I think my favorite aspect of the Hades II announcement is the idea that, somewhere in the underworld, a very thunderstruck Zagreus is demanding, "What do you MEAN, I have a sister?!"

The year is 2034. Disney announces the production of the show "Resistance: Dooku of Serenno", set during the early days of the Empire, starring CG Christopher Lee.
We begin with a flashback to Revenge of the Sith. After Dooku is beheaded, we learn that he used the Force to supply his brain with blood and oxygen. The movie is visibly retconned - as Obi-Wan, Anakin and Palpatine flee the Invisible Hand, four human parts can be spotted stealthily floating after them.
Dooku, being Dooku, survives the crash and manages to steal away. His head is surgically reattached. Don't ask why nobody else ever stitched their lightsaber-chopped limbs back on. He ends up getting prosthetic hands, anyway. David Filoni said in a behind-the-scenes interview that he thought they were cool.
Previously established canon prevents Dooku from doing anything in-character until Order 66. He lets loose in Coruscant's undercity and becomes the local kooky old man who couldn't possibly be public enemy number one until Mace Windu, freshly fried and unhanded, crashes down in front of him. What a coincidence.
Mace is still played by Sam L. Jackson. He is So Old. He is only there for the paycheck. Disney didn't know how to recast him. He is acting alongside the shell of a man who has been dead for two decades.
After a joke about missing hands that is very funny, the two get along swimmingly. They don't really talk about Dooku's various war crimes. "My droid army would never traumatize a young child," Dooku says with a wink into the camera. Remember to buy your Mandalorian merch.
Mace and Dooku organize an underground resistance on Coruscant in the spirit of the Confederacy. Mace is okay with this. Choice aspects of this arc are compelling, like the fight against fascism under the yoke of cruel state suppression, but tone-deaf allusions to the work of Sophie Scholl cause controversy abroad. Andor did it better. Critics on YouTube who thus far lauded the return of fan favorites and 'faithful casting' tear into the show for pushing the woke agenda.
Nothing Mace and Dooku accomplish has any impact on the Original Trilogy. What were you expecting? The end of the show teases a second season with the arrival of a mysterious woman. Dooku's secret wife. You never knew of her because she was never relevant before. As the final credit music slowly creeps in, she says: "Don't you want to see your son?"
The music swells and we cut to Serenno. The planet has never been mentioned throughout all 15 episodes of the show. Standing in the ruins of Dooku's castle is Dooku's son: back turned to the viewer, gazing into the sunset. Dooku II of Serenno, proud heir, turns his head. He is played by Harry Styles.

the pasta sauce simmered on the stovetop and you were hurriedly trying to grab the garlic bread out of the oven without burning your fingers on the aluminum pan.
“ow, ow, ouch!” you yelp as you let go at the last second, listening to the pan crash against the stove. sucking in a quick breath, you wipe your hands on the floral-printed dish towel and rubbed your face.
today was friday. every friday, you and your boyfriend steve had date night. most nights, it consisted of you two going out to the movies and grabbing a bite to eat at one of the diners, maybe even sharing a milkshake which steve practically begged for the cherries from.
those were always fun because they normally ended with you two curled up in your bed together, gazing at one another like two hopeless teenagers in love who were against the world in every aspect.
and maybe that was true. maybe that’s how it was. whichever fairytale you made yourself believe, it didn’t take away from the fact that date nights with your steve were your favorite.
but tonight you insisted on something different, something more intimate. you wanted to cook your boyfriend a meal and spend the night in together. essentially, you wanted to skip the movie and diner, and combine it with dinner at home. you had plenty of vhs tapes to go through of movies you two had seen numerous times before with risky business being the top choice. steve loved to make you laugh when he stripped to his underwear and button down, put his sunglasses on, and danced to old time rock n roll as he slid over your floors, nearly crashing into something nearby.
“honey! i’m homeeeee!” steve’s sweet voice calls out. your front door swings open and your heart races in your chest.
you quickly grabbed the wooden spoon and stirred your red sauce as the pasta began to boil on the back burner.
“in the kitchen, stevie!” you call out.
moments later, you’re met with his familiar face. dark brown hair that was always flowing and pushed back framed his face, and black sunglasses hung on the inside of his white tee. pretty brown eyes danced through yours and across the stove to where the food was, his eyes illuminating when he saw bread.
“all this for me, baby?” steve laughs as he walks over and picks up a very hot piece of garlic bread. “ow! shit!” he hisses, shaking his fingers and bringing them to his lips where he sucked before replacing his reddening digit with the garlic bread. “oh, that’s the good stuff.”
swatting his shoulder, you roll your eyes. “that’s supposed to be for dinner.” you scold him.
“but i haven’t eaten anything. i was waiting all day for this.” he playfully argues, a hand wrapping around your waist. he kisses your neck after swallowing and takes another bite out of the bread. “bread tastes awesome,”
rolling your eyes again, you look over your shoulder at him. “well, since you’re munching early on the bread, do you mind tasting this?” you point your head down at the sauce.
“what kind of man would i be if i said no?” he chuckles, resting his hand on the edge of the counter and leaning back.
a soft smile finds your face as you dip the spoon into the pan and bring it to his lips. steve’s eyes sparkle in yours and he opens his mouth, keeping his gaze firmly held on your face. accepting the sauce into his mouth, you waited patiently for any sort of sign that it tasted good.
the way his eyes rolled into the back of his head confirmed your thoughts. a sigh of relief escapes you as steve wags his finger, asking for more.
“please?” he ensures to add. nodding your head, you spoon-feed him another bite and this time he moans. “damn,” he groans.
“that good?” you laugh.
“i’m putting a ring on it tomorrow,” he announces, throwing his hands in the air as he finishes off the garlic bread. “it’s so good.”
you laugh and feel him wrap his arms around you from behind, nuzzling his nose into the back of your neck. you can’t help but feel right at home when he holds your waist and lays gentle kisses over your soft skin. “if the date continues to go this well, i may have to try my hand next week with dinner at my place.”
you gasp, staring at him as you turn the stove off and prepare to drain your pasta.
“steve harrington cooks for me? am i dreaming?”
steve watches you break away from his hold and carry the piping hot of boiling water to the stove where you pour the pasta into the metal colander.
“think i can’t?” he tempts you as he sways back and forth to the ABBA song playing on your stereo. jonathan had very so kindly made a mixtape with just their music since he knew they were your favorite group. waterloo fills the kitchen and steve dances awkwardly in time, but enough to have you laughing.
“i never said that, sweetheart.” you shoot him a wink. “now move that tight little ass, i don’t want to burn you.” you shoo him away from the pot.
steve’s eyes widen. “so you do think my ass is tight?” he checks behind himself.
scoffing, you pour the angel hair pasta into the pot and begin to stir. “hand me the cheese from over there, babe?” you point to the bowl filled with parmesan. steve hands it to you kindly and steals another kiss from the corner of your mouth.
“my ass?” steve chuckles, attempting to steal another piece of bread, but this time you swat his hand.
“hands to yourself, harrington!” you wag your finger in his face. “fill up on bread and you won’t have room for dessert. and yes, your ass is tight. i mean you can’t help but stare when you wear those.” you point to the blue jeans clinging to his lower half.
steve trails his eyes below and stifles a laugh. but then he remembered. dessert.
“what’s on the dessert menu?” he asks, dropping his voice an octave. his flirtatious nature kicks itself into its highest gear as he leans seductively against the countertop.
“ice cream,” you don’t tear your eyes from him. “brownies are in the oven too.”
“oh.” steve exhales.
you couldn’t help but smile, biting your lip. “annnnnnnd me… only if you’re good.”
steve sinks his teeth into his bottom lip. “good? do you remember who you’re talking to, baby?” he slips his hands around your hips and pulls you forward, tearing you away from the almost finished dish.
gasping, a laugh cuts through the air as you focus on his lips. “i do,” you nod your head.
steve smirks and leans down, tucking his fingertips underneath your chin and tilting your head back so he can observe you. “you’re so pretty.” he says through a breathy sigh.
wrapping your arms securely around his waist, you lean up and kiss him tenderly. steve melts against your mouth the moment your lips touch, and your mind suddenly forgoes the thought of food. the only source of nutrition you needed was standing right here in front of you wearing those tight little skinnies with his perfect brown hair and his warm touch that would have you mesmerized for days.
“stevie,” you whine his nickname. you did want to finish this date. “d-dinner,” you gasp as his mouth falls to your neck. he quickly kisses over the sweet spot on your throat, his tongue darting out to wet the muscle of your neck as his teeth gently bite into the flesh, not too hard, but enough to feel you jump against him.
“but dessert sounded so good,” he whispers, however, he knows you spent a lot of time preparing this. so he willingly pulls back but not without pressing his tongue to yours for one more deep kiss that has your head spinning. “i’ll be good.” he promises, throwing his hands up as a means of waving his white flag of surrender.
smiling harder, you turn your eyes back to the pasta that was currently soaking up the sauce.
“grab us a drink from the fridge while i plate everything up?” you ask sweetly.
“of course, baby.” steve grins, shooting you a wink and walks to the fridge.
friday nights spent inside the house would soon become your favorite date nights with steve harrington.

