I never really had enough time to do much street photography in Bangladesh. I always found the place to be full of moments and colours worthy of capturing. The sun is always bright, people wear colourful cloths. The contrast is always optimum. This is one of the very few photos I managed to get this time in Bangladesh. #vendor #bangladesh #barisal #photography #streetphotography #fujifilm #tamimtasdik #colour #photooftheday #police #conversation #mango #afternoon #london #asia #intense #photographylovers #igers (at Barisal) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ce_THIEs-2t/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Painted Grasshopper (Poekilocerus pictus)
Distribution: Found in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and the Maldives.
Habitat: Show a preference for dry regions.
Diet: Adults and nymphs most often feed on milkweeds of the genus Calotropis, especially C. gigantea and C. procera. In absence of their preferred food sources, they will feed on a wide range of other plants, including agricultural crops such as wheat, papaya, citrus, castor, eggplant and mango. They will occasionally resort to cannibalism if they're starving.
Description: The painted grasshopper's most well-known trait is their toxicity, which stems from their diet of toxic milkweed sap, the toxins in which are classified as cardiac glycosides and have historically been used in the creation of poison arrows. Nymphs in particular also have the ability to spray noxious liquid when they're grabbed, to a distance of up to 30 centimetres; when any pressure is put on their head of abdomen, a jet of the viscous, milky liquid is aimed towards the sources of the pressure, with both an unpleasant smell and taste as well as a dose of cardiac glycosides. Adults can also discharge this liquid, though instead of emitting a jet, it comes out as a viscous foam leaking out of the sides of their bodies.
This species is often kept as a laboratory animal in India, as they serve as a great model for the observation of spermatogenesis through meiosis. Their cells also contain a chromosomal repair mechanism that counteracts the effects of mutagens during meiosis, prompting research on the enzymes and mechanisms involved in this process.

Vulpes Bengalensis
Bengal foxes, also known as Indian foxes, are found primarily in India with parts of their range extending into Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Although they are the most widespread fox species in India, very little research has been done on them.
Tumblr media
The population of the bengal fox is classified as least concern, meaning they are not facing extinction, but their population is decreasing due to habitat loss and disease. Bengal foxes are very bold and are fine living close to people, so habitat loss doesn’t affect them as severely as it affects animals like Bengal tigers.
Bengal foxes are omnivores. Their diets consist mostly of small rodents, birds, reptiles, and fruit, particularly mango. Foxes that live near people will gladly eat human food as well.
Because they are so bold around people, these foxes are supposedly quite docile.
Tumblr media
Based on very small amounts of research, it seems that Bengal foxes form pairs that stay together for many years. They also show strong den fidelity, which means that once they find a nice den they will return to that den year after year. They usually have 2-4 kits which are born in this den.
Tumblr media
I rate this fox 12/10. Very pretty with an amazing fluffy tail. They deserve more attention from researchers.

National Mango Day
It’s peak summertime and we cannot wait to get the celebrations started for Mango Day on July 22. The yellow fruit is world-famous for its sweet and juicy flavors. Mango is primarily a summer fruit, and it comes in all shapes and sizes, and with each variety, there’s a different way to enjoy the taste. Many people in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh eat the fruit whole, without cutting it up. They squeeze a mango thoroughly, turning its insides into a soft mushy pulp, and then make a hole in the skin to suck the pulp out. South Asia also happens to produce half the world’s mango supply. China is the second-largest mango producer.
History of Mango Day
According to several sources, the mango was first cultivated more than 4,000 years ago in India. Mango is a stone fruit that grows on a tropical tree called the Mangifera indica. The tree can grow up to 150 feet tall and can have an extremely long life span. When it is young, the mango tree has orange-red leaves that turn dark red to a luscious green over time. Mangos, growing from the tree’s flowers, can take four to five months to fully ripen and, before this, they are green and hard. There are more than 500 varieties in the world, and many of these were influenced and developed by political, religious, and social incidents.
As mentioned above, mango was first grown in India and it has a special significance for this country. The Buddha was depicted sitting near a huge mango tree and the Mughal emperor, Babur, decided to conquer India after he tasted a particularly delicious mango. It was the Mughal empire that went on to create and cultivate the many famous mango varieties like ‘chaunsa,’ ‘Anwar Ratol,’ and ‘Kesar’ mangoes. The mangoes were so beloved to the empire that one of the emperors, Shah Jahan Zafar, had his son punished after learning that he had reserved and eaten all the mangoes in the palace. As time went by, mangoes traveled from India to other countries of the world. Because it has a big seed, mangoes had to be transported by humans, unlike other fruits like cherries, which could easily be transported by birds and animals. The mango fruit was brought to Portugal and Britain by traders and colonizers. In South Asia, mangoes are so valued that they are considered the national fruit of Pakistan and India, and the national tree of Bangladesh. A basket of mangoes is also considered a gesture of friendship in the region.

Mangoes are divine fruits that deserve to be enjoyed throughout the year, but they are only in season during the summer. So don’t waste this opportunity and grab a mango to enjoy its sweet juiciness.
South Asians like Indians and Pakistanis have their own trademark style of eating the fruit. First, they lightly press a mango all over using their fingers and thumbs, and once the mango becomes soft, they puncture a hole into the skin, usually at the top. And then they simply enjoy it by sucking out the softened pulp. It can get messy, so have paper towels on hand.
Mangoes are extremely versatile. They go well in sweet dishes as well as savory ones. You can crush them up to make ice popsicles or mango puree, or you can cut them into cubes to have in your leafy salads.
