A new cryptic species of Tylototriton (Amphibia, Caudata, Salamandridae) from mysterious mountain lakes in Manipur, north-eastern India
Ht. Decemson, Hmar Tlawmte Lalremsanga, Premjit Singh Elangbam, Mathipi Vabeiryureilai, Parag Shinde, Jayaditya Purkayastha, Dmitriy V. Arkhipov, Andrey M. Bragin, Nikolay A. Poyarkov
An integrative taxonomic analysis combining molecular and morphological lines of evidence revealed a new cryptic species in the Tylototriton verrucosus species group from Manipur, north-eastern India. The new species was previously confused with T. himalayanus and T. verrucosus. Tylototriton zaimeng sp. nov. can be distinguished from its congeners by medium body size, head massive and wide with rounded snout and very wide and protruding supratemporal bony ridges and a well-developed sagittal ridge, short limbs not overlapping when adpressed along body, wide and not segmented vertebral ridge distinct, 13–14 pairs of rib nodules, brown colouration with dull orange to yellowish-brown markings on head, vertebral ridge, rib nodules, palms, soles, vent and ventral tail ridge and by vomerine teeth organised in two distinctly curved bell-shaped series. Phylogenetic analysis of the ND2 and 16S rRNA mtDNA genes confirmed the placement of the new species to the Clade I of the subgenus Tylototriton and suggested it is a sister species of T. panwaensis and T. houi (p-distance 3.0% in ND2 gene). The range of the new species is restricted to the Khongtheng Mountain Range and is isolated from the range of T. panwaensis and T. houi in northern Myanmar and southern China, respectively. We suggest the new species to be considered as Vulnerable (VU) in the IUCN Red List.

We have a three-way tie for the most popular move, between f3, f4, and Nd2.
They will be 1, 2, and 3 respectively. Rolling a d3...
Tumblr media
The move will be Nd2.
The computer responds... Bxd4, capturing our knight.
Tumblr media
This was almost certainly the strongest of the moves by our estimate, though we here at anarchist chess do not for sure know this. There is an enormous amount of central tension, all likely to be broken in the following moves. But which capture will be the best response? Or is indeed an immediate retaliatory capture the best response? That's up to you to decide.
The deadline for this position is Midnight Pacific on June 11th. Get your moves in before then. Remember, they go in the askbox!

Sabers being worse than a bunch of good ol' gossiping ladies during a nice summer evening watching over their kids.
1 saber; did you hear? Apparently ND (Nie disciple) and ND2 are trying for kids!
2 saber; NO WAY! NOT MY FUCKING OWNER WITH THAT STRINGY ASS BITCH NO HELL NO!
3 saber; 1 saber, THEY AINT FUCKING MARRIED YO! MY HUMAN AINT ELOPING WITH THAT FUCKING STUPID MEATHEAD!
4 saber; Huehuehuehue~ i heard there's already a bun in the oven!
(actually, 1 saber was lost during the sects meeting, and instead heard the papapa of a certain bunny couple, but mistook it for 2 nie disciples cuz of plotholes, and 4 saber is a slut for fanning the flames of war.)
Imagine what it's like being a Nie Disciple during the Discussion Conference and having to keep a straight face while your saber starts muttering all sorts of creative insults directed by Jin Guangshan.

just for the hell of it i thought itd be fun to come up with my own 3rd generation of nintendogs.
ive been working on it for almost 3 hours now.
i have 3 games, each with 12 unique breeds, 6 new, 3 from nd1 and 3 from nd2 -- everything is mixed and matched
2 new events: flyball & scent tracking obedience & disc returning
PLUS instead of cats... this time its RABBITS AND GUINEA PIGS!! you can even enter them into races!! well... the guinea pigs you race and the rabbits u put into rabbit agility (its a real thing)
lots of multiplayer functionality every event has multiplayer functionality the pocket pet events have casual modes too so u can just chill in them
also location data!!! u pick the country u live in at the beginning of the game (it automatically picks the country that ur device is set to but you can manually change that) and so when u take ur dog out on walks u walk them around the most famous place of said country!! like for example if u pick Australia then u walk around circular quay!! you can change ur country later on in the game!! but you can only switch after 30 days!!! and no jumping time on ur device will not work. its like splatoon type thing with changing names and whatnot <3
...
also u get 4 dogs at a time instead of 3
and 3 pocket pets at a time
and u can take ur pocket pets out of the enclosure and they get put into a pen in the main room area so that ur dogs can interact w them and vice versa
...
yeah. im a genius.
theres also way more stuff that im just electing to leave out bc I'm lazy :)

For the player who was going to make the move the next day, a secret move was made by the last player to move the pieces, and placed inside an envelope that was signed by both players. After a hard battle, I managed to win this game. As they usually say fortune favors the braves.

A new species of the genus Cnemaspis Strauch, 1887 (Squamata: Gekkonidae) from the higher elevations of Tamil Nadu, India
Sayyed et al.
ABSTRACT
In this study, we present the description of a previously undocumented species of Cnemaspis found in the region of Tamil Nadu, India. Molecular analysis of the species reveals its placement within the Cnemaspis beddomei Theobald, 1876 clade, with a range of genetic divergence on the ND2 gene, spanning from 9.5% to 30.2% in comparison to its congeners. Although bearing a resemblance to the well-known Cnemaspis ornata Beddome, 1870, the new species exhibits a distinct set of non-overlapping morphological characteristics that set it apart. These findings are supported by molecular data, solidifying the distinction between the newly described species and its close relatives.
