was nothing, and you were hoping that it wasn’t anything major. But that was when you heard a window breaking and your eyes widened. You rushed over to the fireplace and grabbed one of the pokers for firewood. You had to have some kind of self defense, right?
You gripped the brass poker tightly in your hand and cautiously walked through your halls, unsure of what would be waiting for you or if you would even be prepared for what was coming. Maybe you should have gotten yourself a gun for the house and you should have taken some kind of safety course. But none of that mattered now and you had to focus.
The sound was coming from your room and you saw that a tall, muscular figure with a black mask was rummaging through your things. But unbeknownst to you, he wasn’t the only intruder in your home.
Someone grabbed your arm that was holding the poker and pulled you into his chest before he covered your nose and mouth with some kind of cloth. Your vision grew blurry and the last thing you saw was the first man coming towards you. On his mask, you could faintly see embroidery of an ace card before everything turned black.

So apparently, in the latest episode Collusion (Which I refuse to watch for obvious reasons)...
There have been a couple of... changes.
I’ll let others discuss the other edit involving Marinette’s apology (I could care less about her) but the one that REALLY caught my eye was the removal of THIS scene.
Tumblr media
Hmm, interesting. Does this mean that, canonically, Andre and Audrey are still together? That the Mayor still has his job? That he adopted Zoe after all? That she’s still his ‘favorite’? That the adults are finally back in charge of production, and Astruc’s dreadful (and possibly harmful in their disturbing implications) scripts are actually being run through Quality Control before being allowed to air?
Well, not necessarily. As far as I’m aware, Chloe is still being flown off to NYC in the last few moments of the next episode forever, against her will and with an abusive mother who’ll make her life a misery (in floods of tears en route, naturally). THAT’S the part that REALLY hit me with an emotional gut-punch, and as long as they keep that in, nothing else matters quite frankly.
And just because none of the stuff above in the original ‘Collusion’ draft was implicitly stated onscreen, doesn’t mean it didn’t actually happen. For all we know, the makers saw the negative backlash to the leaked script online, and were so taken aback they decided to snip it out.
You could call them cowards, but less Chloe torture than we’re getting at the moment is ALWAYS a net positive for me, so I’ll take it.
Or maybe it was just removed due to time constraints? Perhaps the scripts were released on purpose to gauge reaction to such controversy? Does Andre have the original script under his arm (as suggested above) and he’s off to put it under lock and key?
Questions, questions. Regardless, I look forward to hearing about what promising ‘changes’ are made to the next episode to make it less of a living hell for Chloe. Lord knows, she’s suffered enough already... :/

Was musing on the Aware AU and how the trio internalize and process the abuse and otherwise contextualize or understand and communicate it or otherwise maybe fail to do so.
Because realizing a parent is unfair or doesn't care or is cruel is one thing. It can often be another to straight up be aware of and say you are an abuse victim.
Be it because they are young and thus even with the spread of therapy speak, being able to use it effectively on themselves is hard.
Or because abuse victims don't often look like they do, IE, aren't usually mega rich heirs to powerful names. Even if being a rich child can be rather akin to being an exotic talking pet given none of that money is theirs.
Sad money also makes getting empathy hard and feeling there is a way out even harder. They may not want the former or at least not desire it consciously. But its also a case of, "If we were even believed what could anyone do?"
But then there's also the more personal takes on things, such as how:
Adrien may not blame himself for his fathers inability to love him (Or at least love him in a not terrible way) but he sure as hell blames himself for "Fooling himself" for so long. He's known Gabriel his whole life, he is his son, if anyone should have figured out what he was like it was Adrien. But he didn't so he can't blame anyone else for not seeing it.
Then there's stuff like media where cold and controlling parents get redemption arcs by being soft once or the like. Adrien's just throwing popcorn at the screen, "He's lying to you, its a trick, he'll never change!"
Kagami genuinely loves fencing, she loves how skilled she is, she loves that she is a world renowned fencer. This makes it hard to deal with when abuse is woven into training, such as with overly violent spars, or with training sessions that see her hit the ground and then be forced up again and again.
She's used to her body hurting after training, the issue isn't the punishment, its how arbitrary and unfairly her mother applies them Compounded with the social isolation, control and emotional repression which she has a hard time naming. Meanwhile you have Marinette just wanting to scream because Tomoe is intentionally harming her daughter as punishment.
She'd likely need an outsider to highlight the punishment spars themselves are a bad idea that hinder rather than help her. That the pain itself was wrong, not just when or why it was applied. Kagami is proud of who she is and what she can do. So to some degree she sort of.. Needs the trauma. Because if it was unnecessary, if it isn't how she got so good, then it was just pain.
Chloe has the. other victims do not look like me jacked up to eleven. Most victims are not rich, most people who are aggressive (In her research) are physical and were harmed physically. Most don't have mayor fathers who bailed them out of trouble, though be it to make her reliant on them and feed his own self esteem, hence encouraging her acting out as it fed him.
But its also because she chose to imitate Audrey. She chose this path in order to win her parents love and it didn't even work. She chose this and now she is not choosing it but something else. She had agency in this god dammit and don't you dare tell her otherwise! She is not a victim! She is not weak!
Feeding into that is stuff like Andre actively and outright teaching her, "Extortion, intimidation, bribery, these are how you win a campaign." Because even as she restructures herself, part of her still defaults to these, part of her still sees them as pragmatic and useful. Part of her thinks they will be needed for her and the people they care about. So again, was it abuse or just Andre being bad at parenting?
Plus on the physical side of things, there is some stuff that can be bled into headcanon, among other things... But one thing I would note is that canon Chloe grabbing Zoe and inspecting her like livestock before giving her approval. How she gets so aggressively close and into people's space when she otherwise seems to try and be distant. This screams learned behavior and we can't even blame it all on Audrey cos she was more of a: Fly in tear my daughter apart and leave parent. With likely a mix of social media, calls and streams, or rejection from and via those to compound things. So she's getting this heavily from Andre. But its not overt, its not hitting, it can't be abuse then, because Chloe is too different to the victims she finds, too different to be seen as a victim.
All true! I don’t think any of the kids would apply the words "abuse victim" to themselves. Like, their parent suck. They suck SO BAD. Their parents are awful people who aren’t going to change. They know this. They accept this. But I'm not a VICTIM. I'm not ABUSED. I'm not what that looks like. It doesn’t apply to me(derogatory).
Funnily enough, they might apply it to EACH OTHER. Chloé absolutely thinks Gabriel is emotionally neglecting Adrien. Adrien thinks André and Audrey emotionally abuse Chloé. They both think Tomoe abuses Kagami. But it doesn’t apply to themselves, and they don’t bring it up or try to convince each other.

Dr Facilier Villain Backstory
Born Andre Facilier in 1888 to poor parents who died when he was a young teenager, leaving him to fend for himself for a few years before being taken in by his many times maternal ancestor Mama Odie learned of his plight and took him in
Under her, he learned the practices of Voodoo and showed some promise in this, and for a while, he was happy studying under her
But the poor treatment under the hands of the white and rich members of New Orleans society, both as a child and during his time on the street had rightfully given him a sense of anger at the injustices of the world, which he sought to correct by gaining greater aptitude in the practice
But this righteous anger unfortunately fell prey to the machinations of the dark Loa that existed on The Other Side,  who promised to enhance his powers if he would enter into a deal with them
Mama Odie tried to steer her grandson away from these dangerous beings who would promise so much but take even more, but Facilier ignored her warnings and began drawing on the darkness to punish and harm as he saw fit, even eventually those who had done him no harm but were simply in the way of his goals
This lead to a confrontation between him and Mama Odie which ended in them disowning each other and Facilier making his first real binding deal with his new Friends, the first of many that would pull him deeper and deeper into their debt
From my Canon Descendants: He at one point married Lucille, the daughter of the famous Madame Leota, who he'd had some dealings with in connection with Mama Odie before she too broke ties with the priestess as her interests became darker.
With Lucille, he had two daughters, Frederique and Celia, whom his wife died in giving birth to.
Celia had great clairvoyant powers, which Facilier would often take advantage of, as her natural aptitude was greater than his
(They're around in the movie but just in the backrooms of the shop, so we don't see them x)
(I originally had his wife's name be Oona but I thought that was too close to Uma, so I changed it)

Okay so, a while ago when Exes and Oohs dropped, I conjured up a dark as hell "Arranged Marriage" Stolitz AU, and then forgot to share it with you. So here it is!
(It's less of an "arranged marriage" AU, and more of a "holy fucking shit this is so fucked up" kinda thing. Content warning for... all of the stuff a darker arranged marriage AU usually implies.)
