[ID: Digital magnus archives fanart. Digital art of a rose-shaped rib cage being supported by two tall and thin bones stacked atop each other on the top of a mound of soil. Wing-like protrusions come from the top of the upper bone. The piece is minimally shaded with gray against a white background. End ID]
The Bone Rose
My first drawing posted to Tumblr ever, and a first of a series of drawings based on the flowers from the Mortal Garden in MAG 171.
Thank you @princess-of-purple-prose for the ID.

I listened to MAG 171 recently and my botanist heart just had to draw the flowers of the mortal garden. And since I can't sleep, I decided to start with the blossom of the Gristlebloom Orchid.
I'll add a full-flower drawing and a detailed drawing of the roots when I feel like it, and then jump to the next flower.
Also, I'm trying to keep it in a style of a botanists notebook, but not sure about that yet.
Anyway, I hope some people out there like it. I am not rerally confident in my drawing skills, so please feel free to give advise if you have some to spare

Cannot believe it’s taken me about two years to realise that so much of the Flesh would be consumed by ppl who have particularly strong body dysmorphia and dysphoria. I was stuck in this idea of them not being enough but it is the complete wrongness too

Text: I sell mortality of all sorts to those who come seeking it. Often they want just enough to appear human, to bleed, or cry. Some want to meet with death for business, and need to die to do it.

Hell, the vast majority of ancient Greek characters are bastards and they all did good things sometimes too.
Mortals and demigods have a short life, but it is people who come up with and improve such a concept as “moral values”, yes, we constantly screw up, but still.
In the context of PJO, every notation from the gods about what kind of asshole heroes are, such rage boils inside me that you know, I really understand Luke and those who joined him. Real human revolutions were also built on blood, y'know (I don't mean it's good, that just the way it works).
This world is not black and white. Even fictional stories are more interesting the more gray the story.

Here it is, after waaaaaaaayyyyy too long. The first drawing of Gristleium patricia, commonly known as the Bone Rose.
It took me a bit longer, cut I first needed to find an angle of approach and later had a bit of trouble motivating myself.
Anyway. I decided that instead of the well-known kind of rose, the one with loads of petals, I'd go for the unaltered kind of rose and so took inspiration from a hedge rose. (For those who are interested, there is actually a pretty cool mechanism behind having flowers create more petals)
Sorry for the bad picture quality, btw
