I watched a very dark episode of classic neighbours last night

I remember when Izzy “Harlot” Hoyland hung up on Karl when he was having a heart attack. And Jesus Christ. Jim’s death was so much worse somehow. What kind of evil, soulless, cow stands by while the man they supposedly love dies then proceeds to financially rip off his corpse. And THEN. She manipulates events so Jim’s sister in law is the “first” to “discover” his dead body. Then she had the absolute gall to play victim when Jim’s daughter rightly tore into her. Paul Robinson may be morally bankrupt. But he ain’t got shit on Fiona Hartman, Izzy Hoyland and Nicolette Stone the Resident Psychopaths of Ramsey Street. If one things for sure though. Then it’s that I pity Helen Daniels and all the crap that woman had to go through in a measly 12 1/2 years. I’m honestly surprised that she only died in 1997. A lesser woman would’ve copped it in 1990. That lady was truly a stalwart of the show

The Oscars were held on April 25. It was a bit of a yawner and why would a show set themselves up for an awkward end?? There was a commercial from P&G right before the broadcast that stated, “ Widen the screen so we can widen our view.” Nice sentiment.  Mank had so many noms and only 2 wins. People looking their best to me were Leslie Odom Jr., Glenn Close, Riz Ahmed, LaKeith Stanfield, Colman Domingo, John Batiste, Mia Neal, Questlove (gold crocs and a mask!), Desmond Roe, Travon Free, Trish Summerville, Marlee Matlin, The Lucas Brothers, Andra Day, Carey Mulligan, Amanda Seyfried, Nicolette Robinson, Regina King and Margot Robbie. Laura Dern looked like Big Bird, there were just too many feathers. Tiara Thomas had feathers but they looked great.  Angela Bassett had some power sleeves and Tyer Perry looked like a little boy.  Hooray for Emerald Fennell for her win for original screenplay but not sure about the dress. And Viola Davis?? Dana Murray?? Ashley Fox?? Hmm?? Winners seemed to have trouble getting to the stage. They often refused the steps or the walkway and sort of climbed up the side. I did love the intimate setting and it did remind me of the old clips of years before. Sound of metal and Ma Rainey both won. Tyler Perry and for the first time, an organization, the motion picture and television fund, took home the humanitarian award. I was thrilled to see My Octopus Teacher win for Doc. I loved Crip Camp too, that was a hard category.  The acting winners went in all directions.  Many critics complained that the films were real downers . Nomadland won best picture. Michael Moore put it best I think. Of the films this year, he said, “They force you to look backward with 2021 eyes.”

It’s rumored that Paradise Valley, Nevada, was anything but a paradise in its heyday. A town overrun by crooks and criminals all looking to make a quick buck, the desert oasis was known for its seedy residents. But it died out somewhere along the way, the cowboy life losing its appeal over the years. Only once structure remains standing in town, Silver Spur Ranch, an old ranch that’s since ben converted into a hotel and tourist attraction. You can pose with your kid’s neck hanging out of the stockades, swing fake lassos, go for horseback rides with an old mare named Hallie that’ll try to bite your fingers off. It’s all corny and a trap for visitors without anything better to do on the outskirts of Vegas.

The school year has barely started, and already the students are itching to get out of Vermont. Hence why a group of wealthy Kincaid students pooled their parent’s money to rent out the ghost town and tourist trap for the weekend. A sucker for aesthetics, they picked Paradise Valley for its lurid and gory lore. Tales are told around campfires about the numerous ghosts said to haunt the family-oriented ranch at night, all victims of executions performed during the golden days of its outlaw past. The most famous ghost to haunt the ranch is Sally, a Kissin’ Kate Barlow-style cowgirl who died on the premises of Silver Spur. Many have claimed to hear her screeches and moans ringing through the night. Or maybe they just drank too much tequila. The students will be staying in four different cabins on the ground, each cheesily named after a famous cowboy or outlaw. They also have free run of the main ranch house, barn, western-style saloon, and rolling desert fields that surround the ranch. Yeehaw.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills S09E02 Review

I love when Lisa V and Kyle get together. These two ladies always have a blast, just the two of them, and the opening of episode two’s scenes are no exception. Kyle pops over to Vila Rosa and the two ladies make their way to some sort of “make me look like I’m not 50, please” clinic. I suspect that in Beverly Hills, these clinics are similar to when Starbucks came around - one keeps popping up in every corner.

