i'm sad and i need katsu fluff so here is katsuki bakugou with filipino!reader.

He'd adore your accent as you're learning to speak Japanese.

He'd tease you immensely for it but when you're not looking, he has this soft smile on his face.

He's so proud of you for learning a language asides your own and he's got a blush on his face when he hears you practicing how to compliment him or say that you love him.

He loves the food. Adobo? Loves it. Sinigang? Loves it. Fucking sisig and dinakdakan? That shit's his favorite.

He fucking hates balut tho. You tried making him eat it once but he really wouldn't budge.

You ate it in front of him and he was just silently judging you the entire time. Bombastic side eye frfr.

He did a google search on your culture to try to connect with you more. And honestly, because he wanted to impress you.

He found out about harana. He wanted to do it but aint no way he'd sing sweet songs with a battered old guitar.

You just woke up one day at like 6 in the morning from the sound of loud drums.

He had an entire fucking drum set in front of your house and was shouting in the mic.

You think he was singing a song by gloc 9? Or maybe a japanese song? In fact, it could have been the Philippine anthem.

You'd have no idea with the sound of drums overpowering even his shouting.

Your family and neighbors were not pleased at all. Your brother almost hosed him down.

Aside from that event your family adores him.

You think the reason he was forgiven for the harana incident is because he joined in a drinking session.

Your asshole uncles made him take a shot.

He was already reluctant but wanting to impress your family, he didn't deny it.

What he didn't know was that it was actually a shot of vinegar with tons of spicy peppers.

Yup, he coughed for like a straight five minutes and had to get some water. His pride was torn up but at least the family likes him now. Well, after all the laughing and teasing, that is.

He'd try to learn your language too. It's adorable hearing him say in broken Filipino "ma-hal kit-a".

Okay ever since you dated shoji he fall inlove with you harder

He would enjoy listening to some filipino music with you and his most favourite is pasilyo by sunkissed lola

He most definitely enjoys your cooking he does like the pickled squid ( adobong pusit )

He would eat the snack you make is turon ( banana spring rolls )

Whenever you accidentally speak in filipino shoji will be confused "ay, I'm so sorry mahal I didn't mean to speak in my language." you said to shoji "no, it's okay love. haha" shoji said

You will sometimes teach shoji simple filipino gestures when it's needed

You will always compliment him in your language even though he doesn't understand he can see your eyes are full of affection

When you sing he feels at home and relaxed he really loves your voice when you sing

When it's snowing he adores you because its your first time touching and seeing snow and seeing you happy just melts his heart you are just too precious for him

Hmmm... I'd say rn I'm really happy since I recently went to a con and got to meet one of the creators of Trese and bought 2 signed copies, books 4 and 5 since I already had 1-3. It's a short read but it's deff a fun one. I highly reccomend reading Trese. It's like a noir detective comic with Filipino culture mixed into it. It's fun seeing Filipino mythical creatures I know and love and learn about ones I haven't heard of before. It's also a treat to see places I've been to in the books and be like 'Hey I was just there!' esp since I mostly consume foreign media and it doesn't happen that often to me.

Another is Changing History and its aus on Quotev. I'm not really in the MHA fandom anymore and I haven't really watched or read the anime and manga for years now but I love the story of CH. It's not canon compliant and it's a multiple x reader but I reccomend it if you're into that kind of fic.

I've also been playing Baldur's Gate 3 with my uncle which is a very fun and different experience for me since I'm a I will bend over backwards to make sure my companions do not ever dissaproved of me while also making sure I never act rude to a character or else I'll cry (unless it's funny or the character is a bitch) kind of player while he's more of a lmao Imma be a massive asshole to everyone and be the most evil piece of shit for the lols kind of player. So I kinda end up becoming corrupted lmao.

I've also always had an interest in the sea. Sea creatures to be specific. I love learning about them and sometimes just watching them. My mom used to find it funny how I would just watch the aquarium channel on the tv. I started off just reading about fishes and the like on those big encyclopedias. For some reason my family gave me a lot as a kid and I favored the ones about animals. I also read the ones at our school library. Nowadays, I like to watch those deep sea exploration streams and I'm actually currently studying to become a marine biologist!