In this AU, Paimon acts quite similar to Crimson, though in this case the roles of Stolas and Blitz align with Chaz and Moxxie respectively. Basically, Paimon finds out about Stolas's tryst with Blitz. No shit, because he was being completely obvious about it. It's not like Stella blabbed or anything-- Stolas was just so upfront about it without any fear of repercussions, that pretty soon the whole Are Goetia knew. And this, obviously, is pretty bad for them. Not only does it make Paimon look bad for raising an Imp-fucker (and, in their eyes, having ENCOURAGED it since he was the one that got them together originally), but it also makes the whole Ars Goetia look weak as a whole.
Paimon needed to find a way to fix this, and fast. Even if Stolas was still under the command of the Ars Goetia, he can't exactly get Stolas to just-- not fuck an Imp. So killing Blitz is out of the question, as that's just kicking the can down the road. Allowing Stolas to be so obvious about it any further risked the reputation of the Ars Goetia as a whole, so the solution was simple, in his mind. A solution that would keep Stolas from being stupidly open about the relationship, but also keep Stolas from going to another Imp.
Without much fanfare, Paimon kidnapped Blitz.
It was so, so simple. Imps were practically the lowest on the food chain. They already had servants, hell, Goetia's already had pet Imps. Cute little things they could carry around in a purse. So what did it matter if one was a little bigger? So what did it matter if this one had a business? Paimon was killing three birds with one stone; he was keeping Stolas from making a fuss, he was keeping Stolas from going to another Imp, and best of all, he was securing the safety of Stolas's Grimoire.
The arrangement was simple. Blitz would live locked away in Stolas's palace, and act as a glorified pet. He could not leave-- that would bring them too much attention. Stella was already practically living with Andre at the time, so they didn't need to worry about her pitching a fit over it. After all, Octavia was already born-- no harm in just letting Stolas have his little plaything all to himself. And, to be honest, I could even see canon Stolas being happy with his arrangement. And wouldn't, in his eyes, Blitz be happy too? He no longer needed to fight for scraps. He no longer needed to risk his life. Now he could live, pampered and loved, as Stolas's little plaything, wrapped in his golden chains.
(Man, that got dark. Uhhh, let me think of a happy ending real quick! Striker notices Blitz is missing and, with M&M's help, rescues Blitz and decapitates Stolas. Better? No? Okay sorry)
This is excruciating and so painfully plausible it's chilling. You just know that Stolas would absolutely be happy with this arrangement, that he'd call Blitzy "darling" and paw his face without his consent and tell him how perfect their lives are going to be now that they can be together all the time. Anyhow it's safer here, and change is just what we're used to, and if Blitzo got too loud about wanting to leave, Stolas would probably be the first to remind him that Blitzo was the one who broke in to steal his grimoire, so really, Blitzo put that chain around his own neck...
This feels exactly like pilot and Murder Family Stolas's logical, terrifying conclusion and I hate that we didn't get that. If I didn't have a thousand things to do, I'd write a fic about it myself.

They Shoot Websters, Don't They?
Tumblr media
Hi! It's me with another fic to wreck you (but there's hope in this one I promise).
This is for @antoineroussel's winter fic exchange! I had the honor of writing for the lovely @laurenairay! Thanks to my girls @assmanselke @matthewtkachuk @kat-hearts, @raysofcrosby and Demi again for reading and editing this and threatening me to write a happy ending which I still didn't really listen to but here we are.
The title and the end of this are inspired by the Season 3 episode of Gilmore Girls titled "They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They," so iykyk
Warnings: Drinking, Swearing, Asshole boyfriend
WC: 5390
“It’s Christmas Eve, and you’re sitting by yourself on the couch, doing nothing but eating a bowl of chips like a pack mule,” Noel hears through her speakerphone and scoffs at the accusation.
“That’s mean.”
“Am I wrong?”
Noel hesitates. “No,” she says, begrudgingly, putting the bowl of chips down in front of her as if Andre can see her. “What point are you trying to make?”
“Let me pick you up. You can spend the day with me instead of on the couch by yourself.”
She hesitates again. There’s no reason why she should be disrupting her quiet day in the warmth of her apartment and the coziness of the blankets. Her favorite tea is sitting next to her in her favorite mug, she was getting ready to pull up her favorite movie to play in the background, and a stack of books on the side table calling her name as they had been since she got off work the night before. “I don’t want to get up.”
“I’m coming over anyway.”
“Hey, no,” she protests.
“I’m turning on your street right now; I’ll see you in less than two minutes.”
She tries to argue back before he inevitably hangs up without letting her get in another word and contemplates putting the chain on the door so that he can’t get in without her physically letting him in. But that means she will have to get up from the comforts of her blanket and the couch and actually put the chain on the door. Is stopping him from coming in really worth moving?
What’s the harm in spending a day with her best friend? She can’t be with her family because they’re on the other side of the country, she isn’t extremely close with her work friends to have one of them invite her over, and Andre isn’t with his family either. He’s her best friend. That’s it. Any boyfriend she’s ever had never had as much stuff left behind in her place as Andre did.
They know each other better than they know anyone else. Andre has multiple sets of clothing left behind in her apartment, and she has the same at his. He has overnight stuff stashed away for all the nights he spends with her after road trips or when he needs to get away from the guys, and she has stuff at his place for the same reason. He knows where everything is  in her kitchen to just start making food for them whenever he wants, and she does the same at his place. He has a copy of her favorite books and movies stashed away somewhere for her in his bedroom, and he has the same thing in her place.
“Webster, you look pathetic,” Andre says, bursting through the door, Noel regretting giving him a spare key, breaking her out of her spiraling about their relationship.
“That key is supposed to be for emergencies, you know,” she fires back, making a face at the use of her last name.
“Based on your current state, this is clearly an emergency,” Andre tells her, flopping down on the couch and attempting to unwrap her. “Hey, don’t hit!”
Noel grumbles, doing her best to attempt to rip the blankets back from him. There’s no need for him to be doing this. She was perfectly fine sitting on her couch. “Stop it,” she tells him, trying her best to get away from him. “You’re being mean.”
The two of them continue to fight with the blankets, Andre ending up with the entire thing behind him, Noel trying her best to reach for them. He puts them behind him, laying down so that they are under his back. Without thinking, Noel’s legs and one arm were on one side of his body, practically laying on top of him while she tries to get the blanket. She feels herself wobbling, Andre’s free hand shooting up to steady her, wrapping it around her and landing on the small of her back. The two of them stop for a minute, both of them breathing heavier than normal from their stupid struggle. Noel swears she sees Andre’s eyes flick between her own and her lips, their heads moving closer and closer ever so slightly. He wants to kiss her, more than she realizes. The moment ends when Noel launches herself back to her corner, clearing her throat and trying to act like nothing has happened.
“So what does your Christmas Eve look like, then?” she asks him, breaking the silence.
“Well, when I was younger, we would go sledding, but there’s no snow for that right now, so that’s out of the question. I would make cookies with my family, and eventually, we would bring them around to our friends.”
“That takes up a whole day?”
“A couple of hours, yeah.”
“Andre,” Noel whines.
“Come on, we can make cookies, watch your Christmas movies, drink the tea you love out of the mug you love, I will even read you the books you have right there while we’re baking if you want.” Andre turns to her, taking her hands in his. “Please, Noel?”
She rolls her eyes at the goofy grin covering his face, the puppy dog eyes that he flashes at her making her unable to say no to him. “Fine. What are we starting with?”
Andre jumps off the couch, his hand still in hers as he drags her to the kitchen. “We can make all the cookies I made with my grandmother growing up, and any you have that you want to make.” He starts to look through her cabinets, trying to find anything that would resemble the ingredients of a cookie and laying them out on the counter. “You only have flour and sugar. You don’t even have eggs. Or milk?”
Noel shrugs, knowing that she has nothing. “I was going to wait out the Christmas chaos and go shopping after the holiday. I have enough to survive, why get more?”
“We’re going,” he tells her, pulling out his phone to see what is still open and for how long. “The market a block over is open until 5, so we have plenty of time to get everything we need.”
“That’s mean to go on Christmas Eve,” Noel tries to protest as Andre starts throwing her coat and hat at her.
“Come on, Webster,” he pleads, calling her by her last name even though he knows she hates it, “We’re going to be in and out. We can even bring the store owner cookies as a thank you if they’re still open when we’re done.” She starts putting on her stuff, not wanting to go outside on the day she’s supposed to stay tucked in. He is just lucky that the stuff she wears around the apartment is something she would go out in on a normal day, too. “Don’t be a Grinch.”
“I’m literally named after Christmas. I can’t be a Grinch by default.”
Andre grins at her, taking her hand in his and dragging her out of her apartment. “This’ll be fun, I promise.”
Andre starts rattling off recipe after recipe, ingredient after ingredient for what is sounding like a plethora of cookies that Noel knows she doesn’t have enough utensils, bowls, and cookie sheets for.
“How many types of cookies do you normally make on Christmas Eve?” she asks, scared for the answer.
