#nerf sniper battle
Text
killed it at nerf wars tonight. I have prescription plastic lenses, impeccable aim, and no fear. I may get hit in the process but I'm taking more down with me when I go

Some Old Favorites
I was reminiscing, looking back through my masterlists, and I wanted to reshare some smutty fics. They didn’t get a lot of love back in the day because I didn’t have many readers yet. Some of you have found them and loved to read them as much as I loved to write them. But I wanted to share them with some of my new friends/followers too. Happy Reading!
Tumblr media
DC Comics:
Two Hoods, One Revenge: The reader has nightmares of the day that turned her into a vigilante. Jason helps her keep them at bay; first with soothing words, then with something more hot and heavy.
Hickey Victory: Dick gets his hands on a marshmallow gun… but he forgets about your nerf gun stash. Shenanigans occur.
A Night at the Theater: A mission demands the public appearance of Bruce Wayne and yourself at a theater. The mission is quickly put to rest, which leaves you plenty of time to appreciate your husband during intermission.
A Nightly Affair: Nightwing keeps mistaking your apartment for his and you two grow very close. Very. Close. So close as to put you in danger, unless Nightwing can find you first. [Series Masterlist]
Marvel:
In the Eye of the Beholder: Part 1 | Part 2 : The reader gives an unexpected lap dance. Bucky approves.
All in a Night’s Work: The reader come face to face with the sniper that has been evading them for years. When things don’t go according to plan, Loki distracts them till they can get some much-needed rest.
Dirty Lips: When Y/N introduces a swear jar to the team, Steve takes it upon himself to fill it all by himself.
To Love the Sea: Y/N is the daughter of a sea-side innkeeper. The area is known for its draw for pirates, but one pirate is feared above all others: Captain Loki. He offers to take her on adventures; is she willing to take the plunge? [Series Masterlist]
Supernatural:
The Pointy End: You are research headquarters at the bunker while Dean, Sam, and occasionally Cas, are on cases. Dean comes home to you after a very long case, with a surprise. (My very first fic!)
Deep in the Archives: Sam takes the reader to a rare books library while they look for a spell book not at the bunker. The reader is focused on the task, but Sam’s roaming hands are a distraction.
Satisfied: An imagine of Castiel using his grace on you.
SPN History Challenge: A Werewolf in Whitechapel:  The Winchesters and the reader go to London during the Whitechapel murders, also known as the Jack the Ripper murders, with the theory that the perpetrator is not human. They are correct, but when the killings don’t stop, the team has to retrace their steps and riddle out what stone they left unturned. Written for @kittenofdoomage and @saxxxology-main  SPN History Challenge.
Boxer!Dean AU: Consequences: Y/N gets dragged to a boxing match by her friends where she meets Dean  “Raisin’ Cain” Winchester, a boxer who is forced to win or lose depending on how much money his bosses want to make in matches. Can their combined effort break the fixed boxing ring?  [Series Masterlist] (No smut, but still a favorite)
Wrestling Fics:
Chiffon in the Streets, Lace in the Sheets: The reader and Elias are newly married and ready to enjoy their first night as man and wife, but a few things get in the way first. (WWE)
Dangerous: After defending herself at a bar, Y/N impresses the dark figure sitting in the corner booth. Prince Devitt further impresses her. One thing leads to another, and she welcomes knowing him better. (NJPW)
A Reflection of Us: The reader gets a slight injury in a match. Roman takes his time making sure the reader is safe but very satisfied. (WWE)
Troublemaker: The reader ran off with something belonging to Kenny Omega. He makes sure she pays for it. (NJPW/AEW)
Doubt Comes In: While Rosemary battles Su Yung in the Underworld, Y/N meets and welcomes a new face to TNA. But two battles are raging instead of one. If Y/N is victorious, can she settle the insecurities in Rosemary’s mind? (Answered request) (TNA)
Sister in Arms: Finn can’t seem to shake the effects of his feud with Bray Wyatt, so an old friend comes to help. Then Y/N finds herself battling on two fronts: in the ring and in her mind.  [Series Masterlist] (WWE)

Am I the only one that feels like that Maya!RWBY would get washed by Poser!RWBY, combat-wise? Comparing the scenes from Poser-era to Maya-era, and I find that Team RWBY in the former had better weapon usage and Semblance/Aura versatility than the latter - especially when you look at each of the trailers (I know it's 'Rule of Cool', but still...), not to mention much more coordinated team attacks. Like, Beacon!Weiss is proficient in Time Dilation and Elemental Glyphs while being a proficient fencer; in comparison, Maya!Weiss is just... a summoner. That's it. Like, she's written as if she has no other skills. 'Blek' is knocked down so easily these days and uses her Semblance as a means of escape; Blake, on the hand, not only is a proficient swordswoman but shows versatility with a Kusarigama, marksmanship, and double wielding. Oh, and that's not including her masterful use of her semblance to create afterimages to pull off blitzkrieg combos, and later infuse them with Dust for surprise feints. And how can I forget her fucking aura slashes! Yang, is tankier in Poser, and she uses her Semblance as a last resort/'uno reverse' - letting her CQC skills do the talking; meanwhile, "Yang" just... activates her semblance at the drop of a hat, ruining that surprise factor while slowly becoming heavily reliant on both it and her "weapon upgrades" (which are, in reality, downgrades since her previous explosive rounds were much more versatile in comparison). And Ruby... I can't really say much except that scythemanship-CQC combination and semblance usage were more dynamic. I know it's partly due to Monty and Shane's insane animation skills, but I feel like there's more to it than that. Sorry, these are just my observations.
Wholeheartedly agree. I mean yes, we're all continually acknowledging that we can't have the choreography and vision of the Monty years, but even beyond that recent fights have, for the most part, been shockingly forgettable for me. An immediate exception to that is Ironwood vs. Watts (which uses the environment really well) and I liked portions of the WBY vs. Chessman fight from V9E3, but on the whole the girls feel nerfed despite the claims of, "We're full-fledged huntresses now, capable of beating some of the best in the world."
