eve’s masterlist

Today was the day. San was going to – officially – meet her brother. After four months – almost five – of dating, Eve and San were going to have dinner with Kibum. San had just come back from tour the day before and was a little tired but still excited to meet Kibum.

“I’m sorry we're doing this so soon after you came back. It's just surprisingly very hard to schedule something with this man. I usually show up unannounced and make him host,” Eve said from the driver's seat of the car after picking San up.

“It’s okay. I’m actually glad we're doing it now because I am so nervous and excited and I just want it to happen. Perfectly,” he added, wiping his hand on his jeans.

Eve glanced at him from the corner of her eye whilst navigating Seoul streets at night. “He's gonna love you. You said he was nice to you on Amazing Saturday! Also, my members love you and they're only slightly less protective of me,” she reassured him. “And if he doesn't like you, then we can be Romeo and Juliet.”

San looked at her with a hesitant expression on his face. “You do know how that story ends, right?”

“They get married?” she guessed with a shrug, still focused on the road. “I’ve never read Shakespeare. I find him boring.”

“They die at the end.”

Eve looked at San and then back at the road. “Wow. What a bummer. We can be some other great couple that goes against their family. But if Kibum ahjussi reacts the way I suspect he will, then we won’t have to.”

San smiled at her. “I missed you,” he said quietly, reaching over to hold Eve’s hand on the centre console.

“I missed you, too.” She blew him a kiss as she drove to the gate of Kibum’s apartment complex. “Hello, I’m here for Kim Kibum,” she told the security guard when he came to the car window.

“Does he know you’re coming?” he asked as he called Kibum’s apartment.

“Yes, he does,” Eve replied.

Kibum soon answered and gave the security guard permission to let them in. Eve quickly found a parking spot in the guest parking lot and switched off the car, turning to face San.

“You ready?” she asked.

San exhaled deeply and closed his eyes. “Not quite.”

Eve chuckled and reached over to brush her hand against his cheek, causing his eyes to flutter open. “He’s not gonna hate you. It’s impossible to.”

San nodded. “Okay. I’m ready.”

She smiled and leaned over to press a quick kiss on his lips, pulling back with a smile on her face. “Let’s go.”

They exited the car and walked hand in hand into the apartment building, taking the elevator to his floor until they stood in front of Kibum’s door. They shared one last look before Eve put in the code for the door, entering soon after.

“Honey, I’m home!” she shouted as she and San took off their shoes. Commes des and Garçon ran to greet her. Kibum soon appeared at the hallway wall, leaning against it with his right arm above his head and a smirk present as day on his face.

“Nabi,” he said cheerfully, walking to her with a pep in his step and hugging her when the dogs had gone to inspect San.

“What’s up with you? You sound like a stay-at-home mom that had a bottle of wine at 10 in the morning,” she said over his shoulder, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.

Kibum simply chuckled as he pulled out of their hug. “Don’t be silly,” he said, swatting Eve’s shoulder. He then focused his attention on San, who had been standing in the doorway awkwardly and waving at the two dogs. “You must be San,” he said as San bowed.

“Stop acting like this is your first time meeting him. He knows you're a weirdo,” Eve scolded from behind them, causing Kibum to glare at her before facing San again. She called Commes des and Garçon to her so she could play with them more, tickling the area behind their ears.

“Thank you for inviting me, sunbaenim,” San said.

Kibum waved him off. “Don’t mention it. Let’s go to the table.” He directed the both of them, turning the corner into the living room area where the dining room could be seen, plates of food sitting on the table. Commes des and Garçon went to their beds where they had their dinner laid out in front of them in their bowls. Eve stopped walking the moment they turned the corner and her eyes focused on three figures already sitting at the table.

“What are ahjussi’s one, four and five doing here?” As far as she was concerned, this was supposed to be dinner with Kibum only. She looked at her brother and suddenly his odd behaviour began to make sense. “You were acting like a drunk housewife because you invited the other ahjussi’s?”

Kibum just smiled and nodded, letting his cult leader smile drop from his face. “Of course I invited them. This is a family affair!”

Eve rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, scoffing. San looked between the two siblings, unsure of what to do.

“Yah! Stop fighting, you’re making Nabi’s boyfriend feel awkward,” Minho scolded from the table.

The siblings turned to look at San and took note of his posture. They looked at each other and silently agreed to a truce. Kibum led them to the table, them sitting on one side and Jinki, Minho and Taemin sitting on the other.

“So. Ahjussi’s. This is San,” Eve introduced when they were all seated. “San, this is Jinki, Minho and Taemin,” she said, pointing at each of the members when she said their names.