“Swedish tradition is seven.”
“Seven?” Noel nearly screams. She can’t even think of seven cookie flavors she likes, let alone seven flavors she can make. “Why seven?”
Andre shrugs, opening the door to the market, suddenly overly conscious that he is still holding Noel’s hand. “Less made you look stingy, more made you look like a show off.”
“I kind of like that.” Noel grabs a basket, trying to keep up with everything that Andre was absent-mindedly throwing at her.
“What kind of cookies did you make when you were growing up?”
“Never had any. Christmas isn’t really a big thing for us. I didn’t really ever celebrate it until I moved out here and met…” Noel starts, trailing off as Andre puts more and more in the basket she’s holding.
“Met Myles,” Andre finishes her sentence for her. He turns his back to her, pretending to look at the different raspberry jams in front of him, swallowing hard at the thought of Noel’s boyfriend. “What’s he doing tonight?”
“He’s been with his family at their ski house since Sunday. I told him not to wait for me since I had to work yesterday, and that I would see him for the New Year.”
“Even more of a reason to be together tonight, then,” Andre chokes out. “We can’t be with our families, we might as well be with our friends instead.”
They finish up at the store, Andre talking a mile a minute about the cookies he wants the two of them to make. They aren’t going to make seven, only the three that Andre knows how to make without looking up the recipes: hallongrottor, schackrutor, and nötkakor. Noel has no idea half of the things he is saying as they walk back, both of them with arms full of bags. She isn’t even sure what he’s talking about is even baking related by the time they get back to her apartment.
“Oh, so you get started on the chess board cookie dough, I’ll do the thumbprints.”
Noel nods and measures and mixes as Andre tells her what to do. It’s soothing, making vanilla and chocolate dough. While she’s mixing, she looks over at Andre, who’s already shaping his cookies. She smiles while she watches him, the intensity that he has on his face as he focuses on making perfect circles, indenting the center just enough so they can hold the raspberry jam he picked out earlier without breaking from the weight of how much jam he plans on putting on the center.
He has flour on his forehead, right above his eyebrow. Noel wants to go over to him and wipe it off. But that would be weird, wouldn’t it? There’s no reason to do that. She can just tell him that it’s there. Or just help him and get it off, because there’s nothing to make it weird.
He can feel her staring at him, a smirk on his face forming when he tries to catch her eyes. Every time he looks at her, she looks away, Andre knowing that she felt heat rising to her cheeks as she pretended to focus on the dough in front of her. “Let me know when you need help rolling the dough out,” he tells her.
“Check what I have.” He walks over to her, the two balls of dough looking pretty good in front of her, ready to roll out.
“You have to keep it so it’s about two centimeters thick,” he says, dusting the counter with flour, hearing her scoff. “What?”
“Centimeters,” she teases, knowing it will irritate him.
“I get it, you’re American. You use inches. You want it a little less than an inch thick. Happy?” he asks her, throwing a little bit of the flour in her face.
“Oh, come on,” she replies, taking some of the flour and throwing it back at him.
The two of them start a small food fight, getting flour everywhere, covering every inch of themselves rather than the counter they are supposed to cover. The flour gets on the floor, Noel’s cabinets, all over their clothes and stuck in their hair. In her socks, Noel slips on the flour that has accumulated on the floor; Andre catches her just before she falls.
His arms are wrapped around her as tight as he has allowed them to go, trying to process the feeling of her in his arms, finally holding her despite the fact that it isn’t something he’s able to do freely.
“Are you ok?” he whispers, his voice low. He can feel himself getting nervous, his heart racing, convincing himself that she can feel it beating against her.
Noel nods before she can find the words. “Um, yeah,” she stammers, “Thanks.”
Andre lets go of her before he does anything else, taking a moment to look around at the mess they made in that short amount of time. “Should we keep going with the cookies, or clean first?”
“Cookies, then clean.”
He nods, following her back to the counter to help her roll out the dough. “You don’t want to put too much pressure on the dough.”
Noel nods again, feeling Andre getting closer to her as she starts to follow his directions again. She grips the rolling pin so tight her knuckles start to turn white, subconsciously letting out her frustration over the two missed moments on the dough.
“Not quite like that,” he says, coming up next to her. He rests his hands on hers, his one arm stretched across her chest as he tries to show her what he means. “Loosen up a little bit.”
He holds her hands in his, guiding the rolling pin over the dough as gently as he can. “Like this,” he says, turning his head to face her. Noel stares at the dough, trying her best to not look at him. He studies her, the way the lock of hair tucked behind her ear curls at the ends, the way she’s clenched her jaw, the feeling of her hands relaxing with his around them.
Noel swallows hard, the feeling of his arm relaxing ever so slightly against her making her heart race. Myles. She needs to think of Myles. But she could just lean in.
Noel’s phone buzzes, nearly vibrating itself off the counter. Both of them jump apart. “It’s Myles.”
“Go on, I’ll finish these.” Noel leaves the room, her flirty ‘hello’ ringing in Andre’s ears as he tries to not listen to her talk to her boyfriend. He takes out his own phone, pulling up the group chat with some of his teammates.
Jesus Christ, he texts, starting to type another message immediately.
You rang? Phillip replies immediately.
Stop that, he responds, rolling his eyes at his teammate. I’m with Noel.
And? Larsson asks.
I swear we almost kissed three times already.
Here we go, Alexander says.
Not this again, comes from Larsson at the same time, Andre practically able to hear the groans from his friends.
Anyway, Andre types again, Myles left her to go ski, she was all alone.
And you had to be the one to spend time with her? Phillip asks.
He knows his teammates are over his pining over her, but that doesn’t stop him from trying to get their help in the slightest. She’s my best friend...
Before he can read their responses, Noel comes back into the kitchen. Andre’s unable to read her expression. “What’s up?”
Noel shrugs, not making eye contact with him. “He just wanted to call and say, ‘hi.’ I asked how the slopes were, he said they were fine. He asked what I was doing, I said I was with you,” she tells him, trailing off.
“And?” he asks, hoping she’s finished her sentence. He can already tell what she’s about to say. It’s the same thing that Myles says to her every time Andre’s name comes up in conversation. It’s the same thing that Noel has come to him for multiple times during her relationship with Myles.
Noel shakes her head, forcing out a short laugh. “Same shit, different day. He’s not happy that I’m spending time with you ‘unsupervised.’”
Andre hates this conversation. “Jesus,” he breathes out. The two of them stand there in silence for a minute, both of them going back to their cookies and Noel not noticing the complete lack of progress Andre made in her absence. “Should I leave? Would that make things better?”
“What?” she shrieks, causing Andre to drop the cookie he was shaping back on the counter. “No. Do you want to?”
“I don’t want to. Do you want me to?”
“God, no,” she lets out, probably a little too fast. “No, Myles is just being annoying. He knows what our relationship is. He knows that we’re...”
“Friends,” Andre finishes for her.
“Best friends.” They fall back into silence, Andre getting the oven heated up so that they can start baking the plethora of cookies that they had made. Noel can remember the last time she saw this many cookies in front of her, let alone the last time she had helped make this many cookies. “We should take a picture of this.”
Andre looks up at her, “Of the cookies?”
“Yeah,” she starts, pulling out her phone and bringing up the camera. “Of us and the cookies.”
She hands Andre her phone, standing closer to him as he positions the camera, her holding up one of the baking sheets. They can’t help but laugh, forgetting they were still covered in flour from earlier. Andre pulls her closer, wrapping his free arm around her as she tilts her head toward his chest. The two of them smile, unable to stop as they look at their current state. Noel doesn’t hesitate to post it, no caption, putting a heart and tagging Andre. It’ll make Myles furious to see that post.
Good.
“So,” Andre starts, looking at the notification from Noel and seeing the heart next to his name. It meant nothing. It’s a platonic heart, he tries to tell himself. “Some of the guys are getting together tonight.”
“Don’t you guys spend enough time together already?” Noel jokes, tossing him a towel to start washing off the flour.
“Well, yeah, but not all of us have other family around to spend the holidays with. So, we’re spending it together.”
“Whose house are you going to?”
“Eberle’s.”
Noel laughs. “Lauren must love hosting that.” Her phone starts buzzing, texts and notifications from Myles flooding her phone. “So, what time do you have to be there tonight?”
“Ebs said we can head over whenever.’
Noel stops trying to get the flour out of her hair. “We?”
“Oh, come on, you thought I would leave you alone for the guys?”
Noel can feel her heart racing at his words. Myles had no hesitation leaving her for the ski house, not even putting up a fight when she said that he should go without her. Is it unfair for her to expect that of him? No, she tells herself. Myles is her boyfriend. Shouldn’t he want to spend Christmas with her when he knows her family never had the means to get all together for the holiday and that she was yet again going to be alone?