To add to what you've already got above, some details that immediately spring to my mind are:
Yang repeating the same combat mistake that she made back in Volume 3, resulting in "dying" rather than losing an arm
Ruby now using her semblance primarily to travel (within Atlas HQ, out of the Red Castle, etc.) rather than pulling off cool dodges, ping-ing off of things for extra speed, or creating a tornado-like effect as seen in the food fight. As mentioned many times in the past, sometimes it's not even used for an obvious need, like scaling the mountainside while fighting Cordovin, because the story wants a 'cliffhanger.'
One of the reasons I liked the chessman battle was because we had some actual team attacks, but recent Volumes are still weighed down by separating the teams - even when the story claims that's the key to victory (AKA Ace Ops battle).
This extends to moments like YJB just taking turns against the Hound, or Neo standing there dumbly as Oscar runs the length of a hallway to punch her.
I rarely feel like fights are won with any exciting flourish or narrative satisfaction anymore. (Which is another reason why Ironwood vs. Watts works so well for me: destroying your arm as a massive 'fuck you' to what your enemy thinks you're capable of withstanding to catch them unaware in their confidence is AMAZING.) I still think about Weiss summoning a wall of ice for Harriet to knock herself out against and I'm like... really? That's it?
Ruby doesn't really use her sniper rifle anymore. I loved that she used that to obey Qrow's "Stay back!" command while still trying to help. That used to be another way to slow descent, get in quick shots between swings, help an ally like when she hit Nora with the lightning dust...
I could go on. So many of the new fights are just plain boring to me. Think about how much is solved through the Big Powers now. Ruby takes out The Apathy with her eyes (though I put that in only to establish the pattern. I do like that the emotion-based grimm was defeated via care for another, not fighting.) The Hound goes the same way. Oscar sets off an explosion of magic against Salem. Winter Maidens up to blast Ironwood, etc. They're all incredibly easy wins that, for the most part, just require the magic wielder to stand there and shoot the Powerful Magic Beam at the enemy. Meanwhile, other potentially well-choreographed fights are seeped in narrative problems, like Qrow and Tyrian vs. Clover. Now toss in moments like Blake begging Ruby for help, or her and Weiss being unable to get up the vines, or them straight up forgetting that Cinder is in the city (because strategy is as important as power) and yeah, OG!RWBY would wipe the floor with them.
OG!RWBY is made up of a prodigy child wielding "one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed," a sword master capable of manipulating time, her teammate's powers, versatile glyphs, and her family's dust supply, a tank who supposedly went on a journey to better harness her ability to absorb and redirect energy (which as you say used to be an awesome surprise, not a response every time Yang gets mildly annoyed at someone), and the child of combat activists who, by her own admission, had to fight early and well to survive outside the Kingdoms. Team RWBY now feels like they're powerful primarily because a) they claim they are and b) they've got various forms of magic in their back pocket.

Medic Weapon Concept: Demon Contract
Have you ever wanted to fully commit to a Battle Medic? Have you ever had to go on a killing spree as a Medic? Don't you just want to go ape shit? Well, this is the Medi-Gun unlock for you!
This unlock turns your Medi-Gun into a team-healing passive effect and increases the damage and healing effects of your other weapons. However, the healing of the Medi-Gun itself is nerfed severely, and you don't get the bonuses you receive upon pocketing a player or using the Amputator taunt.
+50% healing power
This is different from your Healing Rate. Instead of buffing your Medi-Gun, this buffs your other weapons. That means you can heal 5 HP from the Blutsauger or heal another player 225 HP with a maximum ramp-up Crossbow bolt. The Amputator's taunt would heal 36 HP/sec.
+15% damage
This also only affects your other weapons, allowing melee hits to deal 75 damage (60 with the Amputator), a maximum ramp-up Crossbow bolt to deal 86 damage, and Syringe Guns to deal 12-14 damage if the enemy is right on top of you. This bonus adds 1 damage at further ranges for the Syringe Gun, doing nothing once you reach 3 damage.
Passively heals your teammates
Your Medi-Gun is replaced by the passive effect to heal (and overheal) teammates around you that are within Medi-Gun range (the distance at which a beam can stay attached)! If multiple people are using this weapon, the Uber build rate is divided among them, which is what normally happens between two Medi-Guns. However, this healing effect will not affect those being pocketed by a normal Medi-Gun or a dispenser. The only exception to this is if a player at a dispenser is at full health, allowing this weapon to overheal them.
-80% healing rate
Your passive healing and overhealing effect works at 5 HP/sec, which is lower than a level 1 dispenser. This also affects your Uber Build Rate, although it can become faster than Stock if you're healing more than 5 players.
No pocketing bonuses
You don't receive the regeneration bonus from healing a player, nor will you receive assists.
Ubercharge: Necromancy
Like your Medi-Gun, this effect is also passive. Whenever you kill an enemy (assists included), 20% of your Ubercharge is used to spawn a team-colored Skeleton from their corpse. This skeleton only attacks enemies. For a refresher on Skeletons, they are a melee unit that moves at 300 Hammer Units (same as a Pyro, Sniper, or Engineer) and has 50 health, dealing 30 DPS. Upon death, they spawn 3 Small Skeletons which have similar stats, but they only deal 20 damage.

I can't stop thinking about Splatoon and LU so here's some headcanons about the Chains as Splatoon player
Time: The Noob. Doesn't understand a thing about this game. He looks down at his feet while shooting, never uses the B button and his ink had never touched a single enemy. Please help him.
Twilight: Casual player who just enjoys the game and spends good times with his friends. Never rage. Everyone finds it incredible and scary at the same time.
Warriors: The Leader. Always plays in vocal with his friends and gives them orders and tells his teammates every action of the enemy's team, "they're going on the right side, there's a roller, kill him before they reach our spawn." Makes sarcastic comments when loosing.
Legend: The True Splatoon Veteran. Knows the games by heart, mains all the weapons, has perfect gears, rank X in every mode... Always plays in Ranked Battle (except when it's Clam Blitz). Anger is boiling inside him when Warriors kills him.
Hyrule: Always mains weapons with support power. Definitely a N-Zap 85 user and was probably spamming the Tacticooler in the World Premiere. He is always in the back so he doesn't get splatted regularly.