“Hello,” San greeted and the members greeted back. The house was soon engulfed in silence.

“This is very awkward,” Jinki commented.

“If I was told the other ahjussi’s would be here then I wouldn’t be this awkward, but no! Everything needs to be a secret!” Eve exclaimed, causing Taemin to laugh.

“How about we start eating?” Kibum suggested. Everyone else agreed and started picking at their plates. Kibum started reaching to cut the steak on Eve’s plate for her when she turned to look at San.

“Can you cut my steak for me?” she asked him sweetly.

All movement at the table stopped. Jinki froze with his fork halfway to his mouth. Minho’s hand was stuck in the air from when he was taking a sip of his wine. Taemin had his hand over his mouth in shock. Key squinted his eyes at his sister. San’s jaw dropped as his eyes flitted between everybody at the table.

San quickly got over his shock and leaned in to whisper in Eve’s ear, “Um, is– isn’t your brother supposed to do that?”

Eve merely shrugged as everyone watched with bated breath. “He’d argue that he didn't sign a contract so…”

San blinked. Twice. “Are you sure?”

Eve nodded with a smile. “Yes.”

San gulped. He slowly reached towards Eve’s plate as everyone watched him. He was about to hold the plate when he stopped. “No, this isn’t right! Your brother is supposed to do this, Biyah,” he whined, much to Eve’s amusement.

She pursed her lips to conceal her smile as Kibum covered his mouth with his hand. Taemin looked to the side so San couldn’t see his face. Minho coughed to cover his laughter. Jinki put his food in his mouth to keep himself busy.

“I mean,” he continued, seemingly unaware of everyone's reactions, “even if he invited his members without asking you, he should still cut your steak. You told me that if you’re eating steak with him, then he has to cut it for you. So, I’m not going to!” He finished passionately.

Eve burst out laughing uncontrollably, leaning back against the chair for support and the other four men followed her. San watched them with questioning eyes, confused at why they were laughing.

“Well done, Sannie,” Eve said after calming down. She reached over and tapped his nose, his eyes closing shut at the contact. “You passed.”

San looked from her to Kibum – who had also calmed down – and back at her. “I passed?”

She nodded. “Yep. Kibum oppa said that in order to get his stamp of approval, you need to respect that he’s the most important man in my life – his words not mine – and this was the only way to test that. Therefore, you passed.”

“Oh,” San said, still surprised. He slowly moved to face forward again. “Okay.”

“You see, San,” Kibum started after taking a sip of his wine. “Nabi is my baby sister, and I wouldn’t want her to date some asshole that thinks he’s more important than me. Obviously we are important to her in different ways, but at the end of the day, I’m her brother. And if her boyfriend had no problem disrespecting me, then he'd have no problem disrespecting our parents. And that’s something I can’t allow.”

San nodded in understanding as he listened to Kibum. “I would never try to disrespect you, sunbaenim. Or your parents. Or the rest of your family,” he vowed. “Nabi wouldn’t even let me. I know how important you are to her and I wouldn’t want to cause any problems with her relationship with her family.”

“That’s good,” Minho said as he cut up his steak. “I liked you from the moment she told us she was dating you,” he added matter-of-factly.

As San proceeded to talk with Minho, Jinki and Taemin, Eve turned to look at Kibum with a smile on her face. He reached over to squeeze his hand before cutting her steak up for her. She sent him a finger heart when he was done and ate a piece.

“As much as we tease Nabi,” she heard Jinki say as she started listening to the conversation, “we would bury a body for her,” he finished, crossing his arms.

“Even if that body is her first boyfriend,” Taemin added, half-jokingly, causing San to gulp. Eve kicked her leg out under the table and Minho let out a yelp.

“Ow!”

“Oops. That was for the oppa on your left,” she said, gesturing at Taemin. Minho punched Taemin in the arm, who immediately gasped in pain.

“Okay, I’ll dial it back,” he said, raising his arms in mock surrender.

“Goes to the military and immediately starts threatening people.” Eve scoffed.

The rest of the night went by in a blur. After finishing dinner, they all went to the sitting room and sat on the couch. Commes des and Garçon quickly warmed up to San and started fighting for his attention, causing Eve to pout because “Why aren’t they fighting for my attention?”. They played Monopoly and San beat all of them flawlessly, triggering Eve and Minho’s competitive spirits. To end the night, the SHINee members shared embarrassing stories of Eve.

“She just shaved it off,” Taemin said through his laughter. He was telling the story of the time Eve accidentally shaved off one of her eyebrows with Minho’s shaver.

