It’s so hard to pick!!!!!!!!!

I saw that Alex was wearing the LYR jacket yesterday so I decided to go watch some music videos from that time. I forgot how much I loved that era; the aesthetics, easter eggs, the roses, great hair all around, I even made my own jacket I was that excited. All the videos have something you can take away from them. Dirty Laundry gives a small insight into Alex’s life, LYR is just a fun time highlighting being young and carefree, LOTP shows a little of the tour party life and its consequences, Nice2KnoU is just them going around Baltimore and reminiscing. As much as I enjoy their weird funny music videos, I think I prefer these more serious artistic ones (please bring Pat Tracy back for some videos). I completely forgot about the quote at the end of Good Times - ‘When the night is dark enough the stars shine out.’ I loved that!! They should do more videos with shots from tour. The Drugs and Candy one was really fun. And I can’t forget the video for Afterglow that was shot in London. I went to that show and it was the best! Freezing outside in snow for hours but it was worth it for the two sets because they were opening with the whole of SWIR. I guess this is my love letter to LYR music videos 🥰

LYR really was a great era (even if Jack was weird during it and Rian and Cass broke up during that time). I know a lot of people don’t like it, but I love that album and the aesthetic. And they were all SO fucking hot the entire time. Especially Jack, of course, but man, all four of them were slaying. Dirty Laundry is my favorite music video from that time, but I felt like LOTP and Good Times were videos where they really tried to say something in a way that hadn’t before and I liked that a lot.

look I love last young renegade so much it’s literally my second favorite album of ALL TIME. it is going to be very difficult to pick a favorite and least favorite song for this one.

this is so difficult because the entire lyr album is literally what I strive for in life like I WANT that feeling I WANT that big living full of joy and emotion of the life you’re living feeling, it’s so so good. If I had to pick a least favorite on the album I guess I’d pick Nice2KnoU, not because I don’t like it (for the record, I love it, it’s just not one of my favorites). it’s the only really rock song on the album and I guess it’s just kind of jarring to go to that straight from the gentle outro of good times.

favorite song… I wish the b sides were on Spotify, because Chemistry is one of my favorite songs by all time low (and speaking of which, they should put Chemistry and Vampire Shift and I Hate That For You and Actors all on Spotify, like, seriously). if I can’t choose b sides then I guess I’d say musically Life Of The Party is my favorite song. something something the desperation of Alex’s voice in the bridge, it feels like everything I want to be is looking back at who I am right now and saying, you’ll get there. I really love it a lot. But also, I REALLY love dark side of your room, the composition of it is just incredible and the bassline in the beginning feels like it’s going straight through my soul. so basically it’s really hard to pick but those are my three favorites?

Hey! I like, only today got caught up (i.e. listened to Sleepwalking and Tell Me I’m Alive) Personally, something about Sleepwalking just totally grabbed me by the throat— maybe the beginning, or the fact that one commenter said it had Time Bomb energy and Time Bomb is a forever-favorite. The autotuned bit of TMIA didn’t really do it for me personally, as well as the tempo not quite matching the live-fast-die-hard attitude it’s about. (I think Nice2KnoU did that better.) All just my opinions and if Lisa and Alex are back together and having fun in Japan, more power to them (although I do envy Lisa for having pink hair and being in Japan lmao) Regardless, I hope you have a dope ass day/week/month/year and I’ll continue to use you as a source for what’s going on with TMIA the album!