Sky: The regular Splatoon player. He's not a pro player, but he's definitely not a noob. When he loses, he gives compliments to the winners. But if they're squidbagging or spawncamping, you'll see a different side of him.
Wind: Definitely a Cancer Weapon user, and you know what? I love it, because I'm also a Cancer Weapon User (Octobrush Main). He loved to annoy people by killing them with the Tri Slosher and cried for weeks when it was nerfed. Always screeching when splatted.
Four: Definitely a Salmon Run pro. Prefers cooperating with other players. Probably a Splattershot pro. Always find an excuse while loosing and always blames the lag.
Wild: I don't know why, but Wild gave me vibes of sniper main. He can be a camper, but he also can be the dumb sniper who is in the front line. Bomb lover. He is really understanding when he is killed, "yeah understandable, he was way better than me."

My OCs for Fallout 4 and FNV
Wanted to create character sheets!! I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed creating them! Took me awhile too, kept getting sidetracked by schoolwork :C (Gotta keep those grades up!!) (So I can try to write consistently but not sure if that's even gonna happen-)
So MEET....
Courier OC: Enzo Atticus | 25yrs | Independent NV
Is a doctor, so he frowns upon people who fight risky.
For safety, he fights with a sniper so he can minimize damage on himself.
Will get his money's worth, so of course he passes all the speech checks (its at 100 and I haven't even made it to New Vegas)
He is the type of person who always nit-picks on things.
Every time he heals a companion he will grumble things like "why would you do that" and "can't believe I'm using my resources on you" (He doesn't mind at all and enjoys healing others but he will never tell you that)
I know I mentioned he uses the sniper rifle but he is SERIOUSLY good at using it, even Boone considers his sniper skills to be as good as his.
He is very healthy himself, because "If you get sick out here it's game over for you." Plus he thinks its a pretty dumb way to die because you couldn't out run a worker ant.
This man is the unluckiest person on earth. (I had to nerf him somehow.)
Will be traveling along bothering no one and suddenly step in some puddle. Day is ruined because he forgot to pack spare socks.
Will lean on a wall and it crumbles on him. Gets angry and kicks a bucket. Water splashes on him. Did I tell you water? It was actually piss.
Also gets massive headaches/migraines (due to being shot in the head- duh)
Quotes from Enzo:
"I am NOT helping you with your addiction to chems, this is the 4th time this week and its fucking Tuesday."
"100 caps?? Oh c'mon the only enemies I better see are geckos."
"Why did I sign up for the courier job if I was a doctor? Easy, the pay was simply divine. I thought 'How bad could this transport job could be!'.... turns out pretty fucking bad."
"God damnit my boot broke and blood seeped into my socks. That's the 2nd time today! I should really take payment in socks instead of caps."
"Why do you keep rushing into battle? I can't keep wasting my stimpacks on you..... I had some extras anyways but STILL STOP RUSHING INTO BATTLE HEAD ON."
"Oh sorry sweetie, I just thought you look simply wonderful tonight. Now what were you saying? Oh it's only for 50 caps? A special discount for me? Aw thanks sweetheart."
"God I love fighting robots. No blood on my armor! I can even reprogram them in my favor!"
"Please just be water please just be water. *peaks in bucket* ITS FUCKING PISS ARGHHH"
"Buddy your armor isn't fit on right. *Adjust armor* There. Oh yeah and your shoelace isn't tied right. Fix that."
"Hey handsome, you never told me your name."
"Hey I worked on my endurance for running away from enemies, but it also comes in handy for special events like these."

Sole Survivor OC: Oliver Cecil, 23yrs | Minuteman/BOS
a hot stoic guy that happens to be General of the Minutemen and Sentinel in the BOS
A straight to the point kinda guy. Hates it when strange people try to strike up idle conversation.
Could never make jokes but likes joking. (His jokes only pass because of the max charisma. His delivery of his shitty jokes is amazing.)
Grumpy most of the time. Keeps to himself.
REALLLY SMART! When he does speaks, he speaks in such refined words the raiders think he's a synth (he's not)
Also likes prewar technology, it reminds him of the old days.
Melee guy, it's much easier getting the job done with a couple slashes to the body than wasting so many bullets. It's a cheaper fighting style.
Very strong, with maxed out strength, he carries everything (like bulks of stimpacks, radaways, his tool kit, and scraps.)
He wears his power armor EVERYWHERE because he's a melee person, which is also why he carries his tool kit everywhere because his power armor is always in need of repair.
This man is like a box, on the outside, he's all quiet, but inside, he will start rambling stuff to you, talk to you more, and stay closer to you as well. (he's me fr)
Is always happy to share, since he's the minuteman general, he has settlements all over the map that constantly bring in supplies.
He also have some numbness around his body due to the cryosleep. It would've been fine if he was only unfrozen once but since he was unfrozen and refrozen, he has some nerve damage.
Unnaturally cold?? Like I know some people naturally have cold hands, so he is that person but unnaturally. (If that even make sense.)
his perception sucks
like most of the time he finds his enemies by running into them by accident. All his companions say he has a weird but efficient way of fighting.
perhaps his senses were dulled bc of the cryosleep?? I don't even know how that would work though. I'll make it cannon fr.
OLIVER QUOTES:
"Could you get to the point please?"
"Did you know that we used to use these T-60 power armors back then in war?"
"Sorry, give me a second to make some repairs to my power armor."
"Sorry sir, drinking alcohol would dull my senses."
"I would never take that... what is it, Jet? Yeah I would never take that."
"I'm fine, just a minor scratch. Nothing a stimpack can fix."
"The amount of caps you presented isn't sufficient for the mission."
"sigh... Hey handsome, mind telling me about that rumor you just mentioned?"
"I could always talk sweet, just don't want to. How do you think I'm this rich?"
"Fuuucckkk I stubbed my toe on the corner again."
"Shit I ran into a pole and now the roof is crumbling."
"Hey sweetheart, heard you needed some help, which is something I can provide with the right price."
"You need some extra stimpacks? Sure have 'em, We're stopping by Orberland Station anyways, I'll just pick up more there."