Despite being know as the accidental spoiler king for letting little things slip, Joon was super careful when it came to your relationship.
He was very hesitant about going public. Like, that shit kept him up at night, thinkingabout all the things that could go wrong.
He's very protective (admittedly, sometimes a little too much so) and really values your privacy together, so the idea of popping that bubble was kinda terrifying.
But even more frightening was the thought of someone else popping it for you, which had almost happened several times when y'all were spotted together on dates and at events.
You ran in the same friend circles though, so it was easy to deflect rumors, but after so many close calls, you both decided it would be best(or at least better)to be open and honest about it.
Luckily, your fans were mainly happy for the two of you.
You were that insta-goals artsy couple, most of your photos together consisting of aesthetic museum and cafe dates.
Juxtaposed by random, goofy ass clips, like him drunkenly laughing on your couch at like 3am about some dumb joke you'd told him.
One of your favorite 'dates' though were the nights y'all would spend in studio working on music together. It was natural progression that you decided to do collab together.
You had been credited as co-writers on several songs(that was actually how you met fyi), but you'd never actually sang or performed on the same track before.
The song you chose was about missed opportunities and the importance and going after what you really want, rather than hoping for any second chances.
After the collab was announced, there were a few people who accused you of using his popularity for your benefit, but most of that was drowned out by an overwhelming wave of excitement and support from the fans.
The video shoot was a strange mix of fun and awkward. The creative team had decided to film it in a nostalgic, home movie style, with glimpses of the two of you, intercut with different shots from around the city. So it was kinda like going a date, but with a script and a film crew in tow.
It was definitely worth it tho, it was really sweet, both you and the fans loved it.

That post about Higuchi Kouhei and his cat got me thinking about some other tokusatsu-to-BL pipeline actors that are on current or recent BLs, so I thought I'd do a screenshot post about Kamen Rider Revice, a recent toku series that features two lead actors who star in current BLs, plus an actor in a smaller role who was part of a side couple in a BL series that recently completed a second season.
The main character of Revice is Igarashi Ikki, played by Maeda Kentaro, currently playing Ohara Yamato in I Can't Reach You. His siblings are very central to the story as well--by the end of the series, the story is centered around his whole family. Ikki's younger brother Daiji is played by Hyuga Wataru, currently playing Yamasuge Ryuiji in If It's With You.
Here they are having a bath in the opening credits for the show (the Igarashi family runs a public bath house).
I should say at the outset that I can't entirely recommend Revice, especially to folks who don't already have some tokusatsu-watching under their belts. It's a hot mess in a lot of ways. But it does have some really outstanding highlights. The best aspects of the series, in my book, were:
Kagerou (Daiji's demonic alter ego),
George Karizaki (my beloved),
Igarashi Sakura/Kamen Rider Jeanne (the most formidable female Rider I've seen in any series in the franchise), and
the relationship between Sakura and Natsuki Hana (a rare example of a convincing Sapphic ship in a franchise well known for "heated drama between men").
I'm not going to get into 2 and 3 here, as tempting as that would be, but I'll include as much of 4 as time/space permits.
It might seem weird that I'm not recommending a series with some of my favorite characters in the entire Kamen Rider franchise AND a relationship between girls that is a hair's breadth from being canonically queer. It's just too much of a trainwreck to endorse as a whole. But as I said, the highlights are really something.
One of the biggest issues I had with Revice was that Ikki, the protagonist, just isn't a very compelling character. As a result I don't think Maeda Kentaro really got to show the range of his acting abilities in this series. (This just makes me more curious to see him in ICRY. From the excerpts I've seen so far, it seems like he shows a really different side of himself.)
Maeda appreciators might still enjoy the many determined faces and creepy smiles he gets to dish out in this series. Here's a sampling.
It's possible they'll want to look away when he starts doing things like this, though.
Fans of both Maeda and Hyuga might enjoy some of their scenes fighting side by side, including doing their various henshin poses (the moves they do before they transform into their masked Rider forms).
Or when they do things like this bonkers flying kick.
Thankfully, Daiji is a more interesting character than Ikki, so Revice gave Hyuga some more challenging things to do. I thought Hyuga also just really made the most of every opportunity the show presented to him. He was seriously impressive. This is the reason I was sold on IIWY the moment I saw the announcement about it based solely on Hyuga's involvement.
Here's a sampling of Hyuga as Daiji.
In addition to playing Daiji, Hyuga also played Kagerou, Daiji's aforementioned demonic alter ego. Kagerou was formed from thoughts and emotions that Daiji repressed. The biggest of these was his resentment toward Ikki. But apparently Daiji had also been repressing a desire to be a somewhat gender non-conforming goth, because that's Kagerou's other raison d'etre.
In some ways, it's hard to imagine a character more different from Ryuji. If they have anything in common, it's the fact that they both place a high value on honesty.
One other thing that's worth noting about Hyuga's work on Revice is that he was only 17 when the show premiered. He showed major dramatic range in this part, not only playing two very different characters but doing everything from low-key nuanced scenes to bombastic high drama. Not to mention the stunts! Doing all of this at 17 is seriously remarkable.
Now for our bonus dude! There's a secret evil-fighting organization called Weekend that secretly keeps tabs on the Igarashi family for years before coming out of hiding to join the big central battle of the series. One of the Weekend operatives is Ushijima Hikaru.
Look familiar? Maybe not, he didn't make faces like this on his BL series.
How about now? Yep, it's Oku Tomoya, who plays Hanabusa Asuka on both seasons of Minato Shouji Coin Laundry.
Oku has some big scenes and interesting moments in Revice. He does some romantic pining, goes through big-time loss, does quite a bit of martial-arts sparring, gets seriously injured, and more. He even gets to henshin a few times. Here he is getting ready to do just that with Sakura and Hana. Those Weekend uniforms are pretty hardcore in a 70s flight attendant sort of way, but I feel like Oku really sells it here.
While we're on the subject of Sakura and Hana, I feel like I can't mention their relationship without including some moments where their story came particularly close to tipping into full-on yuri.
If you're going to do an enemies-to-lovers story, why not make them full-on superhero nemeses?
The word "date" might not technically get used by the characters, but there's no mistaking that the amusement park hangout Sakura invites Hana on--while she is still a fully-functioning bad guy, I might add--is definitely a date.
Most of the time when a Rider beats their nemesis for the final time they don't hold each other tenderly in the sunset.
By the end of the series, they're in a big tub together at the Igarashi's bath house.
There are tons more examples but you get the idea. If this isn't borderline-yuri I don't know what is.

