I have this fanfic idea bouncing around my head of The Unsleeping City from Dimension 20 but it’s Night City and not New York.

And since in the Temperance ending Johnny puts Dreamer on V grave, I think V should be the Vox Phantasma and originally I was gonna say Johnny be the Vox Populi but for a City like Night City I honestly think the Voice of the people would be someone like Adam Smasher since Night City is this Violent, bleak, dangerous place. OR David could have been Vox Populi but his death causes Night he City to reach out for its Vox Phantasma and finds V. And maybe Johnny was the previous Vox Phantasma and either didn’t know or was keeping it secret from everyone around him. (I see it as either V knows about the Unsleeping part of Night City and Johnny being like what the fuck did I get myself into, or Johnny knows and is the reason V is Vox Phantasma now.)

And instead of the whimsical supernatural creatures and people the The Unsleeping City had, Night City is this semi sentient entity that’s petty and brutal yet somber and beautiful. And it always wins. (I’m thinking locations have personification/manifestations like Lizzie’s is an attractive person made of neon, Embers is pretension, glamorously elegant old lady with very little patience, The Afterlife is That robot that sits on the table (it’s sits like Johnny and I find it unsettling honestly) outside of Rogues booth. Arasaka Tower is a man that looks like Saburo in a crisp fancy expensive suit but is his flesh is continuously melting as if a nuke is going off around him) and Random Characters throughout the Game are apart of the Unsleeping part of Night City (maybe the instead of The Unsleeping for Night City it’s The Net)

Ooooorrrrrrr I have this other idea that’s similar but instead of it being and Unsleeping City crossover it’s simply that V is the personification/manifestation of Night City and is this Eldritch abomination masquerading as a normal person because they as so painfully alone but then they get Johnny stuck in their head and they’re not truly dying but as something very liminal and ever changing and Ephemeral, having Johnny in their head is changing them so much that something in Night City is unraveling and V and Johnny have to save not only V but Night City. (Or with this one it takes place post the Sun ending and a successful crystal palace heist, Night City has chosen V as its champion/vessel and as V is dying trying to find a cure Night City is changing her)

Idk I just find Night City as a character to be so fun to explore, especially since it’s believed to be the true antagonist of the game and series.

Maybe I’ll write all of them lol. Once I finish my other fic of course.
