I love Genya so much. I love his Mohawk, I love that he has a gun, I love how angry he is, I love the way he (spoiler ahead) eats demons, I love his temporary demon character design with the yellow hair and eyes, I love his purple clothes, I love how he's tall, I love how they make him blush like crazy when Mitsuri is around, I love his backstory with his brother (in that it's well written)... I just love Genya. I love his character design and traits and story so much.

i have deep desire to write for demon slayer (and by write for it im specifically talking about zenitsu currently.) but the story is so deeply impacted by it's setting that its gonna take at least two weeks of research to do it any justice so the plans r Delayed

#aristotle.txt #writing for my hero = easy because im insane and know every inch of it #writing for anything else = impossible #i figured trying to find fic for it was going to feel like this in the first place #from my limited understanding the story takes place in the events directly after japans first industrial revolution #which means that the advent of technology is not only integral to the story telling but there's also like an unreal #amount of sociopolitical context for most of the major details #writing for my hero is easy because a society post tech is very easy to imagine. we live in it lol #demon slayer in particular takes place during the emergence of industry #what makes zenitsu an interesting character to me is that his narration is influenced directly by his class and proximity to modernity #he has a specific level of cynicism i can only describe as post industrial. whether that be his sense of cowardice over tanjiro/inosuke #or his attitude towards women. the way he behaves and how he critically analyzes certain kinds of behavior #like im currently watching the entertainment district arc and i think inosukes reaction vs zenitsus pretty much exactly covers it #where inosuke is overstimulated and tanjiro is reserved - zenitsu recognizes the district for what it is. that quality makes him stand out #a lot among them at least to me. i love hearing him talk sooo much lmfao.#anyways. all that to say. i want to write zenitsu but i need to do more reading to make it any good so . pray for me i suppose #zenitsu the embodiment of men used to chop trees and go to war fr

I am reminded once again how I wish that we were shown more of Giyuu's backstory. I would understand it better if he was a normal guy whose parents are alive, but Giyuu's the opposite of that, his backstory is actually really sad in hindsight too.

From what I remember, the fanbook tells us how he lost his parents to an illness when he was young, leaving only him and his sister Tsutako. Their parents left some money for them to be able to survive, but surely, that still can't be easy. Tsutako must have had a lot on her shoulders while taking care of Giyuu.

and I wonder how Giyuu must have felt during those times, was he too young to process all of it, or did he feel like a burden to his sister? Is that one of the underlying reasons why he felt guilty for what happened to Sabito and Tsutak? Some of these stuff were definitely implied in the main story, but I just wish they showed us more of it!

And just when Tsutako is finally about to get married, she lost her life to a demon because she chose to protect Giyuu, and Giyuu tried to tell the townspeople about what happened but they didn't believe him. His distant relatives instead planned to take him away because they believe he is mentally ill. So without any choice, Giyuu ran away, nearly diied in the mountains but was founded by a hunter and later taken in by Urokodaki. The rest is history.

Considering how training takes about two years, and Giyuu was 13 years old when he took the final selection. I would guess that he’s probably around 11 yrs old when all of that happened to him.

Like that was a lot of stuff. Giyuu clearly had a rough childhood, but that wasn't shown in the main story at all and was just summarized in one taisho secret. :(

I wanted to see more of his relationship with Sabito and especially Tsutako. I really really hope we get a spin off or a light novel chapter that can help further flesh out the rest of his backstory, because it's just way too interesting not to.

#maybe I just had higher expectations for Giyuu #bc he is the first ever hashira that was ever introduced and the FIRST to believe tanjiro #so surely he must be very important right? he did help kickstart the story afterall!#and he is and not to mention his backstory with Sabito was hinted on since the very beginning so maybe I just overanticipated #but I was so looking forward to know more about him I waited for several arcs #but it ended up being wayy too short for me #and I wanted to know more about Tsutako too but shes only there for like two panels #so yeah I was a little bummed about that #but I still love Giyuu lots tho and I hope the future spin offs will show us more of him #tr #kny #demon slayer #kimetsu no yaiba #giyuu tomioka #me speaks #everytime I see ranking on who among the hashiras had the most tragic backstory #i cant help but think man giyuus is sad on its own too its just a shame it wasnt shown more in depth

sabito asked tanjiro to say hi to giyuu for him if/when they meet again (would it confuse the fuck out of him yes)

tanjiro spent months trying to figure out how to make flower crowns the way that makomo used to, eventually he figured it out and makes them for his friends (every time he visits urokodaki he puts one on her grave)

giyuu is chaotic neutral

makomo has just so many little trinkets usually cool bugs or animal bones she finds in the forest, urokodaki still has a box filled with her collections

sabito carved his and giyuu’s initials into a tree

giyuu used to tuck his haori into his pants like in his original design (OLEASE HE LOOKED SO COOL LIKE THAT LET ME HAVE THIS)

not really fox squad but tsutako would have been a swiftie sorry not sorry

sabito has the dramatics of a high school theatre kid but the mind of a jock and its worrisome
