What is your personal HC of Mikes back story?

Mike Zacharias’s Background:

Mike actually had a pretty quiet childhood.

He was an only child growing up, a late-in-life accident by his older parents.

His parents had other children that had been taken by fever very young.

They had a small farm in Wall Maria.

As a result, Mike grew up doing manual labor from an early age. While he appreciated the freedom of space and less cramped conditions than in the city, he knew that farming wasn’t what he wanted to do with his life.

He got his chance when he was twelve. Unfortunately he lost both of his parents during a horrible winter to pneumonia.

Left to himself, he decided to join the cadet corps, abandoning the farm that he couldn’t possibly run by himself at that age.

He excelled in training and opted to join the Scout, the idea of going into unknown territory was thrilling to him.

Mike was terrified the first time he saw a Titan, but he realized he could smell them before he saw them.

He had always thought his sense of smell was normal, his dad also having his incredible sense of smell, but the others didn’t have the ability to tell where they were coming from.

He used his senses to his advantage, making a name for his Titan sniffing abilities and for his incredible strength.

He spent years fighting alongside Erwin Smith, another cadet he had trained with. The pair growing closer as they chose the same path of the Survey Corps.

He became Humanity’s Strongest Soldier, until a certain raven haired man was dragged by Erwin and Mike up from the sewers of the Underground.

He never minded handing that title over. He didn’t care for it.

He was happy being a Squad Leader and habing less attention on him. He was happier in the shadow of Erwin and Levi.

I began watching attack on titan in like... 2015 and I fell off and now I've been pulled back in via eruri. I've admittedly not read the manga yet, but I've watched the anime and played the game. If there's one thing I wish there had been would've been a team up with Erwin, Levi, and Mike. Because watching the anime I didn't orginally realise Mike's importance. He's always kinda around until the episode he dies where it's mentioned he's second best (or at least the first I heard it) then bam! He's dead. It's strange because the game repeatedly mentions Mike's skills but nothing comes of it.

Ik we briefly had Levi & Mike try open Annie's nape but that was hardly anything. Commander Erwin & Humanities First and Second Strongest Soldiers would've been an epic trio.

Welcome back to the fandom Anon! I can highly recommend reading the manga. It can be a frustrating experience at times, but it's definitely worth it.

I absolutely agree that Mike is a hugely under-rated character. He's always been one of my favourite Veterans. For many years I was a proud member of the Mike Zacharias Appreciation Squad. I would have been absolutely gutted if he had died, but thankfully he just retired and went to chill on the beach in Hawaii.

As Humanity's OG Strongest Soldier until Levi came along, I would have loved to see him team up with Erwin and Levi, you're right that they would have been an epic trio. I would also love to see something of his cadet days with Erwin and Nile. I know I'm not the only Eruri fan who would sell their first born for a prequel of the Survey Corps Veterans in the years between ACWNR and the main arc of the manga.

Y/N tossed a hot look at the pair as they passed by. The Captain seemed to ignore her, but she knew he had seen her where Mike flashed a saucy grin before turning back to the task at hand.

Y/N wasn’t the type of person to pay attention to the social interactions of those around her. She was focused on training her squad to survive the next expeditions or muddling her way through the mountains of paperwork that crossed her desk every day. “I’m as serious as Levi on cleaning day. They both want you.” Hanji’s eyes twinkled “So, who do you want to be with?”

“Um....I don’t know....I haven’t thought about it before.”

Over the next few days, she noticed how Erwin’s eyes sparkled with intensity when they connected with hers. The slight straightening of his posture and his voice because a bit deeper, more gentle in its timber.

With Mike, she noticed how many deep breaths he took around her. She realized how often he was around her when he probably had better things to do with his time.

She had secretly been appraising them, using her newfound knowledge to try and gauge where her own feelings lay. It was a difficult choice. Both men were amazing. They were strong, courageous men who obviously cared deeply for her. She would be cherished and loved no matter who she chose, but what was her heart telling her?

She decided to find out. Making her way down the halls, she knocked on the door, nervously waiting as the footsteps came closer. The door opened to reveal the tall striking figure of the Commander.

His expression showed his surprise at seeing her at his door at this late hour. Letting her pass, he closed the door and asked “Everything alright, Y/N?”

“I need you to kiss me Erwin.”
