Thank you for @mysteriouslover1516 for asking me this interesting question.

How do I imagine Jake?

(Please refrain from reading this if you haven't completed the game as this contains some spoilers. :) I recommend you to finish the game and come back to read this after).

I imagine Jake as a reserved personality. I imagine his life to be difficult and much of a loner. That's why he's easily feeling shy.

He prefers to appear mysterious because he needs to maintain his identity a secret, being chased by the government and all, he appears creepy to most others but he doesn't feel scary or creepy at all to MC. Most probably because he helps MC with many hacking perks from the very beginning to help them in finding the suspect. And he also shows how he only trusts MC and is willing to work together with them so MC sees him as a partner not as someone who is scary or creepy at all (despite all the questionable hacked sources ofc). ;) Ofc there are many things about him that are still mysterious to MC and let's hope MC can know more about him. Only to MC especially. :)

He doesn't show his emotion much except when he's with MC so most probably he's an introvert person who will warm up with certain ppl whom he is already familar and feeling close with. Just like how he is with Hannah.

I think Jake is also a curious person. He's curious because MC is like an "X" factor that remains as something unpredictable and surprising to him in so many aspects and layers. He also really appreciates and respect MC. One of the reasons is because he learns many things about MC that he finds endearing to him. For one, he tried to half force MC into the problem He's in and MC has every chance they have to ignore but they choose not to. Next, MC even indirectly, if not directly, defends him from the group and keep his identity and any information about him safe from anyone. MC never blames Jake too much about the problem that comes after. Next, Jake seemed like he never really worked with a partner that he feels close to him before and I mean not physically close but psychologically and he's surprised that he feels that way about MC. (Tbh I didn't expect to fall in love with his character too).

Through these qualities Jake deems MC as a valuable partner he can trust.

He's also a secretly caring and a romantic person. Many times when MC was in trouble he jumped in and helped out without being asked. He also can suddenly type out something or do something that's just simply romantic out of nowhere. That random "Do you like chinese" question and statement about it reminds him of MC. Also how he just blurt out about how his mind can't focus on his task cause his mind always flies back to MC. I find it as romantic, but how he says it in a non flirty and non cringe kind of way... It does tremendous damage to my heart, ack. I find it so charming. (Yes, I'm a sucker for someone who can show that he cares in a non cringey way).

Up to this point, we can assume Jake as someone who can't control his feelings specifically, love. But he seems to be a calm and collected person, usually, maybe unless when it comes to love. :) Remember how he's annoyed because phil called MC for help and he admitted, "Yes. I'm not usually like this."

Accompanying his caring personality is his protective behavior. He protects MC from his pursuers, he created Nymos 💙 He is also so very determined in preventing MC from going to Duskwood at any cost. Also He finds it hard to turn his back on Hannah's case and even if he tried to cut any contact with Hannah, when she asked him for help, he finds it hard to refuse. Does he have hero complex, hmm not really, more like he has the protagonist qualities.

I think he's actually not a brave person inside, that's why he is charmed by how brave MC was pictured in the story. He's afraid of losing someone he loves. But despite not being brave enough, he always tries to act strong and put up a brave front.

When he loves someone he seems to be the type that is gonna go all out or nothing. I give it my all or I don't go at all. :)

I also imagine him as the type who won't easily fall in love. He fell for MC under very exceptional case which makes his love feel exceptional and rare. Maybe he secretly believes in destiny and that he will meet the one for him.

He's also loyal and ofc as we all know, extremely smart. He's mostly rational and not emotional except for some cases that involve people who are important to him.

He's not selfish. He honestly doesn't want to drag people to his mess that's why he pushed away MC at first because he knows it's dangerous to be with him.

I also imagine him as someone who can't be easily impressed by others. (Only when you do very exceptional thing that would impress him, ofc MC always impresses him, but hey Thomas did impress him too, once, if I'm not mistaken).

He's awkward with crowds. He often doesn't know the right words to say so he keeps it short and straightforward. He claimed to be able to handle bad guys and bad situations better ;)

He is honest except for things he needs to keep secret because he thinks it's to protect someone or keeping someone safe. So he does keep secrets but all the things he ever said is honest and the truth. Because everytime MC said "you're keeping something from me aren't you?" He never denies it. So he's not a liar.