Eve huffed and crossed her arms. “I thought it was a skin softener! I didn’t know why you used it all the time!”

San looked at her with pursed lips, trying not to laugh. She rolled her eyes at him and he burst out in laughter. “I’m sure you looked really cute,” he said.

“I think I have a picture of her,” Jinki spoke up, reaching for his phone. Eve scrambled to steal his phone and held it to her chest.

“Nobody can see these photos,” she said seriously.

San and her soon got ready to leave. She said goodbye to the boys, hugging them all before walking to the door as San bowed respectfully to them. Kibum walked them to the elevator.

“It was nice to officially meet you, San,” Kibum said, sticking his hands in his pocket as they waited for the elevator to arrive.

“You too, sunbaenim,” San sincerely responded.

“Thanks for not being annoying,” Eve thanked Kibum.

He rolled his eyes. “Thanks for only being mildly annoying.”

The elevator came and the two got in.

“Bye, oppa,” Eve said as she and San waved goodbye. Kibum waved goodbye to both of them as the doors shut.

When they got in the car, San let out a deep exhale and Eve chuckled as she fished her keys out of her pocket.

“How was it?” She asked, putting the key in the ignition and starting the car.

“Great!” He exclaimed. “They really love you,” he observed.

She shrugged as she pulled out the parking space and drove out the apartment complex, waving at the security guard. “Yeah, I’m their baby. They’re super protective of me. I’m basically Yeri but in JYP. And related to one of the members.” She rested her hand on the centre console and San soon linked his fingers with hers.

“I’m glad you have so many people that care about you,” he said.

Eve smiled. “Me too.”

“Did you know he was inviting his members?” He asked once they arrived at his dorm building. “Like, was that part of your plan?”

Eve shook her head. “I didn’t have a clue. The only plan we had was to get you to do something that he’s supposed to do. I merely saw my opportunity and took it.”

“Well, you guys really had me convinced,” San said as he got out of the car. He walked around to Eve’s side and she rolled down her window. “Goodnight, Biyah.”

Eve reached out and held San’s face in her hands, pulling his face to hers and placing a kiss on his lips. “Goodnignt, Sannie,” she said once she pulled away.

*CINTA PASTI MENEMUKAN JALANNYA*

Dikisahkan cerita cinta Ali dan Fathimah, putri Rasulullah, bahkan lebih romantis dari kisah Romeo dan Juliet. Cintanya yang tersimpan dalam diam dan disampaikan melalui doa, yang bahkan setanpun tak tahu rasa itu ada di hati mereka. Cinta yang membawa ketaqwaan dan ketaatan pada Rabb nya. Sungguh Allah menjaga hati mereka dalam kemuliaan.

Sebelum Ali, Fathimah pernah dilamar oleh sahabat Rasul yang lain, yaitu Abu Bakar dan Umar. Namun Rasulullah menolaknya dengan halus. Lalu, Ali memberanikan diri untuk datang pada Rasulullah walauia tak punya apapun.

Rasul bertanya, "Wahai Ali! Apakah kamu memiliki sesuatu? " . Lalu Ali menjawab, " Tidak ada ya Rasulullah" . "Lantas di manakah baju besi al-Khuthaimah yang pernah aku berikan kepadamu pada hari lalu?” “Masih aku bawa ya Rasulullah.” Jawab Ali. Selanjutnya Nabi SAW bersabda, “Berikanlah barang itu kepada Fathimah sebagai mahar.”

Maka sungguh, apa yang telah ditakdirkan padamu, tak akan melewatkanmu. Dan apa yang tidak datang padamu, semoga ada sesuatu yang lebih baik dari itu.

Kisah kita memang tidak sesempurna kisah cinta Romeo dan Juliet.

Hidup kita pun tidak sepanjang hidupnya kaum Nabi Nuh yang Beratus taun lamanya.

Tapi setidaknya disingkat waktu yang pernah kita lalui, aku pernah memperjuangkanmu dan cinta ini meski tidak sekeras perjuangan para pahlawan dimasa penjajahan dulu.

Positive Love

Bicara tentang cinta, hahaha. Khas banget anak muda, yaa? Dari usia awal pubertas sampai menjelang usia menikah, bahkan udah tua pun, gak ada habisnya masalah cinta dibahas. Mulai dari Dilan-Milea yang SMA sampai Habibie-Ainun yang menua bersama.

Memangnya, apa sih yang dimaksud dengan cinta?

