They almost get to getting together and then don't because whatever reason (military, fear, whatever, not figured it out yet). They probably figure it's going to go away. It doesn't.

i find it shameful that the leaders of a series of eastern european and balkan countries are choosing to either stay by israel or keep their mouths shut on this. we are countries which have no history of colonialism or colonial outposts around the world, in fact, we are countries with a long history of struggling against imperialism and opression from several bigger empires, and we know what it is to be opressed in this way, and we know what it is to have your people ethnically clensed and your lands stolen while your delegates desperately beg foreign countries to please help them and noone does shit bc bigger empires have split the world up amongst themselves (like the fall of romania to the soviets most recently). i find it shameful that romania, which was one of the first countries to recognize palestine in 1988, and which has been praised over years for standing by palestine and trying to promote a two state solution (okay not perfect, better than nothing this shit Is complicated regardless of what internet ppl say) again and again and support palestinian interests to the UN,,, is now largely choosing silence and through association with the eu, standing by israel. come the fuck on. in part im sure because romania (and bulgaria) are already on bad terms with the eu, western euro doesn't like that we are in it and were having issues w shenghen and corruption and plenty of other shit and our ""leaders"" probably wouldn't wanna throw more fule to the fire, in part because our ""leaders"" are mostly amoralistic self interested money stealing corrupt good for nothing fucks who barely give a shit about their own ppl even. either damn way, shameful

Ya know what effs me up about Exandria Unlimited Calamity, specifically with Zerxus and Asmodeus: Luis said Zerxus sees that relationship as paternal.

Meaning he looked at Asmodeus and saw Elias not Evandrin (Elias is canonically a spitting image of Evandrin.) but like it couldn’t have been on looks alone. And yes I think the argument of Zerxus wants to redeem the lord of the hells because if he can then he can be forgiven by his son is definitely apart of his Paladin Hubris and fatherly guilt.

But for Zerxus to look at Asmodeus who’s (absolutely deliberately) appeared to him with the face of his “dead” husband, and Zerxus went “baby boy, sweet child, my kid” instead… it’s very eye opening on Elias’s characterization. We see him for such brief moments but with this fact we learn so much.

The implication that Elias is similar to Asmodeus in personality really fucked me up. That Asmodeus rejection of redemption is a mirror of what Zerxus believes Elias reaction to seeing him again will be,with distain and contempt. That not only is Zerxus expecting this reaction but that Elias is entitled to these feelings and Zerxus is expecting anger and hatred from his son. (Honestly sometimes I think Zerxus didn’t go to the hells because he wanted to redeem Asmodeus but because he truly believes he deserves it, I mean to be that obsessive with redemption… 🚩)

Although with this information when I imagine Elias as a player character, in my mind he’s devilishly charismatic and instead of just out right lying he tells half truths or lies of omission, letting people draw their own conclusions.

Also he watch he’d the world end before plane shifting to another realm after his father who he hadn’t seen in seven years rolled up told him he loves him, gave him his journal, and left seemingly forever; Elias is going to be traumatized for a while. Luckily Evandrin seems like an emotionally mature and considerate parent who will give Elias space to feel those darker emotions in healthy ways and help Elias recover from all of that. (But if he needs to go through his ‘angry at the world’ and ‘I hate my dad’ phase, he should and good for him.)

(Also if people wanna talk Calamity with me I’m so down👀)
