yourusername bo, you've done so incredible these past months. so much passion went into writing this song and performing it and you gave so much love to everyone involved, and to those who weren't. the dedication I have seen from you was simply incredible. and my god, the performance you put on! I fall in love over and over and over again. You've been such a character around the arena, just by being your handsome charismatic self, and it has been so beautiful to see you build all these incredible connections through your love for music. I'm so incredibly proud of you and to be with you, words can't explain (I tried my best). I can't believe I get the same commitment from you that you gave this, because I've never seen anyone as involved, committed and dedicated as you. I love you, I'm proud of you and I really, really treasure you. tagged bojan_cvjeticanin

message in a bottle
a/n: sadness, anger, breakups; and words, lots of it. this was inspired by a couple of new songs i've heard, and you can find them in a playlist i linked below! as usual... comments and love are much appreciated <3
in which singer!y/n leaves five messages on her new album for her ex-boyfriend, charles leclerc.
masterlist here! | playlist here
Tumblr media
"mate! did you see?" pierre opened the door to his best friend's apartment, eyes glued to the screen as he set the borrowed clothing items down.
charles looked up from the piano score to him, "see what?"
"razzo's new album, she just put it out last week." charles stared blankly at pierre. he hadn't heard your nickname on such a long time, it almost didn't register to his brain. but of course, how could the universe let him forget about you?
his razzo. his little sky rocket. the nickname you'd gotten from his grandma the first time you visited monaco. and it stuck ever since then.
"do you want to listen to it?" pierre asked.
charles felt like a deer caught in headlights. because he in fact, did really want to listen to the sound of your voice again, but will he ever admit to it?
"no- no, no. there isn't a need to."
"are you sure?" pierre asked again. charles nodded, distracting himself by arranging the score sheet that sat perfectly on the piano.
"okay, i'm just dropping these off. gotta go."
the door closes, and charles takes out his phone immediately, typing your name into the search bar on instagram. of course, you pop up almost instantly, and charles doesn't hesitate before clicking on your name.
his heart flutters when he sees the first picture on your feed. a picture of you smiling from ear to ear, champagne in your hand - classic album release picture;
thereal_y/n: more than a million streams in two days. you guys are unreal!
he reads the congratulatory messages in the comments, scrolling through all your mutual friends until he stops by one that catches his eye.
fans_ofy/n: tell me that cover isn't of monaco?
there's a flurry of other comments following it, and charles couldn't help but to continue scrolling through.
then he sees it in the next post.
the title of the EP - message in a bottle. it was in your handwriting, covering the center of a picture which made charles gasp. that picture. the one he was all too familiar with. the one you took using your film camera in the summer of 2019 - the sunset in monaco, with charles back view being the focal point of it all.
his heart nearly plummets to the ground.
this is why pierre asked if he wanted to listen.
now charles couldn't help but to click on the link in your bio, which led straight to the album on spotify. twenty tracks. ten of which were your voice notes.
he connects his phone to the bluetooth speakers, and pressed play.
go the distance -
"ahhh the opening of an ep. it has to be a banger, right?" you chuckle, "i wrote this a couple of years back when i was in a long distance relationship. It was tough, the both of us having to travel the world for our jobs, we hardly got to see each other."
charles had to hit pause, the sound of your voice too shocking to his system. he covers his mouth with his hand. you sounded so soft, so gentle, like the calm in the absolute chaos of the world. he pressed play.
"and even if we did, it was usually only for a couple of days. it was rough, being so far from the one you loved, but i knew that deep down it was always worth to hold on, because we were so good, and we had the chance of going the distance."
it goes silent for two seconds, before jumping to the tune he knew all too well.
deep down i know, we'll go the distance. charles knew every word to that song. the familiar melody echoing through his house all those years before. hell, he had that song even before it was put together like this. the raw vocals, the squeaking of guitar chords was all he could remember. the way you both slow danced in the kitchen to the stripped down version of it.
he knew the meaning behind every word, the story each line held. it felt like a cruel trip down memory lane, the silhouettes of you and him now floating around the apartment you once shared with him. it was your song with him - yknow the one that every couple has? yeah, this was it.
it wasn't long before the three minutes and forty seconds are up, and the song ends, allowing your voice to come through the speakers again.
heart won't let me -
"now this one," you sigh, "it's a complete switch of moods, a switch in timeline. go the distance was very much at the start of a relationship, when you think everything would work; but then comes heart won't let me, which shows how things don't work. how you're constantly arguing about the same things over and over again. how you struggle to work things out with your partner and you should probably leave but your heart doesn't allow you to."
charles heart squeezes at your words. it went back to you and him, standing in this very apartment, arguing about something he didn't remember -
"why the fuck are we doing this, charles?" you stand, back pressed against the counter top, your arms folded in front of you.
charles rubs his face with his hand, "i don't know! you're the one making a big fuss out of it."
"yeah because you promised to come to the show, charles! my parents, friends, they were all there, excited to see you again-"
"i had a bad race, y/n. forgive me if i didn't want to entertain your people." he said sarcastically.
"then maybe i should leave." you mutter. you grab your keys, one hand on the door, but charles grabs your arm, pulling you towards him. he closes the gap between the two of you, resting his head on top of yours, whispering softly,
"no, don't go."
tears now ran down his face, and he wipes them with the back of his hand. everytime i try, everytime i try to leave, my heart won't let me.
"fuck me," he pauses the song, grabbing a beer from the fridge that he shouldn't be drinking. he scrolls through the tracks, reading each one of the titles. but it doesn't give him much hints, or any form of preempt for his heart.
the next song plays.
what a time -
"what a time - this one has got to be my favourite. it literally came about with one chord and one phrase from me. ahaha, we were in the studio pretty soon after my breakup, and mikey just looked at me, asking why i looked so grim. he was playing a chord over and over again and i told him about my breakup, about everything."
"fuck." charles mutters, taking another swig from the bottle. he didn't know if he could take it. not hearing your voice for six months straight, and he's now listened to it for ten minutes.
"but yeah, this is about a night i had with someone. we were in belgium, it was literally in the middle of the night-" you laugh breathlessly, "we sat in a park and talked for hours upon hours about our future. and when i look back at it now i just think - what a time, yknow?"
