2. What color and style is your hair?: it’s a light brown/dark blonde shoulder length lob, I cut about 8 inches off a month ago and I love it!

4. Do you wear glasses?: heck yeah im blind as hell, but I love the way I look in glasses

5. Do you wear braces?: nope, I did in middle school but that was a long while ago

6. What is your fashion style?: resale shop chic….legit I wear boring clothes like leggings and sweater and only try on my outfits sometimes with crop tops and jeans

8. When were you born?: January 20, 1998. TODAY!! It’s my 21st birthday!

9. Where are you from and where do you live now?: Im from the suburbs of Chicago and still live there except for when im away at school

10. What school do you go to?: I go to university in Illinois

11. What kind of student are you?: im super quiet and never suck up to the professors but I get mostly A’s and B’s but I have to work for them, it doesn’t just come naturally for me

12. Do you like school?: I don’t mind it, I can get annoyed and beyond stressed but I enjoy learning for the most part

 13. What are your favorite school subjects?: sciences! Biology to be exact, im a bio major with a focus in zoology and environmental science

I was tagged by @rainbow-pages a while back. I'm so hopelessly slow at tag games, but I love getting tagged and do eventually get to them. :) This is long, so I’ll put some under a read more link.

Rules: tag 5 or more other writers. If you aren’t tagged, feel free to use these questions anyway and consider yourself tagged! 1. Short stories, novels, or poems? I probably should say novels because that's the whole reason I'm writing these dorks, but I tend to have more fun writing short stories about them than working on the actual books. Poetry definitely is not my cup of tea. 2. What genre do you prefer reading? I mostly stick to fantasy and the occasional scifi. I really should branch out more, but honestly I don't read often enough as it is. 3. What genre do you prefer writing? Fantasy is the only thing I've ever written, usually it's humor/lighthearted and it's always lgbt+. There's just so much freedom that comes with writing fantasy that I can't imagine writing anything else. Plus I really love magic. ;) 4. Are you a planner or a write-as-I-go kind of person? *looks over at the pile of notebooks, binders, and planners* Definitely a planner. I need to have at least some idea of where a story is going in advance or else I have trouble moving forward with it. 5. What music do you listen to while writing? I need silence when I write, so generally there's just some white noise in the background. 6. Fave books/movies? Books: The Hobbit and Lotr, the Discworld series, anything by Tamora Pierce (I love Tortal and the Circle books equally) Movies: I really don't watch movies... I guess I'll say LotR (but NOT The Hobbit ones- those were a travesty) and How to Train Your Dragon 7. Any current WIPs? I'm always working on my "Unexpected Inspiration" series in some way, either the books or short stories about the characters. It's lgbt+ comedic/lighthearted fantasy about artists and carnival performers. It's super fun to write. :D 8. If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be? Oh gosh, probably something really boring. I live in baggy cargo pants, NaNoWriMo tshirts, hoodies or plaid shirts, and doc martens. Basically I grew up in the 90s and never developed a fashion sense past that lol. 9. Create a character description for yourself: 5'4" with the short person complex where I refuse to believe that I'm short. Typical nonbinary haircut with one long side and the rest shaved short, sometimes fun colors but currently just brown. Blue-green eyes behind green glasses. The aforementioned outfit currently in black and grey but with fun Halloween socks. because heck yeah cute ghosties year round. Usually holding a flow prop, most often a wand or a juggling ball, and is frequently trying to pry flow prop away from a ridiculously hyper and fluffy cat. Spends time writing about dorks and daydreaming about writing those dorks. Loves summer and sunlight and warmth, despises winter and cold weather and dreary days.

10. Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing? Nope. I've never had a desire to write about real people or base a character on a real person. If it happens, it's entirely by accident, but mostly my dorks are just themselves. 11. Are you kill-happy with characters? Nope, not at all. I haven't killed a single one. Well except kinda sorta that one time, but he got better! 12. Dream job? I'm in my mid-30s and I still don't know. What I really want most is to share my stories with the world, so probably it's to be a published author. 13. Coffee or tea while writing? Usually just water, but I'll drink herbal teas, too. I can't have caffeine. 14. Slow or fast writer? Hahahahaha... *bangs head against wall* So so very slow. I've been working on the first book in this series for four years. Granted I've been doing a lot of other series stuff in the meantime, but I'm definitely not a fast writer at all. 15. Where/who/what do you find inspiration from? Well, this series is about artists and a big part of that is because I've spent a lot of my life doing different types of art/crafts. And learning flow arts definitely keeps me inspired to write my carnival performers. I'll get inspiration here and there from books or whatever, but otherwise I get most of my inspiration to write from going for walks with my husband and talking out ideas. 16. If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be? The one I'm writing? I'd want to be one of the artists with magic, definitely. I'm just not sure if I'd rather be a Wordweaver (since I'm a writer) or a Threadweaver (because my favorite craft is crochet). If it was a fantasy world in general I'd love to be some sort of wood elf. I love nature and trees and plants. 17. Most fave book cliche? Least fave book cliche? Favorites: Found family. Is that a cliche? I love when characters who don't really fit in anywhere else find each other and would do anything for each other. Least favorite: I'm keeping @rainbow-pages love triangles answer. I think this is one of the reasons polyamory is a big thing in my series lol 18. Fave places to write: At the park on a nice warm sunny day. That failing (mostly when it's winter) I'll take my couch on a sunny day with the sunlight streaming through the window. You can probably see a pattern here- I seem to be most productive when it’s a bright day. 19. Fave scenes to write? I alternate between silly and sappy and I honestly don't know what I like better. I love adorable romantic scenes but I also love writing ridiculous antics. 20. Most productive time of day for writing? Usually late in the evening, which kind of sucks because I have bad insomnia that isn't helped by staying up late or working on things late. I get the most done at once and it flows better if it's late, but often I have to write during the day. Which works other than being distracted by a hundred other things I could be doing lol. 21. Reason for writing: Partly for myself and partly for others. I love the idea of creating characters and worlds and then sort of living in them as I write them, but I also really love the idea of writing stories for people who would like something happy to read- like I want so much to put a smile on someone's face. And I want to give lgbt+ representation because it's something I personally would want to see in a book because it would have helped me when I was younger and it'll hopefully help others see themselves in characters who are in a happy story. Basically I want to be a positive force, I guess? I have no idea who’s done this since I’m two months late with it. Getting to know the Writer

1. Short stories, novels, or poems?

I’ve been informed when I turn my hand to poetry it’s not bad at all. Sadly, I think otherwise.

Truthfully, the most of what I write is campaign notes, world-building, NPC and character backstories and downtime. I’ve helped building three different worlds thus far, one medieval low fantasy, one extrememly high fantasy, and one somewhere in between. And one Sci-fi universe. Although, admittedly, I had an absolute blast with that.

When I do turn my hand to proper writing, it’s typically RP responses that are grossly overdue and short fics. I’m massively guilty of what I call ‘consequence free writing’ wherein I’ll create a scenario, I’ll let a problem or scene develop, and then I’ll end it after the scene’s climax.

Actions don’t have consequences if you’re a character in one of my fics ^_^

2. What genre do you prefer reading?

I’m a dolt for Fantasy in it’s many many shapes and forms. I’ve been known to pick up a a Sci-fi or Dystopian novel once in a blue moon. There’s even some poetry and epics on my bookshelf. If the paranormal, magical, other-worldly, bizarre or otherwise fantastical make an appearance, I am all over that.

And, of course, some writing manuals. Stephen King’s ‘On Writing’ is an actual god send.

3. What genre do you prefer writing?

 I write what I read. Admittedly, RP-wise, I have been writing a surprising amount of romance as of late. I’ve turned my hand to horror before, but I fear it didn’t go overly well.

 4. Are you a planner or a write-as-I-go kind of person?

 I can have a beautiful plot lined up, full of intricacy and clever twists, and my lead character will take one look at it and simply decide otherwise. They have minds of their own. I just sort of set up the world, create the character, their motivation and turn them loose.

 5. What music do you listen to while writing?

 It really depends on the genre. Like almost everyone, the LOTR soundtrack features heavily in my playlist. There’s some translated anime soundtracks thanks to Lie and Lee, Nate Wants to Battle and Amalee. The Swedish Orchestra have done some beautiful work with gaming soundtracks, particularly Bloodbourne and Witcher.  