Girl Dad! Eris headcannons
So I was scrolling through the tags some of yall put on the reblogs for Girl Dad! Cassian and I saw one for Girl Dad! Eris, and I couldn’t help myself. Now this is not an exhaustive list but there are some aspects that I want to explore for down the road in my The Fox and The Hounds series so Imma keep those to myself
Now Before I go into my thoughts and feels on the subject; 10/10 you all should go check out @redbleedingrose they have a phenomenal Girl Dad! Eris series going on, and are over all just an excellent writer in general. but alas I am terrible at making new friends so I have not reached out to message them about how much I love their works
Oh Yeah Eris is the girl dad to end all girl dads. Like all said and done he and his mate have around 9 girls.
I don’t think Eris ever wanted a son just given his upbringing with his brothers. I feel like with every girl his mate Eris always breaths a small sigh of relief when the healers announce that it is a girl.
These girls are also beloved by the people of the Autumn Court. Where Eris and his brothers had a reputation for cruelty under Beron’s rule, these girls have been raised to be kind and polite. With the older ones the Fae of the court were a little wary but by the time the last few came around they are seen as precious gems of the court.
This is not to say that they are weak. They are kind but they also have the fire of the Autumn court running through their veins and are fiercely protective of their family. They have been trained both by Eris and his surviving younger brothers.
Now Eris and his mate don’t have any children until after the events under the mountain. If Eris had it his way they wouldn’t have had any children until his father had been dealt with. But life finds a way and The mated pair welcomes their first babe within a year after they return to the Autumn court.
The second babe is a catalyst for kickstarting Beron’s demise. One his mate told him she was expecting the second babe Eris starts with his plans and before their second baby girl makes her grand entrance to the world Eris is the new high lord.
I think that once Beron is gone that the remaining Vanserra brothers stop trying to actively kill one another now that the main antagonizer isn’t pitting them against one another. There is a lot of healing to be done between the remaining 5 Vanserra boys, but their nieces bring them all together. The girls try to not have favorites but the youngest has openly declared that Lucien is her favorite.
The smoke hounds are very protective of the babes it is not unusual to see two or three of them watching the babes at any given time. Anyone that is not familiar to them or the nanny is not allowed near their Masters. Typically new staff members are warned about this but every now and then some young stupid sentry gets what the hounds deem to be too close to the babes and they end up on the business end of hounds that have been used to hunt people in the past.
There is an incident shortly after the birth of their first daughter. Someone thought it would be a smart idea to kidnap the newborn of the Heir of Autumn. (I plan on going into this further in my Fox and the Hounds series so I’m not going to go too much farther into this) It did not end well for the kidnapper, Eris has a reputation of being sadistic like Beron and not all of it is rumor.
Eris is not the disciplinarian in the household, and it's not that he is a pushover that lets his children walk all over him. No, he has a fear that he is going to turn into Beron who was very abusive to Eris and his brothers growing up.
Eris does have anxiety over this to the point that he doesn’t trust himself to discipline any children that he and his mate have. As parents they are strict but not suffocatingly so, they have reasonable standards set for their girls who are generally known as the most well behaved bunch of the second generation.
It is not uncommon to see Eris cradling one of his babes during a meeting once he becomes Highlord. He has also been known to completely stop meeting if one of his girls comes into the room. This male will stop whatever he is doing when one of his little ladies wants his attention. He wants them to know that they are more important to him than work so that they don’t grow up thinking that their father doesn't care about them.
Now the girls do grow up rather tomboyish, yes they like the silk and jewels of court like most girls do but they also enjoy running through the woods, joining Eris on hunts with the hounds. Playing knights in the forest, building fortresses and houses out of branches and leaves, these girls live for the outdoors. Sometimes it seems like the girls spend more time running around in the woods rather than in the forest house. Eris enjoys showing them the things he would have loved to do with his brothers when they were young but was unable to thanks Beron’s a+ parenting methods.
The family does have a cabin tucked away deep in the forest of the Autumn court. While it is a little tight with the amount of people and dogs when everyone is there, it is where some of Eris' fondest memories have been made. It is the families private getaway from the court and they spend as much time as possible there.
On the topic of hounds all of the girls love their parents many hounds; each bonding to one or two hounds as they grow. Eris does give his babes a puppy once they reach an age where they can be responsible to take care of it. All said and done the Vanserra household has just shy of 30 dogs.
All in all Eris is such a good dad to all his children and along this journey of parenting there is a lot of healing within both the Autumn court and the Vanserra family

Future Diary "The Live World"
Did you know that back on July 29th, 2012, there was a live concert for almost all Future Diary songs? Well, this little gem in Future Diary history is known as The Live World, a concert held at Shibuya AX to promote the Future Diary anime. It featured not just Yousei Teikoku and Faylan (the artists who made the OPs and EDs for the show), but also the voice actors and singers of the character theme songs.
For those unaware, each Future Diary character has at least one theme song to their name. These songs come from the “Future Diary Inspired Album,” which had two volumes. Yuno and Minene were the only characters to receive two songs each, as well as an extra song with their love interest. You can find the first and second volumes of this album on Youtube thanks to SingerOfW.
All of the character themes were performed at the live event along with the OPs and EDs, except for the 4th’s and 5th’s themes. “The Creator,” a song attached to the pilot of the show, was also not performed at the event. The reason why these three songs were discarded from the concert are unknown; however, I assume it had something to do with time constraints and lower popularity than the rest of the songs.
The event was recorded and sold as a Blu-Ray with almost three hours of content. The Blu-Ray disks of the performance began sales on November 29th, 2013, along with the sale of the Future Diary Blu-Ray Box. The recording was divided into two disks. It also included two bonus gifts: an eight-page booklet and an additional 9-minute recording of the making of the event. This 9-minute recording has yet to surface online.
There was also a raffle for a free ticket to the event. To enter the raffle you had to get the three volumes of the limited edition Blu-Ray CDs. Volumes 1 and 2 came with application tickets, while volume 3 came with the postcard you were supposed to mail the tickets in.
One of the more important aspects of this concert is that Madness Rain and HAPPY END, the OP and ED for Redial, were first unveiled at the event. Future Diary’s “Next Project” (which we now know as Redial) had recently been announced by that time, and the release of these two songs made anticipation for this project grow bigger. This is evidenced by a blog post I found from a girl who attended the concert, who shared her own thoughts of what she speculated this “next project” to be:
It seems like the ‘next project’ isn’t a ‘Paradox’ story, but an original story; however, since I saw Akise-kun on the visuals of the OP, it can’t be about the first world, so I think it might be related to the third world… (Source.)
Speaking of blog posts, Esuno also made an entry on his blog talking about his time at the event! The entry reads:
Today I went to ‘Future Diary’ The Live World at Shibuya AX. We were not allowed to take pictures inside so I only have a picture of the entrance (insert photo that wasn’t archived by the Wayback Machine T-T). It was a passionate and fun concert. I enjoyed the performances from a seat on the second floor. Both Kawahara-san (12th’s VA) and Shiraishi-san (Kousaka’s VA) made great MCs, the music and the visuals from the anime were wonderful; a very fulfilling three hours. Thank you to all of the performers, and especially the audience who came all the way in this heat! (Source. Side note: Esuno’s blog doesn’t exist anymore, so that’s why the link is on the Wayback Machine).