Andre’s acting the way that Myles should have been acting for her, or at least the way she’s always wanted Myles to act.
“What do we wear?”
“Something nicer than the flour-stained joggers you have right now. You go clean up, I can pick something out for you,” he tells her, shooing her out of the kitchen. He takes a tray of cookies out of the oven; they’re baked just like he always made them with his grandmother when he was younger. He grabs a few for Noel on one of her plates before heading into her room to find her something to wear.
The cookies finish baking, Andre finally cleans himself up and changes into a set of clothes he had left behind after one of his games, Noel is nice enough to wash his stuff with hers. He plops himself on the couch, scrolling through the texts from his teammates asking where he was.
Her story??? Comes from Alexander.
You too look like more than friends at least, is from Phillip.
So she’s coming tonight? From Adam.
He keeps scrolling, seeing the teasing from the guys, rolling his eyes at every comment that asks why he is hanging out with a girl he likes when he knows she has a boyfriend. He can’t help it. Even if he likes her, has whatever feeling he does for her, she’s still his best friend. His wanting more than that doesn’t change that. He won’t let it change that.
Andre starts to type out a reply to tell them that he’ll be on his way soon, that he’s just waiting for Noel when she appears in front of him. He takes in a sharp breath; he definitely picked the right outfit for her, the sweater and jeans so simple yet they look amazing on her. Everything she wore was amazing on her, though.
“You look–” he says, searching for the right word to say to her. “Wow.”
“Wow, yourself. At least you clean up well,” she laughs, clearly mocking his inability to talk. “You ready?”
Andre gets up from the couch, unable to take his eyes off Noel as she moves through her apartment. He barely registers her complaints about finishing the cookies so late, breaking his promise to her from earlier that they would drop some off at the market.
He wants to reach out and take her hand, walk her to the car. He wants to press her against the door as she reaches for the handle and kiss her right there. He wishes he could do that disgustingly cute thing while he’s driving where he rests his hand on her thigh, her hand resting on top while they drive to his teammate’s house.
He wishes she wasn’t with Myles.
The two ride without talking to each other, the only sound in the car coming from the Christmas music playing on the radio while they drive to the Eberle’s house. Noel’s phone keeps buzzing; Andre watches her type furiously out of the corner of his eye. It has to be Myles texting her. There’s no one else who would spend so much time texting her like this, causing the sour look on her face.
“Everything ok?” he asks her when they finally pull up near his teammate’s house.
“Myles is being a dick,” she mumbles, locking her phone and practically throwing it in her purse. She doesn’t wait for him to say anything else before starting on a rant. “He’s telling me that if I was planning on going out on Christmas Eve, then I should have met his family at their ski house. That by spending the day with you instead I’m being a bad girlfriend, when he didn’t even fucking invite me up to the house in the first place. The only reason he invited me is because I told him I was spending the day with you. That you came over because you were also alone, that we made cookies because it was something you did when you were younger, that we were going to your teammate’s house because it was something you were doing anyway and the guys invited me.”
“You didn’t have to come out tonight,” he starts, feeling anger bubble up inside him.
“No, it’s not that,” Noel starts before he can say anything else. “It’s that he’s getting mad at me for being with you. He had no issue with me spending Christmas by myself. He was fine with me sitting on the couch the entire weekend. It wasn’t until I told him I was with you that he started to act like that. It’s always when I’m with you that he starts to act like this.”
“Noel,” Andre whispers, trying to figure out what to say. “Why are you still with him?”
She looks down at her lap, fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. She shrugs, knowing that whatever she could tell him won’t be enough for him to believe her. She isn’t sure that anything she’s about to say is actually going to be true, anyway. “I love him. I loved him.”
They sit in silence for a moment, both of them trying to process what she just said. Andre wishes he could just reach over the center console and kiss her, hug her, do anything to stop the tears he was watching roll down her cheeks. Noel just wants to go inside and forget the entire conversation with her boyfriend happened, forget for a night that she has a boyfriend, and just spend it with her best friend instead.
“Let’s go in, Webster. I’m sure there’s something in there that will be better than this.” Andre gets out of the car, rushing around to the passenger side to give Noel his arm and walk her in. “You’re going to be fine. Whatever happens is going to happen for a reason.”
“You sound like a bad fortune cookie, you know that?”
They let out a laugh, letting themselves into the house to be welcomed by the screams of Andre’s teammates and their families. Some of his teammates look way too drunk for their own good, Andre already getting excited at the prospect of the embarrassing stories to come out of tonight. Noel can feel her heart melting at the cuteness of the children running around and playing, some of them with mini hockey sticks while others had random toys.
Andre takes Noel’s hand and leads her through the house, looking for drinks. If there’s one thing Noel needs tonight, it’s alcohol. She wants to forget Myles’s anger from earlier for just a little while, pretend that the moments she had with Andre weren’t messing with her and making her want to break up with him more than normal. She was spending the day with her best friend.
The two of them wander around the party, Noel downing her first drink much faster than she should have. But that’s fine, she tells herself, because it’s already helping her take her mind off of Myles. He didn’t matter if he was going to tell her who she could hang out with. He had no care in the world about her being alone, so why is he all of a sudden mad that she was with Andre?
She looks at Andre while he’s talking to Phillip and Alexander, his other teammates milling around them in their own worlds. There’s no denying that he’s attractive, that she’s attracted to him. How could she not be? He’s gentle and sweet to her, they know everything about each other, good, bad, and otherwise, and they still want to spend all of their free time with each other. She sees spending time with Myles as a chore, but spending time with Andre is something she wants to do all the time. She thinks about the last real date Myles took her on, how she kept checking her phone when he wasn’t looking to see what Andre had texted her, how his game was going, what the guys were doing.
He’s just her best friend. Right?
The group of them start drifting through the house together, Andre’s teammates leading them in what seems like an odd path until they stop suddenly. The two of them exchange looks, Noel rolling her eyes at his teammates’ antics. They’re up to something, she just doesn’t know what.
“Hey, you two,” Phillip says, finally pulling Noel into the conversation that had been happening in front of her the entire time. “Look up.”
They do as they’re told, noticing that Andre’s teammates have led them to an entryway to the living room, where Jordan and Lauren have hung mistletoe.
“Oh, come on,” Noel groans, a teasing smile on her face to hide the fact that her heart has started to race at the thought of finally being able to kiss Andre. If they do, it won’t mean anything. It’s just a stupid thing that people do when they’re caught under the mistletoe.
“Guys, she has a boyfriend,” Andre starts to argue, his teammates not willing to listen.
“You’re both standing under it, you have to now,” Alexander says, an evil smirk on his face that makes Andre’s heart sink. He hates them at that moment.
This isn’t how he wants to kiss Noel for the first time. It isn’t supposed to be in front of his teammates and their families. It isn’t supposed to be when she was dating Myles. He isn’t sure what it’s supposed to be, but at least he knows it shouldn’t be the situation at hand.
Phillip and Alexander start chanting for the two of them to kiss, slowly bringing everyone else around them as well. He knows his face is bright red, feeling the heat in his ears as he looks at Noel with the most panicked expression he can give her.
Noel lets out a laugh, hoping Andre isn’t able to pick up on her nerves. She leans towards him and whispers, “It’s no big deal. It’ll only last a second. It’s just a stupid tradition, right?”
“Right,” he says, not feeling any better.
Andre bends down, Noel’s hand finding his shoulder. Andre ghosts her lips, trying to force himself to just kiss the girl he’s wanted more from since he met her.
“Hey,” they hear, causing them to pull apart. Everyone around them falls silent, the chanting stopping, the kids not running around anymore.
“Myles?” Noel asks the panic in her voice now clear. “What are you doing here?”
“Looking for you,” Myles yells. In trying to forget everything about that day, Noel also forgot that she and Myles had shared their locations with each other when they first became official, meaning he could find her and she could find him whenever they needed.  “I came to get you, and I find him making a move on you.”
“It’s mistletoe, it doesn’t mean anything,” Andre says, moving in front of Noel.
“It doesn’t mean anything?” Myles laughs. “You really think I don’t know what this is? You two are always together. Half the time I can’t even get a hold of Noel because she’s with you. Do you think I don’t see the way you talk to each other? I call you today and I find out that you’ve changed your entire day because you’re spending time with him?”
“We’re just friends,” Noel lets out, trying to process everything he was saying.
“I just pointed out that she has a boyfriend,” Andre tries, not knowing how that was going to help him in the slightest. “Not anymore, she doesn’t,” Myles says, storming off. Noel follows him, tears streaming down her face, trying to talk to him while he makes his way outside. “No, Noel. I’m sick of this. I don’t want to be with someone who doesn’t want to be with me. I don’t want to be with someone who hangs out with a person I hate. I don’t want to be with someone who is so obviously in love with someone else.”
