Hello ! I want to thanks you because I am a very slow person. I understand slowly and this makes it very difficult for me at work as well as everywhere in my studies. I have excessive difficulty with words in the sense that it is very hard for me to argue and analyze a text or even just write an e-mail because it is as if I have nothing to say. But I came across your blog and it helps me a lot to gain confidence in myself and to take risks and try things that I wouldn't have thought possible. I have a lot of anxiety in my everyday life and you help me a lot just by posting on your blog about your life. Thanks you for helping me to improve. I wish you the best for your life <3
This was the perfect ask to wake up to. I had a nightmare that I was back in my hometown, and I was back in my mother’s house, trapped again, and I knew I couldn’t get out. Woke up terrified because I thought I was still there, only to take a few moments to realise I was in my own apartment with my cat, safe and in the security of a little mountain town, thousands of miles overland and overseas from them all
Took another few seconds to realise I am not trapped. I have a going away party tonight at the pub with all my coworkers (now friends/family) who took me in and raised me up, and just generally love and admire me and respect who I am (they all joined efforts to help me get out of the mountains to the airport so I can, quote unquote, “spread my wings.”)
Then it took me another moment to remember me and my cat are bound for a flight on Monday that’ll take us far, far away from our continent and never back again
Risks do indeed pay off! And I encourage everyone to take them. Things may get worse for a while as a result, like they did for me, but if it’s better than going back to what you had, it’s always worth it. And in the end, if you just keep striving and going on, things do indeed pay off in ways you never even thought possible
If you want to learn my secret, this is the life advice I live by and always tell everyone when they ask:
“I don’t pick the music, I just dance.”
Words can be tricky and don’t always encapsulate the message for everyone, and that’s perfectly okay! In that particular case, music is always the perfect stand-in
Here, this is my absolute favourite song and has been since I was a young teenager (that makes me sound old… geez I’m only 21) — it sums up how I live my life following that advice, “I don’t pick the music, I just dance.” ☀️