Before I end this post, I have to talk about the 12th’s theme, performed by his voice actor: Kawahara Yoshihisa. When I tell you my jaw dropped to the floor… this man showed up on the stage, fully decked out in 12th’s costume. Mask, belt, tights, everything. Kousaka’s VA, Shiraishi Minoru, also showed up dressed like a middle schooler. Let me tell you, Esuno wasn’t lying when he called them great MCs, they absolutely stole the show. The backstory of why they agreed to dress up for the concert is in the second track of the Radio CDs, which I talked about on my last post, for anyone interested.

it was never meant to be. you both knew it wasn’t. from the moment he was brought into the world and raised as the crown prince of the empire, he was already someone of great importance. as a child, his parents persuaded ayato to make a friend because he always seemed to be alone and lonely. therefore when a young maid was newly recruited to the palace, ayato felt his whole world light up.
you were beautiful, much more than the girls that the other noble families have introduced. and to top that, your wonderful smile which always seemed to have an effect on him. he openly declares you as his friend and everyone around him, including you, was shocked. despite the nobles’ protests that having a servant friend is against the pride of the imperial family, ayato insisted that he wanted to have you as his friend and his parents were more than delighted to approve.

growing up, you and ayato are practically two peas in a pod. and surely the both of you would be lying if you said you weren’t attracted to each other, but of course everything had to remain a secret. his proclamation of love, your first kiss, the memories you both shared — no one must know.

Favorite Games of 2023 Part 2: Super Mario Wonder
What a weird thing to say but this really is the best Super Mario has been as a 2D platforming game since the Super Nintendo! An overall creatively fresh look on that guy Mario and what he can do when he’s only got two directions to run around in. Just a true delight all the way through, I never had a bad time playing it. The new features like the badges and wonder seeds all gave the game a fun amount of variety and character to the game always keeping a sense of surprise in each area that at their very worst was easily ignored. Also a very lovely game visually that gave character to its characters and a fun new set of weird critters to appreciate.
A unique aspect for my playthrough of Mario Wonder was I insisted on playing through the whole game using my new snackbox leverless controller (arcade stick controller sans the stick). I’ve been wanting to try that controller with a side scrolling game because I kept hearing people play other side scrollers with it and it sounded like a fun perfect test case for that idea. I had a blast playing through the whole game with it. Using it’s button based directions felt entirely natural to play through the entire game with it and I’m absolutely going to be using it for any further similarly structured games in the future. The only time the unique button controls did not feel natural was when I was in situations involving four way direction like the water levels or those surprisingly frequent times where you turn into slime. That controller rules and I always feel bad I don’t like using it too much since I don’t always want to just get absolutely destroyed at fighting games all the time.
The thing though that I will always remember Mario Wonder is surprisingly enough it’s online feature. When this online aspect of the game was announced, a feature while you’ll see and be able to lightly interact with live ghosts of other players who are also playing the same level as you, I joked about Mario Wonder being the second ever strand game. Now having played the game 100%, I am absolutely standing by that statement. I’ve had numerous tiny but memorable experiences with other players with that feature either dancing around, spamming the simple emotes, or even helping each other out through tricky parts of the level. One experience of that in particular, the one this post’s drawing is referencing, happened during the final final challenge level where a Japanese Nabbit player and I were helping (them more to me than me to them) each other through a series of areas in that level. We would emote chirp at each other, cheering us on, and more importantly, wait at the room exits so when we left the room at the same time we’d maintain our online instance together. It happened for a whole checkpoint’s worth of that final level and it would’ve been longer if I didn’t screw up immediately with the infinite sprint badge room LIKE A FOOL. That player was a huge help to me with the few of the toughest rooms of that whole challenge and a very appreciated companion.
These little stories and memories I gathered from such a silly little feature gave me such a warm feeling toward everyone I was playing with in the game, we were all here to help push each other forward. A mechanic that gave people the encouragement to help each other out and feel good in the process of doing it, a fun look at what can be done with online semi anonmyous interaction. I’ll always appreciate that Nabbit player, I hope they’re having a happy new year.

