Started a new was supposed to be a oneshot for Halloween AU for October!!
This one is a 1800s mutual pining fake marriage AU hehe
————————————————————————-
“Are you alright?” Maka whispered before tightening her grip on his arm.
I dunno, am I? Soul thought as he looked to the side and noticed the way Maka’s eyebrows had been slightly furrowed in worry. However, his attention soon wandered towards how radiant she looked due to Marie’s handiwork in makeup and picking out a perfect dress to borrow for their wedding.
“Ye-yes, why wouldn’t I be?” Soul coughed out while watching Maka flash a smile at the crowd that’d gathered to watch them leave the courthouse.
“I don’t know, I just…thought you were acting a little off,” his wife replied, causing him to let out a long sigh due to how hard he’d been suppressing the urge to imagine all of this being real and not merely a favor between two friends.
“Oh well, I suppose I should try smiling a lil’ more. Wouldn’t wanna displease my wife,” he added before gently placing one of Maka’s hands within his own and feathering a kiss onto her knuckles.
The young man then looked up to see her gaping at him while he wondered if the soft blush across her cheekbones was a figment of his imagination.
“Hm, well I’m glad to hear it,” Maka whispered before grounding her feet to a halt and reaching up to peck him on the cheek, eliciting a set of gasps from the crowd.
The stopping point allowed Soul to get a perfect view of Blake, who seemed to flash him a wink before displaying the newsletter he’d been milking for the past week.
A Leaflet for Love
Soul Evans, one of our town’s most humble and prosperous farmers, had asked for a special section to be printed into Miss Maka Albarn’s copy of the Death Tribune this past week. It read as follows:
I am twenty two years old, have a rather peculiar set of teeth, believe in the wealth of Mister Deathman, and the merit of the crops which our town produces. I have taken up a State lot, cleared up eighteen acres last year, and seeded ten of it down.
My buckwheat looks first-rate, and the oats and potatoes are bully.
I have got nine sheep, a two-year-old bull, and two heifers, besides a house and barn.
I want to get married.
I want to buy bread-and-butter, hoop-skirts, and waterfalls for some person of the female persuasion during life. That's what's the matter with me.
But I don't know how to do it, as my world would shatter if none other than Miss Maka Albarn would give me the pleasure of being my wife.
————————————————————
“I just…don’t understand what I’m supposed to do sometimes, Soul,” Maka exclaimed before taking a swig out of a large wine bottle and passing it over to him.
“C’mon, you’re Maka Albarn, the toughest woman ta’ ever live,” Soul mumbled back while shifting the arm he’d snaked around her back.
He then took a large swig from the bottle while Maka slumped further against the pine tree they were seated under. The summer had graced the town with a cool evening breeze, which allowed the pair to have a perfect atmosphere for their nightly chats.
“Women are women to the lot, especially when it comes to business. Am I just supposed to waltz up to any investor, curtsy, and say good morning my name is Miss Maka Albarn and I’m inquiring about opening the first ever department store in Death City by myself,” she huffed, earning her a chortle from Soul.
“Well that’s where you’re wrong. I’m gonna be there to help you through it silly,” he added before regarding her with a shark-toothed grin, only to watch as her eyes became glazed over in deep thought.
“Hmm, help me out. That’s it!” the young woman yelped, eliciting Soul to jump at her sudden outburst.
“Soul….” she murmured before placing the wine bottle onto the ground and clasping both of her hands onto his own.
“Will you marry me?” Maka added while giving him an ardent stare, only for it to go unnoticed as the young man tried to wrap his mind around what she’d just said.
“Wha-“ Soul attempted to stammer out before feeling Maka’s grip on his hands begin to tighten.
“You could be the investor for me! I mean, you already have all this land and-“ Maka added, although Soul’s mind was too busy replaying those four words she’d uttered a moment ago.
Heh, kinda funny how I think about that stuff all the time. Me marryin’ Maka, her starting a business, us harvesting these fields every year until we’re an old married couple. Too bad…I can never really give her that life Soul mentally lamented before Maka slowly released his hands with a sigh.