The two of them stand on the porch, having left the house before Myles continued to yell at her. She has no jacket on, the cold air adding to the numb feeling that is overtaking her.
“I’m done, Noel.”
He leaves without another word, Noel left to crumble on the porch step and watch him drive away. She can’t bring herself to cry, not feeling sad like she thought she would after a relationship ended in the way it just did. She wanted to break up with him, but she didn’t think it would be in front of a group of people, and she didn’t want it to be because of whatever feelings she has for Andre.
“Hey,” she hears, Andre appearing beside her. “Are you ok?” She can’t bring herself to talk, just giving him a nod as he sits next to her. She can feel her heart racing as his thigh rests against hers. “He’s a jerk. Yelling at you like that in front of everyone?”
“It’s not like he was wrong, though,” she sniffles. “Everything he said about you and me, about how we were in a relationship with someone we didn’t want to be with, about how we have feelings for each other. He was right. Wasn’t he?”
Andre opens his mouth, not wanting to outright admit it just yet. There has to be a better way to tell her.
“Well, he was right about me, at least,” Noel tells him, feeling her heart break over his lack of answer.
“No, he was right. About everything.”

ZERO DAY RANT. 003 TW: SEE TO THE MOVIES CONTENTS BEFORE READING. I WILL BE DISCUSSING THE IMPORTANT BUT TRIGGERING ASPECTS OF THIS MOVIE.
There is no proper villain, just two kids and their family that never knew what they would do. Because Andre and Cal never told anyone, and this bullying they suffered weighed a toll on who they are. These kids that bullied them were never at fault, their parents were. But they probably would've never known what they did, but did the school? And if it did, did it ever try to prevent this? The movie's reasons and roots are so vague that it just goes to show anything can be at fault or cause, hell, maybe even just being disturbed can be what starts it. There's just things that spur up, and it's up to yourself or anyone capable to stop it. You can be understood, helped. No one should harm themselves, or anyone. No one should be killed at the cost of ignorance. No one is god, no one is beneath, no one is above. We are all human. We all feel, if not differently, and that can be understood or changed. Everyone needs help to stay on a good path, everyone starts from being educated on what's right and wrong. But we can deal with hardships, we can face something we don't know how to handle, to process, everything is cause and effect. And we're only doing this to others, to ourselves. But we are capable of seeing the bigger picture, to see what we're doing. We all have our end, but does that make anything insignificant? No. We all matter, we all face pain, and joy. We all see eye to eye, we all have fucking eyes. Even if some can't see out of them, even if some don't, we still come from the same biology. We all have different psychological thinking, or different biological aspects. We are separate from each other, but nothing stops us from connecting as people. We have opinions, thoughts, beliefs, but sometimes it can get out of control. Don't let it, don't let others. Just live to make the most of yourself, to find happiness in whatever that isn't causing harm. And if you aren't happy, find help. Find the cause, and change the effect. Change what isn’t right.

The way the redemptions are handled is kinda trash, isn't it?
Has a single one of them bothered to say they were wrong? Shown remorse for their actions? Or did they just get what they want/not like what they got and decide to do something else?
Honestly yeah like.
Gabriel's like 'Yeah I was a dick but I got what I want so I'll die now!"
Nathalie's is 'hm. Ya know Gabriel is fucking this up let's make sure he doesn't fuck up too much and just protect Adrien instead'.
Andre says he may have done some things, but he shifts the blame to Audrey and Chloé.
Felix is.... In the right I guess? Totally justified in everything? Only thing he's shown remorse over was Red Moon. Not the fact that he tried to commit genocide, but the fact that he created his 'sister' to be a weapon of destruction and now he must kill her. (doesn't stop him from making OUAT tho!)
Sabrina doesn't apologize for anything she just magically has a moral compass now and finds the prank to be 'too mean because it could mess with people's futures!' even though. Ya know. Chloé and Lila literally planned for their prank to get caught and fixed so the only harm done is the blame on Mari which again she's been fine with. So I think this is another case of shifting the blame to Chloé because clearly Sabrina was just a puppet with no agency.
Tomoe hasn't gone one way or the other she was still part of all Gabriel's shit and just. Gets off scott free.

On GEN V...
First, I have to say that though I watch The Boys, for me the skewering of power, and it being always corrupt/corruptable, especially when corporate was smudged a bit by all the white dudes being centered by the narrative and fandom, and certain expected patterns in that.
Tumblr media
...i.e. Butcher and Soldier Boy and Homelander...ALL being stanned while all being terrible people. -Mother's Milk and Frenchie being side kicks (the Black man and the "foreigner") and the silent but deadly Asian girl... You get it. I hate that this is the case, but even when meant to subvert, this tends to happen.
So, it's interesting that they leaned in harder and made it MORE obvious this time, by literally blowing up the Golden White Guy (played by Swartzanegger's son, no less) at the end of the pilot episode and playing a Black woman's gaze as the entry point into this angle on the world. ...We saw how that went with Star Trek: Discovery. Those used to the Dursley 37 birthday presents treatment were and still are REAL mad. I hate to say it, especially given how unusually well this show is rendering the insecurities and challenges of this time for young adults, but some people we like are not gonna make it through this season... And it won't be pretty when they go (holds a halo of protection over Emma & Jordan).
...But Marie, a.k.a. the audience's gaze? is safe. That said, Marie is *also* written like the usually centered white dude, just like Micheal Burnham before her. Her arc is "the hero's journey." She stumbles, but ultimately she will measure up to the highest potential (one of, if not the most powerful hero) even she can't see yet... TW for this section... for self-harm/eating disorders etc... The powers being spot-on metaphors for the struggles and insecurities of young people is a nice writing choice. Marie's puberty/power advent literally killed her parents and alienated her sister. So, of course, she can't truly see the potential. There's ritualistic self-loathing in both her cutting and Emma's vomiting to use their powers and that is mostly imposter syndrome for both....Both of them are SO MUCH more powerful than they think, but are held back by parental baggage.
...Andre too, though instead of self-harm it's being lazy about his power development, to subconsciously detach his own personhood from his father trying to live through him.
Jordan Li is bigender but is most comfortable presenting "femme", which may also have to do with detaching from their parents' preferences in gender presentation for them. They want a super-powered son. But the only times Li presents that way is when they feel they absolutely *have to* or actively need to do something and only can, in that form. "Relaxed" or default Jordan is femme.
So, while I see people wishing Li would have been femme Li in that first kiss, it makes sense that they would shift, given the baggage and male presentation preference pressure they grew up with. They shifted back to "default" Li once they were relaxed...i.e. afterglow slumber... An interesting inferred detail is that Li was born presenting male. That is likely a big reason why their parents are that attached to a masc gender presentation.
Now Cate's arc, just like the Golden Boy Luke is actively subverting an element of expected whiteness. Her power is to compel people with touch. It's white women's tears as a superpower, which is IMO, the most clever power social metaphor in this franchise. Cate's moral compass is the strongest of the superheroes we've seen in the entire Boys universe so far. She's got those actual Karen powers, but she's the anti-Karen.
She avoids using her power non-consensually in ways that cause permanent harm and even consensually in ways that may help, and given her entry point (similar to Marie, but w/o closure), it makes sense. --This is all the more tragic if she's being used in the way I suspect...given her nightmare/flashback in those opening eps. to having been in "The Woods" (I think it's either she or whoever the puppet show person is in Sam's episodes, that is the reason for the blackouts). She's a Pusher, and much like Andy in Stephen King's Firestarter it takes a heavy toll on the brain...
She's probably not gonna make it through this season, yall. Anyway, all this to say... I am intrigued by this show. And fully invested in these characters. And I like it better than The Boys because it's leaning harder into alienating the elements it's satirizing... The Boys fans are still into the aspects of the show The Boys' narrative is skewering, but Gen V is saying much louder, this is not about you.

𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 (pt. 9)
(Beau Arlen x Female Reader)
Tumblr media
(masterlist)
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: After a relieving phone call, Beau and the other officers go on the hunt for the van that took you and they track Jack's phone down in the woods. It was now or never for Beau to find you. Meanwhile, you're doing your best to keep your chin up and be as patient as you could while you focused on survival.
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: Crime show level of violence, gunfire, mentions of Y/N’s case, fluffy Beau at the end… that should be everything~
Tumblr media
The interrogation went as well as Beau could have imagined, he supposed.
Naturally, Andre’s lawyer came in when she was called and Agent Sampson struck some kind of deal. Andre would still have to serve time if your assault was backed up with evidence after all, but he wouldn’t be held accountable for your kidnapping if he agreed to give some kind of information about Ace, Jack and Queen.
Andre confirmed that his cousin was in fact Ace. Turns out that not only was Andre a trash person, but he wasn't exactly a very good brother as well because he threw his very own sister under the bus by revealing Queen to be his sister, Melanie Bolkonsky.
