My extremely minor quibble with Stray Gods is that of all the reprises at the end, only Apollo's is a duet. Like, I adore all the reprises, but for the culmination of the romances, how come only the sad surfer dude gets the duet?

#i can only surmise that a duet version of “if only (reprise)” would be too powerful #same with you and i and let's have this dance #maybe they were like #hey even at the end of his character arc apollo still needs some moral support #stray gods #stray gods spoilers #(this is like. a half-joking complaint.)#i think it's powerful to have persephone pledging herself to you #and pan promising to do better kind of #and freddie being able to express herself fully #but as a sucker for romantic duets i was sort of bummed #that my least favorite of the love interests had the only duet reprise

gah. this is the same problem I had yesterday. plagued by keeper memories that r literally so bad I've never spoken of them to anyone or even written them down for myself. and adolin shift.

part of the problem is I don't have any adolin memories that r Of the same level as the keeper ones. so my brain keeps automatically going back to the worst. most of my worst adolin memories involve My life being in danger. but the bad keeper ones are far far much worse. my life is generally nothing compared to those I love.

and I feel. not even a lack of empathy toward my own life but an active. i should be dead. feeling. part kinnie part now who can tell. either way. its rough. sorry.

The more I think about the last minutes the more I’m sure Crowley was saying goodbye from the minute Aziraphale told him he’d said yes to Heaven. He doesn’t confess his love like he’s hopeful, he confesses it like a eulogy. He doesn’t kiss him to make a beginning, he kisses him to seal the end. He watches him go like it’s the last time.

Crowley knows Heaven. He knows they’ll want to either make Aziraphale just like them, or destroy him. Either way I think he believes he’s seen his angel for the last time.

Amatonormativity has destroyed so many people's understanding and acceptance of themselves, and it's heartbreaking.

Yes, it is normal to be in your 20s, 30s, or older and not have lost your virginity, had a first kiss, or a partner. It is normal to say that you aren't ready for those things, too! It is normal if your life doesn't follow the "college graduate -> engagement -> buying a home -> 2.5 kids and a dog" trajectory that so many people have idealized.

So many people associate maturity with losing your virginity, or having a first kiss, or a serious relationship, and I think that's a dangerous association. Maturity isn't gained through those things, and you don't have to have those experiences to be considered "mature" or "grown." It is not a bad thing to go at your pace. Nobody else can live your life but you. If you end up having those experiences, that's great! But it should be done because you want to experience them, not because you feel "broken" and "immature" without them.