(Sorry for the long text post, but if you want to read, this is a 2k word essay about Sasha’s backstory.)
I know that Sasha running away from home after discovering as a child that his parents had sex is a well known, and often joked about, aspect of his character. However, to me, I don’t think that is the reason he ran away from home. That earth shattering discovery might have been the catalyst, but not the reason.
Trigger Warning for Emotional Neglect.
There’s a lot to say about Sasha and his level/mindscape, which is great. But something that has always fascinated and impressed me was the memory vaults specifically. Sasha’s two memory vaults not only helps flesh out his character, makes him relatable to the player, and thoroughly explains his relationship dynamic with Razputin. And all of this is done without words.
The first big thing to say about Sasha’s First Loss is that it’s the only memory vault to be displayed in first person(in the typical style. Loboto’s is in 3D so it’s different), aka through Sasha’s eyes. The artistic reason why it’s in first person is because since Sasha is a baby at this point in his life, the artist can use baby furniture and his size to set up framing and composition to tell the story. The story reason for why it’s in first person is because more emotional emphasis can be placed more on his father. Whenever we see tragic stuff in memory vaults we get to see the character who experienced the memory so we can see their anger/sadness/joy/etc. But there’s already emotional baggage next to the vault and it’s titled “Sasha’s First Loss” so we already know what emotion is attached going in. But seeing Sasha’s father’s reaction to his wife’s death is actually really important contextually looking at Sasha’s early life.
The thing is, his dad never really got over his mom’s death. And that ruined everything. It’s like if the start of your life to the end was a race you had to run, and then the announcer says “ready, get set, go” and fired the gun into the air to start the race, waited five seconds, and then shot Sasha in the ankle and expected him to keep going. Of course this leg of the race was going to end horribly.
After we see Sasha’s mother’s soul leave her body, the next slide is of Sasha watching through a window as his dad is grieving/burying his wife. His hand is on the window, as if to reach out to where his parents are, but the pane of glass physically blocks them from reaching each other. This is the first artistic representation of their father-son relationship after his mother’s death. Distance.
The slide after the burying scene is the last one of the memory vault, and it’s my favorite. It depicts Sasha looking at his dad through bars of a baby gate. On Sasha’s side, in the foreground, are blocks and baby toys on a soft blanket. On the other side of the gate, in the middle ground, is a framed photo of his mother sitting, perpetually smiling behind a pane of glass. And in the background of the image, his father is sitting as far as he can be from the foreground, looking out a window with his hands folded and an open book in his lap. I love how the bars of the babygate separate the layers of the image from his dad and the photo of his mom. Especially with the detail that the photo is physically closer to Sasha than his actual living father, yet is still barred from both of them. You can really see the emotional distance the tragedy has caused for the two of them.
This slide not only utilizes the distance from the previous slide, but also introduces a new concept, attention. Despite the fact that your wife just died and you have an infant/toddler to look after, Sasha’s father has instead elected to read a book and look out a window. He doesn’t look at his child, which is a detail that returns in the second vault.
In Sasha’s Second Sight the first slide contains a far older, but still really young, Sasha working in the cobbling store with his dad. This memory vault is in the traditional third person point of view so we can actually see Sasha’s face this time. Again, the distance between the two is obvious. Sasha is in the foreground on the right side, meanwhile his father is in the background but on the left. It’s immediately clear that they never really got closer all these years later. Another detail is that even though they’re both working, Sasha is still looking towards his dad, like in the previous vault, yet his dad’s attention still isn’t on him.
The second slide depicts them both at a work table, but his father is the only one working. Sasha is instead holding up a picture of his mom, the same one from the first vault, and asking about her, meanwhile his dad refuses to share anything. While they are physically closer in this slide, all that credit is removed by the fact that his father’s back is turned to Sasha. Creating yet another barrier between the two.
The third slide is Sasha attempting to look into his father’s thoughts because despite the fact his surname literally means “no” he does not want to take that as an answer. His father’s back is still turned to his son, but he’s grasping his face, clearly still grieving after all this time. We already know what happens on slides four through six, mind reading stuff. Instead I’m skipping to slide seven, where Sasha is now very mentally disturbed.
In his panic, he’s actually turned to face away from his father, but is still glancing towards his direction. And the final slide, slide eight, Sasha runs away from home. Again the distance is there, and stronger than ever. Sasha’s in the foreground, his dad is in the background, and Sasha’s already down the street with a bag over his shoulder. Interestingly enough, Sasha is still glancing back towards his dad, as he watches his son run away from home from the doorway of the store. His dad is just standing there, watching this happen. He’s not calling out for him, or asking if he’s going to be coming back, he just watches. And this is the second time in both memory vaults that his dad actually looks in Sasha’s general direction. I’m serious. The first time was before his wife died and he’s making eye contact with Sasha as his wife does that thing people like to do where they toss their baby into the air and catch them(Sasha’s First Loss, Slide Three). After that point, he never looks at his son until he’s actively running away from him.
Okay, so what’s the point of this? The two big things, distance and attention. Both memory vaults have shown both how far apart emotionally they are from each other, and how Sasha is always looking towards his dad but never getting his attention. And I understand why his dad is acting like this. Loss is complicated and if you get stuck with a child that actively reminds you of that person you lost and is asking about them, I understand why he’d avert his eyes. However, Sasha is a child, with only one living parent that will not look at him. I ask you this: what exactly is Sasha losing by running away from home from an emotional standpoint? Absolutely nothing. All he had of his mother was a framed photo, hidden behind glass, much like the image of his father grieving over a grave. That's all they are to each other, they knew this woman, but in two very clearly different ways. But now, Sasha’s perspective on his mother has changed due to mind reading. He wouldn’t be living with this man who knew his mother and be willing to endure a tense living situation for stories. Now the tension has evolved into discomfort as all this man’s stories will have that underlying image of what he saw, and he doesn’t even seem to like having Sasha around.
Another point towards my argument that it was the neglect that led to the decision is that we know from Razputin that running away is technically a decision that can be reversed. You could go back home, or a relative can go get you and bring you back. But in the last slide of Sasha running away, his father isn’t going to go chase after his kid like Augustus would do. Sasha’s father just kind of… accepts it? He doesn’t know that his kid read his mind, all he’s aware of is that after years of raising this child, he runs away from home and just lets it happen. And from Sasha’s perspective, while yes, his mind is probably torturing himself with new knowledge, he’s still looking back from where he came. But much like how his father’s back was turned to him, creating a barrier between them, his father is standing in front of the store’s door. And his father is built like a fridge, so there might as well be a blockade in front of the door. If your own dad won’t even look in your general direction why the hell would you want to go back to that with the added pressure of already having run away?
Okay, so remember Razputin? It’s fun seeing all the mentor/dad-figure Sasha and Raz content; and it’s very sweet. But it actually makes sense from a character perspective in the text. Sasha’s grown up now and becomes an international superstar secret agent, gets to be a camp counselor, and suddenly this child who’s extremely psychically gifted breaks into the camp. Turns out that this kid ran away from home…and doesn’t want his father to come pick him up due to some strange related angst. Huh. Compelling. Of course Sasha sees himself in this child he’s known for like two hours. It’s like looking into the past really, and Sasha is dying for the chance to take this kid aside for some tests, alone from everyone else. Sasha sees a lot of untapped potential in this kid, and doesn’t doubt the damage Razputin can do. And now he’s teaching this kid PSI-Blast and trying to impart life lessons like keeping control of the mind… He’s putting himself in danger through this shooting course, and ends up pushing Raz out of the way when things really start taking a turn for the worse and making himself take on any pain. He’s letting Raz make a few mistakes, but making sure he’s safe. Just like a parent would do… And oddly enough, throughout the Marksmanship lesson, he’s always keeping a watchful gaze over Razputin and standing close enough that he can feel his presence but not invade the kid’s personal space. It’s almost like he’s stepping into a father figure role for this runaway. Because that is exactly what Sasha’s doing, whether it’s intentional from him or not.
I like to think that Sasha being there as a support for Raz in a way that he wanted/needed as a child is actually a form of healing for him. It’s like that thing where new parents try to be a better version of their parents so they can prevent mistakes. I know Raz was unconscious while Augustus was walking around talking to all the adults so we never get to see him interact with Sasha. But I like to think that he’d be relieved that Razputin’s father immediately chased after his son. And especially relieved that Augustus acknowledges his past wrongdoing and is going to make more of an effort to be there in support of Razputin. It’s sweet to me that at the end of the first game Sasha specifically includes Raz for the Truman Kidnapping mission, stepping up to him, looking down at him and referring to Raz as their “anti-kidnapping specialist.”
Sasha’s backstory always seemed pretty emotionally complex to me, and naturally fit with his relationship with Raz. And like how Milla’s name is pronounced with the obvious “a boy I thought was cute said it wrong so I will say it wrong the rest of my life” explanation is just a surface level, but still valid interpretation, this is my interpretation of Sasha’s early life and the decision to run away.