After being offered laughing gas by a man who looks 30 but is probably 60, Lisa V giggles her ass off, wriggling around in the surgeon’s chair whilst Dr Ken doll periodically jabs her neck with a syringe full of filler. What I like about Kyle and Lisa V is, while I know they’re both a fan of Botox, they don’t go overboard by injecting themselves with fillers that puff their faces up to look like they had a hard night on the town. I never understood why older women like this look and I’m thankful that Courtney Cox had all of her fillers dissolved.

Lisa R, Dorit and Erika prove that they were the only three people available for filming that day as they were thrust together for a restaurant scene. Erika takes MVP in this episode for being a woman after my own heart and ordering a beer - “anything in a bottle,” she tells the waitress while Lisa R and Dorit applaud her brave choice and reminisce of the times when they were poor and had no choice but to do keg stands.

I was wondering how they were going to segue into talking about a “girls trip.” Dorit laments the stressful time she’s had lately with the robbery (even though she escaped to do an Eat, Pray, Love scenario in Utah) and the dog saga. “Why don’t we have a girls trip?” She unsurprisingly suggests. I was taken aback that a trip was mentioned when were only two episodes in, but we quickly learn that this is not the “main” girls trip, just the entreè. After throwing around Lake Tahoe (where Erika thinks she may have a house) and other various locations around the US (where Erika may or may not have a house), Dorit suddenly remembers that her sister had just gotten back from a new resort in the Bahamas. Translation: This new resort wanted to put their business out there so approached Bravo and offered an all expense paid trip if they mention the resort name a few hundred times.

So it’s settled, then. Bahamas it is and all the girls are contractedly invited by Dorit. Yes, even Teddy, PK.

Teddy and Lisa R take a hike up one of the many mountain trails in LA. Teddy confides that she, like many other young girls, had originally moved to LA to become an actress. After being disheartened by hearing from her agent that the feedback from casting directors was that she needed to lose weight, Teddy spiraled into an unhealthy eating habit and gained even more weight. This event kick started her healthy eating and exercise regime and out of it grew her accountability business. I have to say, I didn’t quite understand what she did for a living - kind of like a toss up between a personal trainer and a life coach but I am completely for it now. Sometimes you just need a stranger to kick your ass and encourage you. I didn’t much care for Teddy last season but she’s truly come into her own on season 9. This is why I think you should give the new girl a second season as you never really get their full personality until the next season in and they’re more comfortable telling the other ladies where to shove it. Of course there are exceptions to this rule *cough* Kim Fields *cough*. *cough* Peggy Sulhain *cough*.

On the opposite side of the eating disorder scale, Lisa R chats honestly with her daughter (I wanna say Amelia?) about her eating disorder. Amelia’s not Lisa R’s. I don’t really follow much of these ladies outside of the show but apparently Amelia developed anorexia which she has come out of but is still working on. Good luck, Amelia, on your journey and well done for publicly telling your story as many girls and boys go through this illness. I won’t mention the flashback of Katherine joking that Lisa R doesn’t like to eat. Okay I’ll mention it, because we were all concerned that Lisa R had food issues on previous seasons where she turned down or barely nibbled on food that was offered to her. While she denies having an eating disorder, I’m glad to see her enjoying food this season. Maybe in previous seasons she had eaten before filming?

We also did not have to wait long until we hear from actual Charlie Sheen himself, even if it is via phone call. Denise lives in Malibu on a beautiful beach house. This is my favourite house out of the RHOBH castmates as, while smaller than the others mansions, it has the beach right at their doorstep and I’m a whore for the beach. Anyway, we are introduced properly to Denise’s newish beau, Aaron. He does some sort of body alignment thing - can’t be bothered learning what he does just yet. They seem good together, I suppose. Denise has three girls, two with Charlie and one she adopted. I did actually hear the rumour Denise jokes about that her adopted daughter, Eloise, is Charlie’s child with a stripper. *Cackle* I don’t believe it, of course, but it’s one of those rumours that, if turned out to be true, you would shrug and say “meh, I kinda figured.”