"Did you know here used to be my house? Yeah Codsworth here used to be my butler. We had a nice car, oh and Shaun was just a wee little thin... Sorry I'm rambling again."
"Nice to know that my strength can be used for.. other things as well."
OLIVER PICTURES: (I forgot his power armor picture, but he normally wear it military painted + Jetpack mod)

Ranking Every Halo Infinite Weapon
Based on how much I like them. FIRST CATEGORY: WEAPONS THAT ARE BAD AND BORING 22) THE FUCKING SIDEKICK
Tumblr media
The only weapon in this category. An utter failure. Embarrassing. Tactical Sidekicks is like playing laser tag but the lasers do not work. It is also part of the base weapon kit in quickplay and quickplay is boring. SECOND CATEGORY: WEAPONS THAT ARE GOOD BUT ARE BORING!!!! 21) Battle Rifle
Tumblr media
If this was about tactical slayer only (the best mode) this weapon is perfectly fine. Decent, maybe. Every other mode it is the most boring accuracy weapon. It brings me no joy. 20) Rocket Launcher
Tumblr media
It is just kinda boring. Nothing exciting about it. You look at someone and they die instantly. No thrill of the hunt. Would be fun in any rocket launcher only mode but otherwise no. Bad. Put that shit away! 19) Gravity Hammer
Tumblr media
Energy sword but worse. Fun to kill more than one person at once but it is just sorta whatever most of the time. Fiesta weapon only. 18) Assault Rifle
Tumblr media
It sure is consistent. Do not care. Next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 17) Energy Sword
Tumblr media
It can be fun when you get a streak going but I do not want to be the one holding it. WEAPONS THAT ARE KINDA SHIT BUT THEY ARE REALLY FUNNY 16) Hydra
Tumblr media
I like the lock on thingy. It also kills banshees which is good because I hate seeing those flying FUCKS. Kinda funny 15) Pulse Carbine
Tumblr media
Honestly it is a bit more usable and I think that is a bit of a detriment to its funny factor sadly. I still enjoy using it to kill people though. 14) Plasma Pistol
Tumblr media
I like holding the shot and the funny pew pew noises it makes. Satisfying weapon. 13) Commando Rifle
Tumblr media
I'm surprised too tbh. It is a horrible weapon, beyond worthless. Wretched, Foul, Vile, Etc. But honestly? it is kinda funny and a bit satisfying to get a kill with. 12) Bull Dog
Tumblr media
Yeah it's alright. It's fine. 11) Disruptor
Tumblr media
I love this thing so much. Almost the most satisfying weapon fr. Love you. If this weapon ever becomes marginally good it will shoot up to like second. WEAPONS THAT ARE GOOD AND ALSO PRETTY FUNNY 10) Cinder Shot
Tumblr media
It is a rocket launcher but cooler and kinda based. I approve. 9) Heatwave
Tumblr media
It is like if they made a shotgun cool. Impossible. 8) Stalker Rifle
Tumblr media
Funny kool-aid sniper. 7) Needler
Tumblr media
Very satisfying. Everybody already knows this weapon is good though. 6) Skewer
Tumblr media
I think it is funny that this is the sniper the brutes could come up with. Good job guys. 5) Sniper
Tumblr media
Sniper 4) Mangler
Tumblr media
I am forever pissed about the nerfs they gave it. 343 makes the best weapons in the series and then nerf them into oblivion. Get real. Still fun tho. Tactical Mangler was one of the best modes in the game. 3) Sentinel Beam
Tumblr media
Bsshrhrshshshhhrhssshhh 2) Ravager
Tumblr media
It has a cool fire blast attack and it shoots globs at people idk what more you could want 1) SHOCK RIFLE!!!
Tumblr media
I believe this weapon is the best weapon in any game ever sorry. If you disagree I am telling my mom on you.

CounterPAYDAY
So, I think I've played enough of CounterSide by this point to both be hooked and be able to give an honest opinion about the game. I'll go reviewer mode and do some major nitpicking. Be warned, there will be SPOILERS in here, so read at your own discretion.
Bear in mind, I've spent a bit less than a month with the game, but I've noticed some rather big issues with it that should probably be addressed someday. Also, this review is based on the Steam version: no clue how much gameplay is affected by playing on mobile, but here we go.
UI/Graphics: Pretty Neat/10
So, ignoring a Steam review that complained about a recent major change, I feel like the current UI is pretty solid. Things are fairly simple to navigate once you know what's what (though the terms for "main story", "side story", etc are the usual "we wanna be unique" words, so that may throw you off) and the design is simple but unique. The PC version also runs pretty well, though it should since it's running a 2D sidescroller-style game with what I assume are Spine-rigged full-body sprites.
Gameplay: Balance? What's that?/10
So, revisiting the sidescrooler-style comment, CounterSide is an auto-fight 2D sidescroller game where all characters have a basic attack and a passive effect. Most of them also possess a cooldown-based special attack, and a lot of those "most" possess Ultimate attacks. During battle, you get a stock of points that slowly fills up, allowing you to spend those points to deploy folks (with each unit having its own deployment cost).
Once the folks are deployed, they just go at it and your only real input is to either click the purple diamond over their head when their Ultimate is ready or use the skills of the Ship you're using to deploy said folks. If that sounds a bit demanding, there's an Auto setting for deploying/ship skills and a separate Auto for using Ultimates. While the Auto AI is easy to work with, it's not always reliable in more difficult stages, and it's never a good idea in PvP.
Yeah, there's PvP. You know what that means? GROSS IMBALANCE! Yes, units in this game vary in use because of both needing to keep PvP balanced but then also leading to a lot of overpowered units that have to be "banned" in PvP to temporarily nerf them. And in most cases, the best PvP units are those that hit with massive debuffs, enact huge buffs like Immortality or Perfect Evade, or vice-versa say "no" to all buffs/debuffs. Also Joo counterattack. It can be very frustrating.
The division of units is as follows:
There are three types of units -
Counter - Basically Superheroes, they have superpowers and pull off anime shit. They always have Ultimates and Special Attacks.