"mmm, and i thought it would be good to have a male perspective of things; because breakups or relationships, they always involve two people, and i wanted to hear the other side, his side of things. that's how niall came into the picture. we wrote this, pretty much in twenty minutes? now i'm just rambling, haha- hope you guys like this one as much as i do."
charles holds on to the neck of the beer bottle so tightly that his knuckles turn white. i admit that i think about it sometimes. your voice start to turn into white noise.
you both sat on a park bench at 2AM in the morning, just after the belgium gp. charles head was in your lap, your hand massaging his scalp. the air was cool, and quiet; the perfect setting for the both of you.
"how many kids should we have?" charles asked.
"i want two, at least."
"a boy and a girl?" you nod.
"where should we raise them?"
"monaco." you stated simply. he sat up to face you, "not in the states? or france - where your parents are?"
"oh never in the states. i live there because of my job, and besides, france is literally a stones throw away from monaco- we can decide when the time comes, love." you smile, cuddling into his arms.
irrational anger bubbles in his chest - who was this niall? and who the fuck is he to give his perspective on a breakup that he wasn't even involved in? what a lie, what a lie. charles disconnected his phone from the speakers and put in his airpods.
he needed to get out of here before he drowned in painful memories.
when you lose someone -
the elevator ride down seemed to last a lot longer than he remembered.
"more sad ballads...i probably should put a warning on this thing."
"this is about losing someone that you love. well to be honest, it was meant for my grandma, the light of my life that i lost last year. but in between then and the million things happening, the song got morphed into losing the love of your life. and yeah- i, i think it speaks for itself."
your voice echoes in his brain now, fogging his mind. and he doesn't realise that pierre, his every loving best friend, was waiting downstairs. charles stops right in front of him, and the dejected look on his face tells pierre everything he needed to know.
"you listened to it?" pierre was stating the obvious. he knew charles would listen to it. he knew he didn't have the control to stop himself. he knew he still cared.
"i'm left with the last two." charles tells him.
"give me the keys."
"you're not driving my-"
"then we'll take my car," pierre readily unlocks the honda. charles didn't protest, climbing into the passengers seat.
he connects his phone to the speakers in the car, and the song plays while pierre drives into the night. It feels like a Ferrari racing. pierre hears the lyric, his eyes darting to his friend who's expression falters just slightly. he wants to press the radio button, but charles swats his hand away.
"maybe this was a bad idea." pierre mutters.
charles just looks out of the window, the skyline of monaco passing him, "just drive, please."
he had to listen to it all, he had to know how much he hurt you.
"maybe we should break up."
"excuse me?"
you had been arguing over the last ten minutes, over something so minuscule it was ridiculous. charles had had a bad race weekend, and you, well you had just lost your grandmother. the both of you in the worst frame of mind possible.
but you hadn't expected him to say those words.
"maybe i should leave." charles repeats. you frown, trying to close the gap between the both of you but he moves away. you knew the words were no longer an empty threat. they held weight; very heavy, heavy weight.
"why are you doing this, charles?"
"its for your sake, y/n." he couldn't even look you in the eye when he spoke.
"bullshit. don't put this on me when you stopped fighting for us. you stopped loving me."
"i love you, razzo."
"then why now? why after the funeral? why at my lowest, at my breaking point did you decide it was right to break up with me?!" you screamed so loud, charles was afraid the entire family was going to barge into the room.
"because i can't do this anymore, mon ange. but i promise-" he reaches to grab your hand, but you pull away quickly.
"get the fuck out of my sight."
charles takes a huge inhale, and pierre is at the verge of muting the radio. when you lose somebody you love. the hardest thing i've ever had to learn.
"charles-"
"pierre, please. just let me listen." but pierre hits the pause button on the speakers, stopping at a red light. he turns to his best friend.
"i have to tell you something." charles nods slowly, looking into his friend's eyes,
"she's in monaco."
time freezes for him. pierre doesn't have a choice but to turn back to the steering wheel and keep driving when the light changes. he sat in silence, unable to play the last voice note, the last song. the car pulls to a stop at a building, one that charles knew all too well.
and they let the next track play.
come back home
"come back home," you sigh, "if you haven’t noticed, i wrote this for him." you pause, "this entire EP, from start to finish was a message for him. for us. i don't know. i thought alot about it, before i released this EP. i thought about the consequences of my actions and words. but the more i let these songs sit with me in a closet, the worse i felt. so i decided to release this, as a message in a bottle. you know? like the ones that you find at the beach? i don't know if it only happens in movies but yeah. this is for the both of us, for him, if he ever listens - to come back home."
from the outside, it wasn't clear who he was, because god knows you had your share of exes. but charles knew.
pretending that we don't care, but tension cuts the air. you never stopped caring. in fact, you cared more than ever. getting regular updates from the rest of the drivers on the grid about charles. watching every race, every interview, just to get a glimpse of him.
"why don't you ask him yourself, razzo?"
"we're not together anymore, pierre." you paced around your apartment in LA, the 2021 abu dhabi gp podium ceremony playing in the background.
"but you obviously still care." pierre sighs.
"i never stopped caring, pierre. charles was the one that left, remember?"
charles finally had the courage to speak, "she's up there?"
"she's with daniel and lando. but they're on their way back, if you want to see her."
he nods. hell, what do I know where you and I go? damn it, I hope you come back home.
both of them had gotten out of the car, resting on its hood in a comfortable silence until they hear a commotion.
they turn their attention to the noise, and there you stood, in all your glory. laughing at something the boys had said, arms linked with the both of them as you strut down the pavement. lando nudged you to the direction of the two drivers.
your breath is caught in your throat.
charles' heart races.
daniel and lando take the hint, unlooping their arms from yours, bidding you goodbye. charles had to admit that you looked amazing - dress hugging your curves in all the right ways, your hair cut till your shoulders, the way it framed your face so well. oh, how he missed you.
pierre pushes him forward, and they make their way towards you; giving small waves to the mclaren drivers as they leave.
"hi razzo," pierre hugs you, "hi pierre."
he pats you on the shoulder, then charles, and they exchange something in french before he leaves.
leaving you alone, with him.
you laugh nervously, "guess you listened?"
"razzo-"
"charles-"
"ladies first," charles chuckled. it felt too real.
"would you like to come up? for a coffee?" you gestured to the lobby of your apartment, "i really just want to get these heels off."
charles nodded, following you up to your home. he operates on autopilot, taking off his shoes, then kneeling on the ground to help with the straps of your heels-
"charles..." you breathe out, a pained expression on your face. then he panics. he pulls his hand away from your ankles, standing up quickly. you hurry to unbuckle the straps on your own, padding towards the kitchen.
"water, coffee, tea or beer?" you peek from behind from the fridge door.
