Kangaroo Skull | Mungo, Australia (2005)

Mungo is dominated by ancient lake beds that dried up close to 18,000 years ago. Wind and water have since created the crescent-shaped landforms called lunettes that you see in this image. The lunette is incredibly beautiful in daylight, but there is something special about seeing it under the light of the cosmos that made capturing this moment even more special. Mungo national park, New South Wales.

OC Kiss Scene Tag Game
So, I couldn’t actually remember what kiss scenes I’d already written, and I’ve not written anything of substance for a little while again, so I wrote these for this – I’ve done a fanfiction one as well – I hope that’s alright. Thanks for the tag @wordspin-shares (you actually tagged me on my main as well, but I’ve only done one so I hope that’s alright). This is using characters from my Superheroes Story.
Mungo’s small smirk as he looks down at me makes the urge to punch him build within me. And yet, treacherous thing that my heart is, part of me can’t ignore how attractive that look is on his face. Thank the devil Cosmo isn’t here because he’d see that reaction in an instant and I’d never hear the end of it.
‘You came,’ Mungo says, and despite his cocky expression there’s doubt in his voice. Surprise that he called, and I came.
With a roll of my eyes, I brush passed him and enter the hotel room that he and his brother currently call home. Not that his brother is here; he’s off enjoying the fair with an almost equally excited Cos.
‘I didn’t think…’
‘Then why call?’ I snap, rounding on Mungo as he slowly closes the door. It clicks shut, my insides squirm uneasily at the thought of being trapped. But I know he’d never do that; for all the annoying thing that Mungo is, malicious isn’t one of them. He’d let me out if I asked, wouldn’t even fight despite having called because he needed somebody to be there. Still, with his back to me I can see a tension in his shoulders that I wasn’t expecting; a tightness in his back as he rests splayed hands on the door.
‘I don’t know,’ he says, making no move to face me. There’s something almost brittle about his voice, something Cos could probably translate and reply to in a helpful way without so much as a second’s thought.
‘For fuck’s –’
His lips are on mine before I can finish my complaints. It’s a desperate kiss. One that’s been building between the two of us long enough even Owen has made a passing comment about it.
But Mungo, and the iciness of his skin, pulls away abruptly.
‘Sorry,’ he says, holding his hands up as horror shines behind his eyes. Ever the gentleman.
‘Oh yeah?’ I purr, smirking as I take a step closer to him.
He visibly gulps, and I catch his gaze dipping back to my lips.
‘So that’s never happening again?’ I’ve taken enough steps now that his back is pressed to the door. I can feel his cool breath on my skin, and it barely dampens the heat from my own powers.
‘No,’ he breathes as I raise to my toes. He lowers his head ever so slightly, so our lips are practically touching.
‘Shame,’ I say, before pulling away and smirking as I head back into the room. Perhaps this wasn’t a wasted trip after all.

On 13th January 614, St Kentigern Mungo died , and was buried at his church in Clas-gu which later become Glasgow.
Saint Kentigern has been venerated for many centuries as one of the apostles of Scotland and patron-saint of Glasgow. He is best known in Scotland as Mungo, which means "darling", or "beloved one". Unfortunately, very little genuine information on this 6th-century saint has survived. His later life was composed by a Cistercian monk, Jocelyn of Furness, late in the 12th century, but earlier traditions about the saint are more authentic.
The future saint was born in about 518 or 528 in Culross in Scotland. His mother was the holy princess Theneva, (Enoch) who is also venerated as patron-saint of Glasgow, who's father Loth, King of Gododdin (modern day East Lothian) - was thrown out for being pregnant with Mungo after an illicit encounter with her cousin, King Owain of North Rheged (now part of Galloway). Her furious father had her tied to a chariot and launched off Traprain Law.
Amazingly she and the unborn baby survived and her father, now believing she was a witch, set her adrift in a coracle without oars up the River Forth.
His early life was shaped by St Serf who ran a monastery at Culross and rescued his mother and cared for her and the young boy who he affectionately called Mungo, meaning 'dear'.
Aged 25 Mungo began his missionary work on the banks of the River Clyde and built his church close to where the Clyde and the Molendinar Burn merge - this later became Glasgow Cathedral.
He was exiled during AD565 when anti-Christian King Morken of Strathclyde drove him away - he travelled through Cumbria and settled for some time in Wales before completing a pilgrimage to Rome. By the 570s a new king, Rhydderch Hael of Strathclyde, overthrew King Morken and invited St Mungo back to become Archbishop of Strathclyde. His church on the Moledinar became the focus of a large community that became known as Clas-gu or 'family'.
He died on Sunday 13 January 614. He was buried close by his church, and today his tomb lies in the centre of the Lower Choir of Glasgow Cathedral.
In order to become a Saint, it was necessary to prove that the candidate had performed miracles during their life - St Mungo was supposed to have performed four immortalised in this poem:
Here is the bird that never flew
Here is the tree that never grew
Here is the bell that never rang
Here is the fish that never swam
Today the bird, the tree, the bell and the fish form the four elements of the crest of Glasgow City Council.
St Mungo continues to influence Glasgow life today such as the mural seen on High St Glasgow by Australian born artist, Smug, depicting a modern day St Mungo and referencing the story of The Bird That Never Flew near to St Mungo's final resting place at Glasgow Cathedral:

End of the year wrap; p2
6. Episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you?
I honestly couldnt think of one and i realized why; i watched way more twitch than tv this year. So heres a mildly hilarious clip (if you are a twitch user) of the CEO of twitch being taught how to roleplay by @ spaceboy and then @zaitohro making a fucking funny joke about how twitch pays its streamers. While streaming on twitch.
twitch_clip
I watch way too much twitch right now in my life, its completely replaced tv, but mostly i watch Grand Theft Auto Role Play, which sounds so lame i know but its actually really awesome. The people that create content on there really put their heart and soul into it, a way big companies and celebrities could not. Some of my favorites are spaceboy, mungo, chatterbox and traumz_ just to name a few but there are so many more.
7. Favorite actor of the year?
Asked my husband who our favorite actor this year was, and he immediately said ‘daddy pascal’ 😂
Tumblr media
Hes so right though.
8. Game of the year?
I already talked about this previously (see my #gaming tag) but tears of the kingdom was probably my favorite this year, just because i had so much fun with it. The switch tells me i spent 205 hours in game. So not a crazy amount but i definitely was having fun lol
9. Best month for you this year?
November! I got married 🙌🏼 after 10 years of dating and genuinely being best friends, were now best friends forever, government says so😈
10. Something that made you cry this year?
Hey mayn listen, i literally cry at movies or when i get too hungry or if i listen to really good music or whatever. I pretty much always cry. But if you want me to cry without fail, just put me in my feels and put this song on. Play this on a loop, ill cry forever.