He's pretty nerdy too :) why, because he rarely says anything except for the case they're working on or when he's explaining stuff that he's found and he's interested in (flashbacks to when he talks about the history of ironsplinter mine in long lines to MC, lol.)

He's very observant. Maybe part of the perks for being very smart and having a curious mind.

He's not good at reading people but he can take hints and not completely clueless.

He's stubborn alright. He needs some convincings if you want him to do otherwise. And there will be no discussion if it's a matter of MC's safety.

Yes, you read it right, Jake is NOW OFFLINE. :)

He also has a cute quirk, unique, and special talent for understatements. :D when we told him he was surrounded by his pursuers he just said "This is not good."

I find how he's always typing his words in a formal/serious sentence and ending them with a period as something that is not awkward at all. It's charming and hot. :) And his smileys, and his 'haha.' And 'hehe.' Aaaaa..

So yes, he is a cool, charming, closet romantic introvert kind of person with all those qualities I have mentioned above which make him this complete personality, the Duskwood Hacker Jake that we all come to love. 💙

Based on Jonah Kagen's song Hill that I'll Die On. Read part one first if not already read.

You think I don’t notice

Those eyes becoming hopeless

“Hannah? Richy? Please…..say something.” MC spoke inside the dark mine, the fear coursing through her veins. Her heart raced as she heard the gravel crunch underneath her feet, the howling of the wind sounding eerily similar to ghostly warnings.

All the things you’d never told me

The side that people seldom see

The glow of the flashlight was doing little to provide sufficient illumination in the tunnel, MC’s left hand grazing against the mine wall as she slowly kept walking.

It’s scary, the burdens that you’ve buried

And I would love to share with you

Her thoughts were slowly spiraling into a whirlwind of emotions. She couldn’t help but remember what Jake had asked her before she had ventured into the Grimstone.

“MC, I need you to consider something. I want you to be prepared……..the culprit may not be the one who we had originally suspected.”

“What are you trying to say?”

Just call and I’ll be there for you

“MC, please, just listen to me. I think the culprit might be someone very close to you and the others….someone you would least suspect. I can’t brush the feelings aside anymore.”

“What?”

“MC……I have reason to believe the perpetrator is actually your friend, Richy.”

‘Cause darling when it hurts

I won’t let you burn

It’s not that kind of fire

Just give me the lighter

Jake had suspected Richy, a thought that had never even crossed MC’s mind before. Richy was supposably behind everything, behind Hannah’s disappearance and Amy’s death? No, impossible.

Even at your worst

You’re the hill that I’ll die on

So just leave a light on

For me

“MC, I know this is a hard topic for you to wrap your mind around, and you might not even be willing to do so. Listen to me. I first suspected the mechanic when Hannah’s call log led to Roger’s Garage. At the moment I believed either Jessica or Richy were involved, until we discovered that Jessica was off the day the call had occurred. Of course there was no evidence to prove that Richy was lying, so my suspicions remained minimal. Until his shop was vandalized with the mark of the raven……..which happened during the time he was in the forest at the dare house. And how do we know he was at the dare house? Because he took the time to video call you, to show you his surroundings, he used you as an alibi.”

Honey please believe me

I’ve danced with this feeling

“You’re crazy, Jake. How could you say something like this?! He was literally attacked before my eyes, the same as Jessy! You saw him in the live stream that Michael sent me, both him and your sister tied up and unconscious! Why would you say something like this?!”

I know what the best parts of the world look like

Through blurry eyes, you’re colorblind

“Who knew about Jessica’s whereabouts the night she was attacked? There were two people she mentioned who had known her plans, her route. Richy and Phil, right? But it can’t have been Phil, because he was arrested before Richy’s disappearance, correct?”

“Yes, but-”

“You saw the MWAF when he attacked Jessica. Did you see him when he attacked Richy? Why wouldn’t he show himself to you once more when he attacked the blonde?”

