Colani Utah 8, 1989. Used by Luigi Colani to set several speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway. Standing 90cm high it was powered by a turbocharged BMW K100 flat-4 motorbike engine that produced 150hp and weighed only 550kg. The highly aerodynamic styling featured rear view mirrors on extended "stalks" that flowed out of the wheel arches.

Riding the Rails
#courier micky#did I research railroad hand/lantern signals for this? Yes. Yes I Did.#a few nights ago as I was comin out of a dream#I suddenly had a very intense mental image of a western desert post-post-apocalypse set game#using steam locomotive driven trains that you flag down as the fast travel mechanic#along with mounts like horses and a motorbike to get around otherwise cause even half conscious I realized that could be a lil annoying#just as a gameplay mechanic#fnv but with more horses and trains (as it should have) and less nukes since the apocalypse for this setting felt like more of#climate and/or tech (either in the form of mass tech failure or a tech that ended up damn near destroying civilization)#so everything is hot and dusty and there's a cultural preference for non electric tech mostly as a justification for the steam choo choos#trigun 98 meets f:nv meets century of steam ass setting#and I think this might morph into Micky but with the serial numbers scraped off's new home setting#still a courier but instead of being a travelling medic he's a travelling engineer#both the train kind and the machinery and tech kind#puttin all this in tags cause it's still half baked and not ready to be spread around much methinks

i can’t wait to meet the other speedsters to see how they adapt to their powers and which unique traits/struggles are emphasized between them. especially the adhd-coding! we have the general baseline stuff like fast talking and restlessness, but i’m so curious abt all the other things you could explore with each character
i can only speak for barry, but the way his speed-mind is described deeply resonates with me
(“a moment of regret… is an eternity” sounds a lot like rejection sensitivity disorder, but i digress)
it is so easy to translate timeblindness with the speedforce: the feeling of being overwhelmed by your thoughts, being out of touch with reality, not having any sense of how much time has gone by… it really does feel like the world is passing you by at a different rate
and it’s one thing to lose track of the clock, but it’s another to actively be considerate of the time and still miss the mark by a mile. i couldn’t even make an estimate for human error if i tried. all my life, i’ve felt like i existed in my own world, always lost in thought, and it was like being trapped by my mind
you can imagine my catharsis seeing barry go through the same internal struggle
ngl i cried reading this. the contradiction of being so slow bc your mind works so fast is a very familiar feeling. being overwhelmed by choice, unable to separate the sheer force of your thoughts from reality…. maybe i’ll talk abt this in a separate post too, but i genuinely used to think that i was jumping timelines bc my reality was so contradictory. i straight up had to make up a multiverse theory to cope with my neurodivergence. and y’know what else loves multiverses? superhero comics 😎 (fun fact: the flash was the very introduction of multiverse theory to superhero comics! rly coming full circle here)
when i say speedsters are adhd-coded, i don’t just mean the hyperactive connotation you see with that trope. having these comics write barry’s struggles within the frame of his superspeed has done so much for me. in a roundabout way, it put my adhd experience into words

Never have I been more happy to live in a country that people have no idea exists most of the time because I have never been more happy that the uoa library was under construction, and that basically every study space on campus was taken by 8am, and bc of that we went to a local library instead.
DAMN THAT MAN ALSO STUDYING AS THE LIBRARY WAS FINE. MAN HAD TOJI BODY TYPE AND I WAS LIVING FOR IT ... I WAS ONLY PLANNING TO STUDY FOR 3 HOURS BUT WAS THERE FOR 7

Ghia Nibbio II, 1956. Designed by Giovanni Savonuzzi at Ghia for Count Gianni Lurani. Savonuzzi applied knowledge gained from the Turin Polytechno wind tunnel to come up with the streamlined styling for the second of the Count's record cars. It was powered by a 350cc Moto Guzzi single cylinder motorbike engine and between 1956 and 1958 the Nibbio II set up some international 350cc class speed records at Monza achieving a top speed of 130kph (81mph)