Denise reminds her daughter, Lola, that she can’t date until she’s 16 which she brands unfair (I can’t wait until my daughter is a teen). Denise then keeps her promise to the producers that she can get Charlie on the show by prompting her daughter to call him to ask about the upcoming homecoming dance and whether she can go with a boy. Charlie sounded good on the phone - clean, coherent and just like a Dad kept his place as the “fun parent” and promptly passed the rule making back to Denise. Insert anti climatic sound here.

Moving on, Kyle visits Mauricio at work where she has a waahh moment thinking about her third daughter moving out and off to college. Mauricio, typical man that he is, tries to comfort her by doing good news, bad news and reminding her that she’s done this twice already with their two older girls. Thanks, Mauricio.

Continuing with the food theme, Lisa R invites the ladies over where she has a chef round to guide them on stuffing chocolate heart molds with candy. I’m waiting for one of them to bring Gordon Ramsey round while he berates them as they try to debone a chicken.

Present are Erika, Denise, Dorit and Camille who I guess is on now as a friend of the cast mates but kind of a series regular without the corny tag line.

While Erika once again claims my heart by devouring cake and matter of factly stating that these ladies should just “eat the fucking cake, who cares,” the ladies quickly discuss their sex life. Denise confides that she hooked up with Aaron fairly quickly after visiting his clinic and fucking him in his office. For some reason Erika states that this image is up there with her favourite porn. Actually, come to think of it, it does sound like a cheesy porn scene. Woman with insanely large breasts visits doctor with insanely large... muscles...

Teddy tells the group that she met her husband coming out of a nightclub and she sealed the deal with him that night. High five, girlfriend! As someone who shagged their fiancé on their first “date” sometimes when you know, you know. Or in my case, are just a horny bitch. Teddy states that she and her husband have sex about twice a week. This earns shocked gasps from some of the ladies as Denise tells us in her confessional that she and Aaron have sex everyday. Ahh the throes of early love. How exhausting. Despite the outrage, I note that it’s radio silence from Erika and Dorit.

The biggest gossip we hear, and proving my comment on my blog from episode 1 that everyone is six degrees separated from each other in Hollywood, Denise tells us that Aaron is still married yet has been separated for two years. Lisa R adds that Aaron’s ex is Nicolette Sheridan who Lisa R’s husband, Harry Hamlin, used to be married to. She then took up with Michael Bolton immediately after the concert, dumping poor Harry Hamlin. The ladies raise their champagne flutes, toasting the oblivious Miss Sheridan for giving Lisa R Harry Hamlin and their two kids. I sipped my own beer in a bottle. Not as a toast but in commiseration to Harry Hamlin for putting up with Lisa R for so long.

Finally the ladies are ready to head off to the Bahamas. No cattle class for these ladies - not even first class. Bravo (or the new Bahamas resort) splashed out for a private jet to escort the ladies. Lisa V continues her British dark humour by boarding the plane and telling Dorit that she had “gotten something right for once.” I know some people may consider her mean but I think she’s a riot. And I can see that most of the time she’s just taking the piss (mostly). It was kind of mean (but mostly funny) when Dorit asked Lisa V to room with her in her suite and Lisa V reacted with horror. I’m still trying to decide whether Lisa V was joking or not when she mentioned Dorit’s snoring and gas issues as the reason for not wanting to board with her. She even asked for swapsies. Okay, since Dorit (and the Bahamas tourism board) planned this trip, it was kind of mean. But still fucking hilarious.

This episode, to be honest, seemed like a filler episode (even without Lisa V’s neck lift). Not much happened but I guess it helped build up the upcoming episodes. Can’t wait to see what kind of mischief these ladies get up to on tour!

A childish shriek accompanied by stomping of tiny feet distracts Ethan before his daughter sprints into his home office. Patient files scattered all over the impressive wooden desk demand his meticulous attention, but Letty’s seriousness steals it with zero effort. The plastic tiara glimmering in her taffy brown hair only accentuates the girl's superior power.

„We have a mission, daddy.”

An unspoken order follows the brief announcement: her short arms reach out to daddio, and in one swift movement he sits her on his lap.

Big, jasper green eyes stare at Ethan as Nicolette cuddles up to him, worry and determination flickering in them almost too familiar, too precious, flooding his heart with overwhelming warmth.

„What’s the matter, my queen?”

The five-year-old readjusts her crown, sighing deeply.