"water." charles replies. you hand him a bottle, settling for a beer for yourself. it was awkward, standing in an apartment with your ex, after releasing an entire album for him- to him.
"razzo. i- i je suis désolé. i'm sorry." charles sighs, sinking his forehead into his hands. you squeeze his forearm, a sad look on your face.
"je ne trouve pas les mots" i can't find the words. he tells you.
"then use your actions."
it almost felt like a taunt, as if you were mocking him. but charles took his shot, leaning forward and kissing you softly. something that he had been yearning to do the day you packed up your bags and left. and you let him, gave him permission to continue. his hand cupped your face softly, and he could taste the same strawberry chapstick on your lips.
he pulls away first, forehead still pressed against yours.
"pas besoin de s'excuser," no need to be sorry, you finally tell him. you caress his cheek with your thumb, "i'm just glad you got the message."

This is completely unprompted but here are my top 5 Choices books:
1. Endless Summer:
I mean, this is just an absolute classic, I love mystery, I love fantasy, and every ending was so heart wrenching in its own way. And your choice actually matters (ironic that this is so rare for a book called Choices, but oh well) I never recovered from when I read this for the first time, unmatched.
2. Blades:
You don’t even know how much I went back and forth between these two for the number one spot. Honestly they’re both my favorite. The writing, the character, the plot, the music, the art, Blades has it all. I remember playing the final chapter with goosebumps all over my body. I’m a DnD player, what can I say.
3. Crimes of Passion:
Banger, banger, banger. Just so good, the romance between Trystan and the MC was amazing yet it didn’t feel like it was overtaking the plot at any point, I loved their dynamic and I love the intricacy of the overall mystery. Just the right amount of dark and lighthearted, I will never get tired of rereading this book.
4. The Elementalists:
I know there are valid criticisms of this book out there, but it’s just so fun. I love the worldbuilding, I love the magic system, I love how balanced the emphasis between romance and platonic relationships is. Also, academic rivals to friends/lovers, you can’t go wrong with that. And you get to play a super cool magic jock!!
5. Bloodbound:
Okay, so I will admit I didn’t really like the first book, but the second and third more than makes up for it. MC is just such a badass and the ANGST, the angst is god-tier in Bloodbound.
Honorable mentions:
A Courtesan of Rome (Every single romance route HIT in ACOR except Cassius)
Desire and Decorum (I’m a Jane Austen fan, what can I say)
Ride or Die (Cars. That’s it. Cars)
The Heist: Monaco (Sonia my love <333)

For anyone that wants some race recommendations for FE, here are my top 3 race recommendations (as a JEV and chaos fan) from every season. (I am also biased for many other drivers which you will see.)
Season 1
Of course you have to watch the first race (Beijing). First race of the series, Nick Heidfeld flip (literally.) Just the opportunity to actually watch the first race of a racing series shouldn't be passed up.
Next, is Buenos Aires because watching Antonio (Da Costa) win that race in that car was like a fever dream. Actually that was the moment where you realised that there was so much possibly for many drivers in this series.
And lastly is the first London race with Sam's (Bird) home win and another JEV podium. To watch a driver win a home race is always special.
Season 2
Mexico because Jérôme won (outliner wins.)
London finale (both race definitely.) The Buemi/DiGrassi rivalry was incredible the entire season but the double header? Wow.
Season 3
Omg Berlin. I loved Felix (Rosenqvist) when he was at FE and that Mahindra area was just so beautiful.
Montreal. When JEV finally won it was like a long time coming and the start of an era.
The first New York race. I am a Sam fan and that entire double header was just beautiful. Truly a great track.
Season 4
Santiago!!! Omg the Jeandré race. The records that were set here, the start of JEV's streak, everything about this race. This is iconic.
Mexico! Daniel (Abt) finally won a race and it was great. Also that atmosphere at the track could not be beaten.
The last one is though but for me as a fan it would have the be the last race when JEV fully won the championship. But the second Hong Kong race or Berlin deserve just as much attention.
Season 5
Marrakesh! Jérôme and Mahindra had everyone cheering for them that race. Literally such a beautiful heartwarming win.
Listen I am critical about rain races but I just can't not talk about Paris. That podium had my heart. And as the first genuine rain race you have to watch it.
Again, there are so many great third picks here. Rome (nearly the Lotterer win) could be it or Santiago? Or Bern?
Season 6
Diryah (the second race.) I miss Alex (Sims) soo much.
The third Berlin race. This is complelty biased because I loved all the drivers on that podium and we had a driver win at his home race. Listen, that Berlin 6 race final was cursed but it was also fun.
I would add Marrakesh just to escape the Berlin hell. But again, I also think there are so many great other races like Santiago with Max (Günthers) first win.
Season 7
Again biased pick but the first Rome race! A JEV win with a chaotic race.
The second London race! Alex Lynn! The man, the myth, the legend.
I would say the second Mexico race because I adore Edo.
This season is meh mostly because of the qualy format affecting racing negatively.
Still has bangers though.
Season 8
New York first race! Nick Cassidy finally winning a race. Also I love New York as a race so biased.
The second Rome race. Again Rome often offers great racing and I especially loved the second podium on that double header.
I think Monaco is great because you have both championship fighters on the podium in 1-2.
Season 9
Hyderabad! JEV win!
Cape Town! What a wonderful first race we had there.
Monaco has to be here because you had all three championship fighters on the podium (also I adore Nick Cassidy and think he should have won that championship because I am petty like that. )
Bottom line is there are so many great races in FE and every single one is worth watching because of the fun and unpredictability. Add to that the clear lack of one front runner or even a true top of the grid and you have potential for genuine great racing.
Please if you have the time watch all the races for yourself because every single one (even the ones I dislike) deserve your attention.

