Inspired by @whiteheartlight's hilarious post:
Imagine the sheer awkwardness of the Toa Hagah and Melding Universe Teridax meeting each other on Spherus Magna.
That... sure looks and sounds like their old boss. The one whose new, stolen titanic head got crashed in the reforming of the planet and is finally dead. This one uses light powers - what??? - so he can't be their Teridax.
Meanwhile, Melding Teridax has not the slightest idea who these six guys are. He can guess they knew his alternate.

I love how there are some conceps and plot decisions in the Bionicle canon that I dislike but begrudgingly tolerate because I don’t like removing things from canon unless its necessary yet in my fanon I have concepts that are very similar to said concepts I dislike.
Like for example I don’t like the “Tuyet faked her death and was secretly alive all along” twist and wish Tuyet had just stayed dead yet one of my favorite fanon concept is the exact same twist but with Kojol instead of Tuyet. Or I’m not really fond of Meldirax or inserting characters from AU timelines into the main plot yet I love the idea of a good Karzahni from an alternative timeline being inserted to the main timeline.

Teridax's fatal flaw is that he's too evil.
Literally.
He doesn't take the most direct route to his goals and kill any enemy that could threaten him, simply because he enjoys watching them suffer too much.
Contrast this with Melding Teridax, who does not hesitate at all to smash a bunch of alternate Takanuvas to pieces. There's no satisfaction in it, it's just removing a threat, a means to an end.
This makes me think that Teridax might have taken over the universe more efficiently, and perhaps without even being detected by the Toa, had he focused on his main goal and not being obsessed with making all "lesser beings" miserable. So, the most threatening hypothetical version of Teridax might be one that hadn't leeched out his light to become a shadow being, didn't get his kicks out of being evil, and instead pursued his plan with a ruthless efficiency that the canon Teridax could only dream of.
Or, at least a version that found a way to kick that unfortunate monologuing habit...

Melding Teridax is going to have the worst time adjusting to the prime universe. He's going to be so confused as to why there are so dang many Toa around and barely any Matoran, and then even when he does remember that the Matoran are the small ones in this universe, you just know he's going to screw it up all the time. Keeps accidentally referring to Mazeka as "Toa Mazeka." Absolutely infuriates Tahu when they first meet because he unintentionally brushes him off as an unusually bossy Matoran. Has got no idea what to make of Turaga. Bless.

Actually, I have a solution for Melding Teridax and the Shadow Takanuvas; Have them kill each other during the Battle of Bara Magna.
We know the Bionicle team was uncertain whether the franchise would even get a proper ending, due to its poor sales; They even had to fight to get a measly climax in the form of Stars, rather than nothing at all. So I wonder if the reason why Greg set up characters like Melding Teridax and Tuyet’s survival, was simply as a failsafe in case the line was abruptly cancelled, and it went down to him to write the final battle against Makuta, via the serials.
But as we know, we got some Av-Matoran builds and a comic that resulted in Mata Nui killing Makuta, somewhat by accident; Which meant Melding Teridax and Tuyet no longer had a purpose. Melding Teridax was introduced back in 2008, at the end of Brothers in Arms… Only to finally be brought back in Reign of Shadows, after the final Bionicle comic had been released, after Makuta was killed by someone else.
So there’s no point to Melding Teridax, anymore, certainly not as a lynchpin against his prime counterpart; And I guess he could be used as a way to rebuild the Brotherhood of Makuta, but we already have Miserix for that. Unless Greg thought he was beyond redemption and/or planned to have Velika kill him off. So… may as well get rid of Melding Teridax in a weirdly poetic way, against the one who beat him in so many universes.
And yes, I know Greg retconned Takanuva’s victory as Teridax throwing the fight, but I’m ignoring that. It undermines Mask of Light’s story, plus Greg confirmed that Teridax legitimately lost to the Toa Metru and that wasn’t part of some master plan, so why not have him legitimately lose to Takanuva as well? Especially since in 2008, he clarified just how utterly terrified all the Makuta were of him, to the point of drastic actions to prevent a Toa of Light (not that Tridax without an E seemed perturbed, since he somehow defeated Takanuva in other timelines).
Mazeka asks himself, who can defeat Teridax? And decides… How about another Teridax? So how does OUR Teridax of the prime universe respond to this? Well, he remembers one of his last battles, the one that reduced him to a wisp of energy hopping from body to body, far too vulnerable for his liking. What can defeat a Teridax? How about a Takanuva that already has? Three of them, in fact, just to play it safe.