Kalau menurut Teori Segitiga Cinta yang dikemukakan oleh Robert J. Sternberg, cinta mengandung 3 komponen, yaitu:

Keintiman (Intimacy), yaitu elemen emosi yang di dalamnya mencakup keakraban dalam hubungan. Gejalanya adalah merasa nyaman berlama-lama dengan seseorang dan rindu apabila tidak bersama.

Gairah (Passion), yaitu elemen motivasional yang didasari dorongan dalam diri yang bersifat seksual.

Komitmen (Commitment), yaitu elemen kognitif berwujud keputusan dan tekad untuk tetap menjalankan suatu hubungan.

Namun, teori ini rasanya sangat "Amerika" yaa? Mengingat Sternberg memang berasal dari sana. Cinta didefinisikan amat sempit dalam teori yang dikeluarkan pada tahun 1988 ini. Cinta, bahkan sampai sekarang, masih ada yang tergila-gila karena si dia yang katanya menaklukkan sekaligus menentramkan hati. Cinta sejati, katanya menaklukkan segalanya, sampai Romeo rela menenggak racun yang meregang nyawanya di depan mayat Juliet yang pura-pura meninggal. Juliet terbangun, melihat Romeo tak bernyawa di sebelahnya. Juliet yang malang, kemudian menusuk dirinya sendiri demi mati bersama yang amat dicintainya.

Begitukah bentuk cinta yang positif?

Tanpa mengurangi rasa hormat pada mahakarya Shakespeare, kurasa cinta tidak sesempit itu. Apalagi cinta yang positif, jelas sangat berbeda dengan tragedi cinta Romeo dan Juliet. Walaupun bisa dikatakan cinta mereka sempurna karena memiliki 3 komponen dalam Teori Segitiga Cinta yang dikemukakan oleh Sternberg. Consummate love, Romeo dan Juliet memiliki paduan yang lengkap antara keintiman, gairah dan komitmen, sampai mengantarkan mereka dalam mati bersama sebagaimana keabadian cinta bagi mereka.

Sementara, definisi cinta begitu luas, begitu indah dan hidup! Cinta tidak sebatas harus memiliki. Tidak sebatas, "cinta ditolak, dukun bertindak." Apalagi sampai bunuh diri ketika sadar cintanya berkhianat, bertepuk sebelah tangan, atau dianggap hanya sebagai teman.

Cinta itu luas, seluas alam semesta beserta isinya yang Allah berikan pada setiap makhluk-Nya. Tanpa cinta-Nya, bahkan debu tidak akan berpindah tempat.

Cinta itu indah, seindah kerelaan hati Salman Al-Farisi yang datang melamar seorang perempuan Madinah. Ditemani dengan saudara Ansharnya, Abu Darda, kemudian menjadi pengantar dalam menyampaikan maksud kedatangan. Namun sang perempuan lebih memilih sang pengantar daripada sang pelamar.

Cinta itu hidup, sehidup selimut kenyamanan dari dalam hati Khadijah kepada Sang Nabi SAW ketika Nabi kembali ke rumah dengan perasaan sangat takut selepas Jibril pertama kali datang dan menyampaikan wahyu pertama Allah kepada Sang Nabi.

"Tidaklah demikian.. Dengarlah.. Demi Allah, bergembiralah.. Ia tidak akan merendahkan dan menghinamu sedikit pun. Demi Allah! Karena engkau selalu menyambung silaturrahim, jujur dalam berkata, menunaikan amanah, suka menerima tamu, tabah dalam derita, dan suka menolong orang yang dilanda musibah!"

Begitu tulus, begitu hidup.

Tulisan ini adalah hasil pergerakan jiwa, yang dibangkitkan melalui mahakarya Ustadz Salim A. Fillah. Jalan Cinta Para Pejuang. Barakahnya terasa, tulisannya amat mendekatkan diri pada Yang Maha Kuasa. Menampar, memberikan refleksi kepada diri untuk berpikir luas tentang cinta. Bahwa cinta itu selalu bersifat positif, karena cinta itu sejatinya menggerakkan, bukan melayukan. Menghidupkan, bukan mematikan.

Cinta adalah pengorbanan seorang ibu yang ditinggal suaminya, kemudian ia bekerja keras demi menghidupi anak-anaknya.

Cinta adalah do'a yang dipanjatkan seorang anak untuk kesehatan dan perlindungan ayah dan ibunya setiap seusai shalat.

Cinta adalah menanyakan kabar kepada saudara yang dikenal, menyambung silaturrahim dilandaskan niat yang tulus dan kebeningan makna akan ukhuwah.

Cinta adalah merawat seekor kucing yang tergeletak di pinggir jalan. Membawanya ke rumah dan memberikannya makanan dan minuman yang layak.