It’s messy, it leads to second-guessing

And when you feel you’re finally giving up

The last thing you should doubt is us

“Jake, you frickin saw the Hanson place! You saw all the evidence there, all the workings of a mad man! You saw his room littered with files on all of them; files of Lilly, Cleo, Dan, Thomas, Jessy, Richy. You saw his note saying ‘Hannah Donfort, Amy Bell Lewis, Guilty, Guilty, Guilty.’ It’s Michael, Jake, there is no other explanation!”

‘Cause darling when it hurts

I won’t let you burn

“You saw him when he entered the cabin, MC. Did he look like some elderly person with aching bones? Did he move at least with some sort of hint referencing his age? No, he looked very fit and able, he stood up tall, no visibly bent back. You’ve seen pictures of Richy, his figure and form, don’t you think both men’s physiques seemed suspiciously similar?”

It’s not that kind of fire

Just give me the lighter

MC’s thoughts came to a stand still as her phone started to explode with notifications. With shaky hands she unlocked her phone and quickly clicked on the group chat.

Thomas: MC. Alan saved Hannah.

MC: What?

Thomas: Yes, he sent me a video call of him escorting Hannah out of the mines. She is safe! I am so happy, I can barely believe it myself even though I saw it with my own eyes.

MC: And Richy?

Thomas: He was not with her.

Richy was still in the mine……she needed to find him, before it was too late….before Michael took his anger out on the young mechanic…..

As MC tried to reply, the connection suddenly died, causing her to almost curse. Pocketing her phone, she picked up her pace through the tunnel. The faint sound of footsteps ahead caught her attention, heart racing as her flashlight unexpectedly died.

So just leave a light on

For me

Using the wall as a guide, she carefully followed the faint scuffling of feet and as the sounds grew louder, she could make out the faint glow of a lantern. Someone was here…..Michael?

I have been replaying Duskwood and have fallen in love all over again with everything!

I already saw a video of what happens if you send Thomas into the forest after Richy’s attack, but I was wondering if you have ever chosen that option and what happens to the group? Are they mad at you and do you lose relationships with them if you don’t wait for the police?

Well, yes, in fact, I choose this option every time. It's much more exciting. So, no, you absolutely do not lose the relationship with others, no one is angry or similar. Lilly asks you to not let it happen that one of them goes into the wood. But even she understands why we said yes to Thomas. Of course, nobody thinks it's a good idea, especially Dan, as always, is against it, but nobody gets mad.

I sadly don't have the whole conversation recorded at the moment but this two screenshots.

Of course, Thomas and the police do not meet. Anyway, after a short time of waiting we get a call from Thomas.

And that’s actually it, more does not happen. Fortunately, I would add. But yeah the call is of course very exciting and a very cool detail they added. I can only recommend you to take this option if you're going to replay. ;)

I love how Jake is the reason so many of us are all connected! I feel like this Duskwood community is so positive and happy, I'm so glad I found you all! I am so excited for Jake to come back!

You probably feel it that way because it is absolutely as you say. This community is the best in the world. I have been in many fandoms but I have never seen a fandom that is so much and so deeply connected. I’ve never seen a fandom so incredibly nice and happy, we’ve never really had a fight or anything. Everyone is kind and supportive, everyone accepts and helps the other. I think it’s not just because of Jake but because of Duskwood in general. I think even without Jake I would have ended up here simply because I love the concept of Duskwood and the whole story. But Jake is definitely a reason so many of us are here. I am also so happy to be here with all of you, to post and discuss theories, and especially to wait for the new game. And the community definitely makes waiting easier. I know that the next time will be incredible and I’m so looking forward to it! ❤️

Is it weird that now I'm obsessed with Jake and tell everyone my imaginary bf is called Jake? Is it also weird that I screenshot every single interaction with this hacker? And is it even further weird that I'd be happy to meet a real life Jake even if he is wanted by the government and that I'd run off with him?

Afterall, I did tell him "One day would be enough."