As for Jack... well Jack turned out to be a person named Dolokov Krushnic. He hadn't been involved in this little gang for more than two years but for some reason he made it to the states with Ace and Queen as well as the King.
But frankly, Beau didn't care about all of those details. That was Agent Sampson's territory. All Beau really wanted was Andre taken care of.
The only thing that Beau could say was positive about this situation that Andre would be proven guilty when it came to your assault. He deserved to do some time and Beau was determined to make that happen, at least for your sake. He didn’t want you to ever have to see that man again.
When Beau stepped out of the observation room to clear his head of the fact that Harlen Sampson just made a deal with a devil, he could hear his phone begin to ring. He lifted a brow and fished the device from his pocket before he looked down at the screen, noticing a number he didn’t recognize.
Nonetheless he answered the phone and lifted it up to his ear, “Sheriff Arlen. Who’s this?”
Beau’s eyes widened the moment that he heard your voice on the other line. His heart skipped a beat. You were alive after all! He hoped you were safe and out of harms way at least for the time being.
“Beau? It’s Y/N…”
“Y/N? How did you get to a phone? Are you okay?” Beau asked in a hurry.
“I’m as okay as I can be,” Beau listened, although your connection wasn’t exactly the greatest, “I was able to get away from Ace and Jack. I, uh… I stabbed Jack and I think he needs some serious help.”
“You stabbed someone?” Beau questioned. He wasn’t sure whether to be concerned our proud. Perhaps he was a mix of both at the moment.
‘That’s my girl…’ He thought to himself, proud of you for the self defense and being able to get away.
“Y/N, I need you to tell me where you are. The sooner we get there the sooner that we can come and find you.” Beau insisted.
“They took the van to try and get out of town but the roads were blocked. Then they drove to some back roads. I think I’m close to where Sunny used to have her luxury camp site before it shut down but I can’t tell for sure.” He heard you say and he knew exactly where you were talking about.
“Beau, I’m not sure how to even get back into town from h-“
That was when the line finally cut out and Beau slipped the phone back into his pocket before he looked around and saw Agent Sampson and Jenny walking out of the interrogation room as well.
“Hoyt, we need to head out to where Sunny and her husband used to have their camp grounds.”
“What? Why, did you find something?”
“I just got a call from Y/N. She managed to get away from Ace and Jack and she took one of their phones. She said they were taking some kind of back road and she thinks she’s in that spot. And Sampson, maybe we can track this phone she’s using.” Beau insisted.
“Great, what was the number on the phone?” The agent said and Beau pulled up the number again and forwarded it to him so he could track it down in the computer system.
“Let’s get some back up. We’ll also need to get an ambulance for Jack when we know the location.” The Sheriff said and Jenny looked up at him.
“An ambulance for the kidnapper? We’d better hustle before he’s D.O.A. What happened to him?” She asked as she followed Beau out of the door so they could get to that back road to find you.
“Y/N was in a confrontation and she stabbed him. She told me he needed an ambulance and didn’t know how he was doing.”
Beau heard Jenny chuckle as the two of them got into his truck so they could ride together, “She’s got to be the only kidnap victim I’ve seen that showed concern for her kidnapper after she stabbed him.”
“I think a part of it is because she doesn’t want to get charged for murder or something.”
“Well that I can understand, but I don’t think there will be charges against her considering she was kidnapped, assaulted, and who knows what else could have happened if she stayed longer or even ticked off one of them.” Hoyt said while the sheriff started the car and started driving off.
“Well, at least this is all good news to tell Cadence. I know she’s been worried sick about Y/N. She hasn’t returned to the cafe yet and it’s still closed until we get Y/N back. She said she was determined to see her as soon as we get her back.” Jenny spoke and Beau grinned.
He was just glad that nothing’s happened to your sister and that she was safe for the time being. He was ready to get you home to your sister, ready to get this whole ordeal over with.
Agent Sampson texted Beau the last known location of the phone and sure enough it was on the road that you had described.
“Sampson’s got it, so let’s head over and he said that he’s already on his way with some backup.” Jenny insisted and Beau nodded as he focused on the road.
He was so close yet again and this time, Beau was determined to get you back once and for all. He couldn’t afford to let you slip through his fingertips again.
Not this time.
Tumblr media
When the phone cut out, you cursed and you looked around to make sure that you weren’t followed.
When you felt like you were safe enough to stop walking, you sat down beneath the tree. You were glad you were still holding onto the knife you took from Jack and you were trying to cut your way through the zip ties. It was an awkward angle but you were trying your best to break free without cutting your own skin more than it already was.
Finally you broke free and you discarded the plastic to the side of you and you rubbed your sore wrists. Then you took a deep breath of relief. Then you tried to think of where you could possibly hide incase Jack decided to chase you despite his wound, or if Ace woke up after being knocked out.
You winced as you stood up again. You hadn’t realized how much your muscles started to ache after your endeavors these past few days. Your feet throbbed from walking without shoes. On top of that, it was starting to get cold. You wished you had worn a hoodie when you were kidnapped. Plus, you knew you probably smelled terrible since you hadn’t been able to shower in several days.
That might just be the first thing that you do when you return home after hugging your baby sister…
Cadence.
You wondered how Cadence was doing. Had Beau checked in on her, or Hoyt for that matter? You hoped that she was alright and that she was taking care of herself, despite the circumstances.
You ran your fingers through your matted hair and you decided to start walking again, searching for some sort of cabin that might of been in the area. Surely there was some storage place or something for the campers that was around before Sunny shut down her site. You searched everywhere, cringing every once in a while when you stepped on a twig with a branch facing upwards.
But after a while of walking, you finally came across some kind of shelter to hide in until Beau came to get you. If you were able to stay put anyways.
You walked into the old cabin that was a little dusty since the last time anyone’s been inside was who knows how long. You sat down somewhere else and you simply waited.
Luckily for you, you had a little more hope now than you had this afternoon after that talk with Beau. Now it was only a matter of time before you would be home. Things were finally looking up and you hoped that you wouldn’t have to be on the run again anytime soon. Hope, you supposed, would be the key word.
The moment that you heard thunder, you had a sinking feeling in your chest. While you were running, you had no idea how cloudy it had become. Then, a subtle tapping on the window caused you to turn and look outside.
Looks like you made it to some shelter just in time.
You looked down at your feet and realized that you couldn't exactly feel your toes with how cold it was starting to get. So you started walking around the cabin to see if you could find a pair of socks, or maybe some work boots someone just happened to leave in there.
As you were looking around, you walked passed a mirror. You did a double take when you realized what you walked passed and you decided to take a look at yourself.
You definitely looked like a wreck. Your hair was tangled, you had some circles beneath your eyes from lack of sleep since you were more concerned with escaping. You cringed when you saw some marks on your neck from where Andre had his hands on you. It made you feel so incredibly gross. On the bright side they were starting to fade, but you still wanted to shower more than anything.
You were honestly amazed that you hadn't fallen apart yet. Maybe when you got home, you could take a bath and just let everything out since you haven't had the chance yet.
Thunder rang out and it seemed to echo loudly, causing you to jump back int reality instead of thinking about going home. You walked out of the window to see if you had either been followed or if you could see any officers outside.
'They'll find me. They're on their way now.' You reminded yourself. The thought itself was reassuring.
Tumblr media
Beau and Jenny made it to the last known location of the phone you were using to call and sure enough, Jack was there bleeding and he was lucky the paramedics were right behind the Sheriff and Deputy. They pulled up a few moments after and got to work on getting Jack on the stretcher so they could take him to the hospital.
But there was a problem: Where was Ace?
You said that you had knocked Ace out, so where was his body?
"We need to hurry. Who knows if Ace has found Y/N yet if he's up and at 'em already." Jenny said and Beau nodded as some officers started to scout the area for Ace.
Beau was just glad that he and Jenny knew of this place better than Ace did, considering they had to come through this place for a previous case before they shut the camp grounds down. Now Beau just wondered if you knew this place at least well enough to stay away and hidden from your captors.
"What if she ended up finding the cabin where's Sunny's kid stayed for a while?" Beau asked and Jenny thought about it.
"It's worth a shot. Let's hope she found it before Ace found her." The deputy agreed and the two of them started heading in that direction.
That was when the thunder and the rain started and Beau cursed to himself. This is exactly something they needed while they were on a search. Wonderful.
"Should have brought some kind of umbrella or something." He said and Jenny smiled a little and agreed.
"To be fair, though, the priority wasn't exactly checking the weather." She reminded him, "Let's just hope that we find Y/N soon and that she'll actually be there this time."
"She will be there. She's got to be." Beau insisted.
After all, he and Jenny as well as Agent Sampson all got to the search as soon as they could while some had to stay behind and see what other info they could gather on Andre's little group.
That was when they found the cabin and a sense of relief washed over Beau as he started to run over to it. Then he started hearing a ruckus, other than the thunder that was booming around him.