Cinta adalah keteguhan hati seorang guru dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai kebaikan dengan prinsip keteladanan.

Cinta adalah pengorbanan waktu dan tenaga seorang ayah mengumpulkan satu persatu kantong sampah dari rumah warga demi menafkahi keluarganya secara halal.

Cinta adalah bergandengan tangan sepanjang jalan meski usia pernikahan telah mencapai 40 tahun.

Cinta adalah menahan rasa sakit dan memilih untuk bertahan hidup meskipun hanya sebatang kara selepas musibah melanda wilayahnya dan merenggut nyawa seluruh anggota keluarganya.

Akhir kata, semoga cinta selalu menjadi energi untuk kita setiap hari! :)

Kapan nikah ?

Untuk yang sudah mulai memasuki tahapan usia 20tahun keatas terutama wanita, dan kebetulan belum menemukan pasangan hidup, pasti lah sudah lazim dengan pertanyaan kapan yang terkadang dilontarkan oleh sembarang orang, i mean even people you just meet can ask bout that thing. Oh c'mon whats wrong dengan wanita 20tahunan belum nikah. What ? Are they ask you for financial support ?. I really cant get it. Kenapa setiap orang dari kalangan manapun bahkan, mau dikata orang kampung even yang kata nya orang kota sekalian, pendidikan biasa aja sampai pedidikan tinggi sekalipun selalu curious bout why wanita 20tahunan belum nikah juga. Kenapa memang nyaa ?? Kenapaaa ??. I just cant get it, salah nya dimana gitu. Did you ever think apa yang udah mereka laluin dalam hidup, sehingga menikah bukan lah menjadi prioritas utama. Did you ? Ya, untuk orang orang diluar sana, yang sudah menemukan tambatan hati, pasangan hidup, people that you want to share your life with, then lucky you. But some people including me in this case, its not that simple. Terlebih untuk saya, pertanyaan kapan nikah hanya akan saya tanggapi jika itu dari keluarga inti, sekali lagi keluarga inti dan teman terdekat, yang benar benar dekat. Bukan karena sensi umur saya sudah 25tahun dan belum juga menikah, but for me menikah bukan hanya sekedar tentang sudah umur nya, bukan sekedar teman teman yang lain udah, bukan juga karena omongan tetangga atah bahkan desakan orang tua yang ingin segera menimang cucu dari anak bungsu nya. Bagi saya menikah lebih sarat makna dari sekedar kata cinta yang ditujukan romeo untuk juliet. Ya saya memang tidak bisa memaknai arti menikah dengan dua orang yang jatuh cinta, berbagi hidup bersama, kemudian bahagia selama nya. Entah sejak umur berapa, saya merasa itu semua too good to be true. Kenapa menjadi begitu complicated, ini hanya tentang mencintai dan dicintai, ini ibadah, sunah nabi. Ya, saya tau dan tidak menyangkal itu semua. Saya akan ceritakan sebuah cerita tentang keluarga yang (harusnya) bahagia. Masih lekat dalam ingatan saya betapa harmonis dan hangat nya keluarga ini, waktu itu saya masih anak kecil ingusan, yang kalau ditanya mau jajan apa geleng geleng kepala, tapi begitu dikasih jajanan tidak sekalipun saya tolak. Keluarga ini terdiri dari 5, Bapak, Ibuk, Anak 2 laki laki dan satu perempuan. Mereka adalah keluarga bahagia yang berkecukupan. Cukup mampu untuk membelikan anak anak nya mainan model terbaru. Cukup mampu pergi tamasya di akhir pekan bersama seluruh anggota keluarga. Cukup mampu mebelikan baju baru lebih dari satu pasang menjelang hari raya. Keluarga ini cukup membuat saya iri. Ketika akan berangkat kerja sang bapak selalu menyempatkan mencium kening sang istri, betapa hangat nya, itu yang ada dalam pikiran anak kecil ingusan pada waktu itu. Karena hal seperti itu untuk kehidupan di perkampungan, bukan lah hal yang lazim, bahkan keluarga yang hangat seperti mereka hanya saya temui dalam sinetron. Then time flies. Berpuluh tahun kemudian si anak kecil ingusan tadi, telah tumbuh menjadi anak remaja kuliahan, then she know the fact dibalik keluarga hangat bahagia. She know that si bapak yang selalu hangat, yang tidak pernah lupa mencium kening si ibuk sebelum berangkat kerja, he's cheating on his wife. Oh really ? I just cant believe it. I mean setelah bertahun2 menikah, punya anak dan keluarga yang hangat, masih ada aja celah untuk cheating ?? Disini logika saya beku, karena untuk saya apapun alasan nya tidak ada pembenaran dalam perselingkuhan, even itu dalam pacaran apalagi pernikahan. 