The Williams F1 driver on first-year pressure, his father’s role helping his rise to Formula 1, and his drive of the Matra MS10 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

There was definitely too much hype around me after my first race in Bahrain; it was just too much straightaway. I knew that seventh place and fastest lap was probably too much too soon and it wouldn’t always be like that. But that’s Formula 1, it’s a fast-moving place to be and it became obvious to me that the hype was too much, especially when the next races were not so good and nobody was hassling me.

It’s been an up and down sort of season, but that’s only to be expected. There’s a lot of expectation in year one, pressure to do well, but that’s been the same all through my career. Yes, I need to become more consistent, but so does the whole team as well.

Everyone asks me about my father’s role in all this. He’s been a big help to me, very supportive and he’s, you know, a very wise person, he knows a lot about motor racing. But he’s tough on me, he’s a pessimistic sort of person in many ways, he tends to be quite negative about things and that can be tough. He doesn’t push me, it’s not a question of him pushing, it’s more that he can be negative as a person, even though he’s supportive.

I did underestimate the pressure in Formula 1 but you can’t be prepared completely for all the things that come with competing at this level. You have to try and make sure it doesn’t affect you. There’s a lot of things to do. But that’s the way it is, the way it’s always been. In the end the pressure is just part of the job.

The main thing is I need to get this first year under my belt. I need to get to know the tracks, to get accustomed to the routine of Formula 1. Once the season is under my belt I need to get working with the team during the winter, and again this is a team thing, it’s not just me.

Away from Formula 1, I went to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year and that was a really nice experience. It’s just a great event and it was so nice to see so many fans getting close to the cars and the action on the track. Williams brought last year’s car and both Mark Webber and I drove it up that hill. Frank Williams and Patrick Head were there too, and lots of the other F1 drivers. There should be more events like this as it only seems to happen in England.

I drove a Matra MS10 grand prix car at Goodwood, too, as part of a video with RBS and Jackie Stewart who raced the car back in the ’60s. It was fun, a bit like driving my old Formula 3 car, but it was a crazy time in racing. It must have been like sitting in a rolling bomb. Racing a bomb with wheels is not really my thing. The chassis ends around your hips and the rest of you is kind of hanging in the air. All you have around you is about seven millimetres of aluminium and there’s 220 litres of fuel floating around in there. That’s mental, and not my cup of tea, but then no one knew about anything better in those days.

If you don’t think about the danger then it must have been amazing racing with all that four-wheel drifting and sliding. Yes, it was a nice experience to do that at Goodwood.

finished main story 10 today and came here like i need to know what zak reptilianraven actualbird thinks about this!!! because everything drove me insane!!!

like I didn't REALIZE it was luke cause i thought it was like the episode opening cont. and not a different scene where the story actually starts. so when he showed up and started agent raven-ing i actually yelped in surprise. MY POOKIE IS HERE???

and I'm so happy that we actually got more of a glimpse into the guys' other activities!! i think the reason they isolated mc in ms9 is more to focus on her personal doubts and how those are playing into the story as we see in ms10 (all the talks with artem and her internal monologues like OHHHHH my sweet baby girl (not babygirl but baby girl iykwim). but i did enjoy seeing what everyone else was getting into while we were busy and shit.

(also no followup to the luke thing but everyone is busy. and im pretty sure rosa thinks it's a chronic illness that's gonna be with him forever not one that's gonna kill him in a few years)

although what we've learned about vyn this chapter is actually God Damn what the fuck did he do in his past life to not only be born to separated parents as a mixed child where one is Svartan Royalty and the other is like Stellis Mafia. no wonder he's like that. matthew richter was gorgeous i cannot imagine how stunning his mother is. i will Die once i see her.

marius didn't get as much of a focus but heheh. this is so good. delicious. yummy. More Vyn and Marius Rivalry material. he's so hot when he's being a boss but also he was so sweet and silly about sending us the info. marius 4lyfe i was obsessed with his every scene

all in all im glad that it doesn't seem to be the nxx actually being divided but the plot is getting thick and they're spreading out to deal with separate roots. teamwork <3

on the other boys’ activities: yesssss i adored this too. i love it in any main story chapter when we have like little scene breaks away from the main boy of the chapter to show what the others are up to cuz then those differing threads eventually come together to wrap themselves up again