Last but not least, my friends and family. It's been a rough couple of years especially the last one. My mom just died from cancer last December, a few weeks before my birthday. I wish my mom had been there on my bday but I'm at least grateful she got to see pictures of my early celebration with friends--We celebrated a month early since it gets too hectic during December. It's nice to see my friends supporting me and recently I've been getting closer with my family. I rarely interacted with my family that much, perhaps only during the December holidays and rare family get togethers, but I suppose they sensed that I really needed to get out more often and reached out to me more often. It makes me happy.

➺︎ Okay hear me out!! Deku is definitely the type of boyfriend that any pinoy household would love.

➺︎ He's sweet like super. He'll help his girlfriend's mom do dishes or help walis (broom) the house.

➺︎ He knows basic basic tagalog. I have this headcanon that his filipina girlfriend would definitely have taught him some phrases. yes swears definetly, but no like basic basic phrases.

➺︎ i.e. "mabuti po ako." (i'm good) "salamat po." (thank you) and what type of boyfriend would he be if he didn't know how to say I love you? "Mahal kita"

➺︎ Okay we all know he has manners that's just a given. So that also means not only would he use "po" he would also use proper honorifics when addressing ones older than him.

➺︎ "Mano Po" yes he would do this.

➺︎ When his girlfriend’s cousin or siblings who are much younger than Deku call him kuya Izuku (big brother Izuku) he’d be really surprised when they’d use that certain honorific. He’d probably get emotional.

➺︎ Like Deku he’d have common respect for his elders and would of course would do the “Mano po” however he’d forget at times and just hug them as a way to great his elders.

➺︎ Okay one of my parents is from the Philippines province Bicol.

➺︎ And so my household eats this one dish called “bicol express” and it’s basically a creamy spicy dish. It consist of pork cooked in coconut milk with some amounts of shrimp paste, but Bicol Express isn’t Bicol express if it doesn’t numb your mouth so there’s like a shit load of chiles. However the thai peppers are usually the most common used.

➺︎ Anyways I say this because Bakugo would most definitely eat that type of food. And honestly that shits bussin’ please it’s soo good.

➺︎ Anyways listen he’s not the type to respect ones older than him sometimes, however if it’s with his girlfriend’s parents he’d keep his cool. I mean he’s got to.

ー you're their filipino s/o! and you teach them the wrong filipino words

- midoriya izuku -

(for izuku, you have just started dating,, otherwise i think izuku would've already done a lot of research about the filipino language and the culture if you've been dating for a long time now)

also, this one's inspired by that one tweet that said the word, "tite" sounded cute 😭 tite means dick tho

you were on the couch with izuku beside you, and you watch one video from tiktok that accidentally made you mutter out a curse word in filipino.

"bobo naman" [so stupid] you curse under your breath as you scroll to the next tiktok.

(the word 'bobo' is somehow a lot more offensive than 'stupid')

izuku looks at you like 😯❗he takes a little peek at your phone to see what made you switch to your native language all of a sudden.

"you spoke in filipino!"

"you heard that?" you easily see the excitement in his eyes.

"bobo, was it? does that mean 'cute' in filipino?"

you try your best to hold back your laughter. you realize the tiktok he saw on your phone was a video of puppies, and izuku thought you were calling them cute.

you could correct him, but you chose not to 💀

"yes, 'zuku! it does mean 'cute!' how'd you know?"

he gives you a cute triumphant grin, "really? i'm right? i just guessed it from the video you were watching! and the word itself sounds cute too :)))"

you couldn't help but laugh, but poor izuku thought you were just so happy and proud of him for guessing it right 😭

izuku never looked the word up and check if it really means 'cute' because,,

he trusts you 😃

so now you hear a lot of "aww, that's so bobo!" from izuku.

you somehow forgot you taught him that, and so he called YOU bobo, 😧 and you were ready to throw hands.

he bashfully smiles and fiddles with his hands, "y/n, you look so boboー"

"WHAT?!" izuku jolts. he probably had flashbacks of bakugo from that angry response 😭

"i- i called you cute in filipino! d-did i not say it right?"

