Hey! i’m really into the dbch story and i was wondering if doc and xisuma ever tell bdubs the specifics of why etho lost his memories, cause if they do that is prime self blaming angst for bdubs
I’m inclined to believe they don’t. Actually (and maybe I should do a small comic for this so more people see it) I imagine, once a month or a few pass and they finally return etho to bdubs as reset, I imagine they are VERY serious about warning bdubs not to try to force Etho to re-deviate— they don’t go into specifics, but they probably tell bdubs that whatever happened had to do with something that was emotionally overwhelming, and that forcing him to redeviate/not letting it happen naturally could trigger the same error. They have no idea what could happen so bdubs needs to be very careful and let Etho find himself again on his own.
Whether or not bdubs gets impatient or can only go so long before he doubts it would be that bad if he tried pushing Etho in the right direction is another story.
But yeah. I don’t think Xisuma or Doc really… tell anyone that this happened. Etho’s error seemed like a very specific one-off scenario, so it’s not something the other hermits should be trying to avoid or be careful about happening to their own android friends, and the only thing telling people would do is make them worried about the situation. All they need to know is that etho was broken and that they need to be careful with him. I don’t agree with their decision to keep what happened to themselves but I understand it I think. Xisuma “i don’t want to worry the hermits” Void and Docm “eh this isn’t the first time I’ve replaced this arm, people won’t question it” 77

spending all of Harrow the Ninth drowning in Harrow's grief and seeing the gaping maw that Gideon's death has rent into her whole existance, and then getting smacked in the face by Nona the Ninth and the apperance of Kiriona Gaia and realizing that Gideon really just does not know. Gideon does not fucking know how much Harrow loves her. Gideon thinks she was abandoned and thrown away and that she gave her life for nothing and based on the information she has avalible to her that is like, a totally reasonable assumption.
head in hands i understand why she wanted to become Kiriona. she spent her childhood being told she was nothing and no one, abused by everyone who could have shown her care. she learned that she was created only to be a bomb. the one thing she had was Harrow. and then she felt like Harrow abandoned her, threw her away like trash. just like everyone else. fuck. no wonder she wants to just be the Daughter of God. no wonder she shed her name, given to her by the Ninth that hated her and the Mother that only created her for slaughter. no wonder she wants to reject everything that had rejected her. fuck.

amanda bumping into someone as she’s walking out of a shop and being all jesus, do you wanna watch where you’re fucking going, because she’s in kind of a shitty mood, only to cut herself off almost immediately when she looks up and is face to face with alison no-longer-gordon who’s just all sorry, god, my heads all over the place at the moment and amanda’s standing there, wide eyed like yeah .. it’s uh- it’s ok .. i’m just gonna- and goes to leave but then alison looks at her for a minute, because she thinks she recognises her, and amanda tells her that no, they’ve never met and then alisons like oh i saw you in the paper, you were the one who- and stops herself and amanda’s like yeah .. that’s me and they talk for a bit because alison is the first person who doesn’t seem morbidly interested or overly sympathetic to the point it feels fake and .. yeah she’s being nice which amanda doesn’t know what to do with plus she’s easy to talk to and gets it a little and amanda finds that she doesn’t really want to stop talking because, hell, a pretty lady stops you and looks at you like that and says all these words, compliments you, even (yeah .. that’s going in the diary) you’re not trying to run away, right? and all too soon alison is like well, it was nice talking to someone, you know .. and she smiles in a way that has amanda frantically digging around in her pockets for a scrap of paper and a pen to give alison her number, y’know .. if you ever uh- if you ever need someone to talk to. about anything or- or not, whatever, it’s stupid .. and alison tilts her head in a way that has amanda trying her absolute best to ignore the fact that, yeah, she’s most definitely blushing now, and carefully folds the paper and puts it in her purse with a bigger smile than she had before and tells amanda that she’ll be sure to call her and says that maybe they could meet for coffee sometime and they part with a take care of yourself, sweetheart and a y- yeah, um, see ya .. around .. and amanda feels, for what must be the first time in forever, like she’s on cloud nine. yeah. something like that

saw a post talking about bethany and carver and how strange their fanon characterizations are, and tumblr kept messing up and i couldn’t reblog it, so i’m making my own post with what i put in the tags
bethany and carver both hate their lives, even before they come to kirkwall. the difference is that carver blames hawke for it, while bethany blames herself. and i think some of the reason the former gets so much more meta/sympathy/etc is because self-esteem issues are a muddy and uncomfortable thing to talk about, and it’s easier to talk about carver’s issue. he has a scapegoat and a built-in success story: as soon as he strikes out on his own, he’ll be all right
i think bethany is less popular for a lot of reasons. first of all, mage seems to be a disproportionately popular class, so some people would never even meet her. also, she doesn’t make a very strong first impression. a lot of people think she’s bland so they wouldn’t be interested in keeping her in the party and getting to know more about her. because at first glance, she is the mild-mannered polite perfect daughter character. that’s who she has to be, because it averts suspicion from the templars if she follows the rules, sure, but also because it’s how she makes it up to her family for being a mage. they’ve already done so much for her without even asking; how could she possibly inconvenience them any more? she’s a burden just by existing, so she has to do everything she can, be as unobtrusive as possible, to make up for that