25tahun kehidupan, bertemu berbagai macam orang, dari berbagai kalangan, dan saya tau bahwa banyak orang yang mengalami seperti yang saya ceritakan. And even worst ada yang memilih untuk menjalani hidup sebagai istri kedua, bahkan hanya sebagai simpanan. Dari semua hal itu, pernikahan bukan lagi sebuah mimpi yang indah bagi saya. Penikahan justru meninggalkan trauma tersendiri dalam pikiran saya. Banyak sekali what if yang terpikirkan oleh saya. What if i getting married and then in a couple years got my husband cheating on me, or even worst its me cheating on my husband. What if when i getting married then my husband its not the same person anymore, what if my husband get bored to me, what if when i have a child then my husband not loving me the same way anymore. And there is so much what if thought. Ya memang tidak semua yang seperti itu, ya memang ada pasangan pasangan yang masih tetap hangat bahkan sampai mereka sudah punya cucu yang beranjak remaja. Tidak saya pungkiri itu. Tapi 8:2 ? Bukan berarti saya tidak percaya cinta, saya hanya tidak paham konsep nya. Banyak yang bilang ....yah nama nya juga hidup sudah bertahun2 dengan orang yang sama pasti lah ada rasa jenuh nya, ada rasa bosan nya, wajar lah. Selingkuh kan cuma main main saja.... Entah saya yang terlalu kulot, tapi bagi saya pernikahan terlalu sakral untuk diselingi dengan "main main saja" Bagaimana bisa ada rasa bosan ketika kau hidup bersama orang yang mencintaimu dan kau cintai ? Apalagi jika sudah punya anak, bukan kah harus nya setiap hari kau malah semakin jatuh cinta ? Yaaa kalau sekedar selisih paham, perbedaan pendapat itu pasti, dan harus ada memang. Tapi bukan berarti hanya karena tak sepaham tentang beberapa hal dalam rumah tangga lantas kau berfikir untuk selingkuh bukan ? Selemah itu kah yang kau sebut kau mencintai nya itu ? Pernikahan its not that simple. Ini semua tentang keyakinan, saat kau yakin bahwa dia lah orang nya, you know she/he is the one. You feel that you finally found someone you looking for all this time. Someone who is complete you. Someone you know that will loving all your perfect imperfection. Someone who will stay in love with you no matter what. Not just fall in love with your look. And most important thing is you surely know that someone you want to share your life with is someone you can talk everything about, someone who need you, not just want you. Karena bagi saya, bersama dengan orang yang kita tau bersama nya kita tak akan pernah kehabisan bahan percakapan adalah hal yang sangat sangat sangat penting. Kenapa ? Karena saat tua nanti, saat tubuh sudah mulai lemah, usia sudah mulai renta, yang bisa selalu kita lakukan dengan pasangan adalah bercerita, sebuah percakapan yang tidak ada habis nya. Bayangkan jika kau bersama orang yang mau ngobrolin apa aja juga nggak nyambung, how can you spent the rest of your life with him/her. Bahkan ada yang bilang bahwa saya belum menikah karena saya terlalu pemilih. You read it right. Terlalu pemilih they said . Jadi gini ya, even mau beli tomat di pasar bukan kah kita pilih dulu ?? Ya masak orang yang akan dinikahi, yang bersama nya akan saya habiskan sisa hidup saya, yang bersama nya akan saya besar kan anak anak kami nantik, yang bersama nya saya akan menua, nggak saya pilih pilih dulu. Kan nggak mungkin asal ketemu orang dijalan trus diajakin nikah ya mau mau aja. Enggak gitu kan ? To those who finally found the one, make sure your love is unconditionally, so there is nothing you will complain about someday, cause you love him/her that much. To people out there who have same thougt with me, sama sama wanita 20tahunan belum menikah, mari kita sama memperbaiki diri agar pada waktu nya nanti dipertemukan dengan takdir kita. Menikah memang ibadah, tapi bukan berarti kami yang belum menikah ini tidak ingin beribadah. Menikah memang hal baik yang hendak nya disegerakan, tapi bukan berarti kami yang belum ini tidak ingin menyegerakan. Jadi kapan nikah ?

How Aster Farms is Rebuilding After the Mendocino Complex Fire

Aster Farms was devastated by fire. But with the help of their community, they’re rebuilding.