 6. Fave books/movies?

 Ohhhhhhh buddy. I’ll save us all and limit myself to 5 recent books.

 Mistborn- Brandon Sanderson

Sanderson’s character breathe. They are truly marvellous. His world is a vast one, his story gorgeously compelling and holy hell those twists. 

A Darker Shade of Magic/ A Gathering of Shadows- V. E. Schwab

I adore Delilah as a protagonist. Schwab doesn’t pull punches and try and make his protagonists completely likeable. They are flawed human beings and that gets them into just as much trouble as their abilities get them out of. Kell and Lila serve as each other’s muse and devil, even when half a world away.

 Terry Pratchett- The Night’s Watch

The Discworld never fails to enthral me with it’s wit and charm. Pratchett’s characters are both caricatures and subtle developed individuals. Everyone has at least one character in Discworld they simply adore. Vimes is definitely one of mine. 

The Once and Future King- T. H. White

This collection of Arthurian tales will forever remain on my bookshelf. It has earned it’s place there time and time again.

 The Last Wish- Andrzej Sapkowski

I heard the books where darker than the game. I am currently in the middle of finding out. Sapkowski’s world is a brilliant example of a grimdark world down without the depressing overlay. There are glimpses of nobility, of love and companionship. One just has to be careful those traits don’t get you killed.

7. Any current WIPs?

Every single RP thread I’m working on. The worlds are constantly expanding with more lore and epic-tier backstory.

 8. If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be?

Leather leggings are a must. Likely a vintage cartoon T-Shirt or a block colour top with a loose denim shirt as a cover and ankle boots. 

Unless we’re LRP-ing- Then it’s the corset, gyspy-top, long boots and Hunting coat ensemble. Two swords, a small hand hammer, holy symbol around the neck, more potions than possibly needed and a hipflask (essential). An outfit I love way too much. 

9. Create a character description for yourself:

(More of a NPC description, but ho hum)

‘Away with the fairies’. She had frequently been described as such, and now she seeks to emulate it. Tall, but with far too much of a sweet palette to be lithe. She has a smile like a breeze. Perpetually there, and many don’t realize it’s presence until it’s gone. A mane of curls bounce as she talks animatedly.

10. Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing?

I may steal a series of conflicting traits from a person, but I won’t steal their full being.

 11. Are you kill-happy with characters?

 Oh gods no. I will put them through hell, and possibly their worst nightmares, but I will rarely kill them. All too often, that would be a kindness.

 12. Dream job?

A librarian, or a lighting apprentice for a theatre. I’ve always been fascinated by the backstage of the theatre. The special effects and everything else. I can’t be onstage for the life of me, but I would happily delve into the secrets of the backstage arts.

If I could write LRP plot for a living I would love to, but a girl’s gotta eat.

 13. Coffee or tea while writing?

 I’m with Braith. Hot chocolate wins.

14. Slow or fast writer?

 I make the tortoise look like Usian Bolt.

 15. Where/who/what do you find inspiration from?

Everywhere. I carry a notebook everywhere I go. Sometimes it’s a great collection of ideas, sometimes it’s just one well-wrought sentence. 

16. If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be?

 Oh dang, which one? I’ll assume person preference.

 Probably one I helped make. If I forced to pick, Asyre, particularly in the City of Larchenette. A city risen from the sea, sourced around a fragment of the legendary Sun Crystal. It was one of the first places I ever created and sentimentality holds a lot.

 Not to mention, at some point a dragon washes up on shore, with a merfolk, and half a dozen others.

17. Most fave book cliche? Least fave book cliche?

 Favourite- ‘Two characters sparring, one partner pins another to a wall, intense few seconds, both character start making out.’

 Least favourite- ‘My biggest flaw is I’m clumsy/My power makes me heartless.’ Get OUT of my novel with that nonsense. I will fully rage-quit a story over this type of writing.

 18. Fave places to write?

I tend to write best in an environment where something is going on. A coffee shop, a library, a bar, there’s a lot of options.