Beau's eyes widened when he heard the sound of broken glass, as if there was some sort of confrontation coming from the inside. Jenny made it onto the porch as well and judging by the look on her face, Beau knew he wasn't the only one hearing some kind of commotion from the inside.
Beau knocked on the door, "This is Sheriff Arlen. Open the door!" He called on, but there was no answer.
"Well, at least you gave a heads up that you're here." Jenny backed up so Beau would have the room he needed, then Beau used all the force he could and he kicked the door down before going inside with his pistol in front of himself.
The sight in front of Beau naturally had to be alarming.
Ace, though he had an obvious bump on his head from where you had knocked him out, was holding up a knife against your throat as he turned around to face Beau and Jenny.
"Ace, let her go and nobody gets hurt." Beau said sternly.
"You're kidding, right? This bitch stabbed Jack, gave me one Hell of a knot on my head that might be a concussion. She's ruined everything Andre, Melanie and I have built!" Ace said with so much anger.
"You're joking, right? Andre doesn't care about you." Beau said, wondering if the betrayal would be enough to at least get you out of his grasp. "He sold you and Melanie, as well as Jack out just so he can serve less jail time."
"So what? He can get all of us out of this and we can make bail." He said.
"Not this time. What part of sold you out don't you get? The FBI is here and everything, and Andre just handed them all kinds of ammunition against you to put you away not only for Y/N's kidnapping, but for the whole operation." Jenny added.
Ace clenched his jaw before he looked down at you, his gaze turning to a hateful glare, "This is all your fault!"
Just as Ace raised his hand to try and stab you, Beau shot his pistol and wounded Ace in his side. Your assailant dropped the knife in surprise and put a hand to his side, backing away from you.
Jenny jogged over to Ace and told him to put his hands behind his back since he was under arrest for kidnapping.
Everything was happening so quickly for you. You couldn't believe Beau just shot someone and now Jenny was arresting him. But you looked at the sheriff and he rushed over to you.
You did the only thing you could think of to do, and that was to wrap your arms around him and give him the tightest hug that you could, "You found me..."
"I'm sorry that it took so long, Darlin'.. We came as fast as we could." You felt the warmth of his embrace while his arms were wrapped around you and you could feel his head rest on top of yours.
"I'll give you two a minute and get Ace to the paramedic." You could hear Jenny say as she escorted Ace out of the cabin to get him to the car. But you and Beau stayed right there for a moment.
You were grateful that he finally came and rescued you. It gave you an immense peace of mind now that he was there and you wouldn't be in cuffs or zip ties again. You wouldn't be trapped in a basement anymore and you wouldn't have to be on the run in a forest.
You must've been trembling and not have realized it because the next thing you knew, Beau released you from his grasp and he took off his jacket before he wrapped it around your shoulders.
"Come on, let's get you out of here. Wait, what happened to your shoes?" Beau asked you and you looked down at your muddy feet.
"They grabbed me before I could slip on some shoes. Guess they were in a rush." You said with a slight chuckle.
Beau smiled, glad that you still had a little humor left in you despite the circumstances. "Here, let me carry you."
"Beau, you really don't have to do that. I can walk on my own two feet." She said and Beau picked you up anyway.
"Sweetheart, it wasn't a request." He said and your arms naturally wrapped around his neck while your legs dangled from one of his arms. It was sweet that he was doing this but somehow you felt like it was a little unnecessary. You were just another captive and he was just a cop doing his job.
Beau carried you out through the woods and made it to the car. You didn't see Ace and Jack's van anywhere. In fact, you didn't even see the two of them, which was relieving.
"What happened with Jack? I didn't kill him, did I?" You asked as Beau placed you in the car.
"I don't think you did. He's wounded, yeah, but I don't think it was in a fatal spot but the paramedics have him handled. You don't need to worry about him, or Andre for that matter."
You looked up at him almost instantly, “You were able to catch him too?”
“Of course we were, Sweetheart. Although… we do need to take you to the Emergency Room. It’s routine, plus we need for you to do a rape kit.”
That sounded so humiliating, but you knew it was necessary - especially if they needed evidence against Andre. You just hoped that they could get whatever they needed to so Andre would stay away from you.
Luckily for you, the ER visit didn’t take long and when you visited the department to identify Andre as the culprit so they would have an eye witness account on record as well as your statements, they gave you a change of clothes and some shoes that way you had something to take into.
Once all of the ‘protocol’ was taken care of, Beau took you into his car so he could take you home. And you were so excited to be there.
When you made it there, you saw your front door open and Cadence stepped out slowly. When you got out of the car you could see the biggest smile light up your sister’s face as she ran over to you. She have you the biggest hug as she possibly could- although you felt like you couldn’t breathe from how hard she was squeezing.
“Oh my god, I can’t believe you’re home! I’m so glad you’re okay! I’m so sorry that I even suggested that you go on a date with that scumbag! I missed you so much!” Cadence rambled and you hugged her back.
“Cadence, I’m okay. You didn’t know any of this would have happened and neither did I. It’s okay. I’m back home and that’s all that matters.”
When Cadence finally let go of you, she hugged Beau as tightly as she could, “Thank you so much for getting her back! I knew that you would!”
Beau chuckled and gave your sister a little hug and patted her back a little, “Like I would let your sister stay missing.”
“Why don’t you come inside! We need to celebrate the fact that Y/N is back now, and you could use a break while the FBI handles the case from here on out, right?” Your little sister suggested when she let go of the hug.
“I don’t know. That just depends on how Y/N is feeling. She’s had a long several days after all.” The sheriff said and you decided to step over and you held his hand.
“Please? It’s the least we can do after all you’ve done to find me. Maybe we can order a pizza or something while we make some kind of dessert or something like that.” You said.
Of course you were tired and worn out but at the same time, you would feel safer if Beau stayed at least a little longer incase there were other people out there that were a part of Andre’s group. You didn’t know if Queen was out there looking for you or what she would do if she found you.
Beau could tell that you were still a little wary and he gave you a softened smile as he squeezed your hand a little.
“I could go for some pizza. But take it easy, we can always do dessert or something some other time.” He said and you smiled a little. With that, Beau, you and your sister all walked inside the house.
Once you got washed up, you put on fresh clothes of your own. You wore a black hoodie that had your favorite band’s logo, some yoga pants since they were comfortable and stretchy, and you put on a pair of fuzzy socks. Your hair was still damp so you used a claw-clip to put it up so it wouldn’t make your back wet.
When you had changed and returned to the living room, you saw Cadence and Beau on the couch with a spot in between them for you to sit.
“You got out just in time, Sis. Pizza should be here within the next ten minutes or so.” Cadence said. This was probably the happiest you had seen her in a long time.
“That honestly sounds great.” You said with a chuckle and sat down in the space between them.
“I’ll go get us some drinks while we wait. Do you two want anything? Sorry we don’t have the good coffee here Beau otherwise I’d make your usual.” Cadence said and you smiled when you heard Beau let out a chuckle.
“Just some water would be great.” He said and you asked for the same thing. With some pep to her step, Cadence went to the kitchen.
She was never one to be able to sit still when she was excited.
You leaned against Beau and you felt his arm wrap around you. His hold was gentle, different from how your captors handled you. You knew that with Beau, you were safe.
“Thank you… for not giving up on looking for me.” You whispered softly and you could feel him leaning down, only to feel his beard tickling the skin of your temple when he places a soft kiss on the side of your head.
“There’s no way in Hell I’d give up looking for you.” He promised.
Not long afterward, the pizza finally came and the three of you ate together and watched something uplifting. It was an effort to keep your mind off the upcoming court dates and what not that you would have to go through for this ordeal to ensure Andre and his group would go away for good.
Either way, you knew one thing was for sure…
You were more than thankful for Beau Arlen. Deep down even before your sister suggested you go out with Andre, you knew who your heart belonged to even if it was never really spoken.
But most importantly…
You were home.

It had been a week since Sam came to Paris, and she was now trying to save the park trees that were going to be cut down by the end of the month for a building that sells free air. Sam would not let any harm occur naturally, even on another side of the planet.
Besides Chloe, Sabrina, and Lila, Alya and her other classmates decide to help Sam to make petitions to give to the Mayor of Paris so he can stop the tree from being cut down.
Everything was going well on the petition, and they had over 2000 signatures to save the park trees from being cut down. She was at the park with the petition in hand before this happened to her.
"Daddy, there she is. She tries to stop you from building Fresh Air; she needs to be stopped." Chole pointed at Sam.
"Thank you, Pumpkin; I'll take it from here," Andre told her as he went over to the goth. "My daughter told me that you're trying to make a petition to stop the trees being cut down for the new Project Oxygen building."