“I-I mean only if you want to. It-it’s a request so please don’t-“
“Let’s do it,” the young man voiced while feeling a gentle warmth begin to creep up his chest once Maka’s emerald eyes settled upon his large grin.
“…Really?” she whispered, probing Soul into pressing his forehead against hers.
“Yea, if it means that much to ya’, let’s get hitched,” he added before Maka tackled him to the ground and hastily planted a set of kisses across his face.

Death Vengeance ~ Origins of the Ink Demon Chapter 3 Pt.7
Death the Kid : Thank you for coming to my celebratory event at the party going on. You got some minor details of looking fancy that we are celebrating the years of making DWMA the most spiritual successor to that one oranization that was led by the Kusakabe that created our world today.
Nevada Governor : We'll do, Kid. We'll do. Say, isn't your grandfather supposed and wasn't he that man who created the world of Soul Eater that he made to you?
Death the Kid : Well, ummm, I, uhhh...
[People murmuring, cameras flashing]
Liz Thompson : Hey, Kid. Do you mind giving the speech later about your grandfather problems?
Death the Kid : Not now, Liz. I got an important meeting with the state's governor, I got more things to worry than my grandfather.
News Reporter (?) : Any comment on your terms of making Soul World a better place for Nevada, Mr. Kid?
Death the Kid : Why yes, I have any further to details to tell you from. I dedicated myself that I would Attend this school to make Soul World a better place for Nevada, and even better place for earth of maintaining the global public order. And we'll do anything make sure that this school holds the legacy of Shinra Kusakabe, that ensures peace and prosperity for brighter things in the future. Because, Shinra Kusakabe is a proudful man and making his influenced helped us to serve this legacy of his. The DWMA has been the worthy successor of the World Heroes Force Organization in honoring my grandfather's legacy, and not to mention that my brother isn't here to see this.
News Reporter (?) : That's wonderful news to hear, Mr. Kid. And oh, one more thing for you to say this. Before we conclude this ongoing conversation of making Soul World a better place and a better for home for Death itself, there is one important thing to ask... are you responsible for the theft of the blue prints of a giant robot named Deathscythe?
Death the Kid : Wow! Deathscythe? That giant robot from that Gundam TV Show that everyone talks about? Oh yeah, I totally heard of him when I was little and I definitely saw him on TV when Toonami was on the air for Cartoon Network. I was such a huge fan of Giant Robots and I actually made a model of him after getting Gunpla from Japan. As a matter of fact, my father did.
News Reporter (?) : AHA! [its is revealed that the News Reporter is none of other than King Boo wearing a disugise] Gotcha, ya Ghost-stealing Jackass!
Death the Kid : Woah! [stutters to change the subject] Woah! Woah! Who the hell are you!?
King Boo : I was hoping to realize that you were the one responsible for stealing my goons and have them for granted at your own will, consuming souls from heartlesses that you and father steal from. I gotta ask Ansem a favor to tell you that your grandfather Shinra Kusakabe, is always a deluded fool to be a hero. And the Kusakabe family, will see you in hell!! [takes out a portrait]
Death the Kid : Woah, N-No! Please, don't do it! I only have this opportunity to serve his legacy! I was modeled after him as a image! You can't do that to me! [exlcaiming in horror] NNNOOOOOOOOO!!!
[SLAM!]
"Meanwhile later..."
[Tornado Defense Act 1 - Fumie Kumatani]
Bandit [via radio] Come in, Bird 1. This is Bird 1, Bird 1 to Bird 2, do you copy, over?
Moirai Albarn [via radio] : This is Bird 2, heading due east over the Atlantic Ocean. We're en route and everything's a go, over.
Maka Albarn [via radio] : We're steering and clearing, loud as ever, over!
Moirai Albarn [via radio] : All systems ago, full speed ahead!
Bandit [via radio] : 10-4! Copy that! [hears radar beeping] Hmm? Hang on, you two. We got company on the run.
Moirai Albarn : Those bastards are really up to something?
Maka Albarn : So much for sky highing. What are those red dots beeping on the radar? I believe there's something in the heat.
