Writer's ask game
10. Do you set yourself deadlines?
No. Sometimes I have deadlines, but that's because I'm writing for something like a character birthday or a fandom event. But I rarely choose to have them.
19. How do you keep yourself motivated?
I just answered that one here!
30. Favourite idea you haven’t started on yet
Oh hmm interesting this is difficult because is creating a document with the name of the idea "starting" on it? because if an idea is something i want to write that's happened.
Ummm of the blank empty documents I have though, I think the project I am most excited about is the placeholder document for when I get around to writing the sherlouis RPF thing with nikiforova. I am going to get to write fanfiction & then leave comments as though I'm Sherlock writing fanfiction. I've got a whole pseud on AO3 and everything and I think it's going to be glorious. Also will be a fun way to explore the fan-community and the friendships we make along the way.

Ask and you shall receive!
Chapter 54 takes a pause from overall Hogwarts shenanigans and checks in on some forgotten characters.
A door opened and closed elsewhere in the house; Pegasus sauntered into the kitchen soon after and made a beeline for his overly posh coffee maker.
“Just admit it that you’re terrible at this game,” said Tristan.
Joey huffed and dealt out the playing cards once more.
“Hm, and what are you two up to on this beautifully gloomy morning?” asked Pegasus, “are we skipping school in favor of card games?”
He glanced at the table and gasped dramatically. “And not even Duel Monsters! Oh, my heart!”
Joey snickered and picked up his new hand. “The world don’t revolve around Duel Monsters ya know.”
Tristan’s jaw dropped. He didn’t even pick up his cards and folded his arms across his chest. “Oh no? Says the guy who took his duel disk to school every day! What was that you used to say all the time about a duelist always being prepared?”
He smirked at the new scowl forming on Joey’s face and turned to Pegasus. “Joey doesn’t want to admit it’s his turn to clean the bathroom, so he’s banking on using cards to get out of it. Only it’s not working.”
“…I see. And as always, so glad to see that after all the work I had done to assure that life could continue as normal, your study room continues to go ignored.”
“It’s not ignored, Téa’s in it being responsible enough for th’ three of us put together,” said Joey. “Besides, she don’t like doing the online school thing with us. Apparently we’re ‘too distracting’.”
Pegasus eyed the cards again. “…I couldn’t fathom why.”

Giving Up The Ghosts

Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Word Count: 266,598
The front cover of both of these is inspired by the swirling gold pattern on the back of the Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. And we have the Millennium Puzzle on the back of the cover as well as holding the chapter numbers for each chapter.
I found fonts inspired by the cards to use for titling and the block quotes at the start of each chapter.
These books were my first time working with HTV and I ended up having to make a new case for the first attempt as I proved a bit overzealous in my application of heat.
I loved the marbled mauve paper that I found for the end pages of these it fit perfectly with the color scheme I had come up with for the books and it gave me something to color match with when picking my thread for the headbands.

Fic: A River in Egypt, by @nenya85

[kaiba voice] MIRU KA II! ENDPAPERS FROM JOANN'S!! WAHAHA!!
Nenya is an icon in Yugioh fandom - and an adored friend <3 It was time she got to hold a hard copy of all her hard work in her hands. Working on these books over the past few weeks has brought me insane joy, and I'm so proud of how these turned out - they are #5 and #6 in my current book tally, and I learned a pile while working on them.
The covers are silk moire in black, gold, and a sandy white, while the blue is Japanese book cloth. The body of this text is set in 10.5 point Perpetua font, with accents in Skandal and Aquifer.
Some additional details below the cut:
Every chapter in this fic starts with a little meditation/vignette on the five stages of grief...
So I translated each of the five stages into their hieroglyphic equivalents (using either direct translation or good-enough approximations - I think the word I used for "bargaining" actually means "to exchange or trade.")
I also managed to split the fic exactly in half, into two volumes of 17 chapters each. Volume I is 216 pages; Volume II is 208 pages. In other words, the volumes are both balanced in their chapter count and almost identical in their widths, a testament to Nenya's skill and consistency as a writer.

Atem kept up his new hobby of taking snapshots with his phone: Kaiba and Mokuba on rides or playing arcade games, Kaiba laughing uproariously as he pinned Atem in a corner in bumper cars, selfies of himself and Kaiba posing next to the giant Blue Eyes White Dragon statue at the center of the park, Atem smiling into the camera, Kaiba glaring at the lens as if facing an opponent.
Kaiba grumbled at Atem and Mokuba for wasting time and storage space taking pictures of things they could remember perfectly well, but Kaiba got caught by Mokuba's camera as well: resting his head on Atem's, smiling proudly as Atem praised the park's attractions, or – best of all – sprawled sleepily on the hotel couch with Atem leaning against him.
It was in those moments, when he had the proof of his brother's happiness, that Mokuba liked Atem best.

Who either have deeply influenced me my whole entire life or played a big part in it or whom I just love deeply and wholly. Probably Poison Paradise: just trying to get things right for each subsequent chapter and not lose track of what has already happened. Plus, I reread the chapter a comment is on each time I get a comment, but with the comment in mind, and that fic has a million and a half comments. (This work is Explcit with a focus on sherlouis, but also has a sidepairing of alwill.. which some readers may find incestuous -- hey look we're back to question 16 even if this one doesn't have the tag.)

18. A random headcanon: Post-series, Ryou spends a few years traveling abroad as an archaeologist. Wearing the Millennium Ring for so long gave him a sixth sense when it came to cursed artifacts.

Man
The creator of Yu-Gi-Oh, Kazuki Takahashi, is dead. And I'm feeling a thing or two
Yu-Gi-Oh is the earliest fandom I remember joining. The oldest fanfiction I remember is written by the lovely @nenya85
It pushed me to improve my English, so I could read and understand what fans had put to page in a different language
Then of course there is the elephant in the room, the big derivative, Yu-Gi-Oh - The Abridged Series. YGOTAS too has given me so much. Character archetypes I adore. A sense of humor. Bonding material with my best friend to this day. This would've never been possible without the original. I am who I am today thanks to this series
Yu-Gi-Oh gets a bad reputation for being a silly and bad series. But it has united a community, like-minded individuals it has given strength to. It has pushed me, personally, to be more and better. And for that I am incredibly thankful.