It’s weirdly poetic; In the end, no matter what universe or combination of them, Takanuva defeats Teridax, in a manner that takes them both out. It’s not like Greg seemed that interested in picking up the Shadow Takanuva storyline anyhow; He sets up Vezon to lead them, only for Vezon to be immediately whisked away on an Olmak adventure, with no explanation or transition for him putting on that mask instead of awakening the Shadow Takanuvas. And aside from a brief bit of one waking up during the Reign of Shadows…
Well, we have three unceremoniously massacred by Melding Teridax. We have two controversial, AU plot threads, resolved at once, in a way that echoes a classic Bionicle tale but in a very distorted, twisted way. Kill two birds, or two alternate selves, with one stone.
Of course, our Teridax knows this match-up might not go the way he wants; After all, the elements are swapped this time, and Light works as a counter to Shadow. That gives Melding Teridax an edge over any Shadow Takanuva… So better even it out with multiple Shadow Takanuvas, if not all of the ones that survived Destral.
They strike down Makuta just like in the original story, and when he gets up, this time it’s framed as a moment of heroic valor, rather than a nightmarish villain who won’t quit. It’s a dark, or bright, reflection of the first movie; Takanuva and Teridax both fall, and it’s up to a third party to escape a rumbling cavern. Because unlike last time, Mazeka can’t bring anyone back, not the wielder of Light, nor Takanuva.
This means Melding Teridax isn’t useless, because he’s at least good for taking down ONE unresolved threat, if not the one he was set up to do; And it’s a threat that he kind of has experience with, given what happens in the main universe. Same for the Shadow Takanuvas, who get to be a threat to someone worthwhile, and even kill them, albeit in a pyrrhic victory that comes across as a cruel mockery of Mask of Light’s climax.
After all, Mazeka, Melding Teridax, and the Shadow Takanuvas never show up after the battle in Ba-Koro. May as well make that their ending; Have Mazeka survive the second great cataclysm on his own, since most of the Matoran Universe’s population did. Granted, an ideal, alternate take on the story wouldn’t have any of these, nor would it have the ridiculous cop-out ending for Brothers in Arms...

Yo i did the descendent bionicle continuation and saw your reblog and i must know your idea
Ok so I tried to come up with stuff, but I ran out of ideas, so here's the most concrete stuff I have about both the hypothetical concept, and the equally-hypothetical meta stuff surrounding it:
It's a series rather than a film trilogy, with four seasons; the fourth one ends on a cliffhanger, with Tuma (who is there, I'll explain later) having just destroyed the school.
All the characters are human, with the exception of the Spherus Magna characters (again, I'll get to it later).
The villain protagonist characters are Teridax's fairly-generic daughter Therese, Roodaka's son Rodney, Nocturn's himbo son Noah, and Vezok's tomboyish daughter Violet. Noah stops appearing in Season 3 due his actor being cast in a film, and he's replaced by Mutran's "son" (that is to say, creation) Mike, who is basically the same character as Noah in terms of personality and plot-function, except as a Frankensteinian stitched-together monstrosity. The in-universe justification for him being written out is that he punched the school's gym so hard it collapsed.
The main hero characters are Tahu's mean-girl daughter Tina, Helryx's nerdy granddaughter Helen (who is one of three hero characters to be a protagonist), and Onua's himbo son Oscar. In Season 3, Hewkii and Macku's kids Henry and Marina start at the school, and are an extra set of protagonists who have their own plots.
Season 2 has a prom story-arc, where Therese wheres a white dress with big shoulder pads and gold gloves, which is a reference to Melding!Teridax. The arc's antagonist is Vakama's grandson, who invites Therese to the prom, then tries to trick her into using her shadow powers to destroy the school.
Takanuva is the principal.
Axonn is the school's caretaker. He stops appearing around the start of Season 4 due to his actor retiring, but the writers don't bother justifying it.
Season 4's plot has the Spherus Magna characters, who are now aliens, landing their spaceship and warning everyone of impending danger; however, the Skrall attack the school (and surrounding city), so the protagonists have to defeat them to save the world™. And then Therese delivers a big dramatic speech telling everyone heroic and evil, to rise up and save the world, dramatic music plays and... the credits roll. The show's over.