Soldier - Normal humans who are still pretty tough and do some normal things to help. Some have Ultimates and Specials, but the Passives replacing them can be quite good.
Mecha* - Vehicles, planes, drones, and stompbots. They can have Specials, Ultimates, or just be normal attack with two or three passives.
*The game actually calls them "Mechs", but this is erroneous as "Mech" is short for "mechanized infantry" which are infantry that travel using tracked vehicles i.e. an APC. "Mecha" is the term for stuff like stompbots and so on.
Among these units, there are SEVEN classes -
Strikers - Melee bros, frontline smack-a-dude, good against Rangers
Rangers - Distance bros, might smack face from afar, but mostly mid-range, good against Defenders.
Defenders - Tanks, enough said, good against Snipers.
Snipers - Self-explanatory, super squishy but super powerful, good against Strikers
Towers - They stand there and defend your ship from getting shivved, that's it, really, not particularly good against anyone and pretty niche
Siege - They charge in and aaaargh, that's it, not particularly useful except maybe in PvP
Supporter - They Heal, They Buff, They Debuff, They Shoot Fire/Ice/Flower Petals, They can be pretty busted but also a bit squishy
So, you see that balancing teams is a bit... Weird with the excess classes as well as how unit types don't quite seem to amount to much other than using different upgrade items/equipment. You'll always have a bit of everything (besides Tower/Siege) on a team in order to beat normal content because using only one class is just stupid.
Of course, the rarity of units goes the letter rating route, where the max is SSR... Well, there's one ABOVE that: AWAKENED SSR. These units are OP for one thing in particular and that one thing can either be super useful or super niche, so the mileage may vary in how much they speed up finishing stages.
Oh, by the way, stages are timed, with 3 minutes being the usual time limit. But, to get 3-star ratings, you have to beat most levels within 1 minute (sometimes 1m30s), so you're more than likely going to focus on farting out as much DPS as possible to win rather than anything else.
Music: A Bit Here, A Bit There/10
So, this is a bit weird to say, but this music seems to be pretty good if only because it's building off other kinds of music. In general, the tone is pretty dark or grim, and the style is a mix of Yuki Kajiura, Go Shiina, and Kenji Kawai. It gets to the point where it feels like a bit of whiplash when you hear something rather normal for a gacha and then suddenly Kajiura-esque choral chanting because the main character is going schwing-schwing in a cutscene.
By the way, it's questionable whether the music is entirely original, as one particular track called "WATCH-00001" turned out to have taken its main melody from a random synth instrumental track and then added a few whooshes and stuff. I would take the music with a grain of salt, seeing as there isn't much here that says "original music" so much as "we're trying to be like that popular music". Not necessarily bad, but after finding out about that one track, it makes anything else a bit suspect in terms of potential plagiarism.
Character Designs: The Whole Spectrum/10
Since the game has super-anime characters, normal people, AND stompbots, it's pretty simple to say that the designs go across the whole spectrum. Some are really good, some are really potato, some are just alright, some are REALLY slutty, some are tastefully-dressed, some are unique, some are generic, there's a Metal Gear, a knock-off Titanfall Titan, the gun nut daughter of M200 from GFL, and Chris Redfield's lost twin brother.
So you'll more than likely find designs you like and designs you won't. It's all over the place, but at least it largely looks to be the same artist, so you know they tried to come up with a lot of variability (even if there are a lot of repeat characters with the Awakened thing and characters from past timelines- we'll get there shortly). It's also got plenty of guys as well as girls, so it's not ENTIRELY biased toward girlservice.
Economy: TOO MANY DIFFERENT CURRENCIES/10
Let's get the biggest part out of the way: you, the player, are a manager. Yes. Which means you're not leveling up characters: you're increasing their pay rate. Now, game-wise this doesn't mean you pay them regularly but the point still stands. You pay lots of money to level them up and make them fight harder using "appraisals" for EXP. This does mean they don't level up by fighting, so they only gain EXP from this.
Their skills can be upgraded with a separate currency of blue books alongside using skill manual-like items of varying amounts based on the skill being upgraded. The ceiling of upgrades is capped based on the star-level of the character, with the absolute max being 5. Their star-level is upgraded through a different Cube-like resource which differs based on the character type- Counter, Soldier, or Mecha.
All of these are obtained via grind. The stamina resource you use to grind, Eternium, initially looks like a huge number (in the thousands) and replenishes 75 every five minutes, but the stages cost so much Eternium that the numbers are largely inflated. That and the best grind stages are locked behind a specific pass-like item that you only get two of every day, with a unique pass for each item type to grind: appraisals, skill manuals, and cubes.
All of this on top of needing to grind for money for everything, as well as parts for upgrading the ships used to deploy your units, equipment for units to use as well as items to craft more/upgrade them, blue books so you don't run out upgrading skills, currency in other modes for their respective shops-- THERE'S A LOT OF GODDAMN ITEMS AND NOT ENOUGH STREAMLINING!
This is one of the parts that bugs me the most, because you're always hemorrhaging on something or other due to the sheer number of things, and it makes progress come to a grinding halt after the initial beginner period where it gives you so much crap to work with. If you don't just blaze through all the available story, then you'll end up with a lot of times just logging in for ten minutes to auto-run stages for whatever you're missing out on the most (which may most often be Cubes or money). It's a headache trying to track all of it, and it would be nice if it was all streamlined into much fewer resources.
That's not even getting into the PvP currency, the challenge content currency, the myriad side story currencies, the Raid/Dive currencies, the shards you gather of certain characters to turn into copies of said character- At least that last one makes sense, but goddamn it feels like they just kept tossing on new things and not putting thought into making it have better flow in acquiring it.
Story: Surprisingly Okay/10
So, here's the basic background: the world exists alongside a place known as the CounterSide which is full of Corruption Rays that turn people into monsters known as Corrupted Objects or C.O.s. It occasionally opens holes from the CounterSide to the real world and spreads the Corruption Rays in the real world.
