GRADUATION MOMENTS

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF EDUCATION

Every child should receive an education. A good education can help kids become self-assured adults and provide doors to a variety of job options. Your future job can be paved with education, which also prepares you for a lifetime of learning. People can learn things that help them grow and develop, including information and skills. Perseverance is the mother of triumph.

It increases the capacity for critical thought, effective communication, and problem-solving. In terms of the individual and social levels, education has both intrinsic and extrinsic value. It is a fundamental human right and a requirement for human advancement.

THE FITTING OF A GRADUATION GOWN

Guys I am so excited, okay? my best friend, my sister and my everything my Lindokule Gwengula is graduating on the 19th of April 2023 at Nelson Mandela University. So, guys today it’s the 10th of April 2023 and it is the day that my best friend Lindokuhle will go and fit her graduation attire. So now we are in the Graduation Gown Shop in Port Elizabeth at Govan Mbeki Road.

The store assistant gave us the attire and showed us the dressing room where Lindokuhle will fit it. Lindokuhle then decided that if the attire was too long, she would ask them for the perfect size. Fortunately, she had the gown fitted, and now it is exactly how she wanted it to be—it fits her perfectly. I’ve included a photo of her wearing the grown in the changing room below. As she tried on her graduation gown and purchased the complete graduation attire, I was ululating next to her. After that, we returned to our residence in Summerstrand.

BOOKING A NAIL TECHNICIAN

It was two days now after we went for a gown fitting, so I decided to book a slot at a nail technician in Central for Lindo. She wanted long nails with an art and guess what? she got a 30% (thirty percent) discount since she is a loyal customer. The nail technician knows her job, I do not want to lie and to be honest I didn’t trust her since most of the people that I know have bad experience with her. Fortunately, she did her best to Lindokuhle, after she was done, I took the pictures for a TikTok content, not me guys ululating the time we were going out of the salon and saying ”our graduand” I was so happy some people laughed at me and it was at night, so our uncle came to fetch us “#nailsdone” that was my Lindokuhle saying that loudly and she was full of smiles.

GRADUATION DAY

It is the 19th of April 2023 the big day have arrived people and we are so happy. The Gwengula family was on their way since the graduation ceremony was going to start at 14:30 and the driving duration from a small town called Peddie to Port Elizabeth is 3 hours, so they wanted to be early. By 1 o'clock they called and told us they are passing the Town lodge in Summerstrand and we directed them to go to South campus Madibaz Indoor Sport Centre since the whole graduation ceremony was going to take place there.

Halala halala! (ululating) that was me entering in Kuhle’s room, I was so happy it felt as if I was the one who was graduating, I was screaming non-stop, congratulating her. The room was full, she was with Sihle her makeup artist, and her three friend the second one was also graduating with her. Not her saying ”the educated one is up! I’m talking about the graduate! Let’s show them flames…” lol she said this in isiXhosa, and she was so happy guys no cap.

The makeup artist did her best, she is good at her work, Kuhle wanted a full glam and full glam on makeup consists of lashes, the eyes are the main point, and they are often developed in many eye shadows with a red lip stick and Kuhle said to the makeup artist to use red and baby pink since the colors were linking with her red dress and transparent heels. Kuhle kept on saying this in IsiXhosa “guys don’t keep quiet, I have opened new clothes, speak about me please” and we laughed because that is a TikTok hilarious sound. So, she was referring to the full graduation attire and the outfit for the day.

Graduation is a symbol of one’s growth and personal development. It represents the information learned, the skills honed, and the experiences encountered while seeking an education. The ending of one chapter in one’s academic life and the beginning of another make graduation from university a significant event. There is currently a sense of celebration, acknowledgment, and potential.

One of the most important days in the life of a student who has finished their academic program successfully is graduation. It is a ceremony that signals the close of one chapter and the start of another in their lives. Here are some important graduation-related details. Graduation is a sign of success that honors a person’s commitment and hard work. It represents a student’s readiness to advance to the next stage of their life after successfully completing their academic degree.

CELEBRATORY SONGS

I wrote on our residence’s WhatsApp group that my best friend is ready to go out. So, we decided to sing celebratory songs called Amagwijo in isiXhosa for them, “the graduates” some of us were ululating and congratulating them for working hard and being perseverant.

She was with her other friend that was also graduating. No cap! they were both beautiful, Kuhle was wearing a red bob cube mini dress with a women rhinestone Decor chunky heeled ankle strap sandal. In the picture bellow we were continuing singing celebratory songs (Amagwijo) and accompanying Kuhle and other graduands to the gate. She planned to not to wear her gown in our residence, so she just wore the belt.

Lindokuhle and her other friend requested an uber from Sanlam Student Village to Indoor Sport Centre at South Campus. Her two grandmothers and aunt were already there at the venue. So I said I will meet them at the venue since I was walking with my two friends Sinovuyo and Kwanga. We took for about 30 (thirty) minutes to go to the venue, since it was extremely hot like a heater outside lol.

Then I saw Lindokuhle wearing her gown walking with her family, she was owning the spot walking confidently and feeling herself. Her earring fell on the ground, and I ran to pick up the earring and gave it to her. She then sent the ticket on WhatsApp for me to attend and celebrate the graduation ceremony. Below is the picture of the ticket and the graduation Autumn book, so we did go to the queue and the graduation ushers gave us the graduation Autum book we went inside and found a spot to sit on.

The vice chancellor Prof Sibongile Muthwa opened the ceremony with a prayer, and she welcomed the graduates. The Nelson Mandela choir started to sing their songs and no cap they have beautiful and angelic voices. Then I saw Mbali Ngube who is the choir conductor a friend of mine, I was so happy to see her and she was the leader of the song.

The ceremony started and it was now the time of Lindokuhle’s course, which is Diploma in Public Relations Management, so I told my friends to scream their lungs out when Kuhle’s name is called.

She was then given those tickets outside of the graduation venue and she seated on chair number M19.

So yeah, she was called to come forward and she was number six on the list of the Public Relations students. I screamed her name Lindokuhle Gwengula! Kuhle! I became so emotional and cried, not that I was in pains but I was so happy, I was excited that she managed to pass after so much stress that came with education. It was tears of joy and I wished that her mother was there to see her second daughter graduating. Graduation is also an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of graduates. It is a time for family, friends, and educators to acknowledge the hard work, perseverance, and dedication that cumulated in their academic achievements. Kuhle went outside Indoor Sport Centre since the ceremony was over, they sang celebratory songs with other graduates.

Her brother came with a balloon with roses and chocolates that were written congratulations. Everyone was happy, Kuhle took pictures with her grandmothers and aunt including us her friends. She came back to our residence and yes that was it. that was the end of her day.

She then decided to do a Tiktok challenge carrying her gift and she sang Mr west by Kanye West.

Then bellow it is her and I later on outside our residence and please guys don't mind my hair it's bad I know lol.

In a nutshell all the above pictures Kuhle “the graduate” took them with her friends and family. Indeed, perseverance is the mother of the triumph. Congratulations sister once again.