so i think a lot of turtles are cackling because of the recent ugg coincidence that happened. and i agree, this one is really sus and something that deserves a spot in cpn history. but i’m more interested as to the why of it all. why is it there. my first guess is they forgot to blur it out and thought it’s no big deal. we could leave it at that, but it’s xz studio we’re talking about here — and considering the events leading up to it, i guess one can’t help but wonder if there is anything more to this….
XZ & XZ STUDIO are notorious for blurring things out. not just faces of people close by or the staff, but also things around them. You even have a photo of GG with the window of the car blurred out, so people don’t know where he is — or the things on his car seats also blurred. This is understandable, it’s for his privacy. There are also times where certain items are covered in videos & photos because of ( the most likely ) certain contractual obligations. Also fact that the most random things people see him use gets sold out can be a factor, he doesn’t want to unintentionally endorse something that’s really more of a personal favorite.
It’s him wanting to keep certain aspects of his life private and that’s perfectly fine. Even if sometimes the guessing of what he has blurred out in some cases have been a game that turtles love to play. 😂😂😂
Now let’s review the video in question and why the shoes being left in the open seemed out of the ordinary.
you see they did cover up ( blue smileys ) some things on there and at some point the ugg slippers were sort of obscured. until that one frame where you can see everything clearly.
At this point, it’s not the first time that we saw one person having the other’s endorsement before it was announced. and the culprit was mostly ZZ. him having WYB’s endorsed products before it gets announced. Also it’s not usually THEM that you see using it ( well except for bottled joy lol ) but the staff. It’s like they were given a sizeable amount of that product and was shared to the crew — which only happens to an endorser/sponsor. I think this is the first that we saw from their videos. other incidents we have are from second pass photos so it’s why i’m overthinking it all. why does it seem intentional.
considering days ago there was the whole maison kitsune same style hot search and the same phone case is still fresh in people’s mind… shouldn’t he be more “careful” with these? not just with public opinion ( who mostly don’t mind ) but also his fans who get worked up about it.
A key incident also was earlier the day, there was an HS about him and his WDB co-star. It was a video “leak” from when they were shooting the drama. It looked very sweet and cp material — but they were shooting. I personally don’t have any bad blood with LQ. I genuinely think that they are friends and he’s comfortable to joke with her like that.
It stayed up for some time on the HS, and it’s okay to have it up considering it’s promotion for the drama. It’s normal. You would expect stuff like this to pop up since they are the main pairing in the drama.
THEN LATER IN THE EVENING XZS DECIDES TO DROP THIS ON US. While I do think a very small amount of candies are intentional, this one seems to be ZZ hammering us. I still remember how he spoiled us when OOL was out so this is really nothing compared to that. He could have gone for something more in your face but what they did was actually perfect. Only those who pay special attention will notice what’s going on. The casual fan will be distracted by him doing push ups and leave it at that— but not us ( and well other wfs who seem to be better at noticing stuff than us lol ). It’s like him comforting us after that HS and all the cp stuff in his drama ( which i’m not mad about cause the love stories between him and the two girls is well written so far ; i wanna do a proper post about it in the future ).
So there you go. It’s not just because we saw Ugg shoes on his video clearly. It’s the endorsement incidents before, his acts of subtle comfort to cpfs, the events that lead up to the release of the video and ZZ’s penchant for giving candies you can’t wash. CPNs that become popular like this are usually not only because of what get at face value. You have to look at the bigger picture to make it sweeter. 💛

‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Crown Prince Dallas Liu Had Elliott Smith on his Zuko Playlist
With the Netflix show officially renewed for two more seasons, the actor talks to GQ about his personal style, his cult series PEN15, and bending lightning.
Before he found his calling, Avatar: The Last Airbender star Dallas Liu considered becoming a stuntman. But when Liu was only 12 years old, his soon-to-be manager discovered his competition videos on YouTube and asked him if he'd ever thought about acting. The answer was yes: “Martial arts had definitely inspired me to become an actor, because of the performance aspect of it,” Liu tells GQ from his home in California.
Now, at 22, Liu’s credits include a Gen-Z cult comedy (PEN15) and a high-profile Marvel film (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.) He’s been able to channel his eclectic background to play the complicated villain at the center of the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise, Fire Nation royal Prince Zuko.
A few weeks before Netflix announced that Avatar had been renewed for a second and third season, Liu talked to GQ about how playing Prince Zuko changed him, his love of A24 films, and the Pen15 renaissance.
Were there any Avatar scenes that you were really excited to film?
All of the flashbacks. All of episode six was super fun, but specifically the scene between Aang and Zuko in that shed after an escape. And then, when Zuko sort of blows up at Zhao, at the fight at the Northern Water tribe.
The writers had given me a lot of good stuff to work with, and so I was just happy that in our show Zuko gets a character arc. In the first season of the animated series, he’s sort of one-note and quite melodramatic in each scene—he's sort of being repetitive about his motives. [But] he was always my favorite character as a kid. I just loved Zuko. Being able to play him was a dream come true.
I saw in another interview that you said that it was great to humanize him. Was there anything that you kind of discovered about yourself through playing Zuko, because he's such a complicated character?
Yeah, since he’s so complex, playing him opened up my heart while I was off-set. When I had originally arrived in Vancouver to work on the show, I was similar to Zuko in that I was very narrow-minded in what I wanted to do, in terms of how I wanted to be an actor on set. I thought this was my one opportunity in life to prove to the people that I have a spot in this industry.
I was like, I'm focused on my work, do my job, go home, rest, and just take care of myself. And throughout that process, that's what it feels like with Zuko and Iroh. Zuko is like, "I'm just going to capture the Avatar, and then return them to my father and then I get to go home." And we see that that's not the case.
There are so many things that are involved in this journey that Zuko and Iroh go on, and something that I felt was my relationship with the other cast members and with the crew members started to grow. I found myself wanting to open up my heart and share this experience with them, and share all the love that I had inside of me that I had been trying to hold back on.
If you were not playing a character from the Fire Nation, what powers would you want to have personally?
Oh, it still definitely would be fire. It’s the most aesthetically-pleasing one in my opinion. In the world of Avatar, you can start to manipulate other elements once you become a master of that base one, and I think lightning is something that I've always thought would be super cool to bend. I think fire represents me, my heart.

I'm a Leo.

Have you seen the TikToks about the Pen15 renaissance?
During my time shooting it, Pen15 was still blowing up. It's been on this continuous rise, which I'm so happy because that show—now it's really, really popular. But at the time, it was so underrated. I was still tapping into a younger version of myself on that series. But [for Avatar] I took inspiration from watching Maya and Anna act out as kids, for Zuko being an innocent child himself in the war meetings, in that first scene with Uncle Iroh in episode six.
I mean, you were still a kid. You were 16. That's a child.
Yeah. Yeah. Well, I guess it's a lot closer to Zuko, and that he doesn't think he is.
Did you really shave your head for this, or did you do a bald cap?
Given that we were trying to stay faithful to the original and what it represented in the show, I thought it was extremely important for me to shave my head. I had a choice. I won't get into what it represents so much, but you get to see a little bit in some of the Avatar lore that exists outside of our series. But it gets you into character so much because it pisses you off so badly every morning. Waking up on the weekends when I'm not working and I just want to go out, I have to throw on a beanie. But waking up and staring at myself—This is my life now, this is who I am—I think it certainly got me into character very easily.
I really liked your red velvet suit at the premiere. How has your style evolved from your younger years to now?
My mom has always been my biggest fashion influence. She's the one who sort of turned me into this picky critic when it comes to outfits and clothes. Even when I was younger, I wouldn't ever let her pick out my outfits. And because I didn't let that happen, I ended up looking really stupid and goofy a lot of the time.
But I think everyone starts in sneakers—very common, especially for guys. You start with basketball shoes, and then you transition into Jordans, and then you transition into some form of streetwear after that. And at that point, you could go, I think, either into this world of vintage or archive clothing, or obviously, people love designer clothing and mixing up that world of streetwear with that.
But for me, I think I just really elevated basics. My style has just become less about brands, obviously, and more about quality. I'm 22 now, so I'm paying for all of this stuff myself. So I'm like, is this worth it? Am I going to be fine without this? On carpets for the Avatar premiere, I wanted to go all out. When I'm in real life, I just stick to all black and different shades of gray.
Did you make a playlist for Zuko, his character to get into character?
I did, but at some point, I stopped using it just because I sort of found my groove from the character. But some artists that were in there were Elliot Smith and Duster.
Which Elliot Smith songs did you put on there?
“Between the Bars.” And just all of his most popular stuff for sure, because especially “Between the Bars” relates to some part of Zuko's life, whether it was his actual scar banishment or catching the Avatar.
Are there any genres you want to dabble in next?
I honestly love drama so much. Obviously, the new Dune film just came out and I just love Denis [Villeneuve]. Every actor, I feel like can agree with me on [that]—and that we want to do an A24 film. But honestly, I'm still just trying to take any work that I can get, because I do want to show my range as an actor. I'd love to work with Willem Defoe on something, that'd be cool. So, just projects that are grounded, but have a stylistic element that separates it from Hollywood blockbusters.