A few months after the show ends, it receives a Lab Rats: Elite Force-style crossover-sequel with a Hero Factory-themed monster-of-the-week series. It "resolves" the cliffhanger in a very anticlimactic way in a flashback at the start of the first episode (the Hero Factory heroes show up and apprehend Tuma, who doesn't even try resisting), and it ends up being cancelled after only 15 episodes, the last of which also ends on a cliffhanger, with Tuma breaking out of a Hero Factory prison-facility with a bunch of villains from the Hero Factory half of the crossover.
If anyone wants to add to this or draw what they think the characters would look like, feel free. Also, I might do a relationship chart possibly, unless someone does one first.

The Incredibly Evil Adventures of Takanuva: Part One
The Ussal was double-parked.
Correction. The Ussal was double-parked, again.
This particular Ussal, a sweet-tempered crab of medium size named Pai, was easily recognized by its edgy black paint job with red and blue racing stripes and spiked saddle. Pai had become a near-daily part of his patrol route and was the transport of choice for the most obnoxious criminal organization in all of New Atero. Wherever Pai was, they were never far away.
Not that the cacophony of banging drums and incoherent yelling hadn’t already tipped him off several bio away.
Toa Jaller sighed and gently nudged the crab over and lowered the divider between stalls. It purred happily as he wrote out a ticket on the strange new Agori paper pad and affixed it to the Ussal’s shell, which it proceeded to rip off and consume with a crabby squeal of joy.
And then Jaller proceeded to write another ticket and tucked it into the crab’s saddlebag and out of snacking range.
This was not exactly how Jaller was expecting his career as a Toa to go.
Despite the illegal parking job, Jaller noticed the owners had left the crab with a fresh trough of water, a generous pile of food, and had kindly pulled the shelter awning out to shield it from the warming afternoon. The owners had not left the crab wandering free this time. or in either of the handicapped spots closer to the entrance of the public gardens.
Hahli must have had a word with them again.
Jaller turned towards the entrance to the public gardens and began walking in to find the owners. It wasn’t hard, all he had to do was follow the blaring and significantly off-key music and wailing lyrics to its source.
There were Shadow Takanuvas everywhere.
Most were scattered around the lawns off the walkways, clearly ignoring the signs politely asking them not to step on the grass. Others were picking flowers from the planters to fashion crowns or wading in the fountain to pick up the coins thrown in the water. One particular go-getter was using a pen to scrawl “Have a BAD day” on a bench.
On the gazebo in the center of it all was a “band” of Takanuva attempting to play their way out of a wet paper bag, and failing. Badly. His Takua could never carry a tune in a bucket to save his life, and apparently neither could any of his alternate universe selves.
Another sigh. Jaller reflected that the Makuta that had kidnapped them had really not put too much thought into who it was they were trying to make an evil army out of. Taking the light out of someone took away their inherent good, but it didn’t make them magically better at being bad. Take 100 copies of a bumbling chronicler with no real drive or attention span, and a tendency to wander, and you got THIS.
When not under the direct control of a Makuta they simply wandered around town, causing mild annoyance before growing bored moving on to the next neighborhood. Most had no homes to return to, having already been taken over or destroyed by Teridax in their absence. With no Jaller or Hahli of their own to keep them in line, most had fallen into a depression that bolstered their shadow powers and made returning their light an impossible task. With nowhere to go and not causing enough damage to be worth jailing most had become a wandering annoyance that occasionally graduated to mild menace.
They had become largely his problem, since being a Jaller they tended to listen to him, at least as much as a pack of overgrown Takuas listened to anyone.
Speaking of which...
Jaller looked around for their “leader”. The most cunning and vicious of their number, he had once successfully taken candy from an unsuspecting Agori infant and defaced numerous surfaces with poorly spelled graffiti.
He was sitting on an overturned statue near the center of the chaos, grinning smugly at Jaller. Short, dark, and apparently a Toa from one of the melding universes Takanuva had spoken of visiting.
Shadow Takua stood and swaggered over, shadows trailing his steps, spreading wide his arms in mock greeting.
“Well well well, the Toa of Buzzkill is back boys!”
*Tickets, and the paper they were printed on, were rather new concepts to the former residents of the GSR.
*Authors Notes*
So this storyline is dedicated to and co-authored by the lovely @crystaltoa. It’s my first actual attempt at something longer than a headcanon post, and I’m sure it shows. There will actually be several storylines going along with this, but since I’m working fairly long hours finishing my PhD don’t expect the chapters to come out more than once in a blue moon.
