Origin Shards
Okay so- one of the biggest issues I've had with switching around the timeline/ making one singular timeline (there's many but this' one of the more obvious ones) is the 'Mega timeline', where ORAS happens after XY- But! I think I've found a solution for that. (*Note: I haven't played Oras... yet)
As the title reads- I've thought up of Origin Shards!
Basically, yaknow how mega stones all kinda look like marbles? Well, Origin Shards are the unrefined/raw version of mega stones! Just straight shards from the meteors that Rayquaza breaks*; so kinda like how wishing stars are. Origin shards can still be refined into the stones- but at the time they just weren't known as Mega Stones. It's obvious where I got the name from lmao (Rayquaza should've been named Origin not mega-)
Origin Shards were originally found in Hoenn; but instead of being something brand new like how Mega-evos are in XY, Origin Shards are more of a common thing- they're still fairly rare, but not as rare as in XY (Where only the player gets a key stone, and the mega stones are hidden.)
Now when it comes to the professors Birch and Sycamore; I'm thinking that maybe Birch (who's field is in pkmn habitats) either already had his field, and couldn't focus on the OS/MS; or he assumed that Origin forms mattered due to habitats, rather than the shards themselves. Regardless, it wouldn't be until years later when Sycamore took up researching them directly- when they also started to appear in Kalos.

Sudden thought while re-reading Ashes of the Past:
If Mega Stones are the result of the Ancient Kalosian Weapon activating 3,000 years before the games' setting, how does Mewtwonite X/Y exist?
Because Mewtwo didn't exist until one to two decades before the games.
This implies that Team Rocket, at least, has the capability to create custom Mega Stones.

We are now some 2.5 months away from the 10th anniversary for the airing of the Strongest Mega Evolution Act I. I am excited!
Prompts for the week:
Day 1 - April 3rd: Anniversary / Pokémon Catching
Day 2 - April 4th: First Time / Miare (Lumiose City) / Dragon
Day 3 - April 5th: Mission / Family / Break
Day 4 - April 6th: Hoenn / Mask / Release
Day 5 - April 7th: Trip / Dark / AU
Day 6 - April 8th: Love / Memorabilia / Legend
Day 7 - April 9th: FREE DAY
1) How to participate?
Pick the prompt that you like best for each day of the week, create a fanwork for it and post it on tumblr, tagging #tsmeweek2024 or #tsme10thanniversary! You can also pick several prompts for one day to combine, or mix prompts from different days, as you wish. You can switch days up as well! Go wild!
All forms of fanworks are accepted! Fanarts, crafts, fanfic of any lengths, cosplays... Pick the medium you prefer!
Prompts can be interpreted however you want. If you pick "Miare" and want to depict an alternate ending for the Flare Crisis where everyone dies, go for it! Creativity is welcomed! Does "Break" mean "mental breakdown", "take a coffee break" or "break.....fast"? Up to you!
Don't worry about having to participate every day of the week. Just do what you can!
Once you publish a fanwork, don't forget to tag #tsmeweek2024 or #tsme10thanniversary! Those are the tags that will be scoured to be reblogged on this blog.
2) Does PokéAni XY&Z count? What counts as TSME?
The rules are lax. The XY&Z season of PokéAni definitely counts, as TSME characters played a very important role in it. So does the World Championships in Journeys, since Alan appeared in it. As a basic principle, so long as it involves a character that appeared in Act I-IV of TSME, it counts as TSME.
So yes, you can absolutely create a fanwork about Daigo/Steven exploring Hoenn with Shouta/Sawyer, or Pachira/Malva dating Carnet/Diantha if your heart desires. You can also create fanworks with TSME characters and characters they never interacted with in canon!
3) Other rules
This blog will have ship art and will accept any ship. Do not harrass people over ships.
Racy pieces or pieces with content warnings will be accepted on the blog and tagged with a "n/sfw" tag and "cw" tag. For viewers who do not want to risk seeing any such pieces, you can block these 2 tags.
As an artist with a n/sfw or cw piece, please help making the blog friendly for all, by putting the full art under a preview and read-for-more. Please tag the full cw as well!

