Just felt like compiling McCoy wanting to study things (probably not every scene but enough)
re: Van Gelder
“Jim, you should see the research facilities. They've got a lab down there that. Well, I could spend the rest of my life studying it.”
“Lieutenant, do you mind if I take one of these down to the lab to see what makes it tick?”
“These roots and soil cultures can be a medical treasure house.”
“Do you think I intend to pass up the greatest living laboratory since--”
“Jim, that organism contains chemical processes we've never seen before and may never see again. We could learn more in one day--”
SPOCK: I suggest that any further research on your part be delayed until after we have diverted the asteroid.
bonus:
“I'm a surgeon already. If I could learn these techniques, I might be able to retain them.”
“I might be able to retain and bring these techniques to the world. Jim, isn't it worth that risk?”

I'm starting to wonder if psychiatrists are starting to really get shit scared that they're losing their stranglehold of authority over the neurodivergent population. Talking about your experience with mental illness is spreading misinformation. Spreading coping mechanisms amongst your peers is misinformation. We are the ONLY reputable source of advice for mental illness and our advice is take our pills (which are inexplicably $70 for a one month supply) and keep quiet like a good little worker I mean patient. Just a thought.
oh absolutely. big "ok, doctor google" energy
but the lack of actual adhd research in the citations along with reading what they deemed misinformation just highlights that... general psychiatrists know shit-all about adhd. sorry buddy just because YOU didn't know about it doesn't make it Not True
i mean for fucks sake they said adhd being equally common in boys and girls was Fake News and cited diagnostic statistics. none of the research on it being under-diagnosed in women because psychiatrists are shit at their jobs
"well more boys are diagnosed than girls so OBVIOUSLY it's more common in boys what no don't look at all that research about us fucking up diagnosis in girls haha whaaaaat"
*sniffles* you are all so fucking stupid

'Guess not'
“I can’t help but think about all the lives we’ve taken.”
His eyes reflected the stars flying by outside, his breath calm and even despite the obvious turmoil raging beneath his ribs. The engines’ humming resonated in the otherwise silent observatory.
”What do you mean?”
His eyes met Keith’s.
”We’ve killed so many of them. I’ve ended people’s lives, Keith. I will come back home a murderer, Keith.”
His breaths weren’t as calm anymore, instead coming out as sharp exhales. His eyes didn't reflect any stars anymore, either. Instead they were filled with something that Keith couldn't quite describe. Regret? Pity? Greif?
”Lance, you do remember that they destroyed Altea, right?”
”I know that!” He spat defensively. ”God, do you seriously think I could forget about that? I just- they can’t all be bad right?”
”Lance, they have killed and destroyed hundreds, if not thousands, of planets. Billions have lost their homes and families, and here you are, feeling sympathy for the ones responsible?”
”Keith, just stop and think about it for a second.”
Keith huffed, willing to listen, although he doubted he would agree with whatever Lance had to say.
Lance turned his full attention to Keith, seemingly powering up to start an argument. What did Keith do to deserve this?
”Don’t forget that their planet was destroyed first. That was what started the war.”
Keith was beginning to regret coming here. He wanted to get his mind off of the war, not pick it apart and analyze it.
”What started the war was the emperor’s thirst for power and the witch's obsession with quintessence. Their planet was destroyed to prevent-”
”-to prevent what? A war?”
Silence returned to the observatory, but the light atmosphere was gone.
Lance sighed.
”All I'm saying is that millions lost their homes and their families when Daibazaal was destroyed, too.”
Keith didn’t answer.
”All the soldiers we’ve killed might have had families of their own. Their kids will grow up wondering where their mom or dad went. They will ask why they were killed when all they did was defend their people. What will the kids grow up thinking about the rest of the universe for not saving their parents?”
Keith still said nothing, not wanting to continue this discussion. Lance didn't seem to get the memo.
”The emperor is looking for power, the soldiers are looking for revenge, Keith…”
Still silent. Still nothing.
”…just like the Alteans.”
It clicked. Keith tried not to show it, but he got it. He got it now. Lance huffed, seeming to notice this realization despite Keith’s efforts.
”See, I’m not that dumb!”
”Never said you were,” Keith grumbled.
He seemed satisfied, turning back to silently look at the passing stars again.
” … and hey, we have proof right here.”
Lance bumped his shoulder, sending him a crooked smile.
”You’re not some bloodthirsty monster looking for chaos, are you now?”
Keith let out an amused huff.
”Yeah, guess not.”