F1 TRACKS: Swedish House Mafia provide the tunes for this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix
There’s always a party atmosphere when Formula 1 comes to Monaco – and this weekend, we’ve got Swedish House Mafia providing the tunes as part of our F1 Tracks series. Opting for a range of certified bangers – as you’d expect – let the Scandinavian house music supergroup soundtrack you through the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. Click here to listen to their exclusive playlist – and read on for our Q&A with the group. What's the best thing about F1? The most exciting thing about F1 is what it actually takes to be able to do it. From the manufacturing of the car to the pressure on the drivers, everybody involved has to bring their A-game all the time. It’s also so exciting to see teams and drivers overcome obstacles and succeed; there’s a lot of emotions in that. Any similarities between the buzz of F1 and the buzz of live music? Yes! When a driver is facing a challenge and pushes himself over the top to succeed, it feels quite similar to us musicians working on a new song or a live show. The feeling we get after a successful show is maybe a bit similar to a driver or a team after a successful race. Favourite driver? Impossible to choose – they are all superhumans at the top of their craft! Favourite team? They are all amazing, but right now it's very exciting to witness Ferrari’s comeback. Favourite F1 circuit? Interlagos – so many overtakes happening there, it's crazy. If you could pick one of your songs to be the new theme tune for F1, which would it be and why? Don’t Go Mad – it has the intensity of Formula 1. What are your favourite memories from following Formula 1? When George Russell replaced Lewis Hamilton for one race [at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix] and pretty much won that race twice. Which F1 driver do you think would make the best music artist and why? Probably Lewis Hamilton since he seems very into it and has already dabbled in music. Tell us about your new music The idea of making art is self-expression, regardless of the medium. For us it was important to release all of the inspiration, experiences, all the discoveries, struggles and achievements into something that will last much longer than a body of work. Paradise Again is more than an album – it’s three lives united into one piece of our legacy. This is our world and this is how our world sounds. via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

Choices Standalone Books: Did it need a sequel?
Most Wanted: Yes. Definitely. With Hayley Tull’s murder at the end of the book, they left a lot of questions unanswered that could have been addressed and expanded on in a second book. Hell, maybe even a third, if they did it right.
The Haunting of Braidwood Manor: No. It was short and sweet, and there wasn’t anything else that needed to be resolved in the book.
Hero: Oh god yes. In the interest of time, all I’ll say is that there were so many unanswered questions and so many different directions they could go with this series.
Home for the Holidays: No. Again, it got the conclusion it needed. Also, why the hell would there need to be a sequel for a holiday special?
Veil of Secrets: Definitely not. As I’ve mentioned, I’m still very confused as to why people think it needed a sequel. The plot wrapped up nicely and all the characters got conclusions fitting to their story arcs. Believe me, there did not need to be a second book for this.
A Courtesan of Rome: Also no. The end goal was to kill Caesar, and the whole book’s plot built up to that. It ended quite nicely imo.
The Heist Monaco: ...Actually, this really could go either way. Depending on your ending, it’s implied you, Eris, and Rye are all ready to go on one last job, or you’re down for the count. I think the book resolved itself really nicely in that we achieved the goal of stealing the Crown Jewels and ruining Ansel, but at the same time, there was a lot of wiggle room for more heist books.
Across the Void: No. The book had so, so, SO much potential. The art and music tracks were amazing. They really bungled the storyline though, especially since most info regarding what the fuck was going on was locked behind paywalls. If PB had done this book better, they absolutely could’ve made a banger series out of it. But they didn’t, and the book was a major flop, and a sequel couldn’t have salvaged it.
Ride or Die: No, and I’m not just saying that because I despised the book. It would’ve been incredibly unrealistic for the MC to meet up with the crew again considering how things left off. It seemed to me that her affiliation with the crew was a phase where she needed thrill in her life, and having filled that craving, she was perfectly content to move on and go to Langston like she always dreamed.
Passport to Romance: Absolutely not. They could have made a sequel. But this book didn’t need a sequel. Throughout its air dates and chapter releases, this book got panned all around. It was, as many phrased it, “aggressively mediocre”. Making a sequel for this book would’ve been an incredible waste of resources, especially with how unpopular the first book was.
Wishful Thinking: Possibly. The book was mediocre, but many other fans and I were pleasantly surprised at how decent it actually was when it picked up. They could have done a hell of a lot more with the mind-reading, though. I mean, look how far some of these other books have gone in their plots. You literally save the president in PM. I think a sequel could’ve really put the main character’s mind-reading to use.
Nightbound: Yes. This book had a ton of potential. Part of the reason it flopped was because they focused on world-building just a little too much and left the plot pretty lacking in comparison. Had there been a sequel, though, the world-building would have already laid a good foundation as long as PB didn’t fuck up the plot.
Platinum: Kind of tough, but I’d have to say no. The main character was world-famous by the end of the book. Where else could you go from the top in a way that wouldn’t be underwhelming or disappointing?
Sunkissed: No. It was really Hallmark-y, and making a sequel would be really silly.
Bachelorette Party: I’m on the fence for this one. I originally thought they could do a bachelorette party for each of the main characters in a different book, but when the book ended the way it did, I couldn’t see how it would work.
Save the Date: A resounding no. If they kept going the way they did, any sequels would just be copy pastes of book one’s tired wedding planning plot formula.
The Royal Masquerade: I’m on the fence here, leaning more towards no. The way it ended made it basically impossible to set up for a decent sequel since Fabian became king (and you determinantly married him) and the epilogue explains what happened to all the other characters.
Distant Shores: Hmm...yeah, why not I guess? The book was pretty mediocre in my opinion, but the ending set up a possibility of working with Robert to get back to the past that I really liked. They could’ve gone a lot of different directions here.
Witness: I don’t even need to explain why this one doesn’t need a sequel.
Hot Couture: No. A sequel would’ve definitely just become a recycled plot formula.
Rising Tides: No. The book was handled really poorly throughout and the ending was sloppy. Any sequels spawned from this would inevitably suffer.
My Two First Loves: NO. It lasted 100 chapters and got to a semi-satisfying conclusion of the main character settling in with her two first loves, her love interest and photography. And scene, all done here.
With Every Heartbeat: I think this one is fairly obvious that it’s a no. The book was amazing, but a sequel just wouldn’t make sense since Dakota inevitably passes away at the end. The conclusion was bittersweet but very well done.
Foreign Affairs: ...A hesitant no. The plot was at a snail’s pace and the book had so many problems. If this book had done well, they definitely could have made a sequel since there were a lot of possibilities. But if a first book does poorly, a sequel can’t honestly hope to salvage it since it has such a shitty foundation.

Lemme ask ya something real quick... Do you have the courage to ride with the devil?
Hoo-hoo, boy~! Revice already hitting us with the good shit!
I'll say this right now, I love this cast already. All great performances, all great characters.
The action's all consistently great, all the forms and attacks have great visual design. I love how every kid in the Igarashi fam's a badass. They also lean into Ikki's soccer player past by having him kick around big-ass rocks, it reminds me a lot of how Haruto/Wizard used to be a pro soccer player. ...I get a lot of Wizard vibes from Revice, actually. Forming a contract with a naughty inner demon to beat up an evil cult, the kicks, the extra catchy transformation jingles, he even has an axe! ...we got the Ouin Buster way earlier than we did the Wizardragon's Axcalibur, but hey!