Over the course of 2018, California has suffered both its largest and its most destructive wildfires. The Camp Fire is the state’s most destructive, burning over 142,000 acres, killing at least 85 people, and destroying more than 18,000 structures. These totals are apt to rise, as not all of the missing have been accounted for and the fire still isn’t fully contained. In July, the Mendocino Complex Fire—comprised of both the Ranch and smaller River fires—became California’s largest at over 458,000 acres, though it only destroyed some 280 structures.

Among them were several belonging to Aster Farms, an Upper Lake cannabis company founded in 2016 by husband-and-wife team Julia Jacobson and Samuel Ludwig on the farm where Director of Cultivation Noah Cornell had lived since 2008. Four months later, the company is just getting back on their feet; today, Jacobson describes the farm’s garden as “a little oasis of green amidst moonscape.” How does one recover from complete devastation? Jacobson and Ludwig say it’s all about gratitude, community support, and looking for the silver lining.

Both Jacobson and Ludwig had used cannabis for medicinal purposes prior to becoming entrepreneurs in the industry. Jacobson used it for insomnia and chronic migraines, while Ludwig found it provided relief for a shoulder injury that never fully healed. As California moved towards the legalization of recreational cannabis, the couple found themselves wanting to start a brand they’d like to buy: safe, sustainable, local, clean—the kind of cannabis you’d buy at Whole Foods, if Whole Foods sold cannabis. Ludwig’s childhood friend, Noah Cornell, has a degree in sustainable agriculture and had already been cultivating for over a decade. In 2016, the trio decided to use the soil Cornell had already been working on for their new venture and Aster Farms was born.

But on July 27, Jacobson recalled stepping outside to take a break from packaging and spotting a huge plume of smoke coming over a nearby ridge. This is the same day the fire was first reported, though they’d spend three days watching and waiting, setting up sprinklers, and preparing for a possible evacuation. Cornell and his family did not sleep in their home on the property, just in case something happened overnight. Ludwig remembered occasionally driving off the farm and down the road to see where the fire had spread.

“We were basically surrounded on all sides by these massive plumes of smoke to the north and south of us,” he said. “At one point, the plumes actually met above us and let off this very eerie, orange, apocalyptic light all over the area over our property and probably beyond. It wasn’t just about seeing the fire, but also seeing all the firemen, firetrucks, and planes dropping retardant all around us. It felt very ominous.”

The Aster team had hoped, on the second day, that the planes soaring overhead might be the farm’s salvation. Yet they seemed to pass the farm by without dropping water or fire retardant.

“It was pretty tough to stomach,” Jacobson said. “When we saw the planes coming, we were shouting and cheering and high-fiving. I think I even called my mom and said, ‘they’re here, it’s going to be over.’ And they didn’t drop and just went away.”

Likely complicating matters was the Carr Fire, threatening the city of Redding. The Aster team understood that the more populated area may have been prioritized over their location, which remains largely rural. By comparison, the Carr Fire is now ranked as the seventh most destructive fire in California history.

The Evacuation

When winds again shifted the fire in Aster Farms’ direction, the team began taking photos for insurance purposes, gathering the rest of their belongings, and rounding up their animals. They were easily able to ready their two dogs and were grateful that two of their farm cats wandered into the garage as they were packing up. But, they couldn’t find Harry, a friendly half-bobcat, half-tabby that had lived on the property with the Cornells for several years.

“He was roaming around and not anywhere we could catch him when we were evacuating,” Jacobson said. “That was horrible, searching desperately for an animal that you love, knowing that you have to leave them.”

Yet as Harry remained missing, another animal appeared: a stray Yorkshire Terrier covered in matted fur they called Flash, as they typically only saw the tiny dog darting among bushes and trees. In the weeks leading up to the fire, they’d begun to see her more often and one farm employee had even been able to get Flash to eat food from her hand.

“She was just standing there in front of us. We were positive she knew something was wrong. I reached down, and she just looked up and knew she had to be saved,” Jacobson said.

So, Flash accompanied the group out of the area and to safety. Their escape was not a harrowing one, like the panicked tales that have since come out of Paradise, CA. Aster Farms had something many in the Camp Fire did not: time to prepare.

Once they’d made it out, it was a long wait to find out what, if anything, was left. For over a week, mandatory evacuations prevented the team from returning.

“When you’re locked out for 10 days, all you have are the satellite images,” Jacobson said. “It was really tough, just wondering what happened.”

