Comic Book Saturday
This was such a cute book, and quite a fun Muppet take on Peter Pan. There are quite a few differing parts, definitely one of them being the fact that there is no 'Indian' tribe in this (good call) and even the point of the story is a little bit on its side. I liked how Janice was used not just in the usual Wendy way, but also the Janice character from the Muppet Show got to show through as well. Not to mention, who can say no to a Captain Gonzo who --wants-- to be shot from a cannon? Heh…

Rest be assured, for there are still new original Nicktoons that have already been announced from Nickelodeon long before yesterday's Upfront!
- Zokie Sparkleby: This series follows a girl/vlogger named Ruby who befriends an alien.
- Rock, Paper, Scissors: It's exactly what you (may) have expected -- a talking rock, paper and scissors respectively but are also roommates! Wacky adventures ensue!
- If you watch Nick Jr., there's also Hamsterdale: a group of hamsters who believe their human is their king.
- Oh, there's also Max and the Midknights, created by Big Nate's Lincoln Pierce! It's based on the books, but it's really good and I recommend checking them out!
- Other series in development: Real Pigeons and Phoebe and Her Unicorn, based on a book series and comics, respectively.

I’m gonna make a list of underrated book recs cause... hooo boi these books need more recognition...
Aight, first off: The Witch Trilogy (that’s what I call em) by Molly Knox Ostertag - The Witch Boy, The Hidden Witch, and The Midwinter Witch - are honestly a breath of fresh air when it comes to the graphic novels I’ve read. Two huge main themes in these books are rebelling against set gender roles and healing from ostracism and rejection, which I think are two very important things that I haven’t seen many other books tackle. The visuals are just - *chef kiss* MMMM 😫👌. I think my favorite part of this trilogy, though, is the worldbuilding. This gal fits a whole WORLD and culture of magic into 3 books - and it’s not as if she reserves all the lore for the first book, oh no. With each book, she gives us new lore to chew on, while also incorporating it into the plot in interesting and engaging ways. Overall, 10/10, would recommend.
I’m sure you’re familiar with the Big Nate series, right? Well, the author of that series, Lincoln Pierce, also wrote and illustrated a book titled Max And The Midknights. It’s an adventure book set in the Middle Ages, with the same witty humor and great characterization as seen in the Big Nate series. I’ve also read the sequel - MATM: Battle of the Bodkins - recently, and I gotta say, it has a REALLY creative take on the whole bodysnatcher/imposter trope with the bodkins. I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it yet, but the whole concept is just- *chef kiss* 👌 so good!

Life got away from me, and it’s not looking like there will be any significant changes any time soon. Lennox Luthor-Danvers, AKA Powerman: Son of Kara Danvers and Lena Luthor
⁃ I’m basing him off 90s Superboy because that will always be my favorite character design. He’s an annoying little shit and he lives to be a nuisance
⁃ Crashes into LexCorp Tower and is all “YO UNCLE LEX I NEED SOME CASH”. And Lex keeps putting up defenses but that little brat keeps wrecking them and getting in again anyways. He never fights Lex or poses as a threat to him, he just needs a couple bucks for a slushee, my guy
⁃ Raised by gay moms so he is a tad fruity. Wears crop top and high heeled boots sometimes, Olive teases him for it but like, does she have room to talk? She’s more of a guy than he is so they balance the team out
Tony Wayne, AKA Midknight: Son of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle
⁃ “I am Darkness, I am the Knight-“
⁃ Literally still in his emo phase from middle school, he’s very quiet and grumpy and just wants to get shit done but his idiot teammates have other plans apparently
⁃ He’s 19, two years older than his half sister, Kitty. He was raised by his father and while he does see his mother often, it’s usually when he’s arresting her. He tries to get her to stop and just be his mom but she has another kid that follows her lifestyle (whom he also tries to get to straighten out)
⁃ He is so sick of people (Freddie) stealing his batarangs and mocking his voice (which is also deep like his fathers, which he copies). And if you call him Tony the Tiger he will bitch slap you so hard-
Maximus Prince, AKA Gladiator: Son of Diana Prince and Steve Trevor
⁃ Don’t try to explain to him that Gladiators are Roman, not Greek. He doesn’t care, he just thinks it sounds cool. But if someone else got Greek history or mythology wrong he’d correct them. Also chose his mother’s last name cause it sounded cooler than ‘Max Trevor’
⁃ He’s super outgoing and optimistic, he’s always looking on the bright side. Like, Giganta could’ve just kicked his teams ass and he’s just like “I think we can all learn a valuable lesson from-“ “SHUT UP, MAXIMUS.”
⁃ Literally just think Steve Rogers, that is this dude. Snaps at people when they cuss, holds open the door for everyone, is proud to serve Themyscira despite never being there before, just super chivalrous and charming