„Mommy is sad. She says the baby bump makes her look like…” Letty trails off, scrunching up her nose as she tries to recollect the exact phrase she must’ve overheard earlier. „Like…Like she’s about to transform into a balloon on the verge of exploding.”

The corners of Ethan’s mouth quirk up just as the blissful memory of his heavily pregnant wife waddling around their kitchen this morning flashes through his mind. His fingertips still carry the softness of her skin, reminiscing the sheer beauty of every divine curve. She’s perfect with all her imperfections—his very own goddess of both chaos and order, the vision he’s lucky to experience in all her glory until the end of his days.

He cups Letty’s cheek with a loving smile tugging at his lips. „Your mommy would make the most beautiful balloon, if that were the case.”

„The most beautiful, yes!” She repeats his words with contagious excitement. „We need to tell her she’s the most beautiful mommy balloon ever.”

„I suppose that you already have a plan?”

„Yes!” Wasting no time, Letty rummages in her fluffy unicorn bag for the necessary equipment. A moment later, she pushes the medical documentation over like it’s useless trash to make some room for glitter, colorful pens and mini notebook smelling of roses. “We’ll leave notes everywhere in the house.”

With a wide, victorious grin that doesn’t accept rejection, Letty presents her father with a bright red pen and a shiny piece of paper.

Ethan has no choice but to forget about his work for a while and focus on this new, extremely urgent assignment.

“Write: you’re the most beautiful mommy balloon.”

Ethan knows better than to let the sudden urge to snort with laughter take charge—the vivid image of Tiffany’s face reading this delightful message almost crushes his steely facade.

“I have another idea.” He offers, clashing with his daughter’s piercing gaze. “Why don’t we go with: you’re always beautiful?”

Letty scans his features with the most adorable frown, the gears in her head analyzing the proposition. After a quick yet thorough assessment, she nods with a beam all but identical to Tiffany’s.

“We have to draw a heart too.” She adds, watching every move of Ethan’s hand as he makes an effort to shape every letter.

“Will you show me how to draw a perfect heart?” At that, Letty rolls her eyes as if she couldn’t believe that her dad—her beloved, genius, know-it-all daddio—lacks this particularly easy skill.

“It’s very simple, look.” Right above the elegantly written sentence, a pink glittery heart appears like the sun supporting each day with its light.

Like his daughter’s heart sharing her mother’s exceptional kindness.

“Do you think mommy will like it?”

“It’s the prettiest heart I’ve ever seen.” Ethan admits, kissing Letty’s forehead. “She’ll love it.”

I’ve been watching classic neighbours on freevee

I’ve just watch The Wedding. And as always. I have some observations I’d like to make.

I think it was a mistake to have only the iconic episodes in the first bundle. For example. It goes from episode 1 straight to episode 171, leaving swathes of story out and requiring us to fill in the gaps through references within the dialogue. Plus. They also leave certain episodes out. Like Madge’s death for instance. Which is one of my earliest memories of watching the show.

Eight years after I first watched it during the 30th anniversary. It is still vaguely terrifying to see Paul Robinson be delivered to his father, drunk and wearing nothing but a baby bonnet and a nappy. Funny. But terrifying

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Paul got his serial romancer tendencies from his own grandmother. But at least Helen was treated sympathetically.

Nicolette Godforsaken Stone is truly Nell Mangel’s great granddaughter. Right up to Jane defending her when she doesn’t deserve it. And I mean this in the most damning way possible. Apart from Stone’s sexual orientation of course. Which is the only thing I respect about her. Her actions and personality are what she should’ve fried for. Especially her biphobia. Which was never fucking addressed.

I’ve only ever seen the episode that covers the actual wedding. So seeing the other four episodes was fun. Especially Harold’s downright horrified look when Mangel caught the bouquet. Although now I’m wondering who Scott and Charlene named Daniel after. It was either Helen Daniels, Charlene’s grandfather/Madge’s father Dan or Madge’s nephew Danny. Three options. I wonder who they chose.

It was fun seeing Lucy as a mostly innocent if mischievous kid before she tries to bed her bastard half brother Glen Donnelly. It’s nice.

It’s AMAZING matching the houses up to the 2010’s-2020’s. Like. Where I am right now. Des, Daphne and Mike lived in what end up being the Kennedy house. The Robinson’s lived in the Canning house. I think Jane Harold and Mangel lived in the Rebecchi house. Paul and Gail lived in the Willis house. And I think the Ramsey’s lived in what became the Brennan house. All that beige and grey is a tiny bit of a Technicolor nightmare. Mostly because I’m used to the age of mobile phones. But it is oh so fun.