Feedback is most welcome!

New MOC! Pakark, Makuta of Light!
Wiki Articles:
http://custombionicle.wikia.com/wiki/Pakark
http://es.bionicletales.wikia.com/wiki/Pakark
Short Bio:
As a member of the Brotherhood of Makuta, Pakark was responsible for the creation of several Rahi species to populate the universe. He specialized in the creation of small Rahi.
When Teridax demanded a meeting on Destral to become the new leader of the Brotherhood and reveal his plan to usurp the Great Spirit Mata Nui, Pakark was one of the five Makuta who remained loyal to Miserix. However, Teridax received the support of the majority of those present and became the new leader of the organization, banishing Miserix.
Knowing that Teridax would kill those who were disloyal to him during the meeting, Pakark hid on the island of Stelt, where he discovered his evolution into pure energy. Pakark's armor was not fit for this new form, so he was forced to abandon it and possess a Dark Hunter he had recently killed.
Eventually, the Brotherhood found the remains of Pakark's original body and recorded him as dead, but he had already infiltrated Odina and was assuming his role as a Dark Hunter. Thanks to his new body and his talent as an illusionist, he was not discovered.
Many years later, in Spherus Magna, Pakark was betrayed during the Chorak Invasion and tried to get revenge by using the legendary Mask of Wishes to destroy the world. He was defeated and imprisoned in the dungeons of Metru Magna, with special chains holding him to the wall of his cell. Vavakx paid him a visit and, when Pakark realized how low he had fallen, he broke and went insane.
A year later, using his purifying powers, Manauhk purged Pakark of all moral darkness and cured his madness, transforming him permanently into a Makuta of Light.
Powers
Being a Makuta, Pakark possessed elemental control over Shadows and the ability to use the 42 Kraata powers.
After being purged of all his moral darkness by Manauhk, his Shadow powers were replaced by Light, and several of his Kraata powers also changed. As a Makuta of Light, his new abilities include telekinesis, courage, and peace, similar to the Makuta of the Alternate Universe of the Melding.
Pakark is a master of illusions; since he was not in a position to reveal his true nature as a Makuta within the Dark Hunters, he was forced to perfect his disguise and refrain from using his other powers to protect himself. In battle, his illusions often become a valuable resource to hide his movements.
Pakark wore a Great Mask of Nightmares, but lost it when he left his original body. He also possesses a sword which he uses for combat and to channel his powers.

What do you think of the Teridax, Chirox, Gorast, Icarax, Vamprah and Takarrah from The Melding Parallel Universe?
I can’t say I’ve met any but Teridax.  I get on with him alright, but his self-righteousness gets under my armor like a desert flea and it  sits there and festers into utter intolerance and irritation.

There really should’ve been a moment where Mazeka recognizes the Shadow Takanuvas as the same Toa he left to die in Destral, under the justification of prioritizing his grudge on Vultraz. Likewise, Melding Teridax would call Mazeka out on this revelation, since he seemed critical of Mazeka’s obsession back in Brothers in Arms.
I think it would’ve made those story beats feel a lot more meaningful and less arbitrary if those pre-existing connections were acknowledged, after all; Have Mazeka consider his own morality and mistakes, that moment’s juxtaposition of condemning the Shadow Takanuvas, but also sparing Vezon’s life.
Additionally, I find it interesting that Vultraz told Mazeka that he’s a reminder of the person Vultraz could’ve been... Considering Mazeka is caught between two potential, alternate versions of people from his universe, I think there could’ve been a thematic callback to that quote. Could Vultraz really have been a better person in a different life, or was he just referring to the ‘demeaning’ life of a hard working, law-abiding citizen?
Reversely, could Mazeka have been as awful? Considering the things he’s already done... Seeing how Takanuva isn’t anymore immune to the path of darkness would be jarring; How much worse would Mazeka be with a Shadow Leech? Vultraz never needed one, but could you argue the same for Mazeka? Of course, we know there’s a Melding Mazeka who was a hero, so Melding Teridax could also tell our Mazeka about him.
I think there’s a recurring idea of different possibilities and paths you could’ve taken in life; The person you could’ve been, facing that distorted reflection, and your messy reaction to it. Vultraz straight-up admits to Mazeka he considers him a reflection, so the reverse should naturally apply. And when you have Takanuva and Makuta fighting one another in a photo negative take on events, it makes you wonder what could’ve been, the kind of existential crisis, regret, but also hope that comes with the multiverse.