Moirai Albarn [via radio] : Are those aircrafts, or airplanes. Or must be them swallow robots from Robotnik.
Bandit : Swallow robots from Robotnik. Where did you find Swallow Robots from Robotnik before? Oh no, those aren't Swallow Robots...[behind the two Tornadoes are missiles] those are missiles from nowhere! Quickly, transform the Tornadoes into X-Shape ones!
Maka Albarn [via radio] : Got it! [Moirai and Bandit presses button to transform the Tornadoes into X-shape forms]
[SKY TO THE OCEAN - Akira Yamaoka]
Bandit : Let's blast these suckers right away! [fires against the missiles] Yeah! Take that you idiots! This is what you get for flying with the birds! Bird 1, come in Bird 2! We got enemy fires at full speed ahead! Going into defense mode, over!
Moirai Albarn [via radio] : Loud and Clear, over. [the two descends over to the Atlantic Ocean] Bird 1, this is Bird 2. Do you see anything that is heading north behind us, over.
Bandit : This is, Bird 1. It seems that there one or two more objects...What? there's something behind us, it looks likes a...[the Burstrick Rider from Contra Shattered Soldier appears behind them] Oh perfect!
Maka Albarn : Say that again?
Bandit [via radio] : It's the Robot on Skis! Looks like we're needed of bigger guns if we needed to take him down!
Maka Albarn : Of course, which is why that we are prepared!
Moirai Albarn : And I bet that this pile of scrap metal on skis is going to take hours to take him down. How long is it for us to take him down?
(scene flip)
Moirai Albarn : Wow! I don't believe that we managed to take that piece of scrap down like that. Too bad we had to skip the part by flipping another scene, these fans don't know of what the fans are up to when it comes to making scenes of action.
Maka Albarn : On the contrary, let's just say that we managed to use our powers to destroy the Burstrick Rider robot that really took us ...FOR HOURS!!!
Moirai Albarn : ...Right. So any ideas of wonder where we might land at?
Maka Albarn : We'll find out shortly! Hey, Bandit! Come in, Bandit! Looks like we managed to take down the Burstrick Rider, now we can en route to Egypt safely, over!
[Stage Clear - Tomoya Ohtani]
Bandit [via radio] : Roger that, kid! We're beginning to descend into Egypt! Next stop, the Pyramids!

Dopamine Scheme by @adulterclavis
College/coffeeshop AU.
Sometimes you volunteer to do musical accompaniment for a Shakespeare class's performances because it's a nice free way to sit in on what should be an interesting class, and sometimes that class devolves into chaotic internecine warfare over Romeo and Juliet interpretations to a degree that leaves you mildly afraid for your life. And SOMETIMES your brother happens to be taking that same class -- your brother to whom you've been lying for a couple years now about being in college so your family will let you live, your brother who's leading the faction convinced the play is a romance, your brother who's the handsome, talented, obedient son you could never be.
The point is, this class is going to be the death of Soul; if not for the first two reasons then because Black Star is there, whizzing around the stage in heelys and a utilikilt and not much else, screeching the Queen Mab monologue -- and that's ALMOST enough to let him ignore the crush he's developing on Maka Albarn, leading the rival faction against Wes and very loudly, very vehemently, very FRIGHTENINGLY convinced that the play is at best a parody and at worst a cautionary tale about idiot teenagers.
A (perhaps cautionary, often parodical) tale of a young man caught in a web of lies of his own making, what it means to pursue your passions, and the value of being true to oneself, accompanied by Black Star as MercutiYO, Running Band, and Dr. Stein's steampunk breaking bad coffeeshop.
read it here!!!
Happy Resbang season, yall!
When I saw this summary and saw a college + coffee shop AU I immediately knew I wanted in!!
I got some super sweet print making stuff for the holidays and decided it would be perfect to make a linocut to capture the true coffee shop ~vibe~ because my college coffee shop was full of old prints.
I survived using sharp tools with only 3 cuts, and only one cat got blue ink on his little nose.
