I'm really just Feeling Things tonight about the conversation with Gale after Elminster's visit and like. Gale is So Insistent that if Mystra says he needs to blow himself up, then it must be the best option. The only option. And of course he is! Because what's the alternative? If there's another way, any other way, that means either
1. Mystra doesn't care enough to consider whether there might be another option. Gale blowing himself up is the easiest solution, so that's what she goes with. Or, even worse,
2. She does know there's other options, but tells him to sacrifice himself anyways, because it gets rid of two of her problems at once.
Gale doesn't just assume she's right because she's a goddess. He goes along with it because of what it implies about him, and her, and how she sees him if there is another way. He has to believe that this is the only option. Because the alternative? That he's disposable at best and actively unwanted at worst? That's just too much to bear.

"I'm fascinated with people's comments about Helen, too. Everyone talks about, 'Oh, she's dramatic, she's a mess, she's this,' and I'm like, 'Naaah'. There's a little bit more going on, but it's the 80s, so no one's gonna talk about that either. No one's gonna help, no one's gonna protect, no one's gonna save." Anna Torv [x]

something about qbad mentioning how much horror he put red team thru every time purgatory gets brought up... something about how proud dapper was of him.
like this is just my late-night read but- it feels like guilt qbad is trying to twist into pride. he keeps needling away at it. “i killed them all, over and over and over again.” “they were hunted by a monster.”
it’s like- reassurance. like a nail he’s trying o beat into his head. he’s had SO much trouble with legitimately hurting his friends, despite making that vow all the way back when the eggs first went missing, despite all the tree talk and the promises to save the kids no matter what. He never faltered with elq, and that protected them. He keeps faltering now. Sometimes he doesnt remember the code, or cucurucho, or skeppy. But that doesnt matter, right? Because he’ll protect the eggs. He’ll be the monster. he is the monster. he can and he will protect them even as his seams start ripping and he keeps breaking further and further apart. even at his worst, he’ll do whatever he needs to protect the eggs.
he’ll be the monster. wont he?

“your king demands an answer”
yeah well your kid demands proper healthcare and rehabilitation and parenting and your wife needs therapy, but i guess we can just ignore that too along with the fucking eyeball rolling around in a tray

one thing that is always just, so peculiar to me, is the difference between how the media handled patrick's weight loss
i wasn't online back in 2011 so i don't really know how fans collectively responded, but it seems like the majority of fans have since looked at losing that much weight so fast and, to put it lightly, "implied/referenced eating disorder" feels like it's entered unofficial fall out boy lore
but the media. the media praised him, asked questions about how. the media wanted to talk about the weight loss more than the music.

Finally did this thing too.
When I started the comic I actually went to a lot of effort to keep Shane as on model/game accurate as possible. But clearly there has been some drift, and I'm actually ok with that, since it shows I'm getting more confident in my own art skills and style.