Our homegirl Sakura putting in work! I don't expect her karate skills to be super relevant to the plot ("ladies" and "combat" usually aren't allowed to mix in Kamen Rider), but goddamn! First episode and she's already throwing down against the Deadmans! ...I'm foolishly hoping for the unlikely event that it lasts and she ends up being our Secondary Rider, but hey! I'm also a big fan of Daiji so far, he reminds me a lot of Akito from Ultraman Trigger. I wonder if we'll get a similar character arc?
The comedy's admittedly been very hit or miss so far though. Y'know Deadpool? Yeah, that's what I assume they're going for with Vice. I'd rather they play more into his viciousness and his sitcom/manzai dynamic with Ikki, now those are funny character traits. But at least we're not getting assaulted with fart jokes like in the Saber epilogue. ...yet.
Do you think Fenix runs into jurisdiction problems with AIMS? Is there some kind of inter-agency rivalry between Yaiba and Karizaki? Because MetsubouJinrai and the Deadmans seem to have very similar MOs of forcing out evil, and Yaiba and Karizaki don't seem like the kind of people who'd willingly be friendly with each other. I'd personally love to be Karizaki's secretary though, I love how his reaction to his bodyguard awakening another demon is basically "What did I tell you?"
Speaking of which, our antagonists this season all lookin' fresh. Going all in on the Mexican influence feels like a call back to how the Shocker Combatmen stuck with their iconic luchador designs after they introduced the Mexican branch of Shocker. You could argue that Olteca and Julio look a bit too silly, and you're probably not wrong, but it seems as though everyone's in agreement that Aguilera... hoo! It's weird how we haven't seen our new all-powerful queen of evil transform yet, buuuuuut I wouldn't be against the idea of a main villainess as our Big Bad Rider, wink wink nudge nudge. Perhaps she forms a direct contract with their god using a variant on the Revice Driver? They did steal the stamps from Fenix. I... don't really appreciate the name of their god though. Gifu? Do you think they get mad if the English speakers in the cult call him "Jifu?" I like how the Deadmans' contracts fold into origiami monsters, that's a clever effect.
I also love the idea that they're a cult situated in the middle of a night club and they drum up hype for demonic subjugation by handing out free hits of the Vistamps, that's perfect use of your set design. They probably even have an entire city to themselves the way MetsubouJinrai did, and in their case it's likely an unholy combination of Vegas, Kabuki-cho, Miami, Ibiza, and Monaco. I'd love to see Ikki and Vice fuck shit up on the dance floor with the eventual full version of liveDevil playing in the background. And to segue... Da-iCE, my dudes! Every time I listen to this theme, I love it more! It's decadent, it's powerful, it's loud, it's proud, it's bangin'! It's the kind of club banger that feels like it should be accompanied by big booty bad bitches, bourgeois booze, and back-of-the-bar brawling. I really appreciate this bold new direction; it kinda reminds me of Defspiral's Dive into the Mirror, the theme for the Japanese dub of Dragon Knight, which has a similar energy despite the difference in genre.
Looking forward to how the rest of Revice plays out. Alright, I'm done for today, bye.

Forever ‘til the end of time: An Anna x Bates + Eurovision Playlist
YouTube Playlist Here
Uniting my loves of Anna x Bates and the Eurovision Song Contest! I've got absolute bangers, cheesy bops, classic chansons, and heartfelt ballads. Every song is about your OTP if you try hard enough, but I tried to narrow it to the ones I feel fit the canon the most. They are in loose order of series; yes, there's a lot of weather related lyrics thanks to those S5-S6 press releases and interviews talking about storms, clouds, and finally the mist lifting. And of course, nods to the iconic dialogue.
The songs span the history of the contest. Also included are some songs from national finals and selections, as well as a few other songs by ESC artists (you might recognize some hitmakers!). I'm using YouTube over other services because it's the easiest way to make sure all songs will play for everyone and are available in general. (Some songs were included in older A/B mixes I had on 8tracks back in the day; this particular playlist has been one I've been building for years in various forms lol).

Hey I'm new in f1, and I got confused. why charles didn't do more laps in the final session? Is that a strategic part or was it because of car issues?
Hey! 💖
Sometimes it’s hard to tell exactly what’s going on (like today with Charles) because you’re getting chaotic coverage of like 20/15/10 different cars out on the track. But generally the amount of laps drivers do comes down to teams and their allocation of tyres. Since last year because of Covid all the teams get a set number of x, y, and z tyres. In 2019 you could still pick 13 total sets of tyres from the three available compound plus the set number of inters and wets. But now all teams get the same and it’s different from race to race.
A similar thing happened to Charles on this exact track during the Sakhir weekend qualy. He put in a banger of a lap - just one - and ended up P4. Then he got out of the car and sat out the rest of the session because Ferrari didn’t have a fresh set of tyres to send him out on (I believe? Something like that) but no one managed to beat his time so one lap was enough to secure that P4. Other times teams will hold off on sending drivers out when there’s a lot of traffic out on track (Monza is notorious for this, especially the 2019 qualy, it was a complete mess.) So it can be a bit of a strategic gamble. Sometimes it pays off (like today), other times it doesn’t - Charles was pissed during qualy in Monaco 2019 when Ferrari didn’t send him out again before the end of the session in order to save tyres; others improved during their subsequent runs and he slipped down the timesheet as a result, getting knocked out in Q1 - by his teammate, no less. He was visibly angry and asked one of Ferrari’s engineers “Why didn’t we go out again?”
Other times, you’re right, some mechanical issue can crop up and hinder the driver’s run as the mechanics attempt to repair it. But luckily wasn’t the case for Charles today, so I’m guessing it was down to the tyres. It’s always nerve-wracking to watch, though! 😳
Hope that helps! And welcome to the fandom! 🥰

Three Minutes to Eternity: My ESC 250 (#190-181)
#190: Kaliopi -- Crno i Belo (North Macedonia 2012)
“Отвори душа признај ми, Што сме сега јас и ти, Пола мое во тебе, А пола твое спие во мене,”
“Open your soul and admit to me, What we are now, you and me Half of me is in you And half of you is sleeping in me”
Kaliopi was supposed to be (North) Macedonia's first entrant in the 1996 with the song Samo Ti, but an audio-only pre-qualifying round ended up preventing her from doing so. Whereas Samo ti is a calming, R&B influenced song, Crno i belo is an alternative rock song which takes a number of twists.
