their portrayals both share this particular glowy white circle particle effect. so what if vnc either takes place before the conclusion of ph, or in another part of the multiverse where the abyss was never re-purified, and altus is part of the abyss?

I realized I have this recurring theme with my lovely mutuals.

Just today I was going through your Masterlist to find something to read and realized I've already read your entire Masterlist, even though I commented for the first time on "The book of you and I" which is probs your latest work I think (??) When I first joined the BTS side of tumblr, I was inhaling fanfics, but always as a silent reader... And turns out 😂 I read all your works in that silent reader phase.

But I do so love all of them 💜 every one is so unique, the concept totally different from the previous. You're so little talented littul mochiverse 💜💜

Do you think Vanitas would ever confess first? Cuz I'm obsessed with the idea.

ive written two fics abt vanitas confessing first (one of which isnt published bc my writing spoons go poof but ill get them back eventually) so yeah im under the belief that he will be the DIRECT confession first.

noe has basically already indirectly confessed multiple times.

vanitas confessing directly first also would be the most Dramatic. bc it'd be a Character Development Full Circle Moment.

personally, outside of my fics (at least the ones i just mentioned), if i had to make The Moment vanitas confessed (aka what i think would be the most likely scenario for it)....

i would make it where ruthven's curse has taken over noe, & vanitas/noe fight in a way that reflects the amusement park, but now they're on opposing sides.

noe is the one who has completely lost himself, trapped behind a hypnotic spell, & vanitas is the one who is cognizant & has to save him.

"hah. i get it. this is karma, isn't it?" vanitas would probably say.

vanitas never throws a single punch. he spends the entirety of the fight dodging noe's attacks. noe eventually gets frustrated and screams "why arent you fighting me!!! fight me back you cowardly human!!!"

& vanitas sternly tells him no. that he's already hurt noe before (with a flashback to when he cut him with the book in the amusement park overlaying vanitas visibly grimacing/flinching) & he's never going to ever let that happen again.

noe gets frustrated, & with this anger ignited in him, he gets the complete upperhand & deals a devastating blow that knocks vanitas to the ground, flat on his back. noe's on top of him in a second, a clawed hand raised and ready to slash; pure, unbridled rage burning in his glowing magenta eyes.

vanitas just looks at him, with tears forming in his eyes. he cant do this again. it was painful before, but it's so much more painful the second time. he cant handle it, and weakly pleads for him to come back to him.

"i love you." he says in a horse voice, barely audible. but the sincerity in his tone is undeniable. it's palpable. it makes noe freeze in his tracks. & vanitas seizes the opportunity to use all of his strength to lean up & kiss him.

& we see the light come back into noe's eyes as ruthven's curse is broken by the power of their love & they live happily ever after ty for my speech :)

i’ve made like. attempts to explain this before, but it was prior to fully catching up with vnc, so i think i didn’t understand enough to really explain it.

but, i think my favorite part of the parallels between ozlice & vanoe is that they start on totally opposite ends of the romance spectrum.

ozlice falls under the romance trope of pretty much instantaneously getting attached to each other & acting upon it. of course, that’s mostly due to them being drawn to each other through their unremembered past together, but it still very cute, & especially soft, the way they just instantly set into openly having affection for each other.

vanoe is the exact opposite. but, with an interesting edge.

since vanitas is quite open about his affections for noe from the jump, but then he tones down his expression of it once noe interprets his own immediate interest/attachment towards vanitas as dislike.

so, then, that kinda leads to them having this dynamic of a hesitant partnership, but it’s clearly not entirely that. they clearly both got attached to each other from the jump, noe just didn’t know how to process that. but then, that leads to them having a dynamic where they’ve settled into that “disliking each other” reputation, & it becomes a way of expressing their affection.

and yet, in spite of that, both couples share having such an intricate understanding of each other. and, they both develop that understanding pretty much immediately.

multiple times throughout the first few arcs of pandora hearts, oz is scrutinized about why he’s bothering to stuck with alice, with the people scrutinizing him about it usually putting her down in some manner. he never tolerates it. even when he barely knows her, he defends the little he does know with such passionate conviction.

it builds up to his affirmation of her existence at the end of the cheshire arc in chapter 20.

and, from them on, that remains a moment alice constantly refers back to. bc it was so pivotal for her to hear the things oz said.

and then, with vanoe, you have again, some people trying to call noe & vanitas’ relationship into question. however, it’s done on both ends.

noe goes towards the oz route of kinda trying his best to defend the little he does know of vanitas. it’s not much, but it’s enough to know he’s more than people accuse him of being. (also the way his speech in ch 53 specifically parallels oz’s speech to alice in chapter 20 with near identical wording goodbye)

vanitas usually takes the just. total deflection route, but his passionate affection/attachment for noe is very apparent.

anyway point being,, god ozlice loves each other so much, vanoe loves each other so much. they invented love right in front of my eyes and i love them so much for it they’re so fucking good i love them so MUCH

I know you don’t always have the spoons to read them, but what are some Vanoe fics you’d recommend (beside your own)?

havent had spoons to read much lately but anything by serra/memos (most of their fics are explicit/mature, but she has a few non-explicit ones! they're all good regardless) is always a go-to for me. she's the one who inspired me into writing fics actually!

also where the heart belongs by @tempodreams is incredible, of course

the word of your body by turnups was fun. it's abt vanoe going from basically fuck buddies to lovers. short but sweet.

and my favorite fic not written by my friends/not that known in the fandom is mélodie de neige by hakuyu it has some rly neat ph references and cleansed my soul the first time i read it. it's not explicit, just really good, pure fluff. very soft and cozy.

saw people talking about how the new chapters kind of make vanoe appear ooc... what are your thoughts on the matter? and their dynamic in general?

anyone who's claiming they're out of character in the new chapters hasn't been paying attention to them. their progression to this point is very logical if you have been paying attention.

firstly, it's not like they've never had soft moments with each other before. they've had quite a few, even if they've been brief, or have started with brash behavior. i'd say their exchange of smiles on the belltower in chapter 11 is probably the most equivocal/relevant to their most recent interactions together, but there are many examples i could list.

secondly, though, and somewhat more importantly: they just went through one of their most intense, and vulnerable moments together. vanitas let himself cry in front of noe, and that was probably the first time he's let himself cry in front of anybody since he was a child.

noe poured his heart out to vanitas with his declaration about never setting him free. and, also allowed himself to be quite vulnerable after he snapped back to himself.

they have both come to terms with and realized their importance to each other. it makes perfect sense that they would get to this point, where they are now letting themselves be completely comfortable with each other, and settling down within that acknowledgement of their importance to each other.

their soft spot has always been each other to a very apparent degree, all they're doing now is fully accepting and settling into that. and i personally love getting to see it come full circle. anyone who wants to claim otherwise sincerely just hasn't paid enough attention lmao.
