Well, it is a finished prototype. I did just the simplest construction I could think of (rectangle. Sew the sides), then put some thick felt at the bottom. I originally was going to do a drawstring but it didn't work out, so instead there is a button. The button allows it to be attached to the top of any crochet bag, which is a nice feature. It just hooks wherever it's secure.
So, pros: the felt works, the button is a good idea.
Cons: too short to hold dpns with the felt inside, which is a pretty glaring error. Oh well. Also, the shape of the felt makes it easier to put the tool between the felt and the fabric rather than totally encased in felt. So I need to rethink the felt shape for sure, if I do reuse it.
Also, I forgot how much difficulty I have unbuttoning things, so this probably saves zero time. More secure than what I was doing though. And learned a few valuable things.

28g Alpaca // 75g Scottish Blackface
Processed some of my newly washed fleece the other day into batts. I can’t say I enjoy fibre prep as much as spinning, but there is something meditative about it (and being able to point to the field where the fibre came from is very satisfying).
The issue with my last spin with this fibre was the sheer number of neps in it. I bought myself some hand combs for Christmas to help with this. I thought I was fairly ruthless removing them, however, I could have gone over everything a second time. I was still pulling some out whilst spinning, soI’ve set them aside for a tweed yarn in the future.
The yarn was spun 3ply and is fingering/light DK weight.