Crno I Belo starts slowly, but it really picks up from the second verse onwards as it transforms into a rock song. There’s a sense of confrontation with the lyrics, which the music also tries to convey. And I don’t need to say much about Kaliopi’s vocals—a bit harsh, but awesome. And that scream is nothing but penetrating.
Personal ranking: 4th/42 Actual ranking: 13th/26 GF in Baku
#189: Måns Zelmerlöw - Heroes (Sweden 2015)
"Now go sing it like a hummingbird The greatest anthem ever heard"
I know there was a bit of flack of Sweden's most recent win, because they won primarily because of the jury (they were third in the televote). Compared to "Grand Amore", which comfortably won the televote but only gotten sixth with the juries, which was a pretty bad mismatch.
In addition, compared to the other fan-favorites of the class of 2015, Heroes is a more mainstream-sounding pop song, with influences from "Lovers from the Sun" and the highly produced Swedish-pop scene. But when I listen to it, it's very engaging and surprisingly danceable, with a great message of strength and togetherness. And the staging was quite slick and creative (with a bunch of influence on some of those from the following year)
So while Heroes is not my personal favorite of 2015, it's still a compelling and awesome pop song. Six years later, it's holds up fantastically.
Personal ranking: 7th/40 Actual ranking: 1st/27 GF in Vienna
#188: Elitsa Todorova & Stoyan Yankoulov -- Water (Bulgaria 2007)
"Море, Митра пее на реката Митре ле, ий… Митре ле"
"Lo, Mitra sings by the river Oh Mitra, eeh.. oh Mitra"
I have the strange impression that Bulgaria has a trance music scene we don't know of. From Elitsa and Stoyan's two appearances to the lyrics of Stanga being taken from a Bulgarian folk song, it's something that was not in focus in the rest of the world.
That said, Bulgaria's only qualifying song prior to 2016 is an experience to behold. While the lyrics are simply about Mitra meeting a lad riding a horse, the soundscape feels like you're in the surreal place yourself. You are in a rush against time, but you're also on a journey towards...somewhere.
Both the music and drumming really amplify the experience; seeing Elitsa and Stoyan drum together was a highlight for me. And while there are questions about Elitsa's vocals, including a point where she goes off-key, she still provides the necessary tone for this intriguing song.
Personal ranking: 4th/42 Actual ranking: 5th/24 GF in Helsinki
#187: Tose Proeski -- Life (North Macedonia 2004)
“Life is a book and you gotta read it Life is a story and you gotta tell it Life is a song and you gotta sing it You've got to know how to live it.”
For some curious reason, I prefer the English-version of this song to the Macedonian language one. Whereas this one, performed from Eurovision, focuses on the angst of existence and the importance of making the most of it, "Angel si ti" is an ode towards a lover who lines his streets with roses and even turns back time.
That's one of the things which work here that really shouldn’t. The mid-2000s sound, the lyrics, and the sheer angst of it. But for some reason, I really enjoy it. Tose (RIP) sings this really well, and it feels like a song out of a musical, in a scene where the protagonist cannot decide what they want to do with their life. It's awesome and I love this lots (and please, put this in a hypothetical Eurovision jukebox musical--there's so much plot potential!)
Personal ranking: 6th/36 Actual ranking: 14th/24 GF in Istanbul
#186: Lisa Andreas -- Stronger Every Minute (Cyprus 2004)
“My love grows stronger every minute And it won’t ever die You must believe I’ll always be there For you, all my life”
Greece and Cyprus are basically sisters in the contest--you can almost always expect them to give votes to each other considering the circumstances. However, their combined quality frequently varies, as well as results. 2004 was their best results year, though not necessarily their best in terms of songs (you'll get that later, towards the end)
At fifth place, Stronger Every Minute shared the best Cypriot entry ever with two other entries (one of which is #239, another coming soon) until 2018. This time, it comes in the form of a delicate love song, performed so tenderly and serenely by Lisa. Despite her looks making her look older than sixteen, she conveys a sense of innocence, helped by the glockenspiel and the acoustic guitar throughout.
I love how sincere she sings this “love letter”, as one blogger put it--I hope everyone can feel a love like this! A pure oasis in the flash and chaos of the 100% televote era.
Personal ranking: 5th/36 Actual ranking: =5th/24 GF (with Sweden) in Istanbul
#185: Paloma San Basilio -- La fiesta terminó (Spain 1985)
“La fiesta terminó Ya no hay más que niebla entre tú y yo ¿Para qué echar más leña arder Si el fuego se ha apagado ya?”
“The party’s over There’s only a fog between you and me Why throwing more wood to burn When the fire is already dull?"
Juan Carlos Calderon and Paloma San Basilio are really well known in their fields --the former is a noted songwriter who already wrote one of the biggest hits in Latin America, whereas the latter is a noted singer and theater actress who would win a Latin Grammy and play Evita.
Together, they have this really nice power ballad, albeit one with a bit of melancholy in it. The lyrics are the strong part of this piece, telling of a relationship that has come to an end using the party as a metaphor for it. It works very well, especially with Paloma's warm voice and the way she emotes the song through her hand gestures.
The resulting package is quite sad, yet very, very beautiful. Unfortunately, it didn't get the result it deserved (which maybe because of that backing vocalist picking at his nose...).
Personal ranking: 2nd/19 Actual ranking: 14th/19 in Gothenburg
#184: Sakis Rouvas -- Shake It (Greece 2004)
“I would trade my life for a night with you Driven by desire”
(Yes, this is already the third song from 2004 to appear in this section. haha. The first two that appeared here are fighting for my fifth, whereas the top four here is the exact same top four of that year.)
The first of the Greek Golden Era, we get Sakis Rouvas in all his glory. This was a hit when it was first released, and it at one point was the highest selling single of all-time in Greece. And as of 2021, it's still the highest-scoring Greek entry, despite them winning the following year.
While his regular discography doesn’t usually feature Greek elements, as he's better known for popularizing pop and rock influences in Greek music, I still think the bouzouki riffs do a good job here adding to this bop (the composer is Nikos Terzis--remember this name).
It's a dancefloor banger which I keep on repeat, and it seems that people across the continent have done so too! Especially those from Turkey. The performance is also quite fun, albeit with some...curious choreography (e.g. 1:42-1:46). That said, we also get some of Sakis' athleticism, thanks to him doing track when he was younger.