You know what? My recent post has actually got me thinking about writing a begrudgingly canon-compliant fic where Melding Teridax and the remaining Shadow Takanuvas kill each other, as a way to resolve both plot threads, with Mazeka acting as a third party. We’ll call it Photo Negative; Referring to an image where light and dark are reversed, just as these polarities have been flipped for what is a classic tale of Takanuva VS Makuta. Photo on its own literally means Light, Light Negative… It’s perfect.
It’s kind of a tale of Nature Vs Nurture; Particularly regarding the potential of the Makuta species, contrasted against the Toa, with Mazeka acting almost like a judge of sorts. In the peaceful days, he and his mentor researched into the origin of the Makuta and how Mata Nui made them, so they do have a bit of knowledge regarding their ‘nature’ so to speak…
The story begins with Mazeka and Teridax exploring the newly-restored Spherus Magna, which Teridax finds to be much more familiar to his own home; They even end up traveling the same route they did in the Melding universe. As Mazeka ponders how his universe turned out differently compared to Teridax’s, and what that means for the truth about this world and Mata Nui himself… Uh oh, more Shadow Takanuvas! Turns out there are still a few more, and these others had hung back to watch the first three act as guinea pigs, so they could figure out how this version of Teridax fights and thinks, clearly different in personality due to being of Light.
Well, they’ve gotten the hint, and Takanuva has always been a quick thinker, a fast learner, in any universe. They attack Teridax, having learned from the mistakes of the first three, and begin chipping him down. Each Takanuva has had experience fighting and defeating their own Teridax, but luckily Melding Teridax just had the experience of defeating three Takanuvas. However, they’ve responded to Melding Teridax’s different approach, so experience seems even.
Luckily, Teridax has the power of Light, the ultimate counter to the Takanuvas’ Shadow; That balances things out and enabled him to kill the first three. But with their greater numbers, he might not make it out of here… But he fights anyway, using the full range of his other powers to survive and protect Mazeka at the same time; He might be willing to kill evil, but he isn’t going to sacrifice innocents to do so.
Mazeka finds this very surreal, because it’s Teridax he’s talking about; This is the man who betrayed the Great Spirit, and all of his brothers. This is the Makuta who became the Great Spirit himself… Except not exactly, because this Teridax never did any of that, and conquered his inner darkness long ago. He reflects on his mentor’s research into the Makuta species, ideas about them originating from Antidermis, and not being inherently beings of Shadow, not necessarily; The idea of a Makuta made of Antidermis, but not programmed with Shadow, was fully feasible.
And Teridax and his brethren in the Melding universe prove just that, so hey. Maybe the Makuta aren’t inherently evil, maybe it is just the result of Shadow’s influence… It’s clearly twisted a heroic Toa like Takanuva after all, and Mazeka has his critiques about holding Toa on a pedestal. Working for Helryx did not help those opinions, either. Though, Mazeka realizes he is partly to blame for the Takanuva situation; He didn’t save –or at least kill- them while they were in stasis when he had the chance, leaving them all to destiny… and destiny has responded.
We also get a glimpse into the mind of Teridax, who is a bit rattled to see exactly what he could and did do, in a world where he didn’t conquer his inner darkness. Luckily, that version of himself has already been dealt with, but still… Meanwhile, we see the perspective of another Takanuva, who reflects on his past as he continues to carefully observe and strike, every now and then.
We get the usual; He knows how to defeat Teridax. But he also recalls being kidnapped by Tridax, corrupted and drained of his light. What are his motives now? Believe it or not, he still cares for Jaller, Hahli, and the others… And plans to get them on his side by using a Shadow Leech to ‘free’ and persuade them. Tridax still had a few left over in his lab from Destral…
Similarly, Takanuva does consider if it’s really himself that’s making these choices, or if he’s just a puppet of Shadow’s influence; After all, look how Teridax has changed without it! And his pride objects to being a lackey, but on the other hand… Well, he remembers how he and the surviving Takanuvas woke up, freed other survivors in stasis. They planned to go out and claim this universe for themselves, but then this timeline’s Teridax had other plans.
