Oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god OH MY FRAKING GOD COD CREEPY NEIGHBOR SIMON TOOK.ME.OUT. I am officially deceased. I love you so much for this, you have no idea
The place is so old, nearly falling apart. There are definitely some smaller holes in the walls. I‘m sure our dear "pretty flower" wouldn’t mind Simon taking peeks through the holes. After all, he has to check up on you doesn’t he! How else would he make sure that you did not trip on your own feet? How else would he make sure that you did not choke on a glass of water? (He probably thinks reader is super clumsy, even if they aren‘t at all). He just has to make sure, see with his own eyes, that you‘re alive and breathing! It is his duty as the big strong male!
And if, one time, purely on accident of course, you were changing clothes, oh..well<3
He's awful like that :((
You're actually very unnerved by the seemingly constant stare whenever you pass by Simon, his dark brown eyes staring at you almost like he was a predator observing his prey and in a sense you were right :(
Simon is ex-military, it's basically in his blood to be vigilant and observant of his surroundings so it's only natural to observe such a sweet thing like you right? He's very much aware that this place is a shithole full of creeps and plain weird people but he's not one of them! He just wants to make sure that a young lady like yourself is safe and sound, and while preferably it'd be if you were naked in his bed and/or serving him and his creepy friends beer, beggars can't be choosers plus it will happen one day anyway given enough time.
So can you really blame him when he takes peaks through the chipped, old plaster wall with a hole that has a view right in your bedroom? The most intimate space of your modest home is right there for him to pluck.
Simon argues that it's purely for your safety; he sees you, this pretty girl, so soft and polite despite your circumstances and all his instincts go off! You're way too soft for your own good and he needs to make sure that you're alright.
And if you ask if watching you change and walk around your room naked is really necessary for your safety...? Well, he's only a man after all and Simon's fully convinced that he's entitled to your soft body, no one ever said that he's a noble man </3

I just texted to ask the neighbour with whom I swap cat sitting favours if she could catsit this weekend -- she is about 20 years younger than me and other than cats we have almost nothing in common -- and she texted back "i can do it. have your back" and then a hands-clasped emoji and I felt a rush of the kind of love that soldiers must feel for each other in foxholes.

can i be fr for a minute?? sending abuse to people online for holding different views than you is not activism and in fact actively hurts your cause. most people are not extreme in their viewpoints, you can give them a new perspective if you're willing to spend some time explaining shit. if someone is saying something you disagree with and you rush in there to condescend to them and call them disgusting and subhuman and dont even TRY to explain calmly why their views are harmful, they're going to shut you out instantly and double down on their views.
most people are simply genuinely ignorant to the issues they're talking about - they just pick their views up from the news and the world around them and express opinions because that's what every person does. if you run in there and tell them they're scum for it, what then? if someone does that to you, are you going to think "maybe i should do some research" or are you going to think "this person is an asshole, im blocking them." a lot of you think you're activists and then refuse to do any kind of actual WORK to support your cause.

In love with the (I believe canon) idea that all of Dick's neighbours know he's Nightwing (there have been multiple confirmed sighting and encounters) but because's he's such a sweetheart in and out of costume (Nightwing has comforted kids that were home alone, chased away robbers and helped someone get their groceries up when the lift was broken) that they all happily play dumb and protect him and the army of super friends and family entering and exiting that flat, all the while chiding Dick for his injuries, poor dating life and not eating well enough.

Read a very long scaremongering post about internet culture and the loss of community and it ended with "do you even know the names of your neighbours?" ...as if that was a big gotcha?
Like yeah I do, on one side is Stuart and Rena who are expecting their second grandchild very soon, and on the other side is Mark and his new missus Tracey and his son Ben (who is moving out soon). We send each other Christmas cards and compliment each other's Christmas and Halloween decorations. We bring each other's bins in.
If you want community with your neighbours you just have to accept that it's going to be a little awkward at first and push through the discomfort to make the barest of efforts.
I was definitely glad we already knew each other on the day I woke up at 7am to realise our gas hob had been leaking overnight and the house was full of gas. Mark next door saw the fire engine pull up, came out to see what was going on, and brought us into his house for a cuppa while we waited for the all clear.
Idk I'm just sick of people acting all doom and gloom about things that they absolutely have the ability to change 🤷🏻♀️

2bf i understand why working cockers are upping it in small agility rn aside from sheltie breeders being butts, with the speed and intensity the sport is encouraging rn you do get a lot for free if you switch out the attentive problem solver with a shaken coke can with fur you have to physically restrain from launching itself directly into the sun
