Posting this recipe here for reference later (no value judgement or preference on this particular recipe or source. I just learned about this dish a few minutes ago!).

Phyllo Dough
A delicate crunchy pastry born of the forbearing process of interleaving butter and paper thin layers of dough. Patience, though, truly is a virtue, for the reward is a texture heavy gift from Turkey.

I need your help, recipe-side tumblr!
My late grandfather, may he rest in peace, used to make a dish for me. I want to make it myself, but I don't have the recipe or the name of the dish. But I CAN describe it, so I'm hoping that someone out there recognizes it.
I believe the dish is made with ground beef, but it's possible it's also made with ground lamb. It may be a Southwest Asian dish in origin.
He always made it with the leftover sauce from when he made Chicken Cacciatore, so it has a tomato base, but the consistency wasn't a soup. I believe it had rice mixed in. It was flavorful - lots of spices - but it wasn't hot spicy.
Does anyone know what dish I'm describing?