19. Fave scenes to write?

 Descriptive, or ones where I can work in some foreshadowing.

 20. Most productive time of day for writing?

 Whenever the feeling strikes. Normally when I’m in the middle of something.

 21. Reason for writing:

 “For a teller of tales will never die- not while there are still people willing to listen.” Stories speak to something primal and universal. In every culture, we have narratives for entertaining, narratives for warning and ones written in tribute or commemeration. I find it speaks to me on that level. Hearing a compliment after I bear my soul, or put my best effort into writing somethingfulfils me in a way nothing else does.

To make things easier, and to quote a wise green haired man once upon a time, I am a writer “because there is nothing in this world I would rather be.”

Short stories and novels.

2. What genre do you prefer reading?

Does manga count? If so, I like yuri, magic, & shojo.

Regular Books: Lgbt+ &/or Fantasy, & historical fiction focusing on native american tribes or early civilization. I also like young adult novels (mainly by VC Andrews/Sarah Dessen or something like Beautiful Creatures).

3. What genre do you prefer writing?

I love fantasy! Magic & mystical creatures & beautiful lands! 😍 Also, I tend to only write lgbt+. I can't help it; I just love writing about two girls in love. 👭

4. Are you a planner or a write-as-I-go kind of person?

Depends on what I'm working on. For my WIP, I definitely plan and outline, though my scenes sometimes float randomly through my head until I absolutely have to write them down. For my short stories, I write as it comes to me.

5. What music do you listen to while writing?

A little bit of everything. I have a playlist that includes cartoon songs, some pop, some rock, some new age, & some random songs that I have no idea where they came from. 🎶

6. Fave books/movies?

Books: Harry Potter, The Hobbit, Annie on my Mind, Clan of the Cave Bear, The Language of Flowers, & many many more

Movies: LOTR cartoon movies, Howl's Moving Castle, Wolf Children, Beauty and the Beast

7. Any current WIPs?

I am working on a lgbt+ young adult novel about a singer and an artist who are both dealing with heavy home problems. They meet, become friends, and slow burn into lovers. They learn to lean on each other for support and find strength by being together (romanticly and non). Also my singer has a best friend who is still in the closet but totally amazing (he is super down to earth, the best advice giver, a rock drummer, & absolutely loves his twin sisters and plants).

8. If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be?

My hair would be pulled back in a twisted bun, probably with a pencil. I would be wearing brightly colored tank tops, shorts, and flip-flops (if any shoes, I prefer barefoot). Maybe include my reading glasses, a book in my hand, and my phone on my hip.

9. Create a character description for yourself:

Red hair, brown eyes, short (5'3"). Really pale skin, freckles. Bright green nail polish. Likes to read, write, & cuddle. Loves animals (mostly cats). Sometimes doodles on arm with bright colored pens. Has sun & moon tattoos on inside of calves. Can be found in sunny rooms, sitting in a plush chair with a book. (I know this sounds silly & jumbled, but this is seriously how I keep up with my babies. Lol)

10. Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing?

No. I try to keep real life separate from my writing.

11. Are you kill-happy with characters?

No. So far my works haven't called for any deaths, but that might change. I doubt I will want to kill several characters though. Only if I really have to. I always feel bad for putting my babies through unnecessary stress.

Being a well loved author

Tea, mainly chamomile & honey.

14. Slow or fast writer?

Slow. I take ages to write even one chapter because I want my timeline to fit right and I rewrite every time I turn around! Honestly, my WIP has 3 chapters mainly because I have rewrote them like 5 times (& have to redo them again).

15. Where/who/what do you find inspiration from?

Books, video games, anime, music, and random pictures (mainly nature pics or anime art). Also my hubby & sister, both of whom listen to my ramblings and bounce ideas with me. 💙

16. If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be?

I would love to be a nature weaver (earth/water magic) or a forestry archer. Either way, I would be a beast tamer and lover of forests.

17. Most fave book cliche? Least fave book cliche?

Favorites: Don't have one.

Least favorite: Love Triangles. I hate them.

18. Fave places to write:

In a plush recliner by a window in the living room. So comfy.

19. Fave scenes to write?

Heart-warming romance scenes & deep, thoughtful moments.