Check out all the other cool works for the story:
@fran-aka-mak’s art
@macabremermaid’s playlist
Below is my original digital drawing and the monster I created after messing up the drawing the first time cause I forgot things have to go on backwards lol.
Also thank you @resbangmod for hosting this event and getting me off my butt to make things year after year!!!

DWMA Teacher – Meister
Name: Sara Death
Age: 25
Height: 5’8”
Eyes: Amethyst purple
Hair: Black that ends just above her lower back with three Lines of Sanzu on the left side of her head. The bottom line being a completed circle.
Appearance
Teacher
When she is teaching her hair is up in a braided bun with a pair of hair pins that have skulls on them sticking out of her hair. She wears a pencil skirt with skulls printed in a subtle pattern all over it that ends at her knee, a white button up blouse with the sleeves rolled halfway up her arms, a black suede leather bustier over the shirt, a pair of black, red bottomed, heels with a small skull on each shoe, and a pair of skull dangle earrings. The skulls throughout her outfit look exactly like Lord Death’s mask. She carries around a leather bound notebook with her to each class. She has many piercings in her ears but only wears earrings in her earlobes and her two helix piercings
Normal
On her days off or after class she likes to have her hair down most of the time or in a braid(s). Depends on how she is feeling that day. Her normal attire is a pair of classic black and white Converse, a pair of skinny jeans with some rips in one of knees and in the middle of one of her thighs, a simple graphic t-shirt, and a black zip up hoodie with a small skull on one of the pockets. The hood has half of Death’s mask printed on either side. So if she was to pull the two side of her hood together it would make a completed mask. In terms of accessories, she wears a skull pendent necklace that hangs just between her breasts, a black leather braided bracelet on one wrist, a sliver chain link bracelet on the other wrist, an industrial piercing and a mid helix in her left ear, and an upper helix and conch piercing in her right ear. Along with a normal set of pierced earlobes. The skulls throughout her outfit look exactly like Lord Death’s mask.
Formal
For the DWMA’s Anniversary Eve Celebration, she wears an elegant white boho A-line dress with an open back and a high slit on the left side. The skirt of the dress goes all the way to the floor with a short train behind her. There are pockets! She completes the look with a pair of white bumps with red bottoms, a pair of pearl double tiered earrings, and a simple silver diamond ring on her right ring finger. Her hair is left down in beautiful waves similar to Jessica Rabbit’s hair.
Weapon Partner
Any of the Death Scythes assigned to her by Lord Death – Current
Raven Albarn – Former
Family & Friends
Lord Death is her father.
Death the Kid is her younger brother.
Liz & Patty are like sisters to her.
Love Interest: Franken Stein
Personal Info
Does her own version of Maka and/or Reaper Chop to get Spirit off her legs. Loves her students dearly. Does show tough love if she sees someone doubting themselves or getting attitude. In her free time she goes out into the garden area of the campus and sketches the wild life. Sometimes she will sketch her students if they are training in the garden. She likes to sit in on Stein’s classes every now and then to help with teaching. Secretly it’s to sketch him because he is her favorite muse. Unknown to her, Stein loves it when she sketches him. It gives him goosebumps.
She’s very direct and acts the most “normal” between Death and her brother, Death the Kid. However she still has her own unique quirks.

Morpho Menelaus
Written for @mastar-week MaStar Week 2018 Day 2: Training
She was born with ash blonde hair and eyes that matched neither of her parents’. The wee tuff of grayish yellow was to be expected: her grandpa had always said that blond ran through the veins of the family. But the eyes? They were a dark earth, a swirl of brown that wasn’t present in either of her family lines.
“So she has a soulmate in this lifetime,” the doctor chuckled. She passed over the newborn daughter to the father. “Be wary for people with sunshine eyes and milk chocolate hair,” she teased.
Spirit sniffed indignantly. “My little Maka is too good for them, who ever they are.” He went on a tangent while simultaneously coddling her all at once.