So, to combat this, the "Administration" employs paid mercenary companies filled with Counters capable of harnessing superpowers fueled by CRF (I forget what it stands for) to fight back. You know someone's a Counter because they wear a watch as a symbol of both their status as a Counter and as ticking death: if it reaches zero without an Eternium recharge, they turn into a special C.O. called a Shadow.
The main story itself begins with the arrival of Hilde, a petite woman who is a member of Coffin Company, a well-known but shit-outta-luck PMC that is on its last legs financially. She is greeted by her old apprentice, Joo Shiyoon, who you can immediately tell, due to his constantly-closed eyes and his voice actor being Lelouch, is not really as happy-go-lucky as he lets on (and equally tell by the CG that Hilde feels guilty about something related to him).
These two chuckleheads come together to go on a mission alongside the new hire, Yoo Mina, the love child of Squall Leonhart and Satomi Rentarou who, of course, uses a long revolver rifle with a little surprise and is obsessed with making money (in order to pay for her sister's hospital bills). The story isn't very subtle about just how these three are not so average folks, and that lack of subtlety is a bit refreshing, but it also does subvert expectations here and there. I digress...
So rookie's first day is rescuing the new owner of Coffin, a monolithic robot that is the avatar of... Well, you, the player, the omnipotent manager. What follows is a chain of events that reveal ye old rookie has her own secret power she's awakening to. Oh, and her revolver rifle has a rune-covered sword inside that she can use to slice through big-ass enemies so long as there's a huge choir chanting in the background. No "power of friendship" stuff going on, just "nah, I'm splitting this thing in two".
A few chapters in, there's a reveal of a group of enemies trying to use the CounterSide for some supposedly nefarious purpose, and it devolves into a rather whirlwind series of events which I will not detail further because this review is getting WAY too wordy. Needless to say, the story does a fair bit of hop and jump, and it doesn't spend too much time hammering in sad moments or make you empathize with enemies like a certain other dev's games hoyo. It does what it sets out to do, and at least the characters aren't so two-dimensional that you actually can guess them from the get-go. Besides maybe Hilde, but I think that's because (as far as I've seen, at least) her story's barely been told since it might be too spoilery.
With that said, the main story does proceed with certain characters becoming involved without explaining why in itself. That's where the side stories come in, where they do detail these other side groups either before or after they get involved in the main story. That, in particular, I appreciate A LOT, especially when the Guide Mission progression has you hopping between Main and Side so you don't miss much along the way. It doesn't ruin the pacing of the Main story if you're just plowing through that, having to cover that stuff, so it works out well.
Overall: Bretty good/10
I mean, it must be doing something right if I feel invested in playing (and spending), right? Eh, I can't honestly say that. Arknights didn't do much right, and I played it for months before dropping it. Well, SilverAsh exists, so that was most of why I stayed... But we're not talking about that crap. We're talking about a rather up-and-down game that's imperfect but kind of enjoyably imperfect.
It's very obvious it has balance issues out the wazoo with characters, it has far too many currencies/upgrade items, hard game modes, and the special "gem" currency for rolling gacha is better spent on upgrades to your dorms or buying the OTHER currency for rolling the Awakened gacha. And yet the gameplay can be hands-off enough that you can just sit and watch your employees do all the work for you, the story bits come together pretty well, and there's plenty of little twists that, while some are pretty obvious, can catch you by surprise just for being different from the norm.
I'd recommend it just for you to judge it accordingly and because the beginning is pretty easy with how much stuff it throws at you. By the time you go through all the beginner prizes and stuff, you should be able to tell whether you'll like the game or not. Once that's all used up, though, you'll be in the grind section of the game, depending on how many not-good units you end up raising without realizing they're not good. But such is life in the gachas...

3. What movie do they watch when they've both a bad day and need to turn off their brains?
I'm going with something like Dumb and Dumber, Happy Gilmore. Something Monty Python.
5. how do they hype one another up?
Esme always reminds him of how brave and strong and resilient he is. Not because of what he does for a living, but because he does battle with his brain every day and he keeps going and despite how bad things can be, always is there to love on her and the kids and give them a great life.
Tyler will forever compliment her when it comes to her looks. She struggles badly with her confidence and the fact he gets a lot of female attention, and he's always there to make her feel like the most beautiful, sexy woman in the world. Even after seven kids.
7. Who tries to playfully scare the other? Who always knows where the other person is?
Esme will try, but his instincts are so keen that she doesn't stand a chance. But he is always successful at scaring her. He'll lie in wait around the house with a nerf gun and act like a sniper: shooting her in the ass, in the back of the head. lol
9. When their partner has a bad day, what is something the other picks up to try and make their day a little better? Ex - Fast food, flowers, a punny card, ect.
They're both very good at this, but it's Tyler's specialty lol. He will go and get her flowers, her favourite food from her favourite take out place, her favourite cupcakes, a new journal for her to write in.
12. Who presses their nose against their partner's cheek before kissing them?
Definitely Esme :)
What Small quirks do they love about each other?
So, Tyler's best kept secret is that he keeps an old receiving blanket from Millie's baby days at the bottom of the bed and he can't sleep without covering his feet with it. Esme LOVES that.
When she's concentrating on something or immersed in a book, she'll chew on her bottom lip and twirl a piece of hair. He finds it adorable.
15. What are somethings that they do for one another because they know their partner hates it? Ex- do the dishes, phones to make an order, talks to sales clerk, ECT
Esme handles all social interactions when it comes to school events, extracurriculars, meet ups with other parents. She'll do all the talking. Tyler isn't that comfortable around people he doesn't know and is very much an introvert.
Tyler will clean the windows and the toilets. LOL. She especially hates cleaning the toilets and the boys' bathrooms because some of them have really poor aim

Gjallarhorn!
I thought the packaging was neat, super easy to put together, but I wouldn’t recommend taking it into a nerf battle until you perfect the loading procedures 😂 and now the sniper rifle I’ve had forever has a friend.