No, no and no. None of this is weird, don’t worry. I feel the same way, and so do many others here. And I mean, I recorded the whole game so I can always look it up. That I like Jake, the people I deal with also know. Jake is a great man and I don’t see anything wrong with that. We don’t have to talk about the reasons why we feel this way, do we? As long as you still understand that it is unfortunately only fictitious, everything is absolutely okay. And yes, since I have some followers I have to say this sentence just to make it not too unreal. I don’t like hearing that either, but it’s still important, in my eyes. (Ugh, I feel like a mom xD) But no, it’s not weird, I feel the same way. Jake is just so good and interesting, I think our interest is absolutely normal, understandable and okay. 😌

Hey lovely! It's me again, you're own personal bother! So I've been reading alot of fabrication.....surprise. Anyway, I've realized alot of the stories that involve Nymos being Jake's brother, his name is Kaden. Why is that inspired? Is it inspired from you? (And if so, how did you come up with it?) Or was it from someone else? Whatever the answer is, I really love the idea of Jake having a younger brother named Kaden who goes like Nymos. 😅💙 Thank you for listening to me ramble, I'll shut up now. *going into hobbit hole and vanishing.

Ohh, Kaden, hehe. 🤭

Kaden was created by several people from the Tumblr community. Many Anons were there which is why I can not say exactly who belongs to it. I honestly don’t even know exactly how or who started it. I think I once said that I have the headcanon that Jake has a brother, and then one thing came to another. Kaden is, as you already know, Jake’s brother and the real Nymos. So Nymos is not a bot but a real human being, but because nobody should know that Jake still has a brother, he’s just Nymos. Most people think of them as twins. Me too, but they’re twins who don’t look alike.

Kaden is the opposite of Jake; they’re like day and night, Nymos is playful and hyperactive, rather extroverted. Well, and Jake is our serious and socially awkward and beloved hackerman as we know him.

And, of course, it’s Nymo’s personal mission in life to annoy Jake and get him with unfair means to be more open. Kaden is the unwanted wingman for Jake when it comes to MC.

Kaden is so to speak a Duskwood OC several people. In fact, many like Kaden, not everyone but that’s okay.

If you are looking for '#duskwood kaden' on Tumblr you will see almost all posts about him. So if you’re interested and you haven’t seen that much, ceck it out, I love it.

(And now: If we just ignore the fact that you don’t bother (seriously, you could never bother me) but if we ignore it then all I can tell you is that you’re the most beautiful personal bother I can imagine, hehe. :P <3 Thank you a lot for sending the ask. I am so happy about every ask I get. And really, I am so thankful that you are always so kind and loving, I really appreciate it. And I can only repeat myself again and again, you are a really wonderful person. I mean, you come here, take the time to write all this and make me too happy with your beautiful words, just like that, for no real reason. So I have this irrational fear that when the new game comes out my phone won't have enough storage for that AND Duskwood, what am I going to do???!! (Me deleting all my contacts and photos, I must sacrifice it all for Jake and Duskwood.) Lol.

Fortunately, I myself do not have this fear. I have 512GB of storage, and I did that on purpose because I was always afraid of that. xD

Still, I can totally understand your fear, that’s exactly how I would be. If I had contacts etc, then I wouldn’t care, I would delete everything that is possible, in a pinch all people would have to write me via email, that’s not my problem. But I wouldn’t have time to answer anyway, I’d be too busy with Duskwood and the sequel. :P

Photos would be harder for me, but contacts, away with it. Bye people I dont care about, hi Jake! 😌

But of course I hope that this doesn’t happen to you and you will have exactly enough storage for everything you need. Of course I wish that to everyone else. 💚

Am I cheating on my beloved hackerman if I tease all of the other guys in Duskwood? Like I'm sorry, Jake, but Phil was way too easy to flirt with. And Richy, he's a lady man with his manners, I'd snatch him up right away, if Jake wasn't available that is.

Nope. I wouldn’t say that, I would be the same if one of the others was really my type. I avoid flirting with others because of that and because of Jake but no, I don’t think that is cheating. And I mean, Richy in episode 10 was really incredibly good. Besides, I also think Phil looks good and Alan is also hot. And even Richys dad is hot, ok? And I love the personalities of everyone. I personally only love Jake but no, not cheating. I also check the others. 👀😂
