One thing i really like and appreciate about 5sos is that they continuously make it clear that all four of them are an equally important part of the band. In interviews, 90% of the time it's all four of them together as opposed to just Luke as the lead singer. Many bands, from what I know, push the lead singer to be the "front man" and the face of the band, so it's the lead singer in interviews, the lead singer in the front of promo shoots, the lead singer in focus in music videos, etc. While there is nothing wrong with that at all, it's so refreshing to see a band like 5sos present themselves as a unit. They all get a fair amount of screen time in music videos, they all get to steal the show in promo shoots simultaneously, and they're all together in interviews.
I think this is so important because not only does it take pressure off of each of them, as they can rely on each other to take over in interviews, but for us as fans, we really get to know and have a connection to each of them, not just to one of them. In return, each one of them has - i suppose and hope - an equal amount of fans in his lane. Plus, we get to see their dynamic and all the individual friendships within the band, which in my opinion further strengthens our connection to them.
I know that this is common with some other bands as well, but 5sos is the first band that I've been a fan of that has this sense of equality between the band members when it comes to outward representation. It's just so nice to see.
Ashton: Looks like you're gonna be stuck with me a lot sooner than you thought 👀
Ashton: And we get to spend time with Luke too, too bad Calum couldn't make Coachella. It would've been like a little band reunion.
hiiii so i’ve had this blog for years but twitter has been making my brain melt lately so i want to start using tumblr more regularly. i used to only try to post music stuff on here but i think i’ve decided to just say fuck it and post/reblog whatever i want. im gonna tag some bands/artists/tv shows/movies/etc that im into so if anyone wants to be mutuals w me lmk ;)
I wanna know whose idea it was for Michael to put on eyeliner again after all these years so I can send them flowers and a basket of cookies as a thank you.
"I've got this friend" is probably one of 5sos's best songs, or at least a really good one. Super disappointed that there's only one (to my knowledge) version of it, and it's live. Everywhere I've looked is the same live audio from Amsterdam.