"oh." it dawns on you. "... i have to tell you something, izuku."

you finally apologize and tell him that 'bobo' is a filipino curse word that actually means 'stupid'

izuku doesn't get mad at you for this, he's just in shock like 😦 "i had no idea... " he even considered using 'bobo' as a pet name before this bc it just sounded so cute

he's relieved he didn't call any of your filipino friends or relatives 'bobo' 💀 he'd get smacked by the tsinelas [flip-flops] 💥

- bakugo katsuki -

you also teach him the wrong words 💀

but with him it's different.

"katsukiii, mahal kita :)" [i love you] it's very intimate :))

he looks at you like, 🤨 "what the fuck are you saying"

"it means 'i love you!'" you explain.

the expression on his face doesn't change, but you notice the tip of his ears turning red.

you smile at his reaction, but then he quickly turns into suspicion when he catches your grin.

"that means something else." he glares.

"no? it does mean 'i love you!' it's also really intimate!"

"it means 'fuck off' or something, right? just fucking say it."

you just stare at him like 😐"fine. 'mahal kita' actually means 'fuck you'ー"

"mahal kita." he says in such a stoic but angry tone.

you feel your cheeks heat up, and you try to hold back the smile spreading across your face.

"OI, DON'T FUCKING LAUGH AT ME IF I CAN'T SAY IT RIGHT, SHITTY Y/N. MAHAL KITA. MAHAL KITA. MAHAL KITA."

and you just hide your smiling face behind your hands, and you explain that it just makes you happy how he's speaking your native language.

katsuki, still thinking he's cursing you in filipino, just calls you a masochist. 😐

you also tell him that 'ang ganda mo' [you're beautiful] means 'you're an idiot.'

you got to hear that from him for a whole day <3 you just ignore the fact that he's actually calling you stupid.

he also doesn't look up the words on the internet bc he was just too excited to use the "curse" words : )

this only lasts for 2 days though because,,

he curses everyone, and you just fear he'd someday yell out "OI, MAHAL KITA, DEKU" 😨

you finally apologize and explain everything to him, and he then proceeds to ignore you for a day 😔

BUT! since he now knows those words in filipino, katsuki whispers them to you in rare intimate moments with him.

- kaminari denki -

he LOVES hearing you speak in your native language! no matter what sentences you're actually saying, it's always incredibly attractive to denki when you speak filipino :))

so you decide to have a little fun with that.

"hey hey, y/n!! what's 'i love you' in filipino?" his eyes glimmer with excitement.

you rest your chin on the palm of your hand, and flirtatiously lean closer to denki, "putangina mo." [your whore of a mother] -> commonly used to express anger.

he turns bright red and giggles nonstop. "OHUGHYGH AWWW Y/N! STOPP"

"putangina mo, denkiii~" he slaps his hands against his face, covering his flustered expression as you lean in even closer to him.

he recovers from being flustered and giddy. he takes a deep breath, "p-putangina mo, y/n 😼" he smirks. he said it so accurately 😭 and even copied the accent.

" aw :') "

you didn't expect that to backfire so quickly, but you can't really blame him, so you just go "🙂... t-thanks, denki. i love you too."

"oh! was my pronunciation off? DONT WORRY, I'LL PRACTICE!"

and so denki's just saying "putangina mo" every chance he gets, and you try to keep reminding yourself that he means something else.

he asks you to teach him more filipino words, and you teach some correctly, but you decide to have fun with it for the last time.

"you know, i really admire how interested you are in speaking filipino, babe." you smile.

"really?" his face lights up.

"yeah, and you're so cute when you do it! 'pangit ako' [i'm ugly'] means 'i'm the cutest' in filipino :))"

he's now very excited with that sentence.

he walks up to people and go "hey hey, guess what... pangit ako 👈😎👈"

and you just stand there,🧍watching him tell everyone he's ugly 😔

you finally tell him everything, and he's just so offended, "W-WHAT? WHY WOULD YOU DO THATー "

you assure him that everything was just for fun, and denki actually understandsー he'd 100% do the same prank to others.

you also assure him that he's NOT ugly, and his mom isn't a whore 😭 'your whore of a mother' is just a direct translation, but it's really just a very angry expression.