Destral was always an extraneous part of the Great Spirit’s body, that’s why it could get away with teleporting. And with it already in ruins, this Teridax had no qualms with destroying it… He showed off his power, boiling the ocean around Destral, even as he cast powerful bolts of lightning and other devastating effects. Many of the Takanuvas were killed as they held out, until finally the rest agreed to serve Teridax.
That was humiliating, but getting to kill another Teridax as one of their first missions sort of made up for it, gave him a punching bag, technically the same person, to take revenge on. It was weird, and anyhow the Teridax who enslaved them had just died, so now there was this one left. And as someone who did wield Light, he was a legitimate threat to the Shadow Takanuvas, and was better taken out sooner than later…
Remember what I said, about the Takanuvas having retrieved a few Shadow Leeches from Tridax’s lab? Well, I’m thinking this really comes back to bite Melding Teridax; One of the Takanuvas opens up a Tridax pod, unleashing some Shadow Leeches. At least one latches onto Teridax, draining him of his light, and Mazeka is understandably terrified.
There’s two scenarios; Without his advantage of Light, Melding Teridax is finished off by the Takanuvas. OR… He manages to win anyway. But now full of Shadow, this makes him more or less the same as the Teridax who just died, in terms of personality, morality, etc. So just after prime Teridax was finished, a basically identical replica, an equal in terms of power and cunning, has risen up to take his place… Oh no.
Suddenly this side adventure brings enormous stakes, the return of Bionicle’s ultimate villain just after he’d died, and this time nobody knows nor expects it. Melding Teridax feels his inner darkness return and is reminded, feels inspired to follow in his alternate self’s foot steps; If prime Teridax can pull it off, clearly he can, having learned from the mistakes of his other self, just as these Takanuvas did the same for their predecessors.
I’m not entirely sure what happens with this bit; Does Teridax avoid being fully transformed, and ends up a Twilight Teridax, just as we had a Twilight Takanuva? I think that’s a nice compromise. Teridax kills the Shadow Leeches, much to the Takanuvas’ rage, and by this point he’s killed off all but one (It’s left ambiguous if this is the same one we saw the perspective of; They’re all Takanuva, so wouldn’t they think the same anyhow?). His Light has been diminished, he’s been whittled down by the other Takanuvas, AND he’s grappling with conflicting feelings as he tries to quell his inner darkness once more.
Melding Teridax falls back on a reminder; He’s beaten ‘himself’ before, in a sense. He can do it again, relying on the same training from before to conquer this inner darkness and bring Light. But right now… He has to defeat this final Takanuva. Mazeka meanwhile considers rescinding his improved opinion on the Makuta, as seeing Teridax struggle with his darkness makes him wonder if it really is inevitable for them to fall to evil, no matter how much progress they might initially make.
The battle goes on, Takanuva jokes about there being no energized protodermis to play kolhii with, which obviously confuses Teridax and Mazeka, the latter doesn’t know all the details of the fight in Mangaia. Of course, Takanuva adds, that’s probably a good thing since he doesn’t want end up fused with this guy again.
Even if there’s no kolhii, we still have a distorted, flipped version of Mask of Light’s climax; Takanuva and Makuta fighting, a rebuilt Matoran on the side, watching. In a dark, or bright, twist on old events, Teridax says something that sets off Takanuva, causing him to jump out and land a brutal attack that knocks Teridax down.
         With Teridax seemingly defeated, Takanuva turns his attention to Mazeka, easily taking him down; A wounded Toa will always triumph over an upgraded Matoran, much to Mazeka’s helpless chagrin. But as some defiant last words, he reminds Takanuva of why he chose Teridax from the Melding universe, over anyone else;
His logic was simple. What could defeat Teridax? Well, how about another Teridax? And obviously this universe’s Teridax responded to that same question, with Takanuva as his answer; Someone who already DID beat Teridax. But then, that leaves just one more question… What could defeat a Takanuva? And Mazeka’s answers is the same as his last one, another one.
There’s still one more Takanuva in this universe, the original who actually belongs here. And he’s a Toa of Light… If these Takanuvas were to fight, they’d be evenly matched, being the exact same in terms of skill and cleverness. But Mazeka’s Takanuva has the power of Light, and that will always triumph over this Shadow Takanuva; The Shadow Takanuva is doomed to fail.