The Aftermath

When they finally returned, the devastation was shocking. The Cornell family’s home was gone, as were Aster Farms’ office and their large garden and its some 500 plants. A smaller garden of 100 plants yielded just 13 that had survived completely, but the others died over the course of those 10 days as damaged irrigation lines prevented them from getting any water. While one of their popular strains, Maui OG, survived, their Sour Maui did not. Other surviving structures included a shed and some fencing. Jacobson was relieved that they had yet to start construction on a planned buildout of their processing facility and new greenhouses, as those might have been lost, too.

There was no time to dwell on what had happened. Jacobson said they immediately began clearing out dead plants and tilling the soil. Neighbors helped them hang flyers and set up traps and cameras in search of Harry, whom they hoped had been able to flee. The cannabis community rallied around Aster; Top Hat Nursery in Salinas donated 400 cannabis plants, while Terra Vesco in Sonoma offered them compost and fertilizer. Aster’s distributors, Nabis and Filigreen, graciously waived transportation costs when bringing the donated plants and planting material to the property.

Aster is now making strides towards a fresh future. A new greenhouse, which they hope will be up and running in the next few months, will feature a light-deprivation cycle of both Sour Maui and Maui OG. Flash has since been checked out by a veterinarian and cleaned up by a groomer. She’s now a part of the Aster family and “lives for pets,” according to Jacobson.

Moving Forward

Though they don’t expect another wildfire to hit the area for at least another 15 to 20 years, making the farm fire defensible has become a large priority. Precautions include clearing out at least 30 feet of defensible space around the farm, meaning clearing the brush and trees so that if a fire does come, it has no fuel to spread further. They’ve also acquired an additional water tank and as they rebuild structures, will consider fire-defensible materials and building at an angle that will work with the surrounding ridge patterns so that flames will go up and over instead of straight through.

There’s a part of the process, however, that isn’t about structures built, angles considered, or plants in the freshly tilled soil. Some of it is emotional; how does one lose so much, but maintain the will to move forward?

“What’s really helped move forward are the silver linings,” Jacobson said. “And the biggest one is that we get to rebuild the farm of our dreams. That doesn’t just mean the Aster Farms cultivation, but [Cornell’s] house as well.”

She continues, “It takes a long time. I’ll say that. But every day, we just look at these silver lining and we are so thankful that we had time to escape…We were incredibly unlucky the with the largest wildfire in California history, only 200 structures burned and we were one of them, but the support from the community has really allowed us to get back on our feet quickly.”

As a thanks to the community, Aster Farms has released a new product line called Harry’s Harvest, named in honor of Harry the cat. From each 5-pack of joints, rolled with a combination of the farm’s flower, $2 will be donated to the Hopland and Lakeport volunteer firehouses. In the future, Jacobson said they hope to donate to nonprofits that work with the opioid crisis and veterans. Those who are in areas where Harry’s Harvest is not currently available may donate to Aster Farms’ Crowdrise to support these causes.

As for Harry himself, he remains missing. Ludwig said he hopes that the cat ran in a different direction and found safety at a nearby water source.

“Hopefully, he’s far away and living an amazing bobcat life and maybe one day, he will find his way home,” Jacobson said.

Geçen gün zatürre teşhisi konulan ve hastaneye kaldırılan Nur Subaşı yaşamını yitirdi. 76 yaşındaki tiyatro ve dublaj sanatçısı Nur Subaşı’nı büyük bir çoğunluk, Şirinler adlı çizgi filmle tanıyor. Peki, Nur Subaşı kimdir?

Nur Subaşı geçen gün Selanik’te rahatszılanmış ardından da apar topar İstanbul’a getirilmişti. Usta sanatçı Florya’da özel bir hastanede tedavi altına alınmıştı.

76 yaşındaki Nur Subaşı’ndan akşam saatlerinde üzücü bir haber geldi ve oyuncunun yaşamını yitirdiği öğrenildi.

Subaşı’nın sesi, Şirinler adlı çizgi filmin girişindeki “iyi bir çocuk olursanız belki Şirinleri bile görebilirsiniz” seslendirmesiyle hafızalara kazınmıştı.

NUR SUBAŞI KİMDİR?

1942 yılında doğan Nur Subaşı, Ankara Devlet Konservatuarı yüksek bölümünü bitirdi. Önce Ankara Devlet Tiyatrosunda görev yaptı. İstanbul Devlet Tiyatrosu 1979 yılında kuruduğunda ilk tayın olanlardan biri oldu. Tiyatro oyunculuğunun yanı sıra pek çok sinema filminde seslendirme yaptı.

Sanatçı, tatil için gittiği Selanik’te rahatsızlanmasının ardından yoğum bakıma kaldırılmış ve zatürre teşhisi konmuştu.
