Honestly reminds me of a game idea I had a few years back. First half of the game, you're an amnesiac in the middle of a warzone who starts slowly gaining followers and forming an army to stand against either or both sides. Then, at the start of the second half, it turns out that you used to be a god and got cast down somehow, but your new army has so much belief in you that it reignites your godspark and you ascend.
The choices you made as a leader affect some stats, but as soon as you ascend they freeze in place and it becomes a tactical game where you can bless or curse, but otherwise cannot outright interfere in the war you once fought in. But also because of your deification, you don't care that you can't directly help your followers that were once your friends.
more stuff about becoming a god being inherently dehumanizing pls

My first thought was actually "so Japan wasn't the only culture to see a moon rabbit. Fascinating!"

Something I wish had been taught was the International Phonetic Alphabet and how each symbol is said, because that would make figuring out pronunciations so much easier.
learning that apparently several hundred people have been pronouncing 'miette' as 'mighty' has actively worsened my day

I have one of this hat. I used to also have a matching coat, but I don't know where it went, and that actually makes me sad. It was fun to wear them together.

Since I have the feeling it was my post using "titan" you are referring to, I'll explain why I'm using it.
So, in this fantasy setting of mine, there are twelve elements and each has a monster that is made purely of that element and formed naturally in the wild, but I wanted a more evocative name for them than just "[element] elemental." So the fire ones are called Emberites and the lightning ones are Astrali. But I was kinda stumped on what to call the earth ones, especially when a hunt through mythology turned up almost nothing.
The only earth elemental creature I could find was alchemy's "gnome" as the counterpart to salamander (fire), undine (water), and sylph (air). And since the earth elementals were going to be generally three meters tall and looking like bulky humanoids, gnome wasn't going to cut it.
I tried out "talos/talus" for a while, but it didn't quite match because Talos was a construct. The Greek Titans, though, were formed of nature, being the children of Ouranos and Gaea. So something born of earth and with a name that had come to share meaning with large fit beautifully.
I am in complete agreement with you and, from what i understand to be, basically every jew on the planet that the creatures called Golem in dnd/ttrpgs/gaming/etc are, generally speaking, very much not golems. I say "generally speaking" because i am aware of a few ttrpgs that are jewish and are using the term to specifically refer to the creature from Jewish lore. I think those are valid exceptions? Although it would be more accurate to say that my word choice has more to do with not being an expert on the topic and wanting to avoid saying anything that i am not 100% sure of. All that being said though, the proper naming of those creatures in dnd is something that borders on being a special interest of mine and woefully i dont know anyone that actually cares enough about the topic to discuss it with me irl. So my question is this. Given that 1) we are both in agreement that those creatures are not golems. And 2) You at least appear to be at minimum somewhat knowledgeable on the topic. Would you be willing to discuss what the proper name for that kind of construct should be instead? I habent been able to come up with a name i like and i would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on the matter. If not, then thank you for your time.
There is no discussion here. They’re called homunculi. It’s that simple.

That definitely sounds like an accent thing, because "reel" is one syllable to me, the double "e" making a single long "e" sound.
Though, saying it aloud, the diphthong switch to the "l" after the "ee" does make it very nearly a second syllable all on its own. Fascinating.
Just checking.... We all pronounce Miette like My-TAY in our heads, right?

It is a way to say it. I have also heard it said as "Ee-thee-ree-all." Long e at the front and some emphasis on the third e.
Though I am now reminded of a conversation I had with my dad once while we were on a canoe trip, where he talked about how the only difference between nether and ether was the n, but to hear someone say "eh-ther" instead of "ee-ther" (since nether is said "neh-ther") would sound slightly off.
The word I'm unsure of is "chitin." Because I've heard it said as "chit-in" and as "ky-tin."
Just checking.... We all pronounce Miette like My-TAY in our heads, right?

By the way. If you think what’s happening at Columbia is “peaceful protest” in spite of all evidence to the contrary, you can unfollow me right the fuck now. And don’t bother sending me nasty shit, I’ll just block your pathetic ass.
They have accomplished NOTHING except stochastic terrorism and I hope every one of their lives is ruined for it.

Interesting worldbuilding idea:
There are many cultures in history that declared that only one unmaimed could take rulership. So what of a country, probably with a very martial background, where the ruler must have a terrible wound?
Granted, that's fuzzy wording, but most cultures with those kinds of rules weren't the most descriptive of what it meant outside of "a lot of us agree."
So, for example, a lord of these folks would have been someone who lost a foot, or an eye, or an arm, or something equally grievous.
And then, one day, someone is nominated as ruler who was born unable to walk. And the ones who nominated them say "look at what life has done, maimed by the very act of being born, should this person not qualify above all others as having a terrible wound?"
And there I dropped into my own storytelling habit. Still, an interesting thought...

So today I had a second polyamorous dream. The first one was months ago now, but it consisted of me getting ready to cook something, then poking my head into the living room to ask my partner if she and our girlfriend (who was sitting in her lap) wanted anything in particular. Which basically cracked a polyam egg I didn't realize was there.
This one had me at some event at the nearby county park (sort of; dream terrain made it look different to the real place) and a girl whose name was apparently something like Marchapril May kept flirting with me and I somehow realized it was flirting (which is a huge ask in the waking world).
I kept deflecting and standing by my wife (we had our wedding rings in-dream, even though its been less than a week since we married) as an attempt to "get the hint," but she was persistant. After some dream-time passed, I was talking with my sister and my wife was in a pavilion with this Ms. May talking about things, where I'm 75% sure she was flirting there, also.
So after waking up, I realized that I'd told my wife that I may be more poly than I thought, but never asked her what she thought of it. She needed some time because she'd actually never thought about it herself before.

I think it depends on what they're made of; dirt or stone, they're elementals. Metal, go with talus after the Greek construct of the same name. Flesh? Yeah, homunculus fits closest.
My fantasy setting's earth elementals are actually called titans because it's surprisingly difficult to find earth elemental spirits in myth and folklore. Nearly all of them are wind, fire, water, or something a bit esoteric.
