I saw a screenshot of Excalibur (1981). Have some Glass Briars in these times of shadow.

Portrait I drew tonight of Cinderella from d20 Neverafter looking badass af in her glass armor
[ID: digitally painted color portrait of Cinderella looking at the viewer with a noble/bold expression. She is surrounded by a golden border, backed with storybook pages, and her name is written in big cursive letters above her head.]
(credit to @AFantastique on pinterest for the reference image and the grimm brothers version of Cinderella for the story pasted behind her. )

I'm also just. I'm just thinking. About how Cinderella clearly had a husband that she left once she 'woke up' to how the world was. and how when she was talking to Rosamund it was clear that she has a difficult relationship with love as a concept. And how she's a princess in shining (glass) armour, a clear role reversal of a knight in shining armour. And how when Rosamund wanted Timothy's book to show her a Prince she saw Cinderella. And how in the space between lives Cinderella climbed her tower. And 'woke her up' to how the world works. Just thinking about the parallels. And the homosexuality of it all.

I love that right now it feels like ylfa is in opposition to Cinderella in their goals. Like, Cinderella is desperate to get out of her story so she can have her mother back, she’s so against the regular beats of her story because it’s brought her so much pain. On the contrary, ylfa is desperate to get back to her “normal” and “correct” story because the one she’s being forced to live causes her so much pain.
Is there a right answer? They both deserve happiness as much as the other. But I find a bit of my answer in little ms muffet, who chooses having a spider for a head over her fear, and a little more of my answer is the brilliant role playing of Emily axford, who as ylfa insists she is the corrupting force and that she has done something wrong, that there is a fundamental problem with her when as we’ve already learned there’s actually a fundamental problem with the world.
Will ylfa and Cinderella get their own happy endings? Does this post make sense? Will senator the ram ever return? I guess we’ll never know.

I would like to reach out my hand to the little girl and say “Little girl, are you lost?”
Anyway here’s my little homage to the season finale of Neverafter (very late, I know, but life has been very busy ok). It was a wild, heart-shattering ride but god did I enjoy it <3