At this point, Shadow Takanuva laughs, and explains that while on Destral, huddled together with his other selves in shelter against prime Teridax’s onslaught… They traded stories. Each Takanuva had something about their timeline, their version of the story, that was different or slightly diverged from the rest; Little details as which type of Rahkshi that Makuta used to stop the herald, whether it was Jaller or Hahli who went with them, that sort of thing.
So what’s this Takanuva’s difference? He explains that in the end, he’s figured out his timeline was the exact same as this one’s… With the only difference being that it ran ahead of the prime universe. So events that had already happened in this Takanuva’s universe, have yet to happen in the prime timeline; Meaning he’s basically from the future.
That means he knows everything prime Takanuva is going to do, everything that everyone else will do, and all the mistakes they’ll make. And armed with this knowledge, Shadow Takanuva can easily take control of this universe, and make it his own. Mazeka is naturally aghast at this, and as Takanuva moves in to finish him off…
Wait! Teridax isn’t down just yet. As a distorted reflection of Mask of Light’s climax, he rises once more, not as a stubborn nightmare that won’t end, but as an example of heroic valor. Teridax reminds Takanuva, having overheard, that they’re both outliers to this universe; So Shadow Takanuva’s knowledge of the future can’t account for either of them. This much was clear, as it didn’t do anything to help Shadow Takanuva when fighting Melding Teridax.
It didn’t help earlier in the battle, and it won’t help now; Teridax is someone Takanuva can’t predict. Both of them badly wounded, they rush each other, and end up finishing the other off, a mutual defeat that Mazeka can only watch; Just like in Mask of Light. The two succumb to their injuries, having their own brief moments of reflection in their final moments. Teridax ended up saving this universe from himself and Takanuva by getting them both killed.
Mazeka is left alone, and also has to reflect on everything that happened. His stance on the Makuta has changed again; Maybe Teridax would’ve succumbed eventually had he not died, but it seems he still put in the effort to conquer his inner darkness, all over again. Make the Makuta aren’t inherently cursed, maybe the Antidermis is capable of good… And what happened to the original source, anyhow? Maybe Mazeka should go off and find it, vouch for a restoration of the Makuta species, based on everything he’s seen. They can conquer their nature, and maybe it isn’t anymore immune to corruption than that of the Toa’s.
Mazeka notes how Takanuva and Makuta fought and defeated each other, all over again. But things were switched, light and shadow, good and evil; It was Makuta who truly won this time, for example. Likewise, the Great Spirit has fallen in a Great Cataclysm, all over again… But as Makuta, rather than Mata Nui.
Mazeka knows that his Teridax survived against Takanuva, barely. Maybe Melding Teridax did too, a reverse of familiar events? But no, Melding Teridax would not hide his survival from Mazeka, he truly is dead. With Vultraz and his own Teridax dealt with, Mazeka decides to honor his friend’s sacrifice by helping redeem the Makuta species in his universe, and restore the Brotherhood with his knowledge on how they were made. He sets out to regroup with the Order of Mata Nui, and find the source of Antidermis.
I might have an epilogue where Mazeka comes across fellow Order member Brutaka, possessed by the Antidermis. And the Antidermis is still loyal to Mata Nui, so with this and his own experiences in mind, that will just further cement Mazeka’s support for a new Brotherhood, with Miserix being given a chance at redemption; After all, so was Brutaka. And as someone who also escaped the darkness, who saw firsthand in his mind the Antidermis’ intent… Brutaka also agrees. And he can’t help but be intrigued when Mazeka relays what he saw of Melding Teridax and his redemption.
After all, Brutaka’s redemption was motivated in part by seeing just how much worse, how much more evil this universe’s Teridax was. So it makes him wonder if even prime Teridax could’ve changed for the better, or if he’d done too much by that point that it had been too late for him, unlike Melding Teridax. Who knows…? He’s also familiar with the story of an Olmak causing shenanigans with Takanuva and alternate timelines, but not the way Mazeka had his…! He also asks what happened to the other Olmak, and Mazeka suddenly realizes he has no idea, since the Shadow Takanuvas didn’t have it… And if neither Mazeka nor Tobduk took it, then that leaves-
Suddenly Mazeka wonders if he made a mistake sparing Vezon, after all. Whoops. Little does he know, allowing Vezon to live allowed Vezon to take the Olmak and accidentally use it to transport Mazeka to the Melding universe... Meaning if he never spared Vezon, Melding Teridax wouldn’t have been there to stop the Shadow Takanuvas. So, maybe not a mistake...