With all that is being said about Modern Warfare 2 it seems like the game will still be a great hit once it is officially out on November 10 2022. The Call of Duty franchise is one of the best but it does get repetitive. The developers are trying to spice it up and make each game unique. That is hard when the game itself is fairly similar in the basics of it all. They did add a lot of new game modes which are promising. Some of the new game modes we saw were Prisoner rescue, knock out, and invasion. I personally am a big fan of cyber attack from Modern Warfare and wonder if they will be bringing that back into Modern Warfare 2. A lot of the community is asking for slide canceling to be brought back into the game. Another issue that the game seems to face is that they took out quick scoping from the game. It is still doable but they have definitely nerfed it drastically. They stated that they actually do not want it to be a big part of this game as it takes away from the game. Many disagree with this because at least 50% of the community likes to quick scope. To take out such a fundamental aspect of the game is outrageous. We didn't get to get a real feel to it in the beta since it did not allow for customization of the sniper class. Hopefully when it comes out we will be able to quick scope with better attachments. Many players in the beta actually used the default battle rifle to snipe instead of the sniper. That says a lot about how the community truly feels when it comes to the snipers. In other big news Advanced warfare 2 is coming back! I personally strongly disliked the original but I am curious to how the new one will be. This was announced just 3 days ago so there isn't much information about it yet! What will the future of Call of Duty be? Check out the game modes here

How 343 (incorrectly) nerfed the Mangler
The Mangler is a contentious subject in Halo Infinite. The brute pistol’s high damage output split casual and professional players over the gun’s place in the sandbox. Casual players defend the gun’s powerful design and defend its strength. Pro players have informally banned the gun in scrims and tournament matches (even when playing for thousands of dollars). The two sides had many solutions for resolving the problem, but when 343 Industries stepped in, the resulting nerf left no one happy. How did we get here? Why is the Mangler so divisive among the same player base? Is it possible to find a compromise on this gun? Let’s take a look.
Part 1: The Mangler Itself
To understand this discussion it’s important to understand the gun itself. The Mangler is an eight-shot pistol that fires arching projectiles at high velocity. These bolts deal 71 damager per bolt and instantly kill an unshielded opponent with a headshot. In Halo Infinite every player has two “health bars”: a shield with 140 HP and a health bar with 90 HP. This means the gun breaks shield with 2 bolts, then kills with 2 bolts to the body or 1 bolt to the head. This means the Mangler can kill a full shield opponent in 3-4 shots, assuming you don’t miss.
In addition, the Mangler used to have a “one shot beatdown”. In Season 1 the Mangler’s melee damage was 174. This means one bolt (71 dmg) plus one melee hit (174 dmg) would kill a fully shielded opponent. This puts the Mangler’s point blank damage next to powerful weapons like the Sniper Rifle, Shotgun and Heatwave. This was one of the gun’s polarizing features and the target of 343′s nerfs, but we will discuss that in a minute.
Another important detail is how you obtain the Mangler. Halo Infinite groups weapons in loose “genres” (called “Weapon Racks” by 343) and spawns them on similar weapon pads. For example, the pistol “rack” could spawn Sidekicks, Plasma Pistols, Needlers, Manglers and the like. Rifle “racks” could spawn ARs, BRs, Commandos and the like. This feature is used to mix up spawns for social games and BTB but is intentionally disabled for ranked play. This tacitly groups weapons of the same “rack” into similar power levels, despite their different functionalities. This creates problems we will discuss in a minute.
To recap briefly, the Mangler could:
Break full shields in two shots
Kill unshielded opponents in one headshot or two bodyshots.
Kill a full shield opponent with one bolt and one melee.
Part 2: The game surrounding the Mangler
Halo has a divide between its social settings and tournament settings. Social games start with AR/ Pistol and make up the vast majority of Halo games. Ranked / tournament games start with a Battle Rifle. The difference between starts drastically alters the gameplay. AR and Pistol starts focuses on close range combat, giving players of all skill levels a weapon they can be comfortable with. BR starts grant players the ability to shoot anyone they can look at right from spawning but trade great range for comparatively low damage. The damage gap is best demonstrated by this TTK chart.
Tumblr media
The AR (MA40 AR) has a TTK of 1.08 seconds with perfect accuracy, while the pistol has a very fast 1.03 seconds. Meanwhile, the comp start Battle Rifle (BR75) has a much longer TTK of 1.67 seconds. This grants the BR a unique niche in comp Halo: You can shoot anything you can see but it takes longer to kill people than any other weapon (except Disruptor or PP). This long TTK is part of what Halo players like about the gun: It gives defenders plenty of opportunities to strafe and dodge an opponent’s gunfire, allowing dodging and aiming to develop as interlinked skills. This balance also incentivizes grabbing additional weapons, as any pickups you get will be stronger at close range (or sometimes long range) than your starting gun.
The Mangler sports a slower TTK than either starting social weapon, making t a worse mid range option than the AR or Pistol. This balance is supposed to be offset by the Mangler’s melee combo, granting it expanded utility up close. However, eagle eyed viewers will immediately spot a problem. The bars in orange refer to kill combos with two weapons, and one of those combos is the BR + Mangler. While the BR takes 1.67 seconds to kill on its own and the Mangler takes 1.43 seconds to kill, you can combo the two very efficiently. If you fire two Mangler bolts, drop the Mangler (instantly pulling out your BR) and headshot the now unshielded opponent, your combo kills in 1.29 seconds. This drop has huge implications for ranked games.
If you scroll up you’ll remember the strengths of the Mangler:
Break full shields in two shots
Kill unshielded opponents in one headshot or two bodyshots.
Kill a full shield opponent with one bolt and one melee.
In ranked games you start with the BR. When you combine the BR and Mangler you now get:
Lower TTK at close-mid range than any opponent with a Battle Rifle
One shot beatdown at melee range
Equal effectiveness at long range vs anyone without a power weapon
Easier time breaking shields
Mangler + Battle Rifle has a 0.38 second kill advantage on anyone with a BR, which is most players during a ranked match. This gives whoever is holding it an immense advantage in any 1v1 or 1v2 gunfights, fundamentally altering positioning and fights around its location. This sort of dynamic positioning is reserved for power weapons and the shotguns, not to pistol pickups like disruptors or plasma pistols. That’s the core issue with the Mangler: It’s too strong and too accessible.
