Andrew shot up out of a sound sleep, gasping for air. He looked over at the window. The sun was barely peeking over the horizon. It was far too early for anyone to be awake. He turned over and closed his eyes, even though sleep was already fleeing from him.
Then it came again, the sound he thought he had dreamed. It was a shout, almost a squeal, the kind of sound he would have expected from a teen girl but in a voice that was decidedly masculine.
“Matt! Matt! Come quick! It’s snowing!” The voice shouted. Andrew could hear a lower voice grumbling back, too quiet for him to make out the words. He could only assume the other person was trying to be the voice of reason. It didn’t work.
“Are you kidding? I haven’t seen snow since I was living in Mittenwald when I was six! You have to come out with me, please Matt?” The voice continued, losing no volume. Andrew threw off the blankets, giving up on sleep as long as this moron insisted on shouting in the halls. He shivered as his feet hit the cold floor. King wound herself around his ankles, meowing excitedly and begging to be fed. He ignored her in favour of hunting around for his fuzzy slippers. He was still cold so he grabbed up his blanket again and wrapped it around himself before marching out into the hall to give the guy a piece of his mind.
He slammed open his door and opened his mouth, only to stop in a sudden gay panic. He’d seen his neighbours around in passing but hadn’t officially met them. One of them was a tall guy with dark hair and a face that had a hard time looking grumpy, even though he looked as exhausted as Andrew felt.
And the other, well the other was going to be trouble. Andrew could tell immediately. He had bright red hair in messy curls falling into his bright, bright blue eyes. His cheeks were flushed with sleep and excitement, and the nasty scars on his face just lent him an air of mystery and did absolutely nothing to detract from his pretty face.
“What?” The redhead asked.
Andrew realized he was standing in the hallway just staring at them with his mouth open. He could feel his face heat but he opened his mouth to shout at them for disrupting his sleep.
“Do you want to build a snowman?” is what came out instead.
“What?” the man repeated.
Andrew turned and strode back into his apartment, slamming the door behind him. He actually liked this apartment. It was a shame he was going to have to move.
A hesitant knock sounded behind him. He wondered if he could pretend he wasn’t at home. The knock came again and Andrew steeled himself to open the door. The man stood on the other side, a little breathless, a little intense.
“Yes,” he said.
“What?” It was Andrew’s turn to ask.
“I want to build a snowman,” he said.
“I already regret asking,” Andrew said.
“Does that mean you rescind your offer?” The man actually looked disappointed.
Andrew sighed. “I’ll get my coat,” he said, slamming the door in the man’s face.
He took his time getting ready, finally giving in to King’s strong hints and filling her bowl. He made a cup of coffee and dumped half the bowl of sugar in his cup, trying to wake up fully. He fully expected the man to be gone by the time he opened the door again, just a little bit of dream that hung around him after his rude awakening. But he was still there, sitting cross-legged against the opposite wall. He smiled and scrambled to his feet when Andrew came out of his apartment.
“I’m Neil by the way,” the man smiled and Andrew had to turn away and practically run outside.
“I don’t care,” he said back over his shoulder. But then a few seconds later. “I’m Andrew.”

Me and my friend started talking about fanfiction writers the other day and how amazing they are and I decided to look up exactly how long some of the fics I’ve read are and how long it took to finish them (all the ones listed are aftg fics by @nekojitachan and are so amazing and well written please go read them)
First we’ve got Way Down We Go at 620k words in a little under 5 months (started: 2016-06-02 finished: 2016-10-30)
Next is Armies which is 341k in a little over 5 months (started: 2016-08-24 finished: 2017-02-02)
The fact that these were so quickly put out while being done at the SAME TIME
For reference the longest Harry Potter book is order of the Phoenix at 250k. Crescent City by SJM is 242k. The longest Kotlc book is flashback at 201k.
I’m not sure how long it took SJM or JK to write theirs but it takes Shannon a year to release each book

The Raven!Neil Fic
Hey @prettygaytrashbag, I figured I’d answer here because the answer of where you can find the fic is more complicated.
Short Answer: You currently can’t since it hasn’t been published yet.
Longer Answer:
I’m in the process of writing my first chaptered AFTG fic which is mainly a self-indulgent mess that I’m not sure anyone else will actually want to read. I mean it’s basically a let’s throw all the fandom’s tropes in one fic and see what we get type of fic. Raven!Neil. Neil has a twin. The Vixens. Hatford Drama. Social Media. So Many OCs. Originally inspired by @nekojitachan’s incredible Noah Hatford AU asks, the fic has truly just spiralled into something of its own.
WIP Title and Summary: Not All Ghosts are Buried
It was a twisted sort of Parent Trap. Nathan paid his loyalties to the Moriyamas with one twin, while Mary escaped with the other. Noah Hatford has lived his life since he was age ten as half of a whole. "Nathaniel's dead" his mother whispered harshly as she pulled him onto the plane away from Baltimore, away from his nightmares. Of course, not everything in Baltimore had been a nightmare, because there had also been Nathaniel. Nathaniel who had been willing to take their father's punishments so Noah wouldn't have to, who would make up stories as they laid side by side in bed, whose smile would make any similarities to their father's face fade. But now, when Nathaniel's face is plastered across the Exy magazines, Noah has never been more aware what his relative freedom has truly cost. His brother's eyes glint with a barely contained bitterness, but he's alive and now Noah will do just about anything to get his brother back.
Currently I’m at 6,700 words of Neil and the Nest, 13,600 words of Noah attempting to break Neil out by joining the Vixens and a four page incomplete outline. I don’t actually know when I’ll start publishing as the goal was to have enough prewritten that I couldn’t just give up on the project like I have an annoying habit of doing.
As to when you’ll be able to read it? Who knows? Maybe I get my act together, find a beta and start publishing mid-February. Maybe I flat out just don’t worry about getting ahead and just focus on polishing the first two chapters and you’ll get them earlier. Actually I should probably find a Beta anyway since I can’t match Neil’s sass levels.
Since the story is so OC heavy and frankly a mess of tropes, I’m not even sure people will be interested in it when it’s actually here, but I’m having a great time and it’s broken through some of my Depression Writing Funk so there’s at least that. So you’ll likely have a chance to read it at some point even if it isn’t soon.

**Hello, this is hilarious and I love it. In this AU series Andrew and Neil meet and become friends first through the Tinder app. It’s funny but also super sweet and poignant at times. It gives a really really excellent show of the different characters’ relationships with each other, especially if they had all met differently. I’ve reread it twice and have no regrets. Check out dj’s other stuff too! I absolutely frickn’ ADORED ‘too pretty’.