"ang gwapo mo, denki! mahal na mahal kita!" [you're handsome, denki! i love you so much!]

he continues to pout until he looked up the words you've said, and he's back to that giddy cheery denki 🥰

but he does (correctly) use the expression, "PUTANGINA" a lot now 😧 and you often curse along with him

- todoroki shouto -

you don't prank shouto 😌

he's genuinely interested in the filipino culture, not that everyone else isn't, you just don't really see much fun in pranking shouto like that.

so you (correctly) teach him everything

you also compare the weather in the philippines to his quirk, it's either scorching hot or too damn cold and rainy

he didn't know how to react to that 💀 you said that so randomly ?

shouto's a very attentive boyfriend, and he always remembers every detail of the things you talk about.

but he remembers one specific detail from when you were talking about living in the philippines, and he thought about it a lot.

he comes into your room and greets you with a kiss on your cheek as always. "hey, love!" you smile as he lowers his head and takes your hand, your cheeks already starting to heat up with the contact.

but then he presses the back of your hand to his forehead instead of his lips (which you were anticipating for)

the sudden gesture immediately wipes the smile off your face, you went from ☺ to 😧

"s-shou?!" he tilts his head to meet your gaze, your hand still pressed lightly on his forehead "love, what are you doing?"

"... mano po 🗿"

[shouto did a filipino honoring gesture used as a sign of respect to ELDERS, such as your parents, grandparents, etc]

you blink at him, stunned. he takes notice of your confusion.

"sorry, was that wrong?... should it be the other way around?" you continue to stare, still baffled yet amused in a way.

but he's now bringing his hand closer to you, about to press the back of his hand to your forehead this time.

" 😀 wait, shou, no." you grab his extended arm with both of your hands before it could reach your forehead.

you explain to him that the gesture's only done to elders 😭 he feels guilty and gets very apologetic afterwards.

he thought what he'd done was extremely offensive, but you assure him that it's an honest mistake, and you can understand! his genuine interest for your culture also makes you really happy :))

he also sticks to just using certain filipino expressions instead. mostly curse words he hears from you

when he meets your parents or older relatives though, he'll do the respectful gesture, and it's just such a lovely sight :))

everyone including you just melts inside like, "napakabait na bata :)" [what a nice boy ]

but you'll never forget the time your boyfriend made you feel 50 years older than you actually are🧍

"..putangina"

"y/n? i believe that word wasn't very nice." momo slightly frowns at you.

and you genuinely wonder if momo's actually filipino and never told you OR if she's already learned to speak the language fluently.

it turns out momo has read both 'noli me tangere' and 'el filibusterismo' [they're novels written in the 1800s by the philippine national hero; the novels are taught from 9th and 10th grade respectively]

she's watched theatrical adaptations of them, and she heard the word "putangina" many times from donya consolacion 😔

(no format bc i am lazy™️ and this is my second time writing this bc tumblr didn’t save the first draft i made 😐)

filipino stuff and meanings : pogi — handsome, lumigaw is just the same as ligaw (courting, traditionally.) harana — in a nutshell, it’s singing a song outside your crush’s house. it’s a courting thing that can be done with company, or alone. mano po— a respectful gesture done to people older than you

shouto, being someone that has been crushing on you for sometime, and also being new to the entire ‘having a crush’ thing— didn’t exactly know how to ask you out, and we all have an idea why.

exhibit a— his home life (sigh) and exhibit b— he just.. didn’t have enough time to check out anything related to romance, most likely because of his vigorous training.

shouto— who considered asking his brother for help, as he’s had his fair share of experience with dating. but, after he suggested to use cheesy, and borderline cringey pickup lines on you— the youngest todoroki decided against it.

shouto was obviously not going to ask any of his friends (though kind) because midoriya doesn’t look like he’s doing any better with the person he’s crushing on, and bakugou’s well.. bakugou. he’s not going to help either way.

shouto, who is suggested by yaoyorozu that he courts you in a traditional filipino way— who immediately rushes back to his dorm to do research on what “ligaw” is.

shouto, who amplifies his usual kind, and pining gestures. ties your shoelaces, carries your bag, messages you— even though he appears kind of dry, and partners up with you during class pairings.

shouto, who asks for permission to “lumigaw you” because he read from somewhere that a man should ask permission before courting their filipino lover.

if you didn’t have a crush on him already, you do now— who are you to deny such a request? consider yourself wooed.