They, the entire population of humans weren’t always so certain of the presence of a soulmate. Some were born without a trace of a bond, while others’ were so carefully hidden in plain sight that it was often times never realized. But a strong history of genetics and a well kept record often suggested the fact when the child’s eyes opened for the first time. And then when it changed colors? Indisputable.
Maka’s hair grew different with time, getting more bright and yellow as she grew older rather than in the opposite direction. Save for the strange green tint that she would get every summer from swimming classes, her locks became consistently lighter with age. With her mother’s blonde-turned-brown and her father’s tomato red, Maka hardly looked connected to any of her parents. She didn’t mind all too much after a while, because color was only just one thing. The shape of her face and outline of her features were the proof that settled her doubts.
Forgetting about the soulmate bond, Maka was rudely reminded in one college morning. Just a quarter past nine she shocked herself awake. There was a tingling sensation in her skin, and a presence that shadowed over her eyes. She leapt towards her bathroom mirror, seeing her irises already midway changed. There was a drop of wispy liquid like food coloring dispersing in water, but rather than clear, it was her brown that was fading away.  Replacing it was a shock of electric blue, closer to neon and brighter than the morning sun trying to flood her bathroom.
Maka couldn’t look away for a long time, until the transformation was completed and not an ounce of chocolate brown was left in the mirror. Then she screamed loudly in her dorm, waking her roommate and adjourning neighbors. “Are you fucking kidding me? I have team portraits at one!”
Her friends all cooed at the change, calling the color beautiful, but only after they were done scolding her noisiness. It was unlike anything that any of them had ever naturally seen-- hard to miss.
“Well, it will be easier to find them now right? Your soulmate.”
She groaned, “A soulmate is troublesome. They could be halfway around the world and I may never find them. What if I don’t even like them once I do. Why wait?”
“Or maybe they’re close, you know?”
“I guess that’s just the problem. I really don’t know.”
She pettily wore her sunglasses for the rest of the day, even indoors, refusing to acknowledge the bright blue.
A few weeks later, her volleyball coach announced a joint practice session with a school close by. They would be coming here for the next few months as their school’s facilities were in construction, so tomorrow would be a test run.
“I expect you all to be on your best behavior,” the coach glared at Maka’s group, playfully. “That includes you girls.”
A cascade of giggles followed.
She came to practice the next day armed with extra tape and water, for courtesy. But before she could step into the room, her friends swept her away in hushed tones.
“Everyone’s talking about it, Maka. You won’t believe it.”
She rolled her eyes. “Are all the boys hot or something?”
Tsubaki and Liz met eyes, but Patty was the one who answered her. “Not that, my dude.” She reached over to gently lift Maka’s sunglasses off of her nose. “One of them... their hair is blue.”
As Maka ran off, she heard behind her, “None of us can catch his eyes though! It might not be him!”
Her heart raced and her hands were shaking. The group of girls crowding at the door saw Maka and parted like a curtain. Such a motion attracted the eyes of the newcomers, but the one person that she wanted to see was already staring back at her. Blue hair, and liquid gold eyes.
She couldn’t hold back her first thoughts, letting them slip out and into the silent gym.
“Ew.”
“Ew.”
Those were the first words that he heard from his soulmate’s mouth.
She was out of breath as if she’d just sprinted a marathon, hair tossed and her clothes askew. And her eyes, her wild and bright blue eyes, were wide.
As if she was slapped, she winced, realizing what she’d just said to a stranger. The girl doubled back and started stammering, bumbling over her words and looking down to her feet instead of at him. The silence that had formed in the gym caused her words to bounce back loudly, echoing. In the meantime, Black Star’s eyes darted from her face to her hair, and from her hair to her to her ears, and from her ears to her nose, and from her nose to her still rambling mouth.
She was an adorable specimen. While small, her build was noticeably lithe, yet athletic. She stood with her feet apart, hands unable to keep still, and shoulders confidently squared even as she was doubting herself. The other teammates around them watched her, entertained-- lovely so.
Black Star, after taking her in, slowly revealed a big, shit-eating-grin. He also couldn’t hold back his thoughts, showing them in the form of a drawled, “Awwww shi-et.”
His cackling stopped the girl in her tracks.