It was good to see that Hilary could put the fear of god into Paul even in the 1980’s. But she also seriously needed to shut up because I could tell that Helen and Madge were half a second away from beating her to death with rolling pins.

I don’t know wether it was the makeup or the way they did her hair. But Gail really used to look like Rizzo era Stockard Channing.

I loved the watching up to The Wedding. And I’m definitely looking forward to watching the rest of the bundle. It’s just a little disappointing that they don’t have the Kennedy’s arrival or Madge’s death in it that’s all.

“So Nicolette…is this the special man you’ve been hiding from us for so long?”

Nicolette’s mother gives Ethan a long appreciative once over and her pale orange eyebrows raise in genuine curiosity, as if what she found was highly interesting and acceptable in her eyes. A flash of mischief flits through the middle-aged woman’s eyes and Ethan almost had to swallow against a nervous lump in his throat at the expression. “I gotta tell you, honey,” She says lightly, almost conversational. “You picked a good one.”

Ethan doesn’t have time to gauge the reaction of either his girlfriend’s mother saying those words so shamelessly or of Nicolette dropping her head into her hands and sighing, ‘oh my god’ in the most embarrassed tone he’d ever heard her mutter. Ethan would laugh at it if the room wasn’t so silent… so silent that if he strained his ears enough he could hear a pin drop three floors down.

Nathaniel Jonah

The first kinder surprise was a high-risk pregnancy with a rather turbulent management, so picking up names wasn’t on the long list of E&T’s concerns.

Tiffany chose both last-minute, and Ethan didn’t oppose even though naming children after parents or other family members didn’t sit well with him.

A bigger issue awaited him as soon as NJ was born: ‚Nathaniel’ sounds an awful lot like ‚Nathan’, and Nathan just happens to be Tiffany’s childhood bestie and first boyfriend…They obviously had a serious talk about the matter. Tiffany argued that these are two completely different names and it didn’t even occur to her that ‚Nathaniel’ might in any way tie their firstborn to her ex. Assured that it was just a coincidence, Ethan rose above his pride and didn’t opt for a name change.

This time around, the surprise wasn’t as terrifying and E&T agreed to pick the names together three months into the pregnancy.

The core principle was to choose something unique—a name that none of the people in their lives has, something that sounds and feels right. As you can imagine, Ethan had a hard time processing the second part, but in the end everything clicked and he understood the assignment. A few weeks of brainstorming resulted in two sets of names.

Fun fact: Tiffany was a bit disappointed that she didn’t manage to sneak FC Ramsey kdhdkdhkdhd But she got her mini-me instead 🥰

Aine Celine

Third time’s a charm—the last pregnancy ride was planned for a change. The names, however, arrived almost too late.

Tiffany insisted on an Irish name to make her beloved Nanna’s wish come true and honor their roots. Ethan was happy to indulge, but the task was much harder than it seemed: finding a suitable name with a not-too-confusing pronunciation took months.

He had to veto the first contestant, 'Siobhan'. „We’re not naming our daughter after a fictional character.” Tiffany was shocked to find out he was referring to the iconic Siobhan ‚Shiv’ Roy from Succession, a show Ethan supposedly refused to watch when she binged it years ago kshkshdkhjk

Out of ideas, they decided to ruin the surprise and asked T’s Nanna for help. Fiona saved them with a simple and elegant name both Ethan and Tiffany instantly liked. 'Celine' was an addition offered by NJ and Letty. E&T knew that the choice was influenced by Celine Dion, but they pretended to be clueless about it and allowed their contribution.

Nicolette is more known as Letty—Tiffany came up with the nickname, inspired by Ethan’s complete devotion to his daughter. He lets her do anything ksgkshdkbd We cannot blame him though, she is just like her mother. Only a bit crazier and infinitely more chaotic lol

Aine is an absolute angel, very calm and creative. Her name is a tribute to T’s Irish roots, given as a gift to her beloved Nanna.

I have their characters outlined quite vividly in my head, but I’m still undecided when it comes to the girls and their future. I’ll try to drop a more detailed HC as soon as I get everything right! 🥰