Personal ranking: 4th/36 Actual ranking: 3rd/24 GF in Istanbul
#183: Claude Lombard -- Quand tu Reviendras (Belgium 1968)
"Passent les semaines, se traînent les jours Et moi, j’attends ton retour En filant la laine dans mes beaux atours En bordant ma peine de doux fils d’amour"
"Weeks passing by, the days are lingering And I’m waiting for your return Spinning the wool in my beautiful finery Embroidering my pain in soft threads of love"
A couple of commenters compared to a Kate Bush song, and I think it comes down to Claude’s voice, which is very ethereal. However, Claude's voice has some depth, which, in comparison to Kate Bush's earlier work, is a bit more mature.
As for the song, it’s very folkloric but tragic, in which she yearns for the day her lover comes back. The use of strings helps in that it establishes a medieval ambience to it, but the overall feeling is still timeless. It’s almost as if one is caught into the story and wept along with her.
I especially love this because it stood out amongst the class of 1968--while most of the other songs has a happy-go-lucky vibe, Quand tu Reviendras goes in the opposite direction. Same with my runner-up.
Personal ranking: 1st/17 Actual ranking: =7th/17 (with Monaco and Yugoslavia) in London
“As God is my witness, I swear by my heart, That this woman knows, she belongs to you entirely...”
(The first few lyrics were from the first Maria Magdalena from Austria, haha. Just wanted to mess with you. :) )
The second Marija Magdalena is a beloved entry in the fandom, and for good reason! It hasn’t aged since 1999, which shone amongst the relatively dull field with its mix of ethnic and dance music. Lyrically, it focuses on a love that redeems the narrator, hence the imagery related to Marija Magdalena (yay, religious imagery and redemption!). I think it works efficiently, and Doris performs well on stage with her powerful vocals and diva-like presence. Arguably, it's argued that it was the best song of 1999.
The only problem I have is with the backing vocals on the instrumental. The delegation cheated, and that’s the end of it. I’m still wondering why people would put this as their favorite of 1999 otherwise; even with the new rule about allowing them on the track. It puts me on edge on what would've happened had they won.
Beautiful song, but cheaters don't prosper in my book.
Personal ranking: 3rd/23 Actual ranking: 4th/23 in Jerusalem
#181: Evelin Samuel & Camille - Diamond of Night (Estonia 1999)
“Diamond of night, burning so bright Guide me my silvery new sign”
The last Eurovision song of the twentieth century is filled with mystical imagery, atmospheric instrumentation, and a beautiful violin solo. The whole thing reminds me of a fairytale, with a cool soundscape, though sometimes I feel like something is lacking in it (especially because it resembles some entries from the 1996 contest; I was thinking of I evighet when writing this)
The lyrics are especially pertinent for Evelin Samuel (the singer), who tried to get to Eurovision throughout the entire 1990s. She was about to go as one half of the Estonian duo from 1996, when she suddenly got a tour in Japan, which was then canceled. She managed to become a backing vocalist in 1997, and finally got her chance here. Seeing her sing "now i can say it's my time" is very touching, even if her eyes seem to be bulging out!
In the end, it's a peaceful and serene song, with hope for the new millenium. However, considering what the first song of Eurovision 2000 would be, little did one know it won't always start on the right foot...

Prepping for the Cannonball Run: Sea to Shining Sea, Part Two
In the weeks leading up to the latest adventure in my clapped-out 1972 AMC Hornet Sportabout, a car that looks like it would be more at home in a junkyard than on a public highway, I was incredibly aware of what a terrible idea this trip might turn out to be. However, nothing ventured means nothing gained, and with the car’s history of being a reliable road tripper, I made the necessary clicks and calls to order a laundry list of parts to prepare the car despite the logical side of my brain screaming in protest.
The first thing to do before prepping for a road trip is to make a list. Pulling a page from the guys at Roadkill I used an old piece of cardboard for mine.
Completely discounting the mental fortitude it takes to do something this brazenly illegal all the way from New York to Los Angeles, the 2,800 some odd miles that make up the Cannonball is a daunting challenge simply on a logistical level. Charlie Safari, the eccentric organizer of the C2C Express charity rally, told me to aim for a conservative goal of a 40 hour transcontinental run. However, being a foolhardily optimistic individual, I decided that simply wasn’t challenging enough. After doing a whole lot of research as to what records existed that I might stand a chance of beating, I settled on the classic car record held by Arne Toman, Ed Bolian, and Forrest Sibley. They had made the run in an LS-swapped 1974 Dodge Monaco back in 2016 with a time of 34 hours and 17 minutes. This meant I needed to average around 83 mph overall (including stops) to beat their average—a considerable challenge—but something that seemed feasible with my car’s abilities as well as my own.
The interior of the car might not look like much, but the split bench that the Hornet came from the factory is more than comfortable making it ideal for long stints in the car.
Once I had a goal in mind, prepping the car for the task at hand became much more straight forward. I knew the relative capabilities of my car from the countless road trips I had done before, but had never had to plan for something of this magnitude. After all, it is just an old AMC with the original 258ci inline six and Torqueflite 904 three-speed automatic, not exactly a speed machine. Would the car survive at the nearly triple digit speeds I wanted to run? What issues would arise from pushing the car this hard? What could I do to help improve my chances of avoiding an encounter with police? What would be the best route to take? The list of questions grew ever longer as I sifted through the limited information of past Cannonball Runs available online. For some reason or another, those who had done it didn’t advertise their exploits very vocally, except for the king of the Cannonball Run himself, Ed Bolian. He holds the record for the fastest attempt of all time with a 28 hour and 50 minute run in October of 2013.
After deciding that I was going to make auxiliary fuel tanks my main strategy to better my time on a cross country run I ordered an assortment of fittings and hoses from Summit Racing to make it all work.
With a limited budget to work with, I couldn’t afford many of the fancy gadgets that I had read about in various online forums, so I opted for a series of modifications using my own common sense and a bit of intuition from others. The main piece of my plan was the fuel system. The Hornét’s six banger is not exactly powerful, so acceleration and top speed are mediocre at best, meaning that in order to travel great distances quickly, I was going to need to limit my stops as much as I practically could. Rather than messing with the factory fuel system, which had never given me a single problem, I decided to add auxiliary cells in the rear portion of the station wagon that would feed the factory tank using a transfer pump. After a few emails and calls to Summit Racing Equipment, twin 22 gallon fuel cells, a fuel pump, and a smattering of fittings and hoses to make it all work together were on the way. Some may think it’s a bad idea to have 44 gallons of fuel in the car with you on a high-speed road trip, and those people would be 100-percent correct, but my competitive nature bested my common sense here. After a bit of work to modify the rear of the car to accept the two what may as well be bombs, I had the cells installed and ready to be tested once the road trip started—because where’s the fun in testing something beforehand?