Part 3: Halo Casuals vs Halo Pros
Now, the big divide between pros and casual can be traced to the different starting equipment. Mangler + BR TTK is too low for ranked, but the AR and Pistol starts in social games have a fair shot against Mangler players out of melee range. When casual Halo players see the pros complaining about a gun that’s too strong in ranked, they fail to recognize the importance of starting equipment. They project their experiences of Manger vs AR onto the situation, failing to understand the problem is Mangler/BR vs BR.
Halo’s casual scene doesn’t have a very healthy relationship with its professional scene. A lot of Halo players enjoy the game for it’s diverse sandbox and custom games, using retail Halo as a jumping off point for wacky moments and cool stuff. That’s all well and good, but a lot of these wackier weapons don’t really work in a tournament environment. Therefore, a lot of Halo competitors intentionally limit the tools at play (vehicles, certain weapons, certain maps) to focus on mechanical skill and teamwork. A lot of casual players see these game modes devoid of what they enjoy about Halo and bounce right off. Even worse, some decided to target the Halo pro scene as some “boogeyman” corrupting their fun through balance changes and patches. This line of thinking is demonstrably wrong (and I’ll get to it), but incredibly popular. It leads me to ask: How does a small pro scene attract so much resentment from other players and would-be fans?
Part 4: 343′s impossible balancing act
343 Industries is the company behind the development and maintenance of Halo Infinite. Their job is to build a game that casual players and pros will enjoy, catering to both of their sensibilities wherever possible. While I respect the Halo Infinite devs and understand many of the difficulties of their position, they are known for making questionable changes. The Mangler is a great example of the divide between social games & ranked games, and it’s current implementation couldn’t stand. When season 2 rolled around a week ago, they decided to indirectly nerf the Mangler by changing melee system mechanics. As of Season 2, bladed weapon melee damage dropped from 174 to 157. This tool out the Mangler’s one shot beatdown from ranked and social. While a nerf sounds like a good idea, there’s a much bigger problem that went unaddressed: The Mangler + BR TTK wasn’t changed. Social games suffered since the one shot beatdown kept the Mangler competitive with the AR and Pistol’s fast TTKs. While this change is also welcome in ranked, the bigger problem was left unaddressed. Manglers still heavily altered ranged play and monopolized the battlefield around them. They were still readily available like any other pistol weapon. So come season 2, the pro community continued their agreement to not use the Mangler in scrims or tournament.
This change feels like poor research or a poor compromise on the part of 343 Industries. Be it an unwillingness to change the availability of the weapon or an inability to find a comfortable balance between social and ranked games, the change only served to upset a lot of Halo players. I’m hoping the gun’s current iteration is a stepping stone to a better design, as many other weapon changes in Season 2 are genuinely great. I have faith in Halo Infinite’s future and hope this post reflects a silly misstep on the way to the final game, but something has to change to get there.

Mass Effect 2 replay, post Zaeed loyalty mission wrap up and getting ready to pick up Grunt:
Normandy
-Kasumi approves of Shepard standing up to Zaeed to save the refinery workers. Knew she was the paragon one.
-However, she only almost sees Edi as a person. She can’t get past Edi being a machine.
At least she uses female pronouns for Edi. I think Joker’s still referring to her as “it” at this point.
-According to the Codex, the United States absorbs Mexico and Canada. It’s renamed the United North American States. There was also a second civil war.
Not especially relevant, but interesting tidbit.
-And finally an example of humanity not creating the obvious technology.
I was worried the Codex would claim humanity invented the flamethrower, but the M-451 Firestorm acquired in Zaeed’s loyalty mission is a human improvement on a turian flamethrower.
Eysta
-Odasst – Why would a spectre care if Illium mining companies are selling platinum to pirate gangs in the Terminus Systems?
Yes, platinum is a strategic metal. However, they should be able to mine it or buy it from Terminus mining companies easily enough. And neither Odasst nor Illium are C-Space worlds – what’s a spectre even doing here?
I suppose the logic of don’t arm your enemy applies here, but a spectre feels like overkill. If the Council can send a spectre, why not an auditor?
Aquila
-Vecchio – There are graves with humanoid skeletons. Human universities are planning archaeological digs.
However, in ME1 the description for Aremni says that the Council holds grave sites sacrosanct. As a result, archaeological digs are all but forbidden.
So why are they permitted here? Is this because Vecchio is in the Terminus systems?
So the Council will poke its nose into Odasst and forbid mining companies from a non C-Space world to sell platinum to pirate gangs, but they’ll overlook archaeological digs on sites they hold sacrosanct.
I doubt this was intentional on Bioware’s part – more likely an oversight – but this does feel very real.
-Volturno – The gravity is heavy enough to be comfortable for Elcor, but they can’t breathe the atmosphere. That could be changed via terraforming, but they don’t hold enough sway with the Council for that to happen.
Most notably, vorcha are illegally squatting on the planet in an attempt to claim it for themselves.
How does that work? This is a Terminus planet. The Council doesn’t rule over the Terminus Systems. Ergo, the vorcha cannot be illegally squatting – C-Space has no authority here.
Except they do, apparently.
I think this is one of the biggest changes from ME1 to ME2 – in ME1, the Council wants nothing to do with the Terminus Systems.
In ME2, I’m getting the impression that the Terminus Systems are territory the Council doesn’t have direct control over, but they do have influence and intend to seize it for themselves eventually.
So while technically the Council has no authority, unofficially they do if they’re willing to back it up with force. They pick their battles carefully and are slowly expanding the boundaries of C-Space, one system at a time.
It’s the best explanation I have for why are these planet descriptions make it sound like their opinion matters, anyway.
Citadel Detour
-Picked up the sniper and medi-gel capacity upgrades I skipped before.
How do I have upgrades for everything now except biotics? I am playing a biotic, that’s what I need.
ME2 nerfed biotics hard.
Imir
-Quodis – A very realistic take on the future. Piracy is an issue when ships restock on helium-3, so ships are encouraged to use escorts from the Korlus Security Fleet. To avoid fraud, compare their identification with the Korlus Security Fleet extranet sites.
This is guidance I can easily imagine being on a country’s tourism website today.
