Oolong, lapsang souchong, rooibos? ( - the-insouciant-scientist)
(I’ve got doubles of a couple prompts, so I’ll answer half here and half later)
Oolong: How does your OC decorate their space?
Ambrose loves luxury, shiny things, and he’s a bit of a hoarder collector. His decor style is pretty maximalist and the only reason his space isn’t overly cluttered is because he employs a very organized housekeeper. There are a lot of bookshelves, some filled with books and some filled with random trinkets and treasures. He has a nice china cabinet for his T8 item collection (also holding some of his husband’s more valuable stolen prizes). In between the shelves, he’s hung up artwork he bought from various artist friends. There’s also a framed collection of newspaper clippings featuring him or his accomplishments. He likes velvet upholstery, imported rugs, and silk sheets and curtains.
Emery is more concerned with functionality than decoration. Their wife handles most of the decor for their London home, though they have a little study where they have a couple shelves to display their collection of ships-in-bottles and some of their hunting trophies mounted on the wall. The Vake head is positioned so that it is directly above their head when they’re sitting at the desk, staring at anyone sitting across from them. In their shipboard cabin, they have maps and notes tacked up all over the walls, weapons and supplies half-in and half-out of a big sea chest, and extra blankets draped on the bed.
Robin doesn’t like to put too much stuff up on the walls, just in case they need to leave in a hurry. They keep a handful of meaningful notes, photos, and letters in a leather wrap under their pillow. If they put up anything, it’s drawings they get from the urchins they sometimes spend time with. If glow-in-the-dark stars existed in flondon, though, they’d put those on the ceiling above their bed. When choosing stuff like furniture, they like sturdy pieces with soft fabrics and warm colors.
Lapsang Souchong: If your OC was a scented candle, what would they smell like?
Ambrose: black currant, absinthe, vanilla
Emery: sea breeze, leather, musk
Robin: spiced honey, cinnamon, smoky amber
Henry: teakwood, petrichor, lavender
Liam: bergamot, sandalwood, moss
Charlie: caramel, coffee, sweet tobacco
Rooibos: What kind of lighting does your OC prefer? Dim, bright, moody, secret fourth thing?
Ambrose enjoys some nice mood lighting- strategically placed candles, tinted lampshades, lightweight cloth tossed over a lamp. He’ll keep it bright enough to see easily when he’s working/writing/reading, though. He’d love those color changing lights or, like, lava lamps.
Emery doesn’t have strong lighting preferences, they’ll make do with whatever the environment provides. Left to their own devices, they keep it moderately bright.
Robin definitely prefers dimmer light or even darkness. They feel uncomfortable and exposed when it’s too bright. Parabola is an exception though, they actually love the glow of the cosmogone sun.

Review: K-pop quintet Tomorrow X Together makes up for lost time at triumphant S.F. show
Tumblr media
The sustained hero’s welcome that K-pop group Tomorrow X Together received Thursday, July 21, at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium when they entered the stage after three years away felt like a long-awaited airport lobby group hug.
The sold-out show served as a joyful give-and-take — from their MOA (“Moments of Alwaysness”) fan base to TXT for providing inspiration and solace during tough times, and from TXT to MOA for rocking with the group during a period of pandemic-related isolation.
Group member Yeonjun summed it up when addressing the crowd: “Physical distance is not a drawback. MOAs and Tomorrow X Together are always together.”
The South Korean quintet has had to live up to outsized expectations. In 2019, TXT was the second boy band to debut for its Big Hit (now HYBE) management company — the first being BTS. On the strength of its debut single “Crown,” and follow-up “9 and Three Quarters (Run Away),” the five-member unit (Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai) was an instant hit, exceeding and exploding expectations. With catchy songs, powerful choreography, and youthful energy, it was seemingly following a path to superstardom freshly snow-plowed by its Big Hit big brothers.
Then COVID struck.
The band members’ schedules and lives rearranged, they regrouped and released increasingly savvy, challenging music that distanced them from their fresh-faced rookie era. Subsequent releases still held moments of joy but also reflected frustrations and confusion of adolescence and an uncertain world. With tours canceled, the music served as comforting ravens to their fan base in the form of danceable, thinkable pop like “Can’t You See Me?” and “We Lost the Summer.”
Tumblr media
Dressed in pink prom suits with sew-on bleeding-heart patches, their opening five-song set peeled back the layers of their career: the opening emo-pop anthem “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You),” the kaleidoscopic pop of “Magic” and “Wishlist,” the giddy debut-era “Blue Orangeade” and matured Britpop glide of “Ghosting.” It was an energizing TXT trail mix — more savory than sugary, still looking like a snack.
The show — the sixth U.S. stop on its Act: Lovesick tour — reinforced how TXT has evolved over three years. For nearly three hours, the group morphed in and out of personas. They changed outfits like high schoolers late for drama class — from suits to sailor tops to full rock ‘n’ roll regalia, even monster-like gauze-wrap tops. But no matter how grown or edgy they looked, they still felt like sweet kids at heart.
The LED backdrop screens reflected each mood — an icy church on a deserted planet (Krypton?), a castle, an amusement park in the clouds, an outdoor garden lit up with decorative lights, and a forbidden forest. Some of the screens were front stage left and right and must have partially blocked the view for those sitting on the sides. Fortunately, the guys took time to make their way to the far ends of the stage, even going so far as to meander into the audience and upper deck to allow more personal interaction as a phalanx of security cleared the path.