"That's right, and I want to give you these petitions so you can't cut down these trees for a building, especially one completely useless." So Sam gave him the papers. However, the Mayor tore the papers in half. "Hey!" Sam yelled.
"I'm sorry, miss, but this petition cannot stop the building of Project Oxygen. These people have jobs to do, families to feed, and homes to pay for. This petition means nothing against the various companies and forces that already have things underway."
"You can't do this!" Sam yelled at the Mayor.
"I have, and you will not stop Project Oxygen from happening, not now or ever." The Mayor said as he left, while Chloe gave a smug grin at Sam before following her father.
Sam felt angry that idiot of a mayor ruined her hard work. She growled at the Mayor as he worked away. She wanted revenge on him.
Even here, the government keeps trying to get in my way! She thought angrily.
The goth girl then grabbed a megaphone that she bought a few days ago from her backpack and started to yell, "Stop Project Oxygen," repeatedly.
The Mayor saw this and decided to call Roger Raincomprix to get her to stop her protesting against Project Oxygen.
Roger came to the park and grabbed Sam by the wrist.
"Hey, let me go!" Sam yelled at the cop,
"I'm sorry young lady; you have to vacate the premises. You're not allowed to protest Project Oxygen on the Mayor's orders," Roger told her.
"I can say whatever I want," Sam retorted
"You can't say it here, miss," Roger said and took Sam out of the park.
"I'm only going to give you a warning. Don't protest, or I'll have to drive you back home. Do you understand?"
This made Sam even angrier than ever because all the hard work that everyone did was gone, and she was unable to protest about it. Instead, she grips the megaphone tightly.
Hawkmoth's Lair
The darkroom lit up with light as the window shaped like a butterfly opened up. The butterflies flew away when the light hit them. The villains Mayura and Hawkmoth felt the negative emotions of Sam and were ready to Akumatized Sam.
"Well, what do we have here? Is someone new? And hating how authority abuses its power?" Hawk Moth asks." This is the perfect chance to strike Mayura."
"Yes, Hawkmoth, we will win and have the Miraculous of the Cat and the Ladybug," Mayura added.
A butterfly flew onto Hawkmoth's hand, and Mayura plucked a feather off her fan. Both of the villains cover the butterfly and feather with their other hand then the feather and butterfly turn dark black.
"Fly away from my little Akuma and evilize that nature-loving girl," Hawkmoth demanded.
"And Flutter away my Amok and enhance those emotions," Mayura said.
As Sam growled, gripping her megaphone tighter, she didn't notice the purple butterfly or blue feather flying into her device. Instead, within seconds she heard voices in her head as her eyes darkened.
"Greetings, Ragtash! We are Hawkmoth and Mayura. I understand you want to protect the environment. You can make the environment protect itself with your words! Go forth and defend nature, and if you want to go the extra mile, I can assure the protection of the trees. First, you have to get me Ladybug's and Chat Noir's miraculous." Hawkmoth wickedly smiled as he spoke.
"And take this amok. Let your anger and rage make it grow as you command. Your Treantrance," Marius continued with a sly smile.
"They've to listen now with this now they have to listen to me," Sam began to transform into Ragtash and the creation of the Sentimonster.
Amity Park museum
Danny went back to the Egypt exhibit. But, first, he had to find out why Hotep-Ra was after Marinette, something she might know.
"Danny, shouldn't we head back to the group?" Marinette asked.
"In a little bit Marinette, I have to find out why that ghost was after you so that it won't happen again," Danny answered.
"R-Really?" Marinette asked nervously.
"Yeah... and this was the exhibit he popped back to life in, so maybe there's a clue here." He explained as he took out his phone and took pictures of both the sarcophagus and some tablets.
It made Marinette worried that Danny might find out that she is Ladybug, so she had to think of something to get Danny off that trail. Then an idea came to her.
"Paulina said there was going to be a dance this Friday. So are you going to the dance, Danny?" Marinette asked, trying to get Danny from finding out she was Ladybug.
Danny pulled away and started thinking.
"Well, since the last time I went to a dance, Paulina asked me to go with her, and she only did that so she could spit Sam for calling her shallow and had no problem turning her back on me," Danny explained.
"That's just awful, and she shouldn't have done that. You're such a nice guy, and you shouldn't be treated that way. You deserve someone who wants to go with you." Marinette said.
"I can't believe I still had a crush on her after that whole thing. I'm never getting back in those months of my life," Danny said.
"How long did took you to get over Paulina?" Marinette asked him.
"Well, it took about three or four months to get over her, and it was really hard to get over her, mostly because she was that hot," Danny told Marinette.
"I can understand that because I'm trying to get over someone too, and it's too hard." Marinette thought about her crush on Adrien.
"Was that person nice, Marinette? Or was he just a jerk," Danny asked, wanting to know if the person that Marinette was trying to get over.
"No, Adrien is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. The only reason why I was trying to get over him was that he liked someone else over me. I don't know who, but it's clear who he's at least not in love with." Marinette explained.
Marinette's face lowered, and it took on a more heartbroken look when she felt a hand on hers, making her look up and see it was Danny doing the deed.
"Well, if this Adrien can't see how fun, nice, and pretty you are... it's his loss. Maybe give him till College to figure that out?" He suggests playfully.
Hearing that, Marinette smiled warmly.
"Thank you..."
Danny looked around and nodded contently.
"So... I'm all done. And speaking of that dance... do you... wanna... umm..." He started before turning as red as Ladybug's suit.
"Do I what?" Marinette asks.
"Well, since we're living under the same roof for now... wanna... be my date?" He asks.
"Yeah, I'll go with you to the dance," Marinette answered.
Danny gave Marinette a big smile that made her blush red, then her suit.
came and told the two that it was time to head back to school.
A few hours later
It was now three-thirty, and school let out. So Danny and Marinette headed home.
As the two made it to Fenton Works, Marinette remembered that Danny had pictures of the sarcophagus and the tablets. So, Marinette had to find a way to get rid of those photos. So Danny didn't learn her secret.
Okay... what do I do? Marinette thought.
"You okay?" Danny asks, noticing how quiet she is.
Marinette gasped upon realizing how she was saying nothing.
"I'm fine. Really..." She said.
Danny didn't look like he believed her but shrugged.
As they got into Fenton Works, Marinette went into her room and tried to think about how they could get those photos.
Okay... how do I get those photos? I could just go in while he's asleep...
But unfortunately, her thoughts were interrupted by the cat alarm she had started meowing.
"Oh no, not an Akuma, not now..." Marinette said before a thought came to her. "Wait... how am I gonna handle an Akuma on the other side of the world?"
As she asked herself, Tikki flew out of her bag once it was clear it was safe to come out. "Calm down, Marinette. We have to Horse Miraculous to get to Paris..." Her Kwamii reminded her.
"You're right, Tikki!" Marinette said, forgetting that she asked to take the horse with her if Paris was in danger while she was gone.
Now she has to think of a way to get out of the house and transform into Ladybug. So Marinette got out of her room and tried to sneak out quietly before passing Danny's room.
"Danny, be right back..." Marinette said in a whisper tone.
"Marinette!" Tikki said to her partner.
"Oh right, sorry," Marinette snapped out of it.
As she left and when to the front door, Danny's Ghost Sense went off.
"Again?" Danny asks as he looks around to see what ghost triggered his Ghost Sense.
When he opened his door, he saw Marinette going down the hallway, then she went downstairs and to the front door, leaving the house.
Where is she going? He thought.
Quietly, he left his room and followed her, knowing how bad it might look if she spotted him.
"I'm not following her because I like her; I'm only following her because I want to protect her from any other ghost from attacking her. Yeah, that's right, even though she's really pretty and nice." Danny tried to convince himself he wasn't doing anything wrong.
As he used his intangibility and invisibility to follow the French girl, Danny noticed something flying out of her purse as the streets were empty. He saw a small red bug thing following her.
What the heck? He thought.
So far as he saw that the bug-like thing wasn't dangerous to Marinette because it wasn't attacking her or anything, but what it was doing with her and why she wasn't bothered was what he was more curious about.
As Marinette hid in the alleyway, she opened the box that held the horse Miraculous. A small ball of light circled Marinette before dimming down and revealing it as a small horse-like being. It causes Danny's ghost sense to go off again.
"Wait, are those ghosts with Marinette?" Danny asked himself.
"Tikki, Kaalki! Dual Metamorphosis!" Marinette said as two lights enveloped Marinette. After the light dimmed down, her suit was red with black spots. The front of the suit was white with a white horseshoe over her chest. Most of her upper arm and sides are dark brown, while the rest of her forearms and hands are white with dark brown. Her legs were white, with the soles of her feet being dark brown. She had two red ribbons that tied her hair into a ponytail.
Danny was amazed at what he saw.
Sam is now akumazited and Marinette is heading back to Paris to save the day. What is Danny going to do? Well you going to find out next time.
