Portal fact, Wheatley had voice actors before Stephen Merchant. Richard Lorde from Valve originally voiced him as a placeholder in early development and Richard Ayoade was the first choice before Stephen Merchant.

DotA 2 fact! Lina is inspired by the Slayers anime character Lina Inverse, as a version of her was used in the original DotA and called Lina Inverse The Slayer. But before this she had been a male character called Link Inverse! Another fact is that Lina Inverse (Slayers) was partially inspired by the old Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn, (which I think is interesting how it could reflect onto Lina (DotA 2)).

Little ramble time. I love Valve game characters so much because many have their appearances based on real people. They never get stereotypical or basic designs because of it (besides TF2/DotA). So many characters are of unique backgrounds! Chell is Japanese Brazilian, Alyx is Korean and black, Zoey is Middle Eastern, I could go on!!! Valve has taken a lot of designs from people off the street or from their own employees. They have so much more representation for people of color than in series by other video game companies and I think it's really neat. They have good representation because they represent real people, instead of catering to a specific audience like so many other companies do (of course there's a target market but besides that- they keep the characters and their backgrounds realistic!). Their writing is also spectacular and real and additionally to POC I love how female characters are the main focus in so many series (Portal, Half-Life, Left4Dead)!! And also the amount of queer coding you can find in the characters or project onto them!!! I'm still amazed at how many Valve fans are very discriminatory towards minorities- like have you seen the games you're playing? There's no way you can ignore it all!

Update! Gordon is actually modelled off of Valve artist Chuck Jones, revealed in the Half-Life 25th anniversary documentary!!
youtube
Fun fact! Both Gordon Freeman and Chell technically have voices!
In Half-Life 1, Gordon got breathing noises in the HEV suit. These were done by Kelly Baily.
Chell got injured noises in Portal 1 from the Half-Life 2 female citizen, voiced by Mary Kae Irvin. Chell in Portal 2 was also meant to say the word yes, which had a text to speech used in beta for it, and then revealed in the Final Hours of Portal 2 that Chell was also supposed to have a duet with GLaDOS as a joke ending song but got cut.
Here's a link that includes Gordon's breathing noises and you can see who Kelly Baily also voiced
youtube
And here's a link to where Chell's hurt noises came from and a link to Chell saying yes
youtube
youtube
I had a friend say they thought Alésia Glidewell, the person used for Chell's face, could voice Chell. So here's a link to an interview with her
youtube
And apparently Kelly Baily was Gordon Freeman's face so here's a link to his normal voice as well.
youtube
That's all for this post, I just thought it was interesting :)

Valve is now allowing certain AI generated content onto Steam.
I usually don't put as much personal opinion on this account but this isn't a good thing at all. It fits into the same genre as AI generated art or voices. It takes away the hard work done by real creators! I feel people could easily bypass the requirements. Valve just wants to release as many games as possible but they don't care about the quality if it's meeting these requirements. Which makes sense, I suppose, it's good for business. But these "games" will just be a bunch of low quality generated garbage that clearly do not have proper effort or love put into it. It'll ruin the platform! To an extent I think experimenting with the AI stuff can be interesting but I don't think these creators should be earning money with it. I noticed many people in the comments complaining about these issues, much more negativity than positivity, so I'm hoping the backlash is enough for them to rethink their rules (but probably not, knowing Valve!)

I forgot about that, thank you!
Here are links to the ports if anyone wants them, it runs exclusively with NVIDIA Shield products! (Fun fact, NVIDIA is also the company behind Portal RTX!) These are the official mobile ports but there are plenty of other fanmade Valve game ports out there too.
Valve game fact! Every main Valve series appears on console except Dota. However, Dota is the only Valve game officially on mobile, as Dota Underlords. Portal Pinball and Portal Bridge Constructor are the only other Valve games officially on mobile, although not canon to the core series, nor are they directly made by Valve.

Perpetual Testing Initiative is the DLC for Portal 2 where it's basically a built in level editor! But Valve added a bunch of Cave dialog to it to play in peoples levels (basically expanding Portal being a multiverse)!

This also correlates with Caroline! Caroline is a variant of Charles (The writers once pointed out that her name meaning wasn't on purpose though lol).
Also it's funny because Grady and Charlie correlate with GLaDOS and Chell. (In a cut Portal 2 scene, Chell with GLaDOS were supposed to shut off a cube version of Cave Johnson who begs them to kill him. Parallels!)
Oh also the name is of Italian origins (like turret opera). We have come full circle!!

Veeeerrryy late post but happy 25th anniversary Half-Life!
Valve updated the game to have new Deathmatch levels and skins, included one of the first demos (Uplink) and made the game free for a week (but if you missed that, the game is on sale for 99 cents due to the fall sale right now!! https://store.steampowered.com/app/70/HalfLife/)
Valve also released an hour long documentary on the development of Half-Life, showcasing a lot of behind the scenes stuff. https://youtu.be/TbZ3HzvFEto?si=j9rW1OWFJhz24Nt6
Hope everyone celebrated the anniversary well!

Hey guys, I spent awhile to clean up this post and added some new stuff! I made sure to add links to all of the information and I hope you all find this interesting!! If I'm missing anything, let me know!!
Here is all the LGBTQ+ representation in Valve games that I could find (Canon/implied/speculation). The mega list!! Feel free to comment any other canon/implied characters or information that I missed and I’ll add it on!! Same with anything I got wrong. Just have sources or reasonings!!
Any sources are linked within the text, the words with links are underlined (there are no images so the post isn’t overly cluttered)!!  Many of these are subjective and some reasonings here are not 100% accurate but I’m trying to include as much possible representation as I can. Some are very silly!
I’ll occasionally update this with new ideas or findings, so feel free to come back and find the most updated version. The post will always be pinned to the top of my profile!
Spoiler warning for most Valve series ?

Photo dump! Screenshots I got while playing the Escape Simulator Portal DLC! This DLC was approved by Valve and it was quite fun and a bit challenging (for me at least)! There were many references to the original games, and it seemed to have it's own little lore, despite there being no real story (it felt similar to the Portal: Still Alive levels). Escape Simulator is 16 dollars on Steam and the DLC is free. The DLC is short, as it is only three connecting chambers to solve.
