Well I didn't think it would happen again but I found another injured bird at my work

Look at what a gorgeous lil fellow this guy is. Sadly has a head injury and some internal bleeding but was decently alert. I took him(?) to a wild life rehab nearby and so we just gotta hope he's doing ok now!

The species is American Woodcock. Look how beautiful that feather coloration is

I just . Repeating "characters are tools" you end up erasing so much about arashi's character and motivations and interactions with other characters if you avoid using her pronouns aka avoid showing she's transgender. It's on the same level of frustration with the translators i had when i saw they had Mika speaking standard English, there's a LOT that gets lost if you don't show those little things.

#and sure maybe some things wouldn't matter bc - i don't read many knights stories so beyond what's mentioned ab arashi in stories i've read #like those featuring mika and such #so i can't say for her but i can say for mika - because a lot of it is touched upon in ! which isn't getting translated #mika talks about his accent and dialect and such the most in ! HOWEVER #you still have idol story 3 where he talks with Tsumugi about how people perceive him because of his accent and #about how he feels like he's letting people down by not conforming to the positive stereotypes associated with his speech #and if you make him speak the standard language you completely lose that layer #if you erase the fact that Arashi is transgender you completely lose that layer of her characterisation and motivations #she literally has a story in !! where she talks about how much it hurts her to always be cast as the male character #in princess-knight themed shoots when all she wants to be is the princess #but how are you gonna get the full context of that if the story refuses to give you the context you had in the original #ie. that Arashi uses the (hyper)feminine ''atashi'' pronoun and that her speech pattern is one associated with young women #in ! she has a line where she asks i believe koga to not use the slur used for effeminate/gay men for her #because her name is arashi narukami and if anything she wants to be called arashi-chan or naruko #which is also additional context lost if you don't translate it right - the -ko suffix in a name is traditionally feminine #i'm no expert either but i'm a writer and i plan on working as a translator #and these are things that - if lost in translation - will impact your understanding of the entire story and/or character #whether it will have you completely misunderstanding it or just being confused is irrelevant but it's like #in my opinion as a translator it's your duty to translate even the subtext #if you need to show that arashi is transgender you don't need to say it (even tho #she did once say ''i will never be the woman i want to be'' iirc and #i do have recollection of mika telling her ''i don't really get it but you're a girl right?'')#but you should give us the same chance to come to the same conclusions which is to say. translate naruko to the best of your abilities.#idfk Nary maybe ? i feel like the -y ending is usually diminutive rather than feminine but.#something to that tune. and give her a girly speech pattern. it exists in english too.#slang can be associated with gender too #like you guys get it right.

He literally can’t be- he’s thick as a wall, built like a fuckin ox and sports a full beard? The two main distinctions of twink are: someone that’s smooth shaven with a lower muscle or slim build. (Some people argue young too but I’m hand wavy about that )

Lewis is none of those things! Even younger Lewis would have fallen into TWUNK (smooth shaven, younger and muscled/thicker built).

Also idk why you mentioned his height- and wrongly? Lewis is 5’9 but Twink doesn’t apply solely to average and shorter people that’s insane? You can be tall and be a twink- see George Russell or potentially Alex albon

Gerald Flood's everyman journalist is a nicely constructed audience avatar but it's missing cheese expert Peter #Williams who gives the orders (and regularly imperils his own children). a lot of fun! well worth seeking out for old tv fans #also needless to say the various miniatures and fx work is frankly adorable.#and shoutout to Prof Mary Meadows‚ it's nice to have a kickass lady scientist in a show this old (and who remains cooler and more capable #than her male counterparts on more than one occasion).

maggie devotes sm time to the relationship between adam's accent and gansey's accent and even comments on blue's accent but then never says a single thing abt known irish patriot ronan lynch possibly having one???? what's up with that

reading an m/m fic that i wasn’t really interested in for crumbs of a female character that was barely in the show and i get to the part where she actually has lines and oh my god. i have never seen a worse case of SHE WOULD NOT FUCKING SAY THAT

Tw for traumatic childbirth, medical trauma, coercion, gaslighting and medical abuse and fucking troglodyte manchild of a husband. Jesus fucking Christ.

#the fact that people are made to push their babies out while flat on their backs will never not be appalling to me #the natural birth position is squatting or on all fours #what the fuck is wrong with western medicine #if i ever have a baby I'd be torn between having it at home with a midwife‚ which honestly feels less scary‚#or a hospital where i can get an epidural because i am really pain averse #my doctor friend says she tries to discourage epidurals because in her experience something always ends up going wrong #the pain is supposed to be a signifier of what to do #and how and when to push #it's unlikely to be a problem for me bc i'm divorced ace disabled and poor #i can't imagine being able to afford a child even though i really want one #still. the patient is the expert on their own body. this rule should be iron clad when it comes to pregnancy and birthing #i think being against cis male gynaecologists is too radfem but then stuff like this happens #obviously cis female gynos and nurses can also be horrible but this kind of numbskullery might be not as common #cis het men are a goddamn plague jfc #knee of huss #r/relationships #reddit
