Lavender growing in the hill above my school. We are having an Aromatherapy course! Starts on October 10. See more at jointheflow.net The price is 350€. There are so many ways to use lavender: Use 1gr daily in calming brews and tinctures. Place it fresh, in sugar layers, and use that sugar in teas, sweets and cocktails. Place it in your closets to repel moths. It is a member of Lamiaceae family. From the Nook Notes Newsletter:
As we find ourselves nestled in the delicate balance between winter’s hushed whispers and the impending arrival of spring, I’m reminded of the quiet beauty found in the in-between—the gentle pause where the earth catches its breath before bursting forth with new life.
During this middle way between seasons, I often find myself lingering, not quite ready to emerge from my winter cocoon. There’s a certain comfort in the stillness, a familiarity in the chill of the air and melancholic gloom of the clouds. Yet, as the promise of spring beckons, I feel a stirring within—a subtle invitation to welcome the unfolding of new beginnings.
There is magic in embracing the flow, in listening to the whispers of nature and allowing ourselves to be guided by its gentle currents.
As we prepare to transition into the blossoming of spring, here are four herbs and plants to accompany us on this journey: Nettles, Cleavers, Dandelion, and Peppermint.
What herbs are you reaching for during this liminal phase?

Such an important article. I follow these protocols consistently and I’m so glad that written them out to share in such an effective format. Repost from @herbalacademy • Herbal Language Best Practices 👌 (to avoid potential legal issues!) Did you know that language on product labels has been used as *incriminating evidence* against herbalists under investigation for practicing medicine without a license? YIKES! The Herbalist Language is a *critical skill* you really can’t afford to mess up in business, so it’s a good thing we cover the important guidelines for maintaining a legal herbalism practice very well in our Business Herbal Course + Entrepreneur Herbalist Path! IN SUMMARY:  👍  When we share general information about a concern and discuss possible herbal approaches for that concern, this is is considered teaching. 👎 When we give this same information for a specific person, this can cross the line into practicing medicine. We have formulated an Avoid and Use List to help:  WORDS TO AVOID:  ❌ Prevent ❌ Cure ❌ Diagnose ❌ Heal ❌ Relieve ❌ Prescribe ❌ Treat ❌ Treatment ❌ Medicine ❌ Medicinal ❌ Patient Flip through the images for more info! Ultimately, the more one practices this approach, the easier it is to apply it when working in a professional setting! That’s why we spend a great amount of time coaching our Herbal Academy students in our student-only MyHerbalStudies Community on how to word (and re-word) conversations – all in effort to sharpen those language skills with the support of your experienced herbalist teachers! 🙌🌿 Our Mega Business-Themed Herbal Course Sale ends TONIGHT! 🙌🌿 Consider joining us if you, too, want to study herbs for entrepreneurship and put your education into practice with our thriving student community! https://www.instagram.com/p/CqCMZuXOvCm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Some very good information from herbal academy!! #Repost @herbalacademy ・・・ It's bug season! We put together this helpful chart with the many effective plant oils categorized by the particular bug they repel. This is not a complete list of ALL EO oils – feel free to weigh in with your fave EOs in the comments! A word of caution when using essential oils: they should always be used with a carrier product because of their volatility. Carrier products are other oils such as extra virgin olive oil, sunflower oil, apricot kernel oil, unscented lotions, etc. Some EOs should not be applied to children or to pregnant women so, as always, please do additional research. We also recommend seeking out brands who use sustainable harvesting practices. @MountainRoseHerbs has a good selection of essential oils, which we recommend! . . Here's a simple recipe from the blog for crafting a bug repellent: . . SIMPLE SPRITZER REPELLENT Directions: Combine the following in a 2-ounce bottle: 4 tablespoons of distilled water 2 teaspoons of vodka 5-6 drops of your favorite EO or combination or try the Thieves combination of sage, rosemary, thyme, lavender, and mint. Shake well before each use. Spritz this on your clothes and hair. Not for use on skin. . . . . . . #bugrepellent #naturalbugspray #thieves #sage #rosemary #thyme #lavender #mint #essentialoils #aromatherapy #eos #mountainroseherbs #myherbalstudies #herbalacademy #herbalist #herbalism #materiamedica #botanicals #plantmedicine #herblove #herbalmedicine #artofslowliving #motherearth #naturesmedicine #loveyourweeds #backtoourroots #herbalists #plantlove #herbarium https://www.instagram.com/p/B0WPKRYnBNy/?igshid=xwzkj0a9npw7

Repost @herbalacademy Student #regram by @rowanandsage: "Fire Cider 🔥 For colds, flus, fevers and winter wellness. Below you'll find a recipe for our base blend. We add a variety of other herbs specific to the immune and respiratory systems for our final product but the basics are the same! ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ingredients: ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Half Gallon sized glass jar with BPA-free plastic top (or wax paper square to go in between glass and metal lid) - 1 whole chopped onion - 1 head of chopped garlic - 1 cup fresh sliced horseradish root - 4-6 hot peppers (we used scotch bonnets, jalapenos, and cayenne) - 1/2 cup chopped ginger (we added the greens too because we had them so why not use them?!) - 1/2 cup of chopped turmeric - 1/2 cup of rosehips - 2 tsps black peppercorns - about a quart and a half of raw Apple Cider Vinegar ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Add all ingredients to your jar and shake it up real well. Open the jar and make sure all contents are submerged. Add ACV until everything is covered. Set in a cool, dark place for 4-6 weeks and shake daily. The contents will sink down within 2 weeks and you will be able to add more ACV as it goes; do so if you wish. This is the point where we typically add additional herbs like hyssop, mullein, rosemary, thyme, sage, or whatever other herbs are calling to us from the garden. After 4-6 weeks, strain and add equal amounts of honey. Take a few droppers or a shot daily to prevent winter illnesses. Fire Cider is a folk remedy that reminds us to use whatever is available and most potent in the season when we are making it. You can keep it real simple or add lots of things for specific ailments. Make it your own! #freefirecider" Have you made Fire Cider before? 💥 . . . . . #firecider #myherbalstudies #herbalremedies #herbalpreparations #studentshares #herbalacademy #applecidervinegar #fireciderforthepeople #firecidertonic #folkherbalism #folkremedies #folkherbalist #immunesystem #immunebooster #immunesupport #herbalist #herbalists #herbalistlife #herballifestyle #backtoourroots #herbalallies #DIYherbs #herblove #plantpeople #makeityourself https://www.instagram.com/p/B3t0Us2FhZ5/?igshid=1nshnhnqzucg6