Over the evening, they showed their prowess for maximalist pop and nuanced ballads. The loudest roar of the night came with the familiar opening keyboard stab of their effervescent debut single “Crown,” which was performed flawlessly. “Magic” and “Blue Hour” were dazzling Bruno Mars-level jollies. “Trust Fund Baby” and “Anti-Romantic” highlighted their balladry, especially Taehyun who exerted as much emotion and energy singing as he did dancing.
On the flip, darkness descended during “Maze in the Mirror,” “Eternally,” and “Can’t You See Me” — a moody trifecta delving into isolation. Similarly, Yeonjun owned “Frost” and “New Rules” with an impressive spotlight dance solo and sinister facial expressions.
Tumblr media
Rock elements came into play early and often. But if TXT is really about that rock ‘n’ roll life — and from the Nirvana and AC/DC T-shirts they were wearing during part of the show, I think so — then they should lean into it. “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You),” “Good Boy Gone Bad,” and “LO$ER=LOVER” are guitar-based alt-pop songs, and “Can’t You See Me” was remixed with metal elements, so why not have an actual guitarist or band playing on tour? Their show was performed entirely with an instrumental backing track. The prop mike stands during “LO$ER=LOVER” were used to strike rock star poses, but felt more redundant than epic with their headset mics.
Rock star tropes aside, the evening solidified the feeling that TXT is ready for Chase Center or Oakland Arena levels. Perhaps HYBE wants to ensure that TXT doesn’t skip any steps in their development — something that Olivia Rodrigo insisted on her “SOUR” tour that played Bill Graham Civic earlier in May. The trade-off of not having a full stadium show with an enlarged scale and scope is that TXT’s long-awaited first Northern California concert carried an intimacy a cavernous arena couldn’t provide.
The encore reaffirmed this thought. Emerging in white tour t-shirts and denim overalls with one hook loose, New Jack Swing-style, they waded through the crowd, even reaching the upper balcony, to vibe with fans during an ecstatic “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go.” It was a gesture that reflected gratitude and solidified the intense bond between TXT and MOA. They’ll get to stadiums together soon. As the song goes, tomorrow is always a day away.

Listen, I loooooooovvvvveeeeee the moody maximalist/chic goth/whimsigoth decor style but as someone who does their homework in their room wHY is every space in those videos so DARK, those people have rooms that are covered in dark paint and heavy, thick curtains and then only have ONE moody yellow lamp for the whole room, like do you not need to be able to read things in your house???? 😭

I have a few! Rosemary by Deftones, Mary on a Cross by Ghost, and Cariño by The Maria's.
I'm actually so smart! I've made Dean's List multiple times (which is so fucking hard in a quarter system), I'm in the senior honor's program for my major, and im generally just very smart! A smart cookie <3 egg head <3
Yes! And I think we should let them be <3
My big gray cardigan! And my black leather jacket, my black velvet mini, my collection of band tees, etc.
Simply I wish I were less anxious. Like I worry about anything and everything 24/7 and it is just as brutal as it sounds.
Book would be Frankenstein by Mary Shelley or Babel by R.F. Kuang. The album would be Hozier (extended) by Hozier because that is my Man. Show would probably be Gilmore Girls!
Mercury, purely because I'm a Virgo
Yes!! I think the chances of us being alone are so astronomically small, there has to be something else out there, right?
Donate pretty much all of it to causes bigger than myself. Keep enough to pay off my families debts and mortgages, and to get myself a small house.
Author! I wanna work in publishing <3
My original favorite games were Pokemon Ruby and Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life! In general im a big Pokemon fan <3
Ahhh I have a few? Casey McQuiston, Anna-Marie McLemore, R.F. Kuang, John Steinbeck!
I'm not a big poetry person, but (and this is gonna sound so pretentious) probably Paradise Lost? Does it count? It's an epic poem and I say it counts <3
Female Hyenas have pseudo-penises and female ducks vagina's have dead ends (I took a class on sex in nature)
Cold brew! or a matcha latte, or black tea lemonade. but usually cold brew <3 the Starbucks pumpkin cold brew is my baby and I miss it
Yes! I do cleanser, toner, serum, essence, moisturizer, and (if it's morning) sunscreen!
hmmmm I really like Mulan!
from 'best' to worst: freezing, drowning, burning
the number 7. weird.
originally I wanted moonywyrm but it was taken, so I went with moodywyrm bc I am a very moody pouty person and also wyrms are a type of dragon!! and I love fantasy, so it just kinda stuck? I associate it with writing (obvs) but also wine grapes?? that one always stuck.
I have a few!! I have a big green yeti bottle, a yeti rambler, and my sister just gave me one of the smaller Stanley sippy cups and I use them all for different purposes <3 but that green yeti really puts in work man, I love it.
ahhh I aim for moody maximalist? the big inspirations are like ,,, the house from practical magic, howl's bedroom in Howl's Moving Castle, and general spooky halloween witch vibes? but also old library dark academia? if that makes sense
