wow Moebana's ending came right out of nowhere. can't help but feel bad for the mangaka, because it's pretty clear this cancelation came out of nowhere
they came in second place in the first place of the tournament, meaning they went on to the next round. and then the final page is like "oh btw we were all happy and then two years passed and there's only one chapter left"

Moebana by Hidari Yokoyama
It is pretty much a niche manga about Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement style) and shows how an otaku Tsukumo Fukakusa learns about Ikebana and then subsequently joins the Ikebana club and pairs up with Tsubame Dewakuni to enroll for the prestigious Rokka cup. Their personalities are poles apart and one thing they both have in common is their passion for flowers!
Sunshine and introvert pairing up is my guilty pleasure UwU ✨
It is a slice of life with a lot of varied side characters who are super interesting too. The mangaka and translator have worked hard to convey the meaning behind Ikebana so well! Love the little notes on the side about the scientific name of flowers etc. It is very cute, calming and relaxing to watch two cuties arrange flowers with other cuties!

tsubame might have felt like a character that seemed all serious and focused but in reality half his brain is just filled with flowers and the other half doesn't know exactly how to talk to or process other people
They both touch grass but at what cost.

i don't think the term moe needs a translator's note in the year 2023, especially when the series' name is a pun on the word. but also, like. this is wrong? anime is what it's most known for in the anglosphere, but that's not the most dominant usage

Me reading Meobana chapter 27 and seeing a very huge time skip:
But it really did end. Like that. This manga was my comfort manga and to see it being cut short was painful to say the least.
But I really hope the mangaka can sometime in the future come back to this series and give us further volumes of the story. Stay healthy and take care of yourself Hidari Yokoyama. Thank you for the comfort you gave my mind at my worst stressed days.
I'll never get over this.
