Bernadette, an i3 female ghost nymph.

For context, here's another nymph! Much lighter in color.

Ghosts are known to display a variety of colors, with nymphs and adult females able to display various shades of brown, beige, yellow/gold, green, grey, and even black!

My three females, pictured below, are Green (Dora), Gold (Freyah) and Brown (Demeter).

Males, on the other hand, are very lithe and nimble as adults, and despite showing color as nymphs, they generally end up the same color as adults. Four separate adult males (the fathers, all brothers) are pictured below.

is race/ethnicity a biological category in your stories? i know they change over extremely long periods of time due to evolution but other than that you mentioned biology will “select for a stable phenotype”, could you explain that further and how that relates to cultural groups sharing biology that is separate from other culture groups?

Amber Skies strains basically work like dog breeds, but with even greater morphological diversity. Communities of the same strain may develop sub-ethnicities, and cross-breeding between morphologically different strains is only really limited by being able to physically have sex with each other.

If two different strains have sex, its most common for their children to be one strain or the other, but genetics are genetics! Its possible to have children of a new, but genetically unstable strain.

Think of it like this: If two mules have children, their kids will more than likely be either horses or donkeys. If mules start producing mules, you've got the makings of a new strain.

For example, Kip is a half-breed. Physically, he is half Teykorile, and half Voath, but culturally he was raised Teykorile. His skin and respiratory system is Teykorile, but he has the Voath height, and webbing on his fingers and toes.

Given the sheer physical diversity of people and cultures. You could be a big fish, but your mom could be a giant praying mantis, and your dad could be a gaming PC with legs. This is recognized as normal. How individual mixed-strain people are treated largely depends on the culture, period, and personal experience. Just like nowadays.

This is made even more complicated by the fact that some strains are ethnocultures, or ethnoreligions. It is actually possible to be CULTURALLY a giant honeybee, but PHYSICALLY a clam. Just like nowadays.

Her working name has been Madeleine but I'd prefer something more Asian, because I don't want a subplot explaining how Iroh acquires madeleines in the AtlA world. This should be something served at his shop, or available readily in town, so Zuko can impulse-name his new Snarly McBadIdea Pet. Also I cannot for the life of me spell Madeleine without a google search, so there's that.

Also wanted: names for Toph's delicate seeing-eye shrimp-badger, who is a well breed and hard-working lady and therefore deserves a ludacris beefy Earth-Rumble-type name