Annie huffed still as she made it back to the room, Captain opening the door with no comment, just letting herself collapse onto the bed and wheeze. She hugged the wimpy little pillow that she was only allowed for her damaged neck tube.
The door shut with a whir from the electronics.
“What was that?… I’ve never done that before,” She thought to herself out loud as she looked at the empty wall across from the bed, “It felt good…”
She almost hit the ceiling as Banny commented, “What did?”
She floated herself back down with a sigh to calm down and set down the pillow as the banette sat down on the end of the bed, “I… I don’t know what it was. I felt cornered. I was pinned and his claws were hurting my hands cause that electricity pain… and I just, snapped. I felt all of my frustrations burn in my chest and then all my pain vanished and I just… went at him to stop the fight fast…”
“Huh, sounds pretty cool. And you liked it?” He didn’t seem to give away if he knew or didn’t, just smiling supportively.
She looked down at him from where she floated and then to the floor, running those feelings in the moment back through her head, “Yeah… yeah I really did. Like a release. That I could finally end my own pain…”
“Then isn’t that what matters? How you feel about it?” He smirked, “How’re your ha-a-ands- what the hell?!” His eyes were wide at the bloody bandages, “I’m sorry for overlooking that… guess I should hold the book again today?”
She looked down at the blood soaked bandages and the empty space of one finger. That slight shaking as she couldn’t hold them still no longer bothering her, “Please? I’m pretty tired. And it’s okay, I kind of forgot too. It doesn’t hurt anymore…”

Annie woke at that whir and glared at the Zoroark in the doorway, “What now?” She sighed out with contempt.
They narrowed thier eyes at her with a small show of thier fangs at her attitude, “Get up. You’ve got another training session…”
She curled her lip but floated up from the barely comfortable slab to float herself behind them. The motion a requirement to not irritate her wounds.
It felt short despite remembering how long the trip felt that very first time.
This door opened and she nearly froze at seeing him.
The mightyenna.
That damned mightyenna.
And he wasn’t alone. The hydreigon was with him.
She turned to the door ready to scream at the Captain for doing this or to try and run as her heart raced but that mechanical door was slammed shut.
Annie turned back to see them charging.
Her heart was in her throat remembering the pain. That first blinding burning hot pain from the dog pokemon.
The bright arena turned black with the shadows looking white again as her frustrations boiled up and for a moment that energy enveloped her.
When it came back she slammed a glowing ball into the leaping dog and easily dodged the now slow seeming attacks from the hydriegon before dashing it to hit it with Psy slash sending it to the other side crashing into the mightyenna.
Over before it started.
Annie huffed and let go of the energy with a sigh. That was it. She wasn’t going to come here again. They can’t make her, she won’t let them make her. She turned to leave not even looking at the Captain when the door opened to them. Just shoving past to go to the bedroom…

She kept the book as steady as she could, hands pressed to her chest to keep them still and tail draped over the edge of the slab that was a poor excuse of a bed.
The story was almost over. Hero going over the fiery mountains to face the mythical beast of the volcano-
At the door opening and feeling that presence she gave no hesitation, just following her surge of emotions at what she knew came with every time they opened that damned door, “NO!”
Captain had to duck a bolt of energy, they looked a bit baffled a moment before hiding it, “You’ll regret not listening to me… the humans are worse.”
“THEN ILL BLAST THEM TOO! YOU WONT MAKE ME FIGHT ANYMORE!” she screamed both with her voice and protected out with her psychic.
Captain scurried out of the way of another bolt, this one causing a small boom against the hallway wall.
The door closed and she took a moment to calm, letting out the energy with a sigh. It worked… no more pain. She finally had control of herself… She didn’t even know that was something she wanted, but it felt amazing.
