Not related to much of anything, but I love seeing YD's posts over on twitter. She's being so positive, and seeing all that excitement is downright adorable
Like when she saw a clip of Phil running over to pick her up after she got downed on her first day
That's so freaking cute
Not to mention all the fanart she's been retweeting, even asking at one point if retweeting or quote-retweeting was better because she wanted to start sharing the fanart that people were making
And of course this post she made today after doing some offscreen digging

I also wanna say that I really liked Jyungreok's (Let me know if I spelled that wrong) energy too when he joined, he was absolutely hilarious. Though he hasn't been on as much to see. Same with Acau and Kong (Again, let me know if I'm spelling these wrong)
It's just nice to see this kind of positivity again and remember the great things that this server can bring to people all around the world. I'm really excited to see more of them once the server gets back up and running at 100% again (I also cannot WAIT to see how YD and Kong interact with Chunsik)

#book recs#i haven't finished the last one yet but it's been good so far! i really admire these women's resilience and solidarity#some inspiring stories of political activism + insight into aspects of korean history i didn't know about#i wanted to do a half-fiction half-nonfiction list like last year but i've read mostly disappointing fiction this year :(#my favourites were probably kivirähk's the man who spoke snakish & catherynne valente's radiance; though it wasn't as good as orphan tales#i'm reading jacques abeille's les jardins statuaires right now and it's quite frustrating because on the one hand#it's well-written and interesting with original worldbuilding. on the other i'm 300 pages in and there have been#2 female characters. the purpose of both (so far) was to have sex with the male protagonist and only 1 has a name#which makes the read feel less original and more ''same old shit as far as i'm concerned''

To the people who want to learn a language because of their favorite media but feel like it's a stupid reason, just go for it! Learning a language is a fun and useful skill that can come in handy when you least expect it, especially if you live in a diverse area.
Not to mention it can help you understand the media you're consuming on a deeper level. Interacting with the fanbase from that culture can help contextualize choices made in your favorite anime, video game, or kpop song.
Why did this japanese game portray europe like this? What problems in korea is this kpop song about? What is this festival in my favorite anime about?
What are the translations missing? What has been localized and why?
It's so incredibly rewarding to be able to understand different perspectives from different cultures. It's amazing to be able to communicate with people different from you. Learn whatever language your little heart desires. Go forth.

a little bit mad that the Expensive Korean Skincare Product I purchased on a whim is actually making my skin noticeably clearer. me insisting for years that skincare is a sham and cheap facewash and moisturizer is all you need and now look at me. it comes with a tiny little shovel to scoop out the correct amount. I feel like an annoying YouTuber every time I wash my face. my face which has never felt better because of this stupid Expensive Korean Skincare Product
#no I will not tell you what it’s called mostly because it doesn’t say on the bottle and I threw away the little box it came in#this has been a post#okay the like. the fact that my skin looks better isn’t nothing because I do live in the world#but genuinely. my skin is soft and not oily or dry#which has been such an issue for me#I’ve tried. everything that is less than $15 in the drugstore#I’ve tried stuff for oily skin for dry skin for combination skin#I’ve tried stuff from the natural section I’ve tried stuff with all the right acids and whatnot#n like the toner and moisturizer I’m using is still the cheap drugstore stuff the only difference is Expensive Korean Cleanser#I don’t even remember how expensive it was I just know it was more than I would normally spend on skin stuff#starting to wonder if I should be paying $30 for shampoo. my hair is nice but it could be nicer …….

The argument that you don't listen to rap because you are ace... is so stupid? Like I am ace, don't generally like rap except for a few specific artists that tickle my brain, but even if you like the genre but not that "it is all or almost all sexual" (braindead take btw)... then listen to rap in a language you don't speak well enough or at all? If you don't want to hear specific lyrics and don't mind not understanding all of it, that would be such an easy fix? I will defend checking out things especially music genres that you have a negative bias against anyways and also music from countries and languages that you don't know til the end of time

The irony that the English title about an elite Academy (aka Hagwon) is grammatically incorrect. It should be either "The Midnight Romance In A Hagwon/The Midnight Romance In An Academy" or "The Midnight Hagwon Romance/The Midnight Academy Romance". Interestingly, the Korean title translates to "The Graduate" or "Graduation". Though I understand why you wouldn't use "The Graduate" since it refers to a pretty infamous movie with Dustin Hoffman.
