I granted a Sims request by fourleafcloverr22, which was recreating Steve Urkel, the Winslow family and Myra Monkhouse from the 90s sitcom Family Matters.

I used Maxis clothes and hairs on them, so you can dress them easily however you like in Bodyshop The only CC I used were makeup or facial hair on some of them. Please unzip them with Sims2pack Clean Installer to select which CCs you want to include.

Crazy girls need love too

While I like the idea of the nerd™ ultimately getting the girl without changing who he is, Steve was too good for Laura. She didn’t accept his true self until basically the last moments of the show, and probably wouldn’t have had they not been cancelled.

While I think she liked him a little more than she ever cared to admit throughout the years, she always made him change into Stefan before she gave him any sort of romantic attention. And what’s worse—he willingly changed himself for her.

Myra accepted and loved him for who he was right from the beginning and that’s who truly deserved his attention.

FAMILY MATTERS 8.11 ‣ “Chick-a-Boom”

If Myra Monkhouse from Family Matters would just acknowledge that her boyfriend isn’t that into her and move on then everyone’s lives would be so much easier.

Myra asked for all the heartache she received at the hands of Steve Urkel. Ted and Laura set Steve and Myra on a blind date much to Steve’s reluctance and Myra was immediately attracted to Steve. That’s all fine and good but then at the end of the date Steve tells Myra that he is in love with Laura and only wants to be with Laura.

Does Myra react like a normal person and decide to find someone else who will dedicate themselves to her? No, she resolves herself to change Steve’s mind and in essence take Steve from Laura. This is not a healthy way to start a relationship but then again nothing about Myra is ever healthy from the beginning. 

Steve then struggles to avoid Myra and Myra pursues him relentlessly.

She then starts a relationship with Steve and Steve is very open about how he’s still in love with Laura. In fact, the very first term of Steve and Myra’s relationship is that he will go steady with Myra but the second Laura shows an interest then he will leave Myra. Now any normal person who hears this would realize that Steve has one foot in and one foot out of that relationship, would get some self respect and leave Steve for someone who would be dedicated to your relationship. But again Myra is no normal person. She hears this and agrees to those terms. 

Despite the fact that Laura does not have feelings for Steve at that time and is in no way trying to connive Steve away from Myra... Myra still gets in cat fights with Laura. Calls her a slut out to steal her man. Despite the fact that Steve always defends Laura and takes responsibility. It is in no way Laura’s fault that Steve is not into Myra enough to be in a full relationship with her. It’s not even Steve’s fault because he was nothing but honest with Myra. It is Myra’s fault all the way! Because she knew what she was getting herself into, she pushed herself into that situation and then played the victim and attacked Laura for no reason.

People always try to compare Steve and Myra to each other but they are not the same. Yes, Steve pursues Laura relentlessly and Myra pursues Steve relentlessly but that's where the similarities end. The way in which they pursue is so different. Steve would never push Laura into having sex with him. Both Steve and Laura made separate decisions to not have sex until marriage. Steve respects Laura's decision. Myra chases Steve around and tries to push him into having sex with her. Steve would never even think of doing shit like that. Steve also never forced kisses on Laura. Whereas about 80% of Steve and Myra's kisses were Myra forcing a kiss on Steve. Steve respected Laura's physical boundaries and Myra did not do likewise with Steve. And that's just another example of Myra not taking the hint that Steve isn't that into her. If you need to force a man to kiss you then clearly he's not that into you. If a man has made the decision to wait until marriage to have sex and then drags his feet about marrying you then chances are he doesn't really wanna have sex with you. Myra could leave him at any time and yet she refuses to. Even after they ultimately broke up and he started dating Laura immediately afterwards. She connived to destroy Steve and Laura's relationship and tried to get him to cheat on Laura so that she could get him back.
