i have this idea of season six starting in the modern era, where merlin and arthur learn that in order to defeat the ‘big bad’, they have to get the round table back together again

how might they do that, if none of the characters are reincarnated, you may ask??

- gwaine would be in a random pub in the uk (there is no explanation as to how he got there—he doesn’t even know, himself)

- elyan and lance are brought as ghosts into the real world using the horn of cathbhadh. lance is trying to work out how to put on armour while having no physical form. elyan keeps walking up behind gwaine and deadpaning ‘boo’ at him, making him jump and spill his beer (every. single. time.)

- leon and percy wake up to find themselves in the crystal cave, fetched from the past to join the table

- gwen went on a quest, back while she was queen, to find the full prophecy surrounding arthur, merlin and her, only to never return (as far as anyone else knew). turns out, she had found a way to the future, travelling throughout pockets of history to learn about and complete the prophecy (because if anyone was going to do it, it would be her). on her way, she finds the lost soul of morgana, split during her year with morgause, and confused and frightened as her mind and purpose had not truly belonged to her

her and gwen look for a way to get her mortal form back, and make their way to join the round table alongside the others

arthur, merlin, gwen, morgana, gwaine, leon, elyan, percival, lance, all back together again and ready to fight their newest foe, just as it always should have been

As the Death Aniversary comes closer and closer, I see people talking about how happy they are that AT LEAST, the showrunners put down the script for the last season.

So it is time. It is time for the annual reminder that Kingdom Come is not the canonical season 6.

Merlin has no canonical season 6. It probably never will.

Regardless of your opinion of the piece, it was not written by the writers. It was not meant to air. It was not the original plan for the show. These and more affirmations often get shared, but it's just fake news.

It was written by fans. It's fanfiction in theatrical form.

Okay here's my opinion about this story: i don't want a Merlin sequel. Lemme explain why.

This show is perfect. It has its plot holes. It has its problems. But it's still beautiful from the very first episode to the very last.

Lately, it happend that almost all my favorite tv shows have been messed up and ruined (supernatural is sadly an example), and i couldn't bare it if this happened to Merlin too.

Don't even make me talk about a possible reboot cause NEVER, I could never watch Merlin with different actors.

I think I could only accept a sequel if it felt exactly like the five seasons I know. If it was written just as well as before.

No modern age; still middle ages, 'cause that's where the show I know takes place.

Scripts and dialogues? Same style as before. Plots? Same style as before. Soundtrack? Same we always heard during the series. Merthur? Maybe canon this time, thanks.

The reason why we (and I think i can talk for many people), want Merlin back, is because we want to see again all those things we loved so dearly about the show. So it should feel exactly like the show never ended, like things haven't changed so much, because if they did, it wouldn't be Merlin anymore.

I'm just too scared they would ruin it. Maybe writing a bad plot, changing things too much, changing the characters too much. We don't need anything to change, we just need it to go on. And if we have to risk so much, I would rather keep reading fanfictions and pretend Arthur never died.

The more I watch the more certain I get, there is absolutely no way our Morgana became that way naturally. I have brought up the theory that the same thing as what happened to Gwen happened to Morgana during that year she was gone. Rewatching now, the words she says to Merlin as she plants the Fomorrah in him also sounds awfully a lot like subtext—

“It will suck the life force out of you and everthing that makes you you will be gone, and in it’s place there will only be one thought. One thought who will grow until it consumes you completely. One thought who will be your life’s work. You will not be able to rest until it’s done.”

Fomorrah, or Madrakes, or something else entirely. Forget a season 6, I have already accepted our Merlin as the worst possible time line, with all fanfics showing all the other better ones. What I really want is a movie, season, or even entire show— from Morgana’s perspective.

To finally find out what made our kindhearted righteous hero into someone who would fire on the very innocent people she always spoke out for to protect. There is nothing more I could ask for.

Season 6 of Merlin Kingdom come being canon is one of the greatest lies ever told to mankind and the fact that a (relatively) large portion of the fandom actually believes it shows just how much we were traumatised.

But eh, yeah, annual reminder that the writers never wrote a season six of Merlin. Every single one of them is fan-made.

Though I wouldn't mind considering "And like the cycle of the year we begin again" by @katherynefromphilly and the Change Trilogy by @valleydean as canon. Just saying.