There wasn’t a lot of room in the back for the added fuel cells, but by removing the false floor and building a frame to support them they fit snuggly in the rear of the wagon.
Other than the fuel cells, my list of modifications was fairly minor. I replaced the cobbled-together side pipe with a proper, baffled side pipe that would keep my ears from bleeding at high speeds. I also added various charging ports underneath the dash of to keep the radar detector, GPS, phones, CB radio, and various other gadgets charged during the trip. I even devised a way of adding oil to the engine while driving by using a 12-volt oil transfer pump, a well-placed five quart jug, and some clever plumbing into the valve cover, because my engine burns a little oil with the piston rings being gapped for nitrous. Other than that, it was simply giving the car a good once over to make sure everything was in working order and packing what space was left in the rear with the necessary spare parts and a small collection of tools I might need. Then, somehow, I convinced a couple friends of mine from L.A. that they should come along on what, I believe, I referred to like a salesman as, “An opportunity of a lifetime!”
A quick check of the Scarebird front brakes and the addition of a much quieter side pipe in the shop made me feel a little more ready for the trip.
The irony about living in L.A. meant that I would need to drive clear across the country to get to the start of the event, just to drive right back home. However, the drive east would give me ample opportunity to put the car through its paces and try out my new modifications. So after loading the car with everything I would need, I hit the road. I waited until I was outside California to really put my modifications to the test. Just across the Arizona state line, I filled the two fuel cells for the first time as I warily checked for leaks that could lead to an untimely explosion. Everything seemed to be holding tight, so I hit the open road with the rear suspension sagging considerably under the weight. I immediately noticed that dragging all that extra fuel around drastically affected my ability to maintain higher than normal speeds while going uphill. It also made the engine run hotter. As a result, I stopped outside Dallas after a detour to Summit Racing Equipment to make some more modifications. At Aaron and Emily Reeves’ shop, Flying Sparks Garage, I went about adding a trans cooler to keep the TF904’s temps in check. I also raised the back of the hood hinges to vent more air from the engine bay, and swapped the mechanical fan for an electric fan to conserve a few extra horsepower—a decision that would prove fateful down the road.
Knowing people along the way helps a lot, on the journey east I stopped at Flying Sparks Garage for some mid-trip modifications hoping to better my chances at a good run.
With everything as ready as it was going to be given my budget and time constraints, I drove the rest of the way to Georgia for the start of HOT ROD Drag Week with the ever reliable Hornét requiring absolutely no additional work, The car remained parked at Atlanta Dragway awaiting my return and the coming trip to New York for the start of the C2C Express event I was slated to participate in. I could hardly wait to get back in the car and off on this legendary adventure, but that will have to wait till part three of this epic story! To read part one about the history of this event click here: https://www.hotrod.com/articles/history-cannonball-run-sea-shining-sea-part-1/
The Hornet was considerably weighed down from the added weight once I filled the fuel cells, but I’ve had plenty of weight in the car before and it never seemed to mind it.
The extra charging ports would come in handy for keeping all the electronics charged up, but the real trick piece here is the 12 volt pump that can add oil from that jug to the engine while driving.
Luckily I happened to drive right by the new Summit Racing store in Texas on my trip to pick up extra supplies.
The car made it with absolutely no issues all the way from California to Georgia, making me confident it would survive the drive to come.
At this point the car was parked in Georgia to await this extremely bizarre groups arrival. From left to right we have Justin G., Jacob Davis, and Lee E.

2017 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo
Little known fact: This guy took his driver’s test way back in 1984 at the wheel of, wait for it, a Nissan Sentra. I failed.
It wasn’t the car’s fault. The cream coloured first generation Sentra belonged to my Young Drivers of Canada instructor and was a perfectly delightful little econobox. The problem was that I was used to driving a ’78 Dodge Monaco station wagon that was just a tick under 18 feet long, a full four feet longer than the Sentra. When it came time to parallel park, a skill which I had mastered in the Mopar, my sense of geometric movement(is that even a thing?) was all out of whack. It took two tries to get the job done and I failed my test.
The Sentra has changed a lot over the years, not the least of which is its size. The current model, the seventh generation, is now 182″ in length, a full 15″ lomger that the original. Two inches longer than a first generation Altima. This seems to be a trend within the industry, where each generation of vehicle is larger than the next. So where does that leave bump in stature leave the Sentra in Nissan’s model line-up?
To be truthful, Sentra still slots in below the now much larger Altima, but it is no longer the lowest rung on the brand’s model ladder. The excellent Versa Note is the Sentra’s next smaller sibling, while the economical Micra (here in Canada at least, sorry America) is now the entry level Nissan.
Suitably, the Sentra has stepped up its interior quality game, while adding a bunch of more upscale options as buyers will expect. It has also become that tough character that many auto scribes fret over: the nice car. In other words, the Sentra is a nice car. There is nothing horrible one can say about it, while at the same time there is nothing that makes a reviewer go off his nut with enthusiasm.
Attractive styling is evident inside and out. Cargo space is decent for a small sedan and interior fit and finish are what you would expect of a vehicle at this price point. The driving experience of the 2016 model was less than exciting though, mostly due to the rather disappointing 130 horsepower generated by its 1.8L four banger. The CVT transmission offered on most models did not help, but thankfully a 6 speed manual was available, which spiced things up a bit.
For the 2017 model year, Nissan has made an effort to bump the Sentra up from being a nice car to being a sporty car with the addition of a turbo charged version. That led many of us within the enthusiast community hoping that at least the spirit of the historic SE-R models would be riding along with the Sentra SR Turbo. The bump to 188 horsepower is substantial and squashes any commentary about the car being under-powered, but doesn’t go so far as to inspire any boy racer wet dreams.
What we have here is a really nice compact sedan which has just the right amount of oomph. In other words, a nice car.
Bear in mind that I have a bit of history with the brand and I am in their corner. I heartily recommend the boosted Sentra to those in the market for a nice little sedan. I however, want more.
The company takes its motorsport seriously these days, from international endurance racing to the born and bred in Canada Micra Cup. That passion for motorsport has led the company to create a bevy of NISMO branded machines that typically back up their aggressive looks with much improved performance. I would suggest that it is only a matter of time before a Sentra appears sporting NISMO badges, big brakes, stiffer springs, fatter tires, grippy seats and noisy exhaust.
When that car arrives, and it will, I will get excited.