shouto, who appears in front of your house— equipped with a guitar, and his trusted friends. bakugou’s there for special effects, and you can’t seem to worry about the tree that was planted outside your house, when shouto’s voice is just mesmerizing.

shouto, who is immediately liked by your parents, when he makes “mano po” to them. when he leaves— they ask you when you guys are going to get engaged 😭 and you’re like mom jusq

shouto, who’s invited into your house the following sunday. your mother cooing on how “pogi you are!” and all shouto can do is thank her politely

(you tell him what it means later, and he asks if you could call him pogi more.)

shouto, who is downstairs in your kitchen, dressed casually, but way too handsomely for your liking— preparing “the clear, thin noodles pasta” with your parents (you later tell him that’s pancit.)

shouto, who learns how to cuss in filipino 😎

shouto— who, at this point, is very absorbed in filipino culture 🤩 has at least one traditional filipino household item that makes residence inside his own house.

Alright, can I just... Say something? Can we talk about the erasure of non-Eastern asians in fanfics? I'm not kidding, they're actively erased.

When fanfic writers are describing asian readers it's always distinctly eastern asian traits. Small noses. V shaped faces. Pale skin?? Those are all HEAVILY tied with japan and korea EXCLUSIVELY. Chinese, Iranian, Indian and Indonesian people don't identify with these traits. At all.

You don't get to say "reader is asian" and then give the reader distinctly eastern asian features. You're not only saying you view all asians looking like the japan/korea standard of beauty, but that japan and korea are the only ones who come to mind.

SMAUs especially. I like the aesthetic photos y'all post for instagrams. It's cute. But something that really ticks me off is when you say "here's what reader looks like for reference!" And then this is it

Like. You're targeting an EXTREMELY specific group of Asians. Chinese people arent gonna look and go wow this looks like me! Indonesians aren't. Filipinos aren't.

If you're gonna cater to only Japanese/Korean readers then say so. I'm tired of opening up a fanfic and seeing only the beauty standard and traits of those two ethnicities.

I don't have a v shaped face. I have a square and strong jaw. Not all asians have a v shaped face.

I'm not pale. Not all asians are pale.

And yes, you describing only Japanese and Korean features as the sole asian look is actively erasing other asian ethnicities. You're not doing it on purpose, but youre setting the standard that that's what a majority of Asians look like. It's not.

If your fanfic caters only to the looks of japanese and korean people just say so at the start instead of leading a bunch of people on.

Filipino!Bakugou who cooks the best adobo!

It's even better than your mom's. You don't know how he manages to do it, but you swear it's the best you've ever had.

You asked him how he does it but he just tells you that some extra like you wouldn't understand.

You tried watching him while he was cooking, to see how he does it. But, well, you kinda got distracted. He was shirtless, only wearing an apron! Nobody could blame you for focusing on the wrong things.

Filipino!Bakugou who secretly loves singing.

He can't help it! He grew up with karaoke during every event. Of course he learned to love singing.

You sometimes catch him in the kitchen, singing quietly while cooking. You stare and listen to him but leave just before he's done so he doesn't find out that you love hearing his gruff voice. You swear the food tastes better when he does it.

Get him just a teensy bit drunk when there's a karaoke machine and that man will not stop singing until he scores a hundred. It doesn't matter that Kaminari has his phone out, recording him.

Filipino!Bakugou who plays the guitar.

He loves music, not just singing.

He has a guitar in his room and a collection of guitar picks.

His favorite is a pick that you made using the hard plastic from sim cards. It was terribly cut and was supposed to be a temporary fix since he left his guitar picks at home.

You tell him to use something else but he tells you he just plays better with it.

Knows how to play 'Mundo' by IVOS and forces you to sing it while he plays it. It doesn't matter that you sound like a dying duck, he thinks it's the best rendition of the song.

He taught you how to play the intro to 'Magbalik' by Callalily.

When he was still courting you, he straight up went to your house at night. Outside the gate, he stood with his old guitar.

He sang songs 'til you finally went outside and shut him up by agreeing to be his.

He told you that he was confident his harana would sweep you off your feet. But between us, he was so nervous that it was hard to play the guitar because of his sweaty palms.

Your mom was on the balcony, watching you two. You think she was even more kinikilig than you and Bakugou.