20. Most productive time of day for writing?

I like to write during car rides, laying in bed, or just whenever. Depends on what we are doing that day and when the mood strikes me. Sometimes I'll go hours about my book in my head (maybe all day), then have to write immediately. Other times, I'll get bored and pull open a word document.

21. Reason for writing:

To give someone a place to escape to or to show that they aren't alone with what they are dealing with. Books became my saviors at a young age & I know how they can take away the worries of the day (even if only for a moment). I want to give my readers that chance to get away if they need it.

1. Short stories, novels, or poems?

I prefer novels, but will also take part in the occasional short story.

2. What genre do you prefer reading?

I tend to stick in YA, and then under that umbrella I love contemporary, fantasy, and sci-fi.

3. What genre do you prefer writing?

I love writing contemporary because I love getting into really character driven stories. That being said, I enjoy writing sci-fi, fantasy, and thrillers as well, but I have a much harder time with them.

4. Are you a planner or a write-as-I-go kind of person?

Usually I like to plan, and I like to plan a lot. However, with one of my current WIPs I didn’t plan a single thing really before diving in. It’s my first time trying to complete a project while pantsing and it’s been fun but also incredibly stressful, and sometimes it’s hard to keep writing because I don’t know what’s going to come next.

5. What music do you listen to while writing?

A little bit of everything. I make specific playlists for each manuscript and listen to that playlist exclusively while I’m writing it. The songs on those playlists, however, vary extensively.

6. Fave books/movies?

Books: Harry Potter, The Hobbit, The Book Thief, Little Monsters, Carry On, Fangirl, Turtles All the Way Down, Sherlock Holmes (ALL OF THEM), and many more.

Movies: LOTR, anything by Studio Ghibli, Tangled, The Fall, Moana, Zootopia, God, so many more, but I can’t think of any of them right now.

7. Any current WIPs?

Oof. This doozy of a question.

I’m currently writing two manuscripts - one a contemporary and one a sci-fi. I’m in the planning stages for at least three other projects, and I have a fantasy novel that I need to revise. It’s all a bit of a mess at the moment.

8. If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be?

My hair would be back in a ponytail, and I’d either be in a cute sundress or patterned leggings and a black shirt.

9. Create a character description for yourself:

Brown hair and green eyes. Was one of those girls that was taller than all the other girls growing up, but then became one of the short ones as an adult. Freckled skin and slumped shoulders. A bit overweight but actively working towards fixing that.

10. Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing?

Not particularly. I like pulling certain personality traits from friends or people I know, but not making full characters out of them.

11. Are you kill-happy with characters?

Sometimes. It depends on the story. If it works with everything else that is going on, then killing a character feels right. However, I’m not one to shoehorn it in for dramatic effect.

Both. Honestly, it depends on my mood.

14. Slow or fast writer?

First drafts I usually write quickly (although Tattoos and Tiramisu would beg to differ). However, everything else when it comes to writing takes me forever.

15. Where/who/what do you find inspiration from?

I find inspiration in a lot of things. Movies, video games, books, anime... dialogue prompts. Anything that sounds mildly intriguing to me can somehow become it’s own entire novel. I just have to think about it hard enough.

16. If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be?

This is an incredibly interesting question, but honestly I think I would probably be some sort of Scholar or academic. Someone who has to read a lot of books all the time and take detailed notes about them. 

17. Most fave book cliche? Least fave book cliche?

Favorites: hate-love relationships, runaway princess/royalty... I’m sure there are more, but none that come immediately to mind.

Least favorite: Insta-love, poorly written love triangles.

18. Fave places to write:

At my desk, in by bed, or at a coffee shop. It depends on how productive I need to be, and what kind of atmosphere I need.

19. Fave scenes to write?

Cute fuzzy moments between love interests, sarcastic flirting, and brutal deaths.

20. Most productive time of day for writing?

Late at night. Honestly, I can’t count the number of times I’ve just charged through a couple thousand words in like an hour, but only when it’s like 2 in the morning.

It brings me joy. I love putting words on paper and finding a way to make the vivid thoughts I have make sense to someone else. There’s something magical about it.