I saw Godzilla Minus One with my brother and a huge batch of friends, everyone looked at me with stupid grins when the Ifukube theme blared on the IMAX speakers, 10/10.
Everyone braced for Yamazaki's politics with this one, and while it wastes no time condemning Imperial Japan and pushing the Japanese government under the bus freely, there's still a very palpable conservative ethos? It's a little out of my lane to dive into, but I dunno, I think it's worth dissecting.
Very much a companion piece, unintentionally or not, to Miyazaki's The Wind Rises. Grave of the Fireflies is another more obvious comparison, but the former movie shares the same deep, aching sentiment of "you must live."
Godzilla himself was fucking incredible. The design (other than the very 60s Showa tail) obviously invokes the Heisei series, but his animalistic-yet-cunning rage was so tethered to Godzilla vs Biollante and Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (far more, I'd say, than Yamazaki's announced favorites like the original or GMK). He's still very much a post-Shin Godzilla take on the character, though. Lots of little surprises and freaky, horrific aspects of his anatomy under the surface. There are two sequences in particular where his angry stare is so... dead. Lifeless. I dunno, he's really, really cool.
(There's also so many shots where, while objectively terrifying, he's so goddamn cute.)
Everyone's been saying "JAWS, IT'S JAWS" and clearly there's a lot of Jaws, but lots of Spielberg in general. Little bit of Dunkirk. Lots of Onibaba and Kuroneko, actually?
Minami Hamabe's Noriko and her Ruriko in Shin Kamen Rider serve the exact same purpose and I find that really funny.
Godzilla's attack on Ginza might be one of the most outwardly harrowing rampages in the entire series. Shin Godzilla mastered a sense of uncanny, otherworldly dread. This is just blatantly show people in the dozens trampled onscreen. Lots of Mosugoji in how he collides with buildings and rips them down.
While the first act is pretty unconventional, really interesting how the pacing for Godzilla's role in the second and third is nearly exactly the same as Shin Godzilla. Including treating the atomic breath as a singular, apocalyptic event the rest of the movie sort've revolves around.
I really, really fucking loved. Also a testament to how the 1954 roar is the best roar, hearing that in IMAX was insane.

Monster High The Movie 2 is truly exceptional in every aspect: make-up, costumes, cast, production, choreography, songs, etc. Since the second movie was announced shortly after the first, I was afraid that it would feel rushed and that I wouldn't like it as much as the previous one. Instead, it was truly incredible and I loved it so much that I would watch it over and over again! As a teenager who spent her entire childhood playing Monster High, it's really cool to see my ghouls and mansters come to life in this new version of their story. I am endlessly grateful for the making of these films, for the care that went into every monstrous aspect, and most of all, I am grateful to the cast for perfectly bringing our favorite monsters to life and for loving them as much as we do. I hope there is a third movie because I long for their story to continue!🖤

Tribute to the Phoenix
Joshua knows his physical weaknesses, he has been sick since childhood, and overprotected by everyone because of his status. We understand that he suffered from it and that he wanted to be as strong as his brother. I think he has become much stronger than Clive. Despite his deplorable state of health, his slowly dying body, he continued to push forward and fight, constantly spurning the attentions of others. He would have kept going even while dragging himself on his knees, and that's what he literally did. Because in truth, Joshua is strong ; very strong. He is life, death and rebirth. He perfectly embodies the Phoenix. He seems the most fragile of the Eikons, but he survives against all odds. It still survives in Clive. His flame, that of life, will never go out, and that's also what Clive fights for.
Joshua went through it all, he was a naïve, innocent child, and became a knowledgeable, responsible adult in the blink of an eye from the player's (and Clive's) perspective. Even if he kept many features of his youth ! He deserved to be happy, but he accepted to suffer and die. It's the most spectacular character evolution in FFXVI. No FF character moved me as much as him.
Joshua got an 18-year reprieve and used it to save the world and protect his brother. It is a privilege, for Clive and for the player, to have spent this short time with him. I love every second that Joshua is in the team ; I played the game again three times in a row just for this happiness, and I would do it again. This stirs so many things in me… I am happy that the two brothers were allowed to see each other again, even for such a short time, before the end.
Sorry, Clive, but your little brother has outdone you. For me, he is THE hero of FFXVI. I love this little boy so much Y__Y
PS > I played all Final Fantasy. I was 14 the first time I played FFVII. I only missed the first two FF. Today, at 41, I can solemnly announce that FFXVI is my favorite FF. Because of Joshua ; because of Clive. Because of emotions. Because of the voices. The staging. Music. I feel the passion and sincerity of the creators in every aspect of this game. I will remember all of this until I die.

