BLOOD HUNTERS #1 (OF 4) | May 8, 2024
HAWKEYE is on the run – but does he have enough trick arrows in his quiver to avoid both the long arm of the law AND vampires out for his blood?! See Clint band together with a brave group of civilians in a pulse-pounding story by writer Mark Russell and artist Bob Quinn.
MAN-WOLF and J. JONAH JAMESON do a little father-son bonding – while also fighting for their lives against a horde of bloodsuckers! It’s a new chapter of one of the oddest family dynamics in the Marvel Universe by writer Christos Gage and artist Javier Garrón.
With Cloak missing in action, DAGGER strikes out in search of new and surprising allies. Witness the genesis of Marvel’s wildest team yet: the BLOOD HUNTERS in the start of a multi-part story by Erica Schultz and Bernard Chang that will run across all four issues! Who will Dagger recruit? You’ll have to wait and see!

Marvel Premiere #46 (Kraft/Perez, Feb 1979). John Jameson accepts godhood, reunites with his fiancé Kristine, and returns to Earth. Weirdly I think I spotted his comatose body in Amazing Spider-Man, under care of Jonah’s scientist lady-friend. Curious to see how that’s going to tie together…

From Top to Bottom
Morbius, the Living Vampire
Real Name: Dr. Michael Alexander Morbius
First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #101 (October 1971)
Bio:
Michael Morbius was born and raised in Greece by his single mother, and experienced an isolated childhood due to a rare condition affecting his blood. He befriended another boy named Emil Nikos, and the two would spend most of their younger years searching for a cure for Michael's disease. Eventually, in his adult years, Michael would become a world-renowned physician known for his monumental breakthroughs in genetic research. He would also meet the love of his life, Martine Bancroft. However, as the years went by, Michael's disease gradually got worse, and threatened to end his life. In a desperate attempt to save himself, he would conduct an experiment involving injecting himself with various serums made from the DNA of vampire bats, and electroshock therapy. The experiment backfired, transforming Michael into a hideous creature which needed human blood to survive. In a bloodthirsty rage, he would kill Nikos, and drain him of his blood. Horrified at this monstrous act, he attempted suicide, but failed, washing up on a beach in New York. He would then encounter the web-slinging adventurer Spider-Man, and the rest was history.
Man-Wolf
Real Name: John Jameson
First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #124 (as Man-Wolf)
Bio:
John Jameson was the astronaut son of J. Jonah Jameson, the chief publisher of The Daily Bugle. During a mission to the moon, John would encounter a strange, glowing gem. Taking the gem as a souvenir, he would have the mysterious stone made into a pendent he would wear around his neck. However, the gem was actually an ancient artifact called the Godstone, holding the spirit of an alien warrior resembling a werewolf. So whenever the moon was full, it would trigger a transformation in John, turning him into a lycanthropic monster.