on luke’s illness: NOW THAT U MENTION IT…..THAT MAKES SENSE, SHE PROBLY DOES THINK IT’S CHRONIC AND NOT TERMINAL. my memory is bad, but yeah im not sure if luke actually fessed that part of his diagnosis/prognosis, he just said he was sick. i think if she did know it was currently deemed to be terminal, she would be much much more worried about it

on the prank with artem: that entire elevator scene is seared into my brain with how hilarious it was. the cn va needs an award for that. he was so good at acting like he was bad at acting jkhVKJAHVFKAJHF

on artem and vyn sneaky guy shit: as disturbing as The Sauna and The Auction were, artem and vyn were—and i cannot stress this enough—SO COOL IN THEIR ACTING. the oscar award goes to them. my favorite bit in the sauna scene was when vyn told mc to threaten him like HOO BOY he knows how to stage a SCENE

on the nxx schism (?): yeah yeah i also got that vibe too!! from ms9’s sheer hostility, ms10 was much more relaxed, probably because none of the boys interacted with each other as much. but i also wonder if ms9’s intense hostility was caused in part because luke was the main partner for that, and he was going through a Pretty Tough And Frustrating Time. here, since there wasnt any interaction between the boys (even between vyn and artem, who were both at the auction. it was ogier who led mc to artem) there wasnt any scene for the prior hostility to play out. so right now, im unsure if this means that the nxx schism is still happening or that we simply didnt get a chance to see it again in action, so it’s got me very interested for how things will play out in the next story, especially now that marius Knows What He Knows

Parameters To Select Your Stirring Range For Laboratory Use

Stirring and agitation are common steps in almost all research and testing labs worldwide, for blending, dissolving, or other purposes, regardless of their application. Magnetic Hot Plates & Overhead stirrers are basic lab equipment that is found in every laboratory. These are used for various heating and stirring needs depending on the application and are available in different configurations with varying capacities and functionalities. Here in this blog we will know the parameters for selecting stirring range for laboratory use.

Stirring can be combined with heating and mixing. Choosing between the type of stirrer as per your application is not always a simple task, to use a correct instrument to get the desired result there are several factors to be considered:

Volume of sample

Viscosity of sample

Heat requirement

Type of vessel

Type of mixing

Magnetic stirrers offer low noise, better efficiency, lesser instances of external parts breaking or wearing out. Basically a magnetic stirrer is good when dealing with small volumes from 0.4 ml to around 20L, typical lab bench models (Neuation provides magnetic stirrer up to 200liter). A Magnetic stirrer is used in Biological, chemistry laboratories, and microbiological laboratories as it is small in size and easy to move from one place to another having various position options for wider lab application solutions to be made in one go. This type of stirrer operates with magnetic bars that work best with commonly used flat bottom glass containers for various chemical reactions. While using a magnetic stirrer, the stir bar size selection is also important. As for choosing the bar there are often suggestions for the maximum size of bar to be used as a too short bar can result in low or improper mixing.

One of the advantages of using a magnetic stirrer is there is almost no risk of contamination occurring. There are complete ranges of magnetic stirrer with or without heating capabilities. Whereas mechanical stirring devices are used for larger volumes to get expected results. Overhead stirrer can range up to from 10L to 100L for higher volumes.

Magnetic stirrer and Hot plate stirrer can be used for solutions having Viscosity close to water. But higher viscosity and larger volume mixing are where the overhead stirrers have an important role, but again it can be critical in applications where there is non-newtonian fluid, like polymerization and lotion making where viscosity increases as it cools. Refer to the overhead stirrer’s viscosity and torque specs to ensure the motor is suitable for the viscosity of your sample, and check for the ability to maintain the set rpm under changing viscosity. Hence, overhead stirrers can be used for pseudo plastics, Newtonian fluid with high volume; Thixotropic liquid after checking its viscosity to the instrument’s maximum viscosity range.

Viscosity is an important parameter to be considered when it is required to create product emulsions and suspensions by mixing and homogenizing or merely in the transfer of fluids from one location to another.

Many magnetic stirrer models include a hot plate for simultaneous heating and mixing. Overhead stirrers require separate equipment for heating, whether it is a hotplate below the vessel or a heating mantle. If solutions are autoclaved with a Magnetic bar it ensures mixing without non-sterile environment exposure.

Magnetic stirrers have their best performance in flat bottomed vessel providing unhindered rotation of stir bar and closest contact with the magnetic agitator.