A huge segment of the human population is affected by anxiety-related disorders. Though there are many prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs available, more and more people are turning to CBD for anxiety relief.  We started with organic remedies, then turned to science, but now we are slowly migrating back to mother nature, as many people are tired of synthetic medications and want a more natural, organic remedy. This switch back to a natural alternative has led straight to CBD oil.

Geranium molle, growing wild! Read more below about this fascinating herb. Learn more about our online courses on herbal medicine & aromatherapy in jointheflow.net Discover my books on bodywork and more: amzn.to/3xhaNey Its common name is Dovefoot Geranium, or Dove's-foot Crane's-bill. Nicholas Culpeper in his herbal of 1652 suggested a variety of uses for G. molle, including the treatment of internal and external injuries. A note was made that the bruised leaf healed external injuries faster. A decoction in wine was said to relieve gout and other joint pains. The plant is considered to be anodyne, astringent and vulnerary. In fact, you can use it as a tannin in herbal formulas, along with Quercus and Capsella.  The bees LOVE the plant. It actually produces a kind of dark pollen. Geranium molle is a small plant reaching on average 5–30 centimetres (2.0–11.8 in) in height. It is a very branched plant, quite hairy, with several ascending stems. The leaves are palmate, cut 5 to 9 times. The basal leaves are arranged in a rosette, the upper ones are sessile, rounded and hairy, with a long petiole of about 5–12 millimetres (0.20–0.47 in).  The flowers are pinkish-purple, 8–12 mm in diameter, with very jagged petals. It blooms from April to September. The flowers are hermaphrodite and mainly pollinated by Hymenoptera. Fruits are glabrous, usually with 6-9 transverse ridges. Such a beautiful recipe and sentiment....@herbalacademy ・・・ Signifying remembrance, rosemary brings a sense of continuity to a time of year when many folks are looking back on the past year and taking stock for the new one to follow. And if you love all things rosemary and butter then these melt in your mouth shortbread cookies are the perfect cookie for you! They are not your typical holiday cookie, offering rich buttery flavor complemented with bright herbaceousness. The rosemary really is almost reminiscent of pine making this a wonderful cookie to include on any cookie platter. To make these delicious cookies, follow these directions: 1️⃣ Preheat the oven to 325 degrees 2️⃣ Cream the butter until fluffy. 3️⃣ Add honey and beat to incorporate. 4️⃣ Then add the flour, rosemary, lavender, and lemon zest, continuing to beat until all the ingredients are very well blended together. For plain shortbread cookies: - Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes. - Roll the dough into 1” balls and place on a greased cookie sheet. - Press the dough down a bit with a cookie press, fork, or your fingers. The dough can be crimped along the edges if you wish with a folk. Poke a hole (or holes) all the way through the shortbread. For thumbprint cookies with goodies: - Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes. - Roll the dough into 1” balls and place on a greased cookie sheet. - Press a thumbprint into the center of each ball. Add a filling such as jam or chocolate chunks/chips. 5️⃣ Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the edges are slightly brown. The cookies may be very crumbly until they cool and harden. 6️⃣ Enjoy! . . . #myherbalstudies #herbalacademy #herbalist #herbalism #botanicals #plantmedicine #herblove #herbalmedicine #artofslowliving #motherearth #naturesmedicine #loveyourweeds #backtoourroots #herbalists #plantlove #herbarium #herbstolove #medicinal #hebier #botanicalartist #botanicalillustration #herbalart #herbalillustration #botanicals #instaart #myherbalstudies #herbalacademy #herbalcookies #holidaybaking #herbalholidays (at The Herban Inn) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5vVBZHp3_j/?igshid=61fu2uydb4m

Repost from @herbalacademy ❄️ "Let us love winter, for it is the spring of genius." - Pietro Aretino ❄️ Happy Winter Solstice to you! As tradition tells us, the Holly King (the king of darkness) has battled the Oak King (the king of lightness) and he has reigned supreme, granting the world a longer night. During Winter Solstice, we are reminded of how important darkness is in the natural world. The darkness of solstice reminds us of the self-seeding annuals, perennials, and nuts that take refuge beneath the darkness of the ground in the winter, only to burst forth again with life in the spring. The roots of plants, some of which are purposeful in their own right, also require darkness to thrive. We’ll leave you to make your own connections between your own personal experiences and nature’s need of darkness to thrive. But while you’re contemplating, we're answering some of our most frequently asked questions about solstice and its connection with the herbal world—don't miss them in our stories today! 🌑☀️ Our Winter Solstice gift to you today is a 25% off savings of our enlightening herbal courses! Now is the time to enroll in the courses that will become the pillars to your herbal education—act now so you can save big using the link in our bio!
