Image Description:
An iteration on a popular meme format, edited to include figures from Roman history. The original version of the meme is a crudely drawn MS paint illustration of a sad looking dude standing in the corner of a party looking on as people dance and have a good time. The meme always includes the text "they don't know" over the man's head, showing his thoughts. And then when someone edits the meme, they add onto that phrase. In this iteration, the heads of the illustrated people have been replaced with cropped photos of heads from ancient Roman sculptures of famous people.
The man in the corner is now Augustus (Octavian) Caesar and he is labeled "Octavian about to absolutely wreck everyone's shit." The text above his head reads "They don't know I'm the scariest bitch in the Mediterranean." His eyes are glowing red.
At his feet lays the dead body of Julius Caesar, cropped from a painting and covered in crudely-added digital blood. A label pointing to the body reads, "Julius Caesar (super assassinated)".
The crowd of people that Octavian is looking at is labeled, "Lepidus Antony, Cassius, Brutus, Decimus, and half of Rome fighting for control," with arrows pointing to the respective images of those men. A separate label points to the man in the middle of the group and says "Cicero attempting to preserve the Republic".
Next to Octavian is small red text with hashtags that read "hashtag gonna go full Michael Corelone on these motherfuckers" and "hashtag Your Asses Delenda Est." (This is a play on "Karthago Delenda Est", which means "Carthage Must Be Destroyed" in Latin and was a very memorable political slogan in Roman history leading up to the utter destruction of the city of Carthage. This phrase was so memorable, in fact, that the English speech-to-text program I use recognized the phrase and spelled it correctly on my first attempt! Which is very unusual for a Latin phrase that has absolutely no modern-day uses!)

Two thousand and fifty three years ago today, August 1st, in 30 B.C., Marc Antony committed suicide by falling on his own sword. He had suffered serious desertions among his troops the day before during the Battle of Alexandria, and, despite an early victory, the desertions proved too much and he was ultimately defeated. After returning to Alexandria, he received false information that his wife, Cleopatra VII, had already taken her own life.
After the grief stricken man had already stabbed himself he was told she wasn’t really dead, and he was taken to her where she was in hiding with her ladies in her mausoleum. The doors had been barred against intruders and the dying man had to be hauled up to her through an open window. He survived for only a few minutes after he reached her, and died in Cleopatra’s arms.
Cleopatra herself would take her own life eleven days later, and her three children with Antony taken to Rome to be raised by his third wife, Octavia Minor. With Cleopatra’s death, and the subsequent murder of her eldest son, Caesarion, Egypt became a Roman Province.

Red Jasper Sealstone Intaglio of Heroic Antonius.
Roman c 40-30BC
L: 1.40 cm/W: 1 cm
An exceptionally clear profile portrait, with long, tousled hair, the locks carefully delineated and no beard. The nose is hooked, the slightly open mouth downturned and the chin prominent. The features resemble those of Mark Antony on some of his coin portraits, and the bust ends at the neck.

I am studying Archeology and I swear, Roman history is so fucking funny.
After Ceasars Death the second triumvirate decided to build a temple for Caesar, who was named a god (Divus Iulius) Part of that triumvirate was ofc Mac Antony
He then had a bit of beef with Octavian which led to a big naval battle (Cleopatra was also involved bc she supported Marc Anthony)
Long story short: Octavian won and took the battering rams of the ships of Cleo and Antony as trophy.
He than placed them on the frontside of the Temple of Divus Iulius, the very same temple Marc Antony helped to build/finance.
Imagine you support the building of a temple, only for it to become a symbol of your failure