The Vinsmoke Brothers as Dads/expecting Dads headcanons.
this was inspired mostly by @moonlit-mystery-writer and her three part series of headcanons for other one piece men as dads I HAD to do it for the RBG boys(Plus she was fueling and encouraging me as well don’t lie.). Anyway here we go!
Ichiji
This guy, like his brothers, probably had some thought they were impotent due to their extensive genetic modifications. So when you approached the future king of Germa to announce that he will soon have an heir, shock was definitely written all over his face.
He recovers quickly, hes the future king of course he does, and has that calm mysterious smirk on his face within seconds. “Good to hear. Germa’s future will be secured with this knowledge”
That is for public however, in private he shows the side no one else will see. He is very happy you both will have a child soon and that his suscpicion was proven wrong and he can have a family with you.
He is also extremely terrrified, but won't show it. He is concerned he will be like his father and hurt them in ways that can’t be easily fixed. takes alot to assure him that he won't
You will catch him at night rubbing your stomach, when he thinks you are asleep, and just whispering promises to them about how they will be a better father than his. That he will be there for them and encourage growth rather than perfection.
When you start to show , expect your lap to be his new favorite place to be. He will find any excuse to wrap his arms around your middle and protect that little growing life inside.
When alone he will press his face against your stomach to feel them, and hopefully hear them.(modern aus he definitely got one of those little portable baby heart rate monitors so he can listen).
You will want or need for NOTHING. Whatever it is he will get it, or make someone get it. And only the best care for the mother of his child.
When the day comes for the child to be born he will be a bit in edge. Anything could go wrong, his mother is proof of that. So he's gonna be nervous
Won't stop him being there to see the child entering the world( you are thankful for the inhuman strength and pain threshold during labor as you had him in a death grip). He will make sure he's one of the first faces that baby sees.
He was in awe hearing his child let out their first cry. After so many months they were finally here. It was hard to believe for him.
The moment his child was placed in his arm, it all clicked into place for him. This was HIS child. His family and he may now start to understand love a bit more ( you helped with the romantic aspect of it but this baby brought home the familial kind).
He'd die and kill for this baby.
He'd be happy with any gender but God forbid it was a daughter
He'd immediately become an absolute DEMON to protect her. If you are not on his short list of people allowed to even breathe around her you will die.
He wonders if it's too early to think about convents ( yes you shut that down quick) or if the castle needs to be made more secure.
Other than that he is very active in their care and upbringing. He doesn't want to miss anything. He doesn't want to be absent like his father and only there when it benefits him.
You have caught him just in the nursery, sitting there maybe even doing work while doing so, talking to the baby, or just holding them. It warms your heart.
He suggested the name Angel, boy or girl, because they are the little angel that gave his life a new purpose to work towards.
He's a very involved dad and is encouraging of what his child is learning. Doing his best not to force perfection or failure mindsets on the child. It messed him and his brothers up. He won't let it happen to them.He wants them to learn and grow even if there is mistakes. Learn from them.
After a few years he is definitely going to approach you about another.
"My dear, what are your thoughts about us having another little one to accompany our angel?"
Niji
Same like his brother he thought they were infertile due to the modifications.
When you told him he thought you were messing with him to get out of some 'alone time'.
When you presented the test/ultrasound to him then it started to process for him.
Honestly doesn't know how to think about the situation. He's not upset about it but he isn't doing back flips about it. It happened, this is bound to happen with how much he can't keep his hands off of you.
Once he sees the duress on your face though, after telling him and not getting any kind of reaction, he assured that he wasn't upset and will take time to process for him.
Time it did take. It took months for him to really grasp what was going on. When he finally heard their heartbeats (yes plural that day he learned it was twins) and saw them on the sonogram it sunk in; this was real.
Like Ichiji nothing but the best in food and care for you, especially food. The mother of his children will not be eating trash! Only the best because his kids deserve the best.
Acknowledges he isn't the best or kindest man( look what he's done to Sanji and others). But he promises to do better for their sakes.
He is fiercely protective, won't really tolerate anyone looking at your pregnant self without permission if he had his way. If you both are somewhere together he will place you in his lap and wrap his arms around your middle while glaring at others.
When they are finally born is when it finally fully cements this is real. Seeing their sleeping faces in their cots, blue hair secure under a warm little beanie, made him finally accept.."yep I'm a father now."
He affectionately calls his twins his little blueberries as they inherited his hair color
He,like Ichiji, is a damn demon when it comes to protecting them. If you aren't even on the breathing list to be near them, you will lose the right to breathe.
He regularly changes his voice to entertain them.
He sneaks them sweets when they are older.
Dad and twins become a chaos team once they can walk.
He really wants them to hurry up and grow he wants to show them and teach them so many things.
When they are a bit older he will also approach for more.
"Darling, what do you think of adding a few more blueberries to the bunch?"
Yonji
If it wasn't the genetic modifications he'd probably think he couldn't have kids due to all the physical trauma his body has gone through on missions. Probably left some damage to that department in his mind.
He stared at you bug eyed for a bit when you told him. Mouth hung open to.
Shook it off fast though and immediately started asking if you were sure. That it wasn't a mistake ( at home tests can be wrong at times after all!).
He went with you to the doctor to confirm the test and see the little sea monkey growing inside you, and that moment everything for him changed.
He's actually excited. Have a mini you or him running around soon? Sounds like absolute fun!
He's also terrified as well. He's terrified the child won't like him.
He also knows people are naturally afraid of him for being the biggest and the strongest of his brothers. He is absolutely terrified of the idea of his own child being afraid of him, like Sanji was afraid of him and judge. it would absolutely break his heart he worked so hard to build.
As soon as it's confirmed about your condition he WILL NOT leave you alone. He's going to be acting as a bodyguard of sorts. No one but doctors, and those he deems safe, will be allowed near you.
He's going to be helping with everything including the nursery. He doesn't trust anyone but you two doing it.
That thing where husbands hold up their pregnant partners stomach to ease the pressure? Yeah he does that a lot for you. He feels bad he can't always do it, but walking would be awkward and he has work.
He makes it up by doing it in bed. Places a pillow on his prosthetic arm so it won't jab you, let's you lie on it then immediately puts his hands on your belly to lift it while spooning to help you sleep.
You will be tucked in close to him, wasn't kidding when saying he was protective.
He also likes to rest his head on your stomach and talk to the baby. And he'll talk about anything with them.(his eyes absolutely light up in excitement when they kick back in response).
You have, silently, woken up to him with his face pressed close to your stomach and holding you. Sounding like he was pleading to the baby 'please don't hate me.'
When the baby is born he is absolutely BLOWN away with how tiny they are in his arms. They look so fragile and innocent in his arms.
He is going to protect them. From the evil that infected him. No matter what.
He, when he thought no one was looking ( you were awake but pretended to be asleep to watch them bond), broke down in tears when he made eye contact with his baby and they immediately made grabby hands for him and happy coos. His baby wasn't afraid, they loved him.
Super involved dad. He wants to be there for everything and have the kid with him at all times. It's not an uncommon sight to see him with the baby strapped to him in the castle as he does non dangerous work.
Fun dad. He's always playing with them and making a silly face at them to keep them entertained or doing something weird to make them squeal in delight (that's his favorite noise). He is addicted to his baby's smile.
His brothers are demons when protecting their kids. He's a straight up MONSTER. If you make that baby so much as quiver their lip in duress, or look at them without permission, he's going to make sure that mistake doesn't happen twice.
Active dad in the exercise sense. He'd do his workouts with the baby nearby, but safely away from heavy equipment, to the point they wanna join dad.
Yes he does those little baby exercises to work out the legs for baby too. Get the kid started young for a healthy life!
He also participates in 'baby workouts '. If the baby is on their back kicking their feet, HES on his back kicking his feet. If the baby is wiggling from side to side trying to roll then he's gonna do it too. If the baby is on their stomach lifting themselves up by pushing up on their little arms then yonji is doing it too and if the baby flops he flops too. He will even do his push ups in time with the baby trying to push themselves off the floor.
His kid is an overachiever. They want to crawl and roll as soon as possible to follow dad around, and he LOVES IT. Makes him so proud and he's their biggest cheerleader.
If the kid didn't learn to crawl before walking they were definitely a butt scooter, and he loved that too and always made sure to compliment their kid as they got better at bouncing along on their butt "whoa! Good job on that bounce little buddy! You got some serious air on that one!"
He wants more as soon as you are able and willing. He loves this one so much he's sure he can spread it to more kids.
" what do you say sweetheart? Wanna make a giant green family with me?"
The thought all three of them share: Absolutely, under any circumstances, DO NOT let judge anywhere near their partners or babies. They were fucked up enough thanks to him. They won't let him do the same to their kids. Reiju is fine though and if Sanji WANTS to, he can come around and visit his nieces and nephews.