So maybe in hindsight, it wasn’t the correct reaction to the situation, but Star had been waiting for her-- his soulmate-- for so long. He dyed his hair weeks ago because he was tired of the people who pretended they were  his match, revealed otherwise in more ways than one. A life partner should not try to fit themselves into a mold, and on that note, they shouldn’t not force him to either.
Still, he was impatient to find the person destined to be his. The blue that he chose was a desperate move, not as desperate as what he’s seen on the internet. There were people who dyed their hair to show numbers and addresses, even going as far as to print obscene words or icons out of spite. He decided that the color was harmless enough, but wild and unignorable, unique and matched the blond that his soulmate had. If anything, Black Star was the one who was taking the brunt of his decision. He wanted to find them though, at least meet them once in their lifetime.
Luckily, the host school’s coach stumbled onto the scene then.
She took one glance at Star’s hair, and in an act of mercy, she called out, “Albarn and, uh.”
“Braxton,” he supplied.
The coach nodded. “You two, out of my gym. Don’t come back until you’ve had a proper chat.” With that, she met eyes with the girl, Albarn, and tilted her chin towards the door. “Out.”
Reluctantly, Albarn followed Star out where they settled beside the wall. He didn’t plan what to say next after they’d left, much less expect to have a chance alone so suddenly, but he couldn’t erase the smile off of his face for the life of him. She sat an arm’s length from him, and he scooched closer to make up the difference.
“So,” he offered. “You’re a volleyball player, too, huh, Albarn?”
“Maka,” she said quickly.
“Huh?”
“My name. It’s Maka. Albarn is my last name.”
“Oh,” he replied, but undeterred. “That’s a nice name, too!”
She thanked him, uncertainty laced in her tone. The feeling that she was being too guarded weighed on Black Star. He wondered why it was so, or why it bothered him so much. Maka showed she was impatient in the form of her body language, but not in the way that he was to get to know her. She continued to glance into the gym where their friends and team were warming up, stretching and slapping on their gear. Did he really spark that little interest?
“So, you got a partner?”
Maka sighed, finally looking at him since they’d left the building. He could tell that she was finally studying him. “Not right now, no.”
“Great! Let’s—”
She cut him off, voice already tired. “Come on, Braxton. Are you serious? We’ve only just met.”
“I know,” he tried. “My friends call me Black Star, not Brax. And why wait? I already know that I’m into you.” He saw her withdraw. “I’m serious, I am.”
Was he earnest enough? Did he sound firm?
She hesitated for too long for him to be certain.
“I’ve been waiting for you my whole life,” he said softly. “We don’t have to jump into it. Just be my friend. Just try for a little.”
Maka uncrossed her arms, letting out a breath that she was holding for too long.
“Alright. I- I’m sorry. I’m not usually this… wound up.”
He wanted to touch her hand, badly.
She continued, “This is just a really big surprise. And uh, your hair. No offense, but what is that color?”
Black Star ran a hand through the top, chuckling. “You noticed it though, right? Was that why you said what you did?” Her nod confirmed it. “It worked the way it was supposed to, then! Well, it definitely looks better as your eye color, doesn't it? I dunno. Fuck it, man, I was desperate. I wanted to find you that bad.”
A faint blush splashed her cheeks. “But, why?”
“I don’t know,” he said. “Find out with me.”
Maka mused it in her head. “Alright, fine. But just to make sure, on three, we say the date that the blue appeared. You remember it, right?”
He nodded.
“Ok good. Ready? On three. One, two—”
“Wait, like on three or on go?”
Maka squinted while Star gave a sheepish grin.
“Three. One, two, three.”
“February seventh,” they said simultaneously, unsurprised.
“I don’t know why I even bothered,” Maka sighed. “It was pretty obvious what this is.”
“So, we can keep seeing each other?”
Smiling, she answered, “Why not. You’re not terrible.”
“And we’re soooulmaaates?”
“Don’t push it.”
“Come on, say it.”
“Fine, we’re soulmates.”
“Awwww shi-et,” Black Star said, breaking into another wide grin.
